Okay, so remember how I said last week I was going to get my plan for Sept ready to go... Yeah, that did not happen... and I woke up late this morning, because I was off yesterday so I turned my alarm off, and forgot to turn it back on, so no exercise this morning... I'm off to a great start for September...
Okay so @Micki48 my steps
8/23 - 1890
8/24 - 2315
8/25 - 2295
8/26 - 2259
8/27 - 2164
8/28 -3666
8/29 - 4656
8/30 -8138
8/31 - 795
I do want to continue the step challenge, I would like to make my goal 10K - I am going to aim to earn a min of $50 dollars this month, with the health ins thingy...
Anyway, I'm Vikki - I just turned 49 yesterday - So I have 1 year to get to my goal weight, which would be 30 more pds... I've been with this group for 1 year (next month) and it has helped me stick to my goals much better than any thing I have ever tried before.. It's so helpful to have some where to go where others understand the struggles and celebrate the victories with you.
I am a planner, if I don't have a plan, I do NOTHING, I am not good at winging it, never have been, and at this rate never will be, so since I did not plan my week in advance, and messed up my morning, I will have to plan my evening with precision in order to accomplish everything... So
I will do 30 min video once i get home from work, before dinner.
Then I will have dinner which will be a turkey wrap
Then I will do a 20 min video, and 15 minutes of yoga.
My goals for Sept are to try to change my weekends, and stop throwing everything out the window, I do great during the week, but weekends undo everything, and are the reason I yo-yo like I do... I have to figure out how to get better control of my weekends...
I also would like to start hiking again, so for Sept I will do atleast 2 hikes...
I am not going to make a weight a goal, because I've been doing that for how many months, and I think I've hit it ONE time, just once... and I'm just tired of the disappointment.
My goals for this week are
Tuesday - outlined above
Weds - 40 min video in the morning - pilates in the evening
Thursday - 40 min video in the morning - Yoga in the evening
Friday - 40 min video in the morning - Strength training in the evening
Saturday - Local park to walk the track
Sunday - We have a party to go to in the afternoon - and they live near a nice park, so I think we should go early and do a hike..
Have a great day !

Sleepin' Sunday (how close to 8 hours of sleep can get to tonight?)
Meatless Monday (all veggies and fruit today)
Toning Tuesday (the workout of your choice that includes toning/strength exercises)
Workout Wednesday (cardio workout of your choice)
Thirsty Thursday (how close to 64 oz of water can you get today?)
Fruity Friday (fresh fruit anyone?)
Steppin' Saturday (How many steps can you walk in a day?)
Here are my September goals:
1. Exercise DAILY for @ least 30 minutes.
2. Create a DAILY calorie deficit of at least 500
3. Drink at least 64 oz of water DAILY
4. Lose 8-10 pounds by month's end.
Here's my progress so far:
8/30/2020
Sleepin' Sunday -- Less than 3 hours of sleep (had LOTS of homework to do)
Exercise = 15 minutes
Calorie Deficit -- nope!
Water = 29 oz
STEPS = 8,919
8/31/2020
Meatless Monday -- SUCCESS!
Exercise = 55 minutes of walking (thanks to an early morning workout and an insane day at work)
Calorie Deficit = 611
Water = 57 oz
STEPS = 11,463
This is accountability in action! Fantastic job, except for those 3 hours of sleep instead of 8... I hope you can catch up
Toning Tuesday, people! Work those likkle mooscles (as my demented daughter would say).1 -
@Gidgitgoescrazy
OK - challenge accepted. TWO HIKES this month. I have also fallen off my hiking habit - I take long walks in our woods here at home, but have not done a "real" hike for a long time. I'm going to try to do this along with you! The leaves are starting to turn all beautiful, so this is the best time ever for hiking.
We missed your birthday! Congratulations on reaching 49 hopefully in a better place than you were at 48. You are my planning muse, and you can always put a smile on everyone's face. This time next year, there will be 30 pounds less of you.1 -
Yesterday I ended up going over on my calories but instead of giving up and blowing the whole day, I continued to log it all It wasn't pretty but it is an improvement from last month when I would have just pretended it wasn't happening. At least this way it is in my face.
Today is our 36th wedding anniversary. We're planning a COVID style celebration - a quiet evening at home with a nice meal and streaming a movie. How the world has changed in a year! Last year we hopped on a plane and went to San Francisco to see "Hamilton" and eat on Fisherman's Wharf...8 -
Wow, hello all! Didn't realize (or read closely!) that September chat/challenge started 2 days ago, but here I am.
Brand new to the group and very happy to be here (shout out to @conleywoods for introducing me to this whole group!) - a little about me: I'm Kay, 25 years old, was a runner and dancer all my primary school years, but took the "freshman 15" and then some VERY seriously in college.
Once I got my first job out of college and moved out of the parents house, I really committed to using MFP, meal planning, and exercising more (but not really running - I never liked it much in the first place!). First used MFP in spring 2014, but I consider my starting weight now to be 233 in Feb 2018. I currently live in Boston in the US, but am quarantining in upstate NY (near family). There have certainly been weight and health ups and downs (as we all know!), but I am down ~34lbs as of this morning. However, August and most of July were really not great for me, and I was down almost 45 in the end of June. I think a lot of this weight is still some bloat from sugary/salty eating in the last few weeks, so I am hopeful to shed some of that this month!
I've chosen Fridays for my weigh-in days. I am someone who is really obsessed with getting steps - I've been using various fitbits/Garmins since 2015 or so. Currently, I am on a 288-day streak of 10K steps or more. I would love to get to 300+ days. I also love to use the FitOn app for free at-home workouts. It's got a huge library of actually free videos. (They have a premium option as of a few months ago, but I haven't tried it - that is the only ad/pop-up you see in the app and it is easily ignored/not constant, if anyone is interested in downloading [not a plug haha]).
Some goals for my September journey...
1. Keep up daily journaling.
2. Don't let family plans interfere with my meal planning (i.e. when the fam wants to make X for dinner and I already have mine squared away).
3. Get back to consistently being under calories for most of the month.
Encouraging to see some similar goals and thoughts in the thread already!6 -
Managed to get in 10k steps today. I did have a krispy kreme because they are free at my work though lol. Going to meal prep tomorrow and go food shopping. 🥰5
-
This is an upcoming free Pilates 5 day with Robin, the woman Liselyn and I use. Give it a try if you are interested. It starts September 14th.

I signed up! It's gotta be better than my tent planks plan. XD
Hopefully I have enough room to do it here. Might have to clean my living room up.
Yay! That's great. We can check in here to see how everybody is doing. I really love it. Glad you're in.1 -
@micki48
sorry about the step reporting, or lack of.... I think for September I'll have to give it a pass.
8/24 7121
8/25 7552
8/26 8495
8/27 10082
8/28 7906
8/29 15790
8/30 543 (charging all day, ha!)
Sylvia, You gave me a September step number. Confirming - You do not wish to be on the Step Team for September??0 -
Welcome @Kali2020. Glad to have you join us. Family eating is my downfall as well. Would you like to join our step team, no pressure, but since you mentioned your steps, just another level of accountability. If so, let me know, along with your daily goal and report either daily or weekly here.
@Gidgitgoescrazy and @jugar I'm going to join you with the hike goal. I have been wanting to get myself out more and enjoy the natural beauty of my area. Too much house time. So perfect reason to get out and do 2 hikes this month. Thanks for the idea Vikki! Also your planning is awe inspiring.
Sleepin' Sunday (how close to 8 hours of sleep can get to tonight?) I got 7 hours and 14 minutes. My goal is 7 hours, not 8
Meatless Monday (all veggies and fruit today)Didn't see this in time for it today.
Toning Tuesday (the workout of your choice that includes toning/strength exercises)Will be doing Kettlebell for Beginners or Pilates. Will confirm later.
Workout Wednesday (cardio workout of your choice)
Thirsty Thursday (how close to 64 oz of water can you get today?)
Fruity Friday (fresh fruit anyone?)
Steppin' Saturday (How many steps can you walk in a day?)No Tuesday Tone yet here, but I plan on doing a kettlebell routine or pilates later. I have family here for dinner again today, so it will be later.
I did log everything yesterday and was under my calories. I listened to my hunger and stopped when I was full. Today I made a Pecan Pie because I had a lot of pecans and I bake. :|And took a walk at the Bog Garden with this cutie!

September is off to a good start. I have been getting my 5am workouts in. I have been logging and feeling good about my calories. I need to work a little harder to hit my macros though.
The scale is still really high, which is frustrating. At one point, I thought about putting my scale away for the month because I feel like I am doing better then the scale shows, but I changed my mind. 🤷♀️
@micki48 your grand baby is so cute!!! I will continue in the step challenge.
@gidgitgoescrazy Happy Birthday!
Welcome new friends!2 -
I'm still in a mental funk and ate way more cookies than I should. But I logged them all and am somehow still within 100 calories of my goal. I also managed to hit my step goal today so that's good too.
I'm having my partner over for a fire and dinner tomorrow after work before he goes away for 5 days, so I will need to get up and walk before work and make sure I walk on my lunch break too.6 -
I'm watching you, @KellyBgetsfit
I did not get the toning happening today - but I finished painting what will become my sewing room! My daughter moved out many years ago, and I'm finally re-purposing her old room, and moving all my sewing gear out of my own bedroom. I am terrible at decorating and all that, but it is done! Now I just have to clean it all up, we're going to do something new for flooring, and then I can move my stuff. Then it will be time to paint our bedroom. Tell my why I started this again?
So yeah - I'm glad to see everyone's news. And you found us @Kali225 !
Heads up for Wednesday weigh-ins:
@offitgoes
@evelynladams527
@PlaneMonkey
I sure hope you'll be getting some more green numbers on the spreadsheet! There is a rather red trend happening so far...
Enjoy the full moon - and get ready for some cardio tomorrow! Let's have some good sweat happening.1 -
Happy Tuesday,
@CanadianGiraffe Happy anniversary 🎉 ❤ 💕
@Gidgitgoescrazy Happy birthday! How did your cake turn out?
@jugar Sounds like a big win on the sewing room. So nice to have a space to sew. I have a tiny space that I set up and take down. I did a little sewing on so masks today.
I ordered a bunch of clothes from Amazon for a closet overhaul since I shrunk. I loved about half of it which was way better than I thought. I also have a terrible time getting my arms to fit into more tailored shirts but not this time! Now I just need some cooler weather for some of those fall outfits.
I did not do toning Tuesday. Taking a little workout break the last two days. Back at it tomorrow. @terytha glad you signed up for the balanced life. I have done some in the past and I love the instructor, Robin. Funny story, my core was super weak at the beginning of summer and probably my pelvic floor too. My ballet core workouts are similar to pilates but really heavy on the reps. I would have to go to the bathroom every 10 minutes, I was afraid I was going to pee my pants during workouts. 😆 LOL3 -

Water = 52 oz
STEPS = 9,4053 -
@conleywoods Congrats on the new clothes, that must be such a great feeling! I can't wait to go shopping for smaller clothes
Things are going OK for me although my ankle is still not back to normal so I'm not back to the gym yet. I have been doing pretty well with keeping within my calories though, which is good. I was very worried I would back track and end up over-eating as I'm used to having the extra exercise calories most days, but I have been exerting my Supreme Willpower! Lol.
Luckily the weight has stayed off, I've not lost any more, but that's OK for these few days whilst my ankle is recovering.
I am going to look into the Pilates challenge too - I was doing some Pilates over Zoom however they are currently on Summer break so this could be great for me. Really need to get my core strength up!
Have a great day everyone and keep at it!

September is off to a great start. My kids are back in school and the house is quiet in the mornings which gives me so much time to think/process.
I’m working on setting up better morning routines for all of us... if anyone has suggestions I’d love to hear how you all start your day with lots of positive energy.
Happy Anniversary @CanadianGiraffe!
Happy Birthday @Gidgitgoescrazy!

Thanks for the Bday wishes !
Yesterday was good, I got home and did everything in my plan... and I had to stand beside my bed to get to it but...
Steps for 9/1 = 10,012 & 15 min yoga
Funny story about the yoga, I was showing my hubby stuff on the app over the weekend and I apparently had mine set with a back strength boost... Yeesh, I didn't know I could do so many planks, chaturangas and up-dogs in 15 minutes !
I did not do my full 40 minutes of video this morning, I did 30 - I will do the other 10 this evening, I decided to straighten my hair instead... I was planning on doing a few walks at work today, and I checked the weather before I even got out of bed, no rain till 5pm... Well guess what I walked out the front door to ? Yup, it was raining ! It's still raining, I had to walk circles around my office while I made coffee to get a 500 step goal... stupid weather app !
@Steph1498 - I start my morning with exercise, it really helps set the tone for the day..
@conleywoods The cake was really good, and I didn't even have to make it, my son ended up making it. and when I had friends over, we had cake 1st because I didn't want to be stuck with the whole thing, so this way I made sure everyone ate a piece...
@evangsimmons170 I didn't see this till today, but here's mine
Sleepin' Sunday (how close to 8 hours of sleep can get to tonight?) I got 7.58 - but it wasn't very good sleep, I only scored a 64- so there was lots of tossing and turning..
Meatless Monday (all veggies and fruit today) - Failed...
Toning Tuesday (the workout of your choice that includes toning/strength exercises) - I did Yoga with a back strength boost.
Workout Wednesday (cardio workout of your choice) I did 30 min of a Leslie Sansone Video
Have a great day everyone !

Happy Wednesday!
Today is clean up the messes Wednesday, and yes, I WILL get a good sweaty workout in for sure. I'm feeling all cooped up and antsy - a sure sign that I did not get enough of a burn on for the past couple of days.
Morning routines? @Steph1498 - I am looking forward to answers on that one! I have a tendency to sit around, read the news, catch up on computer stuff, and then life starts. I generally exercise much later in the day, but I feel like a lot of good time gets wasted in the mornings. So here's hoping for some good suggestions that we can try!2 -
PW: 180
CW:180.2
Ugg! It is all food choices. It certainly is not activity. Buckling down. I am going away for a week this coming Monday - little nervous because restaurants all week. It is what it is.2 -
@jugar hey I asked if you could change my weigh day to a Saturday, not been updated yet x
Otherwise I have cycled today!! Yey! 6.5 miles to work and then trained home because the rain was pouring down. Meal prepped a couple of things today and feeling good so far. Time for a nap before I get the wee one x2 -
Also I can't get onto the September habit tracker but my goals are
1. 8k steps daily
2. Workout 20 min
3. Meditate 5 min
4. Meal prep 1-2x week

@evangsimmons170 and @KellyBgetsfit Thanks. I think she’s pretty cute too. 🤗
@CanadianGiraffe Happy Anniversary to you and hubby. Sounds like you always find a nice way to celebrate.🎉
@jugar and @conleywoods Did you know September was “Sewing Month?” JoAnne Fabrics told me that yesterday. I would love to get back to sewing, but my machine is in a closet blocked by my exercise bike blocked by a makeshift bed for the little one. 😐
So I had some good and bad yesterday. The good was I made myself do toning at 9pm because I had you all whispering in my ear. It was a 25 minute Pilates tone and it WAS challenging. I can feel it today. I also reached by step goal of 9,000.
My bad...politics is sports in this house and I have had about all I can take. My husband was telling me about how our candidate could win and couldn’t win based on historical electoral blah blah blah. We are on the same side even. I just can’t handle the idea of continuing on the current path for 4 more years so I asked him to stop. I don’t want to hear it. He kept going. I went to the kitchen and had a glass of milk with two graham crackers...and then a creme cookie...and then three more! Not his fault. My decision, but clearly I AM a stress eater and have t been that out of control of my eating in a while. I had NO Will to stop myself. 😢 I acknowledged what I did and am moving on. Today I will log all my food and and not stress eat. I will stress drink water or stress run in place. Our world is not in a great place and hubby is researching moving to Canada. We have friends who did four years ago and have sent him their process story.
Here’s my breakfast this morning.

@micki48 thanks for the welcome! I am down for the step challenge. I keep track of a LOT of health-related things in an excel already, so it should be easy to report steps every few days. I'll list some tomorrow starting from the 1st!
That breakfast looks great! I very recently tried avocado again (made some guac) and I think I actually like it a lot, but the calories kind of scare me away from regularly incorporating it? (I also second that your grandchild is precious!)
@evangsimmons170 love this weekly set up! I'm doing okay so far:
Sunday: 7 hr 13 min sleep
Monday: nope (chicken with dinner already planned)
Tuesday: 13 min "Blazing Guns" arm workout
Wednesday: 19 min cardio interval workout
Happy Hump Day all!2 -
I was so comfy on the couch and so lazy and chilling with my cat last night, but I still forced my butt upstairs and did 36 minutes of cardio before bed.
Pretty light effort, but honestly any movement is better than couch laying, and it seems to have helped my back a bit. So we'll put that as a check mark in the "being more active" win column.
I inflicted my low cal cheesecake on husband so tonight he is making some kind of tofu pudding. We're just gonna keep creating desserts at each other for a while I think. XD
I will report back on the pudding.3 -
