Food inspiration, or what's for supper?

Don't worry Yolly! I play with unsweetened cocoa powder... ....and sucralose 🙀😝0

Yes, I understand unsweetened cocoa powder. I was just thinking of the two other times I’ve experienced spice combinations close to this neither one exact.1

All good intentions went out the window bright and early this morning. For some reason I am a bottomless pit today. Nothing (and lots of it) fills me up or is satisfying.
So I declared it a lost day and went with the nonstop snacks. I can’t figure out why or what triggered this. But tomorrow will be better - I hope without too much damage.2 -
Hope today begins is not quite so much a challenge, Yooly 🤞🏻
Yesterday was another green soup making extravaganza 😁
Younger son came directly from work where he has painting event props, older son in his “all my clothes have paint on them from renovating” wardrobe. Can’t express in words how full my heart was.
Seven jars of green soup in the fridge for the week…several more for friend…some already out in the world 🙂

What fine, loving young men you brought into this world! Just looking at them is better than all the meds on earth. You’re going to get better just having them near you.
I know looking at my own son I’m often overwhelmed with joy. And I wonder how did I get so lucky and not screw up motherhood?1 -
Exactly how I feel, Yooly. ❤️❤️❤️2

Tonight’s supper is green soup! I have every intention of making that my supper every night for this week. Maybe I’ll live it up and add some feta cheese or maybe not until my son goes out and buys us some 🙂 I am feeling very much inclined to get the weight loss / healthy eating regime restarted ASAP. I suppose I shouldn’t be cutting calories yet because making new eye juice probably requires some magical body powers, but too many treats have snuck into my daily menu the past few days from well meaning visitors…2

Hey: do these dudes know how to cook? Did they take the dog out for a walk? They look strong and healthy so I supposed they will do for soup making!!!!!!!!1
-
So far a granola bar and a banana. Who know what continued travel will bring?2
-
The cooking skills are funny. Mike, the older one in the baseball cap is a red seal chef, but he doesn’t cook anymore. When he chooses to he can make the most outrageously delicious food, but he’s not nutrition conscious. Carl, my younger son without the baseball cap is very nutrition conscious but doesn’t really cook. He make smoothies and things.
But they’re together here, using their individual skills to make the legendary green soup 😁1 -
And the pup is being walked regularly by older son, Mike, and friends, coming by to take her out.
I’m not sure when I’m going to be walking not for a couple of days because everything is still weird…
Very good to read your writing, Mr. PAV ❤️2 -
Today is grilled chicken with mashed potatoes topped with cheese and sour cream for lunch and then spaghetti with meat sauce and garlic bread for dinner. I know it is missing veggies, but I am just aiming to actually EAT. Depression makes that hard enough.2

Good job, Athijade. There’s lots of potassium and vitamin C in potatoes. 🙂1

Ate a lot better yesterday. Lunch was a salad kit that needed to be used up. Dinner was a stirfry of chicken, 2 types of mushrooms, and zucchini over rice. It was really good. I'll have leftovers for dinner tonight.2
-
Pretty healthy menu for today, Athijade!
So far today I’ve had a beet, blueberry, spinach, smoothie, a felafel wrap, and I plan on having green soup with feta cheese for supper… but I do have some field greens in the fridge that need to be eaten so I might have a bit of that too???2 -
Mussels and a small salmon taco for dinner. But I had a ridiculously huge breakfast. Thank goodness we did a lot of walking in Spokane today. We leave for home early tomorrow.
It’s going to be a long travel day. Spokane to Las Vegas and connect to Austin. About 8 -10 hours of airport/ flying time combined. And a two hour time difference. Lots of sleep in my future.1 -
It feels like this week has gone so very quickly Yooly!!!1
-
It has gone quickly but there are a few more vacations this year. Besides I need to get back to facing the scale and logging foods. Can’t let the whole vacation mentality take over. It’s a fine line between maintenance and regaining. I could easily revert to eating with abandon! 😱2

Ain't that last bit so much the truth!!!!
My last few days are interestingly random.
Pop Corn I guess has good fiber and can be made to last longer when eaten over extended time by the kernel as opposed to the handful. Some brands have really nice and round engineered popped kernels!
Egg white frittata from Costco (the little round pucks) look puny but are ready in 90 seconds and can be broken into a sandwich/on toast for like 200 Cal snacks. While popping some cherry tomatoes for veg!
Randomly I think I finished a bag of diced carrots 288g and a 750g bag of yellow and green beans and carrots. Dog likes green beans who would have thunk it. There were a couple of mcdoubles (400 Cal) and vanilla cones (about 300 Cal on average unless it looks really small in which case it's closer to the 250 Cal advertised in Canada). And one mcdouble with extra round egg and 3x slivered onion added (475 Cal)
In general normal days, one really high (+1250) a few -2 to -300
And that's about it! 🤷♂️ Oh the previous weekend had a family plate of "appetizer" nachos plus snacks for a +500 range day2 -
Meatloaf, salad, and mashed potatoes. Not the most inspired meal. I’ll go very easy on the potatoes. Hubby likes them well buttered!
Maybe cottage cheese and tomatoes later for dinner.1 -
I still don't get cottage cheese! I found some dry cottage cheese once and it looked a bit more likely but the affair didn't last for more than a couple of "pots"0

I don’t “love” cottage cheese. It’s a convenience thing I keep in the fridge for quick protein. You can mix in veggies or fruit. Cheap and easy and less tart that Greek yogurt. I appreciate the slight textural thing too.1 -
I’m with you on that, Yooly. A great source of protein in no time flat. Lots of calcium toO!0

Hopefully food preferences don’t include a disinfecting spritz of windex! What is it with Greeks and windex anyway?
There was a time in the US when full fat cottage cheese with a side of sugary canned peaches on a bed of lettuce was considered a “diet plate” and offered in most restaurants. Probably more calories than a small burger!1 -
I remember that… But you know I’m always surprised at how few calories there is in sugar… Not the sweet treats with lots of fat just the sugary ones2
-
No joke. Pure sugar cubes or ginger or other sugar crystals actually have remarkably few calories for the taste bud hit. Take Cavendish candy, for example as compared to a nice bar of chocolate1
-
Maybe @Dante_80 could verify if there really does exist a greek saying that contains no windex but says that "when it comes to food preferences... zucchini-pie!" i.e. to each their own! (Περί ορέξεως, κολοκυθόπιτα!)
Confirming.
Also, you should try out some katiki if you can find it over there..much tastier than cottage (not that cottage is bad per se)!
1 -
Would love to try it. But no. Never seen it. Let me re-phrase that... had never seen or heard of it (period)

Google says you can substitute soft feta mixed with Greek yogurt for Katiki. Worth a try?2
