That what I think sachets are too. What types of foods do they have in those sachets? I can take or leave ice cream but I’m with you on chips, grilled cheese and hot dogs. DH isn’t crazy about hot dogs so that’s a once in a blue moon meal for me. I’ve been avoiding the chip aisle lately. I had more than my share of chips during lockdown. I’m fine if they’re not in the house. If I know we have them in the house, they call my name. And I’m the one who buys them, not DH. He can eat a handful of chips and stop. It’s a big trigger food for me.

What's in a sachet? Well, yesterday I had a cheddar biscuit thingie for breakfast, ziti marinara for lunch, spinach cheese penne pasta (or something like that) for dinner, honey mustard pretzels (not sachet LOL! but medifast), and a cinnamon cream cheese thingie. Medifast provides/sells little paper trays to cook a lot of the things in but I just use a bowl sprayed with PAM.

I think the "official" medifast plan includes a "green and lean" dinner meal They also sell some of those but yesterday I just had a packet.

It hit me anew yesterday that I have NO clue how anyone eats ANY of these foods 7 days a week. No wonder these diets fail. I still mix and match ns, medifast/optavia, jenny craig, wonderslim type packets and other high protein foods, and supermarket foods.

Barbecue potato chips are my nemesis, lol. I’ve never been particularly fond of grilled cheese sandwiches, but I do like a chili dog now and then. I’m noticing on my food log that I go over my carb target every day, even though I’m keeping the calories at or below 1200 ever day. I also have been going way over on the sugar target, so I need to examine those 2 areas and see how I can modify my choices to better balance things out. There is so much hidden sugar in foods. It makes it hard to keep that goal.

It is amazing that a person can successfully do 1200 calories a day and still have too much sugar. You're right, the sugar is everywhere.

Love the dog graphic and it’s apropos for me. I decided this morning while I was getting ready to put on makeup and do my hair that I really needed to clean out the drawer where I keep all of that stuff. I don’t even remember when or if I last cleaned out that drawer, so it was a real mess. I figured it would take 10-15 minutes. An hour later I was finished and had a bag full of old makeup to toss. The good news is I kept only the stuff I’m currently using and now have a lot more room in the drawer and can actually see what I need without having to paw through a lot of extraneous stuff first. I may tackle a few more spaces that need to be cleaned and weeded out. With DH gone it’s a good time to do it without him looking over my shoulder and questioning everything I decide to throw out or donate.

I’m down 2.5 pounds from my highest weight, so I’ve made a good start. I know these are the “easy” pounds and it will slow down going forward, but it’s nice to see a lower number on the scale.

Just to get that couple pounds to start is very motivating. It’s not the amount that’s important but the direction you’re headed in.

This is one of the two malls closest to us (like most suburban malls it's dead or dying and even the parking lost is a mess since they are letting trucks park in the lot and have set up spaces where car dealers are storing cars.

Today is the 15th straight day of gloomy weather. Some days had rain and some days just gray. I’m thankful we don’t have a heatwave like the west. But I feel sorry for the people who spent money to vacation here and they got 2 weeks of lousy weather.

This is Tobias. He and his comfort dog friends visited Surfside, FL this week. They brought their “please pet me” vests and handed out mini stuffed comfort dogs, so first responders and families who lost loved ones can continue to receive hugs whenever they need. 15/10 for all

Whenever I absolutely despair over the deplorable black hearts of so many of my fellow countrymen (yesterday, e.g) I see a story like that.

Hospitals in Springfield MO are out of ventilators Rural areas 1-2 hours away who rely on those hospitals have started to offer "discreet vaccinations" to those who don't want friends/neighbors to see them getting vaccinated What the ______ has happened to people?

Pam--You have developed a great plan that will work. A weak part on my part is veggies. I usually drink most of mine.

Helene--Congrats upon your weight loss. Your mentioning gloomy dismal weather reminds me of a week I went to Hawaii and it poured the rain most of the week.

Maryanne--Considering that the St. Louis area is showing an increase in Covid, I would think people would now consider vaccination. There are those who don't think the vaccines make a difference and those who think Covid is a glorified flu, etc.

People should never doubt the healing power of animals. What a gift to those people who have gone through so much grief and heartache. The Surfside situation reminded me so much of how I felt following 9/11. We had high hopes people would be found alive in the wreckage. Like Surfside, there was nobody left alive to find.

There was a story on our news last night about a rural area near where my sister lives where the local Dairy Queen fast food restaurant set up a corner in the back of the room for people to get vaccinations. Afterward they were given a free soft serve ice cream cone. It actually brought out quite a few people. In that area, the vaccination rate is 36%. It’s a big tRump supporter hot zone, so the low vaccination rate isn’t surprising. It confounds me that people have to be bribed to get a free, life-saving vaccination, but that’s the state of the world nowadays.

I’m continuing to try to tweak my diet plan. After logging my food for about 10 days, I’m noticing that I nearly always stay at or below 1200 calories, but I typically go way over the sugar and fat targets. I rarely even come close to maxing out on sodium. I sometimes exceed the protein target, but usually don’t exceed the carb target. And this is really the way I’ve been eating for the past 2 years or longer, so I’m a bit mystified as to why I’ve been gaining weight. I’m trying to concentrate now on reducing the amount of sugar and fat in my diet. We will see how it goes.

That sums up my exercise philosophy. But you have to wonder what kind of person lets their cat get so overweight. It’s not like the cat opens the cans himself.

My vacation is over. DH got home last night, lol!

While I was helping him put away some of the food he brought back last night, my right ankle rolled and I fell, landing hard on my right knee. Today I am very sore all over. My knee is very tender, but no swelling. I think I will have a huge bruise. I fell on the same knee, hitting the same spot, during my trip in May with SIL. It had finally healed and about 2 weeks ago I noticed that it wasn’t tender anymore. I hope this time it heals faster, but I’m not optimistic. I put an ice pack on it for awhile last night and I’m sure that helped keep it from swelling. I may do that again today. A tile floor definitely is not a soft spot to land on!

Pam, that’s so awful about your fall. Did you sprain your ankle when it rolled? Elevate your leg while you ice it.

Helene, I didn’t sprain the ankle. It’s a little sore today, but my knee is much more painful than the ankle. I’ve kept my leg elevated all day. It’s better than it was immediately afterward, but a huge bruise is developing now. It was hard getting comfortable last night to sleep because lying on my side put too much pressure on the sore areas. Of course, that’s the side I prefer to sleep on, so it made it a bit difficult to find a position that didn’t hurt.

Try sleeping on your other side. Put a pillow between your legs so it supports your knee. I have a small rolled pillow that I use for that purpose. It takes the pressure of the sore knee. Maybe that would help. The pillow also keeps you from rolling over on to the bad knee.

I have a knee pillow but I usually find it more annoying than helpful. However, it may be worth a try until the initial soreness fades some.

Pam - ouch! I'm so sorry that you reinjured that same knee. I'm a both sides sleeper (flip about every 2 hours give or take) so when I had the broken arm it was problematic. I'm a big body pillow person. I have one on both sides of me when I sleep and a regular pillow that I hug. Definitely give your knee pillow a try.

The knee pillow lasted about 5 minutes last night before I gave up on it. I wasn’t as uncomfortable last night and actually slept pretty well, despite the tenderness in my knee. The other aches and pains are better as well, so I think I’m going to survive this latest mishap, lol.

    I'm sure that's a relief!!!!

I somehow managed to badly scrape the tops of 2 toes on my right foot, the same one I already limp on sometimes because of the prior broken heel.

    Isn't life fun?
