HOW IT ALL WORKS:
Every challenger weighs in on their chosen day, every week without fail! At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!
We also track those small, steady losses with the Green Week count. If you lose, however small an amount, it counts for 1 week in the green. At the end of the month we celebrate everyone who lost every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard!
To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:

Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):
If you need a week off, a break, a change of weigh-in day - just ask your Captains here on your team chat page. If you take a break, you are moved to the Support Team. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions and weigh in if you want to, but your weigh-ins will not be counted on the weekly tally. If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to ask if you are travelling, sick, or just needing some time off.
Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You need support to maintain, and you can help your teammates join you. You continue to weigh in every week, and if you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!
In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.
Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

Hi all and welcome to the Downsizers February team chat! My name is Linda and I am one of the team captains. My counterpart is the amazing Megan @Megan_smartiepants1970. Ziortza @Z10Rtza and Tanya @litterflutterby are our wonderful team motivators.
I am originally from Newfoundland but I live in Southwestern Ontario. I am 56 years old, married, retired due to a disability and have 3 adult children. I also have 3 beautiful granddaughters. Hayley and Norah live in Ontario but little Stella lives in Scotland. I have 2 cats, one named Nick and the other Lady.
I struggled with my weight since the birth of my son 33 years ago. So I have been overweight most of my adult life. I started my weight loss journey in February 2019 and have been with F2F ever since. I can’t believe it has been 2 years. I was under a lot of stress for over 4 months and unfortunately gained over 25 pounds. I have binge eating disorder and the stress triggered the binges. January was a restart. I ended the month with a small loss but that’s a beginning. I walk normally for exercise but that has been sidelined due to nerve pain. My new apartment has an exercise room and a pool so once lockdown is over I will be making use of them.
February goals
1. Sleep minimum 7 hours a night.
2. 4000 steps daily
3. Drink 100 ounce water
4. Stay within my calorie average for the week
5. Track and measure every bite that goes in my mouthHousekeeping
Weigh In
We will post a weigh in reminder every day. The format for posting your weight is in the team chat introduction above. If you can’t weigh in durning a particular week, please let me know ahead of time.
Daily Check In
Checking in daily is important. It is the key to making the group work for you. You can do this is any format you want. Things you may want to report could include calories, exercise, water intake, goals or anything you want to share. Share your successes with the team, any struggles or questions you may have.
Step Challenge
Megan takes care of the step challenge. If you want to participate let her know.
Other Resources
On the main page of our group you will find many resources. This is where you will find the idea lounge, recipe sharing, weekly challenges and the habit tracker.Please take time to introduce yourself as it is fun to get to know your teammates!1 -

I am on a weekend challenge for Christy who is a new MFP friend so I pushed myself with my steps yesterday. Frankly, my knee is a bit sore, but I have to go out today and do as best as I can! Saw my sister for a walk. She was her typical wacky self! Absolutely, ZERO filter so everything just flows out! Just brutally honest, but I kind of think it's funny!
WELCOME to our new people.
I'm sure you will have an amazing experience!4 -
INTRODUCTIONl
Hi My name is Laura (AKA Lelbarou)
I am from and live in Toronto.
I have been in the group pretty much since I started on MPF nearly 3 months ago.
It has been an amazing support system and experience which I'm sure you will enjoy!
I am very overweight and was getting more and more health issues as a result
of my weight: knee issues, breathing issues etc etc.
My goal is to get into a healthy BMI zone and get as fit as I can to have a longer, happier and healthier life!
Let's DO THIS! WE CAN and WILL get this done TOGETHER!4 -
Hey everyone quick check in. I know I already posted my intro but I thought I’d add a little update. Yesterday was my official weigh in day and even tho I did have a loss for the week, I was feeling a little disappointed because I had actually done better earlier in the week. I’ve been working out for 2 weeks now and had a gain last week due to water retention from muscle pain but that’s gone now and I guess I was expecting a big loss for the week. Anyway I totally let this play with my head, to the point of making myself physically ill. I spent my day eating like a jerk, sleeping, and had lots of dizziness from all the crap food I ate. I’m a bariatric patient so some foods make me very ill. (Dumping syndrome). Anywho I woke up this morning as weighed in 2 Lbs heavier than yesterday. I’m so disappointed in myself. I worked so hard for 2 weeks and it only took one day of stupidity to bring me back to where I started.
I was so angry and frustrated but I got my gym bag and went straight to the gym to let out my frustration. I must learn to not turn to food when I’m feeling down or upset. This is my worst habit and so far it’s been the hardest to change.
Anyways, that’s all. Sorry for venting and thanks for taking the time to read me ❤️8 -

Hey everyone! I just joined the group and am super excited about it. My name is Emily and I live in Colorado. I’m 36 and a single mom to the most amazing 2 little girls who are 4 and 5 (they are 11 months apart), a ragamuffin cat and in a few months a German shepherd will be joining our family. I’m a serial starter on MFP and am really hoping this group will help me stay on track and accountable.6

I received a couple of requests to re-post my comments from last month but I was a little concerned that it was too heavy so instead I'm going to just include a bit of the same sentiment as a response to the Team Feedback request from January for the new February team members.
What did you gain from being a member of the team?
Although I pretty much only post to The Downsizers Team chat weekly, I do read others posts almost every day as it provides a sense of community against a loss of the social connections we had in the 'normal times.' I count myself lucky in that while I've not lost anyone close to me, I have a team member who's only daughter passed two weeks ago and I have friends and neighbors that have lost jobs after years of loyalty to the companies they invested their time and energy supporting.
We're a varied group in terms of our ages, genders, races, backgrounds, places we call home, etc. but we all share a strong desire to better ourselves. By way of introduction, I'm 52 and want to be around long enough to enjoy retirement (+/- 7 more years to go but who's counting ), travel internationally again, and see my 4 kids grow up and start having families of their own.
It's personally motivating to see others progressively achieving success in little ways, day by day or week by week. It's also reassuring to know I'm not alone when I hear about others challenges and recognize that from time to time we give in to weakness or experience setbacks. The benefit of being part of the Downsizers Team is that we're here to celebrate each others achievements and lend support when one of us falters or just has a 'bad scale day.' Losing weight is not impossible, but it is hard. We just need to remember that hard is not the same as impossible and we just need to keep trying.
By joining the Downsizers team it's really brought into focus why I'm trying to get in better shape and lose weight. I've really been thinking a lot about the bigger picture stuff ...- Why is it important to take better care of myself (what am I really living for)?
- What makes me happy?
- How hard am I willing to work to achieve my goals but still enjoy life (I'm not going to give up everything - what's the point if you miss out on all the fun stuff)?
- What is my plan to handle failure?
What can we do to make the team better?
I liked the idea of the steps challenge on the side but was concerned that I wouldn't log in everyday so I decided to hold off joining however I may reconsider since I am finding myself logging on frequently. I've been exploring a few other self challenges (Eat the Rainbow, Darebee Monthly Challenge, Daily Active Minutes) but am trying to not get over-ambitious and burn-out quickly however if others are interested in doing something beyond steps, I might be game.5 -
Hi all! I'm Ashley, a 33 year old wife and mother of 2. We have a 2 year old girl and 5 year old boy. I live in Nebraska. I've been a part of this group since August.
I've been up and down the scale many times in my life but this is going to be the last time. I've never made it this low on any previous attempt, and haven't been my current weight since I was 12. My current journey began 4/17/20 and I've lost 83 pounds.
My parents just joined MFP recently to try it out too so that's been fun. It's actually been helping me to keep going strong. Some days I can feel myself getting complacent after coming so far, like feeling like I don't need to workout. Food wise I'm ok though. We've been making lots of new recipes lately and it's been great. Most of them have been very tasty. I follow a mostly primal diet while counting calories and doing intermittent fasting. My diary is open to friends and everyone can feel free to add me!5 -
We have 1 more heading our way .... Please welcome @blueberryyogi4

Daily Post January 30
Tracked Yes
Under Calorie Yes
Water 108oz
Steps 9002
Exercise 20min Arm/Shoulder Lift & 33min
Walk/Jog on Treadmill
Got the main area of my house all cleaned, did dishes, and folded laundry. Wasn't really planning on cleaning a bunch but once I started I just kept going. It flabbergasts me how dirty the wall at the breakfast nook gets. And I never realise just how bad it is until I'm sitting on the floor scrubbing it. We all pretty much sit at the counter whenever we eat and with a 2 and 5 year old who put their feet on the wall, it won't stay clean long.

My name is Dawn, I am 59, hoping to get down to 140 before I turn 60 in July. Of course hope is not a strategy.
I have a fitted dress I might try to wear so better work on my plan of attack. Grandmother of two, one son, husband, dogs, horses, outdoor person but have a super sedentary job with long hours each day. Movement is my most difficult challenge.
My son is getting married in Feb, hence scary trip with COVID still lurking. May reception for my son if we can gather a crowd, Bday in July, so tons going on this year to help encourage me to get into shape.3 -

@COscorpio8402, Welcome Emily! This a great, supportive group and I wish you success on your health journey.
Hi, I am Deb, a 5'7", 57 y.o. kidney/transplant recipient. I am currently Stage 4 chronic kidney disease. My health and weight have not prevented me from living my dreams. I have been zip lining, hot air ballooning, tandem sky-diving and owned 4 horses. My dreams for the future include participating in the Insane Inflatables race, axe throwing, trampolining, learning archery and if I ever save up the money, to drive an exotic car in the Xtreme Xperience and to see a Chicago Bulls game.
Currently, I walk(weather permitting) and do beginner weight training. I am teaching myself to play acoustic guitar. Was given my boyfriend's guitar after he died of Covid in December.5 -
Please let me know if you want to be added, removed,excused from our Step Challenge ...Thank you1

@lelbarou
Amazing steps! It is great that you are challenging yourself. Take care of your knee.
@mari_moulin
Emotional eating is something a lot of us experience and is definitely a tough one. I am glad you took charge today and went to the gym. It is so easy to let a bad day of eating to snowball into two days, a week or even a month.
@jimboden3
Thank you for your post. You have some really good points. The questions you ask yourself is something we all need to reflect on. As for the step challenge, I am sure Megan would be ok if you post them every few days or even weekly as long as she has all of them by Sunday. Thank you for all the ideas.
@DawnCumm
I will update your weight. I am very jealous of your Jamaica trip. I hope you enjoy the trip. I will note you are missing weigh in on the 13th. If you are going to miss more than that day let me know. I am also jealous of your horses. I haven’t been on one since I was 16 but would love to again.
@Tazaria87
Well done on those goals yesterday.

Hi everyone! My name is Nathan. I live in Pennsylvania in the United States with my wife, three daughters (ages 14,10, and 8), and my five year old golden doodle. I am an assistant principal in a public high school. Prior to that, I was an orchestra teacher for 17 years. I am looking to lose 16 lbs by being intentional about what goes into my body and by exercising (mostly yoga and walks with my dog). I also ran in the past but the extra weight had made that a bit more challenging lately.
I look forward to getting to know you all here and encouraging each other to be our healthiest!5 -

Yesterday’s eating left something to be desired. I gave in and took the pain medication that does give me a small bit of relieve unfortunately it makes me ravenous. The positive was I stopped before it turned into a binge. Progress!
Sunday is going to be my relaxation day. After having the kids last week, I am tired. I have to finish laundry and wash the floor but anything else can wait until during the week.
I hope you enjoy the last of you weekend!4 -
The Green Challenge Percentage of people who lost weight this week. No matter how small the loss the weights are recorded in green. Remember that even if your team doesn’t rank the highest in weight loss for the week you can still be the Green Percentage winner by having the most losses in your team! So keep it up!!
