Tuna - lots of tuna salad. Because it’s easy to make, cold and keeps in the fridge. Not in the mood for creativity lately.

veggies and ice cream? but i probably should lose the (nestle) drumsticks and move more towards "fruit ice" or "greek yogurt" bars... at 280 to 310 a pop the drumsticks multiply way faster than the 60 to 100 Cal a pop mango, banana, black cherry contingent!

Can’t have ice cream around unless hubby eats most of it. Certainly not the individual portion kind like cups or sticks. Because one would not suffice.
I need to go to the bother of scooping and measuring. Reaching in the freezer and just grabbing ice cream to go .......

That looks some dangerous PAV 😳

Somehow I’ve been doing not badly just eating “intuitively “ lately. Pretty sure I’ve been running at a deficit most days. It’s been a bit funny trying to fit in my daily dose of smoothie and green soup. I’m just not that hungry And more strangely not really craving. My son runs to Tim Hortons and gets coffee and cookies for his breakfast every morning only a couple times have I asked him to pick me up something. I’ve been averaging between 500 and thousand steps a day. I can’t even conceive of moving that little, but I am.

Yesterday I had this amazing veggie burger from a fancy burger joint and that was such a great treat!

How is the Laurie repair project... projecting?

I can't even conceive what might be dangerous about my little buggie... maybe you're concerned for the bunnies Laurie?

I SHOULD have bought more veggies but I was shopping late and they had already run out of the "dual purpose" butternut which I cleaned out... and their other mixes some I like and some not as much. Then again their 15% is only $0.10 per bag better than their "normal" sale for the veggies.

The Laurie repair project had me wanting to add Southern comfort to my tea first thing in the morning. Some bargain enjoying friends who don’t drink themselves always buy me little bottles of alcohol from the duty-free shop when they return from travels. Yesterday they brought a little bottle that was tempting me mightily 😁

I’ve been coming up against endless healthcare system post Covid glitches lately but I’m trying not to think too much about it or get agitated because I have to stay calm and quiet to make sure my retina attaches. But I tell you it feels like there are some really big cracks in the system.

That feeling is being magnified by my inability to exercise at all and very compromised vision. Both of those are a great way to ramp up anxiety and overthinking.

Maybe that’s why those boxes of drumsticks looked so dangerous to me 🤣😂

No - no alcohol until the retina is secure. If if it’s any comfort, medical care on this side of the border is equally messed up post covid. Lots of personnel shortages and waiting for appointments.
It will all sort itself out. Patience.

Dad's NP announced to me that she felt that we didn't have a very good therapeutic relationship between us. While I really do like her as a person, I think her evaluation of our status at the time was correct

Doesn't happen that easily and as of later that day once she had a one on one with her patient she changed her viewpoint considerably

Actually the medical instructions on the retina said alcohol is OK after the 24 hours ! Which was a bit of a surprise . I was l holding off because of the breast - but since it is looking like a full mastectomy is coming soon I decided I can have some in my tea. 🙂

Not much choice but to have patience on the eye front if I want to get back the vision in that eye.

I took a big step on the breast cancer front today to ask for a referral to another hospital/health net work. It’s been a year since I started this journey with my family doctor and despite a couple of surgeries I still have cancer and haven’t started any other treatment. Patience doesn’t seem like a good thing on that front anymore.

I’m trying to calmly and quietly wage a battle to steps things up a few notches.

Time to get some fresh opinions and strategies Laurie! Hope you get some resolution soon and are able to move forward.

I’m meeting a friend for lunch today. We only get to see each other once or twice a year now. We went to graduate school together twenty years ago! The plan is to meet at a crepe place. They do savory crepes so I think I can keep the calories down. An interesting thing about this place is that it’s owned and operated by deaf people. They are growing into a franchise market.

Hi sounds like a wonderful outing today, Yooly! I hope that franchise is a big success for them… Assuming the food is delicious 🙂

I am never good at blowing gaskets… Especially not for myself… Which I can’t help but think it’s a problem we all have… If it feels like I really need someone to go fully ballistic I’ll send you air fair 😁

My friends came by on the weekend with my God Dog and that big beautiful St. Bernard teddy bear who I posted pictures of a while ago. My little girl was getting a bit snippy with that big furry baby and I needed to scold her but I didn’t want to raise my voice so I had to get other people to yell. It was getting pretty funny that I would sit there and stay with someone please yell at laine for me at her for me. I understand her need to keep the upper hand when that other dog was four times her size but still a social visit requires some degree of decorum🙂

I am eating like crap of late again. I have a food day scheduled for tomorrow with a nice brunch and then a food event (The Saucery sponsored by Rao's Homemade brand where they will be showcasing some new products, lots of samples, and then a discount on purchases). After that, I plan on not eating out again until my normal Friday breakfast and tea. Then I will have plans NEXT Sunday to go to Chinatown which will result in some food... but again, back to no eating out.

Really need to work on a meal plan for next week. All I have so far on the plan is a vegetarian bibimbap with a cucumber salad. That's it. So need a few more dinners, an idea for breakfast, and ideas for lunch.

Hmmm..... I love the yell at her for me.

I would be glad to yell for you. I think I too tend to yell for others more than for me, or at least be more comfortable doing so.

But the puppy is right. Can't allow invasive species if she's not in charge.

@Athijade I sympathize on the difficulty of fitting in eating out. That budget magic is difficult to achieve.

Salad, breaded pork chop, & Brussels sprouts. Hubby had a hankering for pork chops. They were thin and trimmed so not too bad.

pork chops without visible fat are actually fairly low cal to very low cal, right? breaded ones... a bit less so I guess

Chops were ruthlessly trimmed by hubby. Light breading and he pan fried in very little oil. Hubby even weighed the pork chops so I could portion control. Nice to have someone who cooks for you!
I would have just made myself some cereal and yogurt. 🥴

It is a fine thing to have someone cook for you.

I write this as this weeks green soup, prepared by those handsome boys, simmers in the kitchen 😁

My sons are so very different in some ways. One brings a six pack of beet/spinach/blueberry/ginger smoothies and organic ingredients to make green soup - the other comes back with two cans of Pepsi (regular and real sugar) for us to do a taste test 🤣 …I feel like the richest woman in the world

Not just for the calories, but the budget. Ran up my credit card with the trips to the emergency vet. Even though they worked with me a LOT to keep costs down, it still wasn't cheap.

Dinner tonight is a very simple chicken, broccoli, and stuffing casserole. I may add form frozen carrots when I add the broccoli to increase the veg a bit. We shall see.

Somehow I missed a couple of posts 😕

I didn’t see your post re your dad’s NP, PAV. Sounds awfully upsetting. Have things settled a bit?

I completely missed (still am) your eating out/budget (calorie&dollar) post, Athijade. That is a double edged challenge for sure. I tend to live on a tight budget do have to dance around the idea of meals out with friends a lot. A very tricky balancing act for sure when mingling with people who have more generous budgets (off both types)

Both budgets are taking a hit these days when it comes to me....

Nothing good in terms of dad himself since he won't accept new medication to replace what the one(s) he was taken off.

Not GREAT in terms of our NP; BUT, BETTER. There has been a major change to her attitude and urgency since dad "outed" himself to her a couple of weeks back. He is normally quite smart about keeping his mouth shut to "strangers' when it comes to what he thinking all day but she managed to get him to blab at least a bit... which (FINALLY) got her 'concerned'

So the casserole has potential. I think a lot of the issues I had with it were due to my own mistakes, including using the wrong size of dish. It took about twice as long to cook as it should have, but again, I think that was due to my choices. I would make it again, but make a few changes to the recipe itself and for sure use the correct dish.

I also canceled my Uber One membership and deleted the Uber Eats app off my phone. Now if I want to get food from somewhere else I either have to (1) go out, (2) walk to pick it up, or (3) order from the restaurant itself if I want delivery (like pizza). So I am hoping this will really cut down on the "I don't want what I planned to make/eat so lets just have something delivered."
