Sometimes I have to laugh at myself. I am so strongly goal oriented. I track my exercise miles on Garmin, and they provide a number of challenges that users can join. This month I joined a challenge to run 50 miles in the month of February. Normally this would be a small stretch goal for me, but nothing crazy. Except that I spent two weeks up north where I only ran once because of the ice and snow. When I got back I found myself staring at about 40 miles to go in 10 days. I don't normally run every day, and my normal short run is only 3 miles, so this wasn't a slam dunk. But I couldn't bear to fail, so I did several consecutive 6 milers. Right now I have 9 miles left with 3 days to go, so "all" I have to do is 3 more short runs, which I'm pretty sure I'll complete. I'm shaking my head at myself. Who cares if I don't complete some silly challenge on Garmin, and yet I couldn't let it go. Just goes to show again, it's all in our heads. Who else is stupidly driven to hit their goals - LOL?
By the way, I'm at 78/50 on my MYAC goal - which includes walking as well as running.4 -
@Janet: That is so me! I have to finish what I start. I am conditioning one out of shape body to run again and I am feeling muscles I forgot all about. Every day I try to go further and faster. I just cannot let it go. My husband tracks me on my road ID and he laughs at me when I get back. I was only doing 2 or 3 miles and I am up to 4.25. It is crazy insane what goes on in ones head. Or maybe it’s just runners.
Adding 5 walking miles. Had to give my sore muscles a rest.
TTD: 145 miles

Yeah Janet I am like that with most things. I will do that with challenges & if I start a project at home I will try to finish it that day or stay up most of the night to try! Yes CRAZY! My husband says I obsessive!!! When I say I will do it, I will do it!! Today I got in 6 from ex bike & 2 on foot!! Puts me past my goal. 105 of 100.3

@janet.- cyclist do it also. I have learned over the years after cycling went from fun to an obligation that sometimes you have to let it go. However, that doesn’t stop me from thinking, “ if I just ride an extra 9 miles each day I could hit ....” 😂. I had to laugh when I read your post and all the others about making goal because I can see myself doing the same things. 😉😁3

Now boarding the GOAL train....@LEANZ, @MICHELLEG1965, @SUFFERLANDRIAN, and @VHUBER!!!
@LIBI_KK - Hang in there! Spring is coming and that should help bunches!
@LAMLAMSMAKEOVER - Sweet! Post a pick of the bike when you get a chance. New toys are fun!
@JANET - Too bad you can't transfer some of your "extra" MYAC miles over to your Garmin challenge!
Have a great weekend, everyone! Hope the weather will be nice wherever you are!

Hubby actually brought my bike in the house temporarily instead of putting it in the garage for some reason. It's a Specialized Allez and it's so light!! I ordered a new helmet (orange) so I will be very visible. My old helmet is ancient and probably not safe anymore. I'm keeping my old 25-year-old hybrid Giant brand bike for the gravel trails and for hooking up the tag-along attachment when my niece grows into it.
I can't wait to ride it! Just waiting for it to get a little warmer3 -

@lamlamsmakeover: I love your new bike. So exciting!
Well I am sneaking in under the radar this month after a pinched nerve in my shoulder and compressed lumbar disc. I am finally feeling decent again. I managed to get a 4 and 3.5 Mile walk/run in this week. And I dropped another pound. Woo! Woo!
Feb.26: Adding 6.1 miles of a walking and walk run.

And that's GOAL for @clepant @k80flec and @cpanus! Way to go!
I'm glad I'm not the only nut in this group. At least I think I am - would it be better if I went and found some saner friends - LOL? And by the way, I'm on track to complete my Garmin challenge tomorrow with a final 3 mile run. But there's a whole new list of March challenges I can choose - hee hee.3 -
