After one month on Noom, I’ve lost 5 pounds. That’s a good total for me as I don’t lose quickly. On the flip side, I don’t gain that quickly either.

    FANTASTIC!

Good job, Helene! I’m maintaining my 2.5 pound loss, but not progressing yet. I really need to add exercise, but the recent foot problems have made that difficult. Chair exercises don’t raise my heart rate enough to get into a fat burning mode, though they are good for toning and possibly building some muscle.

Yeah, sometimes I get really, really tired of my feet hurting.

Apparently he learned the work "router" but not what it means: Lots of sarcastic tweets about his router mentions. Now he thinks he'll win the election when they go to the states and get the routers? Geesh......

I went on UTube this morning looking for chair exercises. My knees aren’t great and if I get down on the floor, I can’t get back up. I do a ten minute routine for seniors with physical therapists Bob and Brad. A second program followed. The instructor had a cute accent. I think he was from New Zealand. I figured he’d do another 10 minutes. His session actually lasted 36 minutes and it included lots of stretches. I haven’t had a massage in 18 months so I really could use the stretching. I felt pretty good after my 46 minutes of exercise. I plan to do these two programs several times a week and see what results I get.

Helene - That's great that you felt good after the session!

Have you ever looked at strength training? I keep thinking I've GOT to carve out time to get back into this but it hasn't happened yet. I've got the weights and this book but haven't devoted the time.

    Is there any hope left?

Disgraced Trump administration figure Michael Flynn boasted on Sunday that maybe he’ll “find somebody” in Washington with a new assault-style rifle a California church gave him.

Flynn, the former national security adviser pardoned by Donald Trump for lying about his Russia contacts, made the jaw-dropping remark after he was gifted the gun at the “Church of Glad Tidings” in Yuba City, California. Church members roared with laughter and clapped when Flynn suggested hunting humans in the nation’s capital.

    A church? Really?

This is a seriously bad guy. How could he think this was funny? And what kind of church supports violence? Every time you think you’ve heard the worst, someone reaches a new low.
I’ve seen that book in the library. I should check it out. I even have some hand weights that I thought I’d use but never did.

I also have the VHS tape they made to go with that book. I wish I could find the time to get back into it while I can still play it. (Or at least I think I can still play it.) Easy to understand program. I LOVED the strength training machines at p/t. Wish I had it in me to go to a gym to use those machines but at least right now I just don't.

Right now I'm trying to carve out the time to deal with the voice therapy stuff. Just called to make my next appointments. Why oh why does every medical provider's voice mail system have to start with "If you are having a life threatening emergency, call 911". The voice people don't need that for heaven's sake.

Maybe that message is a government mandate. Most people would know to call 911 but maybe there are some who panick and call their doctor instead.

More likely it’s a CYA statement their attorneys have advised them to state. No offense to attorneys, lol.

I'm working and getting the next mailing ready to go to the post office Saturday and starting the next newsletter.

Meanwhile trying to find time to keep trying to decipher the voice therapist's instructions.

Make time for yourself. You health is number 1. Take an uninterrupted 30 minutes to figure out the voice therapy. The newsletter going out a day later won’t have a bad effect on anyone. But losing your voice if you don’t get therapy in is a big deal. I know you tend to put other people’s needs first but you have take care of yourself. Nobody else will do it for you.

    Will do!!!!!Thanks, guys!

I'd already started drinking more water and gave up caffeine and alcohol ages ago. I do have the vaporizer and have started to use that. I've started taking cough medicine (didn't bother before because the cough wasn't bothering me) and trying to use throat spray or cough drop when I feel a tickle (it's hard when I've pretty much just always ignored the cough to the point that ignoring isn't even conscious). I'm doing the Masako maneuver as best I can (yep, that's a thing). I will spend some time this evening on the vocalizations, figuring that out.

I went on amazon to get that photo of the book Strong Women Stay Young. Now my "recommended for you based on your browsing history" starts with this (AI isn't perfect):

Note the subheading "The science of building the perfect male body".

What, you mean you don’t want to build the ultimate male body? I can see this book in your DH’s Christmas stocking. LOL

Evening! I keep forgetting to check in as I don't do anything worth reporting. I'm ready to get a booster shot with the reports of the escalation of the Delta variant infection. I read that Hawaii got 600+ new cases of it either yesterday or the day before.

Getting the booster shot is a good thing. Will you be subbing this fall. I know how much you enjoyed working with the kids and must miss it. I hope school protocols make it safe for you if you decide to go back. Even if you’re not doing anything special, we still love hearing from you.

Went to lunch with a friend today. DH joined us. I’m 4 weeks into Noom and didn’t want to derail myself so I checked the menu online. I had a cup of kale and sausage soup, ate half my grilled chicken sandwich and had a quarter cup pasta salad. I took the other half of the sandwich home. I had unsweetened iced tea with lemon as my beverage. We ate outside on their patio which has expanded since we were last there. It was a beautiful beach day so the shopping center wasn’t very busy. We’ve had weeks of rain and gloom so we timed our visit without a crowd. Afterwards, we walked around the shopping center to get in some steps.

It’s pretty dull around here, too. There are weeks where I don’t leave home at all anymore.

Next week looks to be fairly busy, comparatively. We will be going to happy hour at a friend’s new home on Wednesday and on Friday we will pick up my niece and her husband at the airport. They are spending 1 night with us, then her family will pick them up to spend the next 3 nights with them. They will return to their home in New Jersey on Wednesday just in time for her to go back to work on The Lion King on Broadway getting ready for its reopening. She is a vegan, so I was stressing about what to feed her. My sister told me she said she’s fine at restaurants that offer data and salads, so I think we will go out to an Italian restaurant near us Friday night. Saturday morning I’m planning to make vegan pancakes and bacon for the non-vegans, and homemade blueberry syrup. DH will be leaving early that morning for a camping trip with his college roommate, so he will likely be long gone by the time I’m making breakfast.

I am also ready to take a booster shot if recommended. My second shot made me feel retry bad for about 36 hours, but I’m convinced COVID would make me feel worse. I truly don’t understand all the resistance to the vaccine.
