Food inspiration, or what's for supper?

Last night was hibachi chicken, stir fried zucchini/onions/mushrooms, and "fried" rice (which was mostly more veggies... like I doubled the serving thanks to the veggies lol). I did use some store bought "yum yum" sauce on it but only a little bit.
I did realize this morning that starting WW in the middle of the week after I had already done my meal plan and shopping for the week may not have been the best idea. I am out of fruits and vegetables to snack on or bulk up my meals with. No clue what lunch will be... or breakfast really. Luckily tomorrow is shopping day and Sunday is "weigh in" (to set my week as Sunday-Saturday more then anything) so I can use my weekly points.3 -
Tried WW a few times. It worked as long as I had a “scheduled” life. Once I retired it was impossible because every day was anything-can-happen day.
I hope you find WW helpful and supportive. And successful.4 -
I joined WW the first time in the early 70s and it was $2 a week…since then I probably joined 20 more times…I got to the point I used fake names ( truth! ) so they would not know how many times I had joined!….my mom hit her goal on WW and was a lifetime member…
Tonight we had a vegetable dinner…..salad,sweet potatoes, fresh green beans, and an ear of fresh sweet corn….I bought a flat of strawberries yesterday and between the six of us they are disappearing!3 -
I'm feeling pretty tired today but fortunately dinner is as simple as put the casserole in the oven on time, and warm up some frozen packets of rice. That's about my speed tonight.
I maybe shouldn't have launched into deep cleaning my son's room, but he's out of it temporarily and I wanted it to be left clean before we shut it up. I did throw a dust sheet over the bed so that I can remove the inevitable cat hair. They WILL get in and sleep on the bed.5 -
I made refried bean enchiladas with lots of onions and peppers…..so filling, spicy, and yummy!3

This is how the meals often work at my house. Mine, Boyfriend's, and Girlfriend's. He got a small bowl of broccoli with alfredo sauce and Cajun shrimp; Girlfriend has a larger bowl of fettuccini noodles with alfredo sauce and Cajun shrimp, with broccoli. Ignore the bowl of rice; I'm going to put that into individual sealed packages after dinner.

That Cajun shrimp looks awesome!3
-
Uh-huh, it does. But I would fill the big bowl with broccoli 🤣2
-
Looks amazing! I would do a big bowl of 3/4 broccoli and 1/4 noodles with sauce and shrimp. Gotta get those high fiber veggies in (for me)! But the shrimp? It is 8am and I want some now.4

The portions are so custom/exact. Wow.
Today is day two of me being "back in the saddle" (I hope) - biggest problem is that I've really been having a problem cooking/prepping food. I'll find my way back - but even now - planning "brunch" I'm cringing at the thought of preparing it.
But - writing this I remember when I was doing well that I while I was taking the girl for her morning walk, I would decide which CD I would listen to while cooking, when I got home. That worked. How easily we forget the healthy habits.
Brunch is my big meal - if I can nail that the day falls into place. Eggs and veggies basically. Will report back with my CD choice and success story (I hope!).3 -
Alex those dishes are gorgeous….all so well plated and pristine….you really are an amazing chef!3

We eat with our eyes first. I like making it look good and then taste as good as it looks.3 -
Popcorn and low fat ice cream for dinner. I know. I know! It was within calories but not the best choices. Still that’s what I wanted.3

I love it, Yooly.
I had a bunch of veggies and scrambled eggs but I just can't get my head around eggs these days even though they are such a quick & easy protein. I was just this side of gagging and that doesn't help inspire a healthy dinner 😁2 -
We had burge, tiny n potatoes , and mixed vegetables….the burgers were kind of blah….I ate them anyway to fill me up!1
-
Burgers not burge lol2

Thought I had written about finding something instead of eggs for Laurie and about having soup and salad and a very low activity day! But I don't see the post anywhere 🤷🏻♂️2

I think the furry ones stole that post, PAV.
What kind of soup?
Perhaps subconsciously I just want to keep eating the fake sausages??? lol1 -
Salad with pear and Walden Farms 0 calorie dressing. Also 6 small Bibigo steam dumplings from Costco - 250 calories. So far so good. Unfortunately I’m having a bad case of the munchies today and hope it doesn’t all fall apart before bed time. I’m not sure what’s causing the munchies but I’m feeling some anxiety (?) boredom (?) that I can’t seem to identify. Something in the back of my mind thinks food will solve the mystery issue. Playing head games is exhausting 🥺2

Great dinner!….baked ham, sweet potatoes,fresh asparagus, and a salad….2

Connie stuck burgers in my head. But I was evil to them!!!!😹 Made a humongous salad: wilted lettuce (balsamic, some salt, a naked paw squishing the fresh lettuce, some black pepper, leave it for a bit to rest), tomatoes, onions, radishes, sour picked onions, dill pickles, boiled eggs
...was the salad. Then I grilled two blue Menu Angus burgers (170 Cal each) with 15g gouda and a touch of sriracha on the grilling pan, cause Connie made me??!🤔😘🤣. The 🤯 crime and evil dead? Chopped up the burgers and put them in my salad!!!😉
Dad is still upset at the sacrilege "more of the weird 💩 you eat"!😉2 -
Good going PAV! 👍. The big salad 🥗 topped with protein is my go-to almost every evening. That’s if I’m not doing the popcorn with a low fat ice cream chaser.2

Tonight I'll be making Branzino fillets, a baked sweet potato, and some green beans. Simple and easy
Breakfast this week is mini bagels with chive cream cheese and hardboiled eggs
Lunch will be turkey or chicken sandwiches with laughing cow cheese and vegetables plus fruit on the side
And other dinners will include:
Burgers with air fryer fries and roasted zucchini
Yellow curry with chicken, potatoes, carrots, and onions on rice3 -
Dinner tonight will be an exercise in moderation because we have a rich lamb ragu and homemade pasta...
See, that's what happens when you watch Stanley Tucci gallivanting around Italy eating gorgeous food...suddenly my husband decides to dust off his pasta maker machine and slow-cook organic lamb with San Marzano tomatoes and red wine.
Sigh...5 -
"Inspired" by your approach. Moderation, not deprivation.2
-
Large shrimp cocktails, green beans, and baked potatoes with cottage cheese on top!2
-
I think I'd like to have the same, Connie (let the pup have the shrimp though )2
-
That lamb and pasta was probably a better deal then the mussel pasta I made! And home made? Mmmmm!2
-
The absolute best foods touch together and mix eggs into alternative products such as artificially sweetened broccoli brownies covered with sriracha! 🙀🙀🙀
😹😹😹🤣🤣🤣 I am just enjoying the fact that Connie cannot press the disagree button no matter what food combos I suggest👍2 -
Guess we’ll have to explain ourselves when we disagree.2
