@kar328 - I hear you on the chronic stress. I just had Dopamine and Seratonin run and both were near zero. Made my doctor kind of concerned but it's not like I can quit going to work.

@JTH11706 - Janet, I'm logging and watching what I'm eating. I'm running a calorie deficit but not by much. I'm supposed to be consuming 1850 Kcal/day (BMR) and I'm usually in the 1700 - 1800 range. I have days where clients will bring in things like Girl Scout cookies and I definitely run over on those days but they aren't that often. I'm thinking Kar may have the right idea and I may have to adjust my Macros a bit but I'll need to get with someone who understands Macros and see what they say. I lost weight last year when I went full Keto, but I really don't want to do that again. I'm a carboholic. Maybe I should attend CA (Carboholics anonymous).

@sufferlandrian My dietitian is priceless to me. I always recommend using one, even just for a one time appointment to double check things. Some insurance cover a few visits even without a diabetes diagnosis. I love my carbs too, and with PCOS it's been an issue. But my dietitian is not willing to say no bagels since she knows how much I love them (NYer). We just compromise and it's weekends only.

As for the chronic stress, I'm curious to see what the numbers say and if my long term nursing career is affecting my health. I'll admit to being burned out for a long time now and would really like to give it up, so this may be the push I need.

3 miles on the treadmill since it's still cold rain here.

OK, I got a friend request and when I look, it's a gal with a user name Alexahow224. Can't think of anything we have in common. Even on MyFitnessPal I can't get away from spam requests. :frowning:

@Dean: I think many of us are in the same situation. Unless I am running, I no longer seem to burn the calories like I use to. I am back at weight loss and some times the body adjusts to what we do day in and day out. Throw it some curveballs. I know for you, it has to be more difficult because you have so much on your plate and time is very precious. I found when exercising, biking walking or running, my body would quickly adjust to me doing the same thing. So I changed the routine. I ran up and down hills one day, I reversed my route, I biked a different route if possible. Also, your body goes into what is called a panic state when it is suddenly thrown a reduction in calories. It thinks it is starvation,..haha. I laugh because I am far from starving. And it shuts down. So it takes time as Janet says when you plateau, for the body to start losing. I, like her have gone weeks doing the same thing and not losing. I also believe the theory, eat like a king for breakfast, eat like a prince for lunch and eat like a peasant for dinner. That may be hard when you are working such long shifts under stress. My hubby and never eat any big meals later in the day. We usually have a salad at this time. Also, I tell people when asked what is my secret to weight loss and I say, it patience. It does not come on over night, and it takes time to come off safely and for one to keep it off. It is a life change and not a diet. You go on and off diets but a life change, you make permanent.

Also muscle burns more calories than fat and with me not getting to a gym for months has been an issue. I use hand weights or some resistant bands to do some strength training, I spend days hauling mulch, dirt and turning compost spring, summer and fall, but it is not covering all the muscle groups. So perhaps concentrate on some core exercises. Like holding a plank for a longer length of time. It is far better than any curl up exercise and even push ups.

When in doubt, pump fluids. I went back to my water container and made sure I was downing the fluids. Maybe hard to do when you are doing a long surgery. But keep it visible to remind you that you need to be doing it.

I know my teaching job was stressful and my colleagues have gone through the roof since the Covid outbreak. Taking care of my dad, two I’ll dogs and work was rough. I have to say much of that was taken off my plate. Not having my siblings any longer to support and help me with my dad’s things has Ben pretty horrible. So I don’t dwell on it and when it comes to mind, I ask the Lord to remove it and he does.
Finally, while as a Christian I don’t believe in meditation for Biblical reasons, I do work on my heart rate with breathing and thinking on lovely things. My meditation is prayer. I find my communing with the Lord decreases my stress and anxiety by putting my trust in him, I find stopping and reflecting on all that He has done for me greatly helps.
Here is one of my favorite verses that I reflect on.
    Philippians 4:8
    Think on These Things
8 Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy--meditate on these things.

Let’s continue to support and encourage each other on our desire to be healthier and physically fit. I am here to encourage anyone along the way. I know others will too.

Adding 8 miles. My hubby and I were on the mend over the weekend and we took it easy. Ramping up for two storms coming in today. Possible 11 inches of snow. I will be out walking, snow blowing and shoveling out neighbors.

Went for a long walk this morning before the snow starts. I'm surprised at how well I've done in the cold but I'm glad I'll be heading back south soon. Weather permitting. We have several storms to dodge this week. Stay safe and warm. 43/50

I appreciate the support guys. It helps. I've been working extra shifts so the other vets could have time off. I put in 120 hours last week and 100 the week before. For those doing the math, there are 168 hours in a week so no I didn't work them all. You guys are correct. Winter and getting off schedule and doing the same routine over and over are exactly what I'm doing. I really do appreciate the insight. I'll see what happens starting this coming week when I'm down to 60 hours and I'll get back to doing weights in addition to riding my bike. Besides, the weather is supposed to improve with temps back in the 30's instead of single digits for highs so I can change things up a little.

@Dean, winter is always the hardest for me, too. You can do this. I know you can. There is some great advice here.

Today we finally got above zero!! We traveled both days over the weekend to watch the grandsons wrestle. Sat was -27 & Sunday was -31 & that was WITHOUT windchill!! I bundle up to get some walking in because I know its not only good for me but also for my dog "Georgie". He does NOT like to go very far when its that cold. LOL My treadmill's speed sensor is acting up & I have one on the way. It would just stop. Clear your data & I'd have to start over & then it'd do it again! Very annoying! I have moved by walking & the ex bike & here is my total = 51 mtd. I better pick it up because Feb is a short month!! With the cold my classes have been low but I think tomorrow will be back to normal!! I'd shovel for exercise but right now we have very little snow! It's been a DRY winter!!

I am struggling with my weight too. Put back 25 lbs this past year. I think a lot of it is almost zero outdoor activities. The stress of self quarantine for the past 11 months really takes a toll on weight. I don't burn calories the same way on a trainer as I do riding outdoors. Depression sure does not help either.

As crazy as this sounds, I'm glad I'm not the only one struggling with winter weight this year. We are supposed to get up to 32 for a high today. We are like the Riviera of Montana. Perfect for taking the dogs out with the Fat Tire.

@sufferlandrian - You totally aren't the only one. I've gained almost all of the weight I lost in the past year. Between COVID and depression it's a real struggle.

Was finally able to go outside with hubby for a hike/walk. It has been horribly cold, and, starting today, it's finally warming up.
