good evening everyone. happy pre friday late night.
@lindamtuck2018 have a wonderful flight and enjoy your time over there. best wishes for everyone's health.
check in for 9/2:
steps - 13117
calories 1350. to low for my taste, but i don't want to eat more.
exercise - 5.8 mile walk in 1:51. i started out good, with solid overcast. half a mile into it the sun came out and all of the overcast burned off. luckily it wasn't to hot today, but i was wearing sweat pants instead of gym shorts. wound up with 257 exercise minutes for the day. part of that was me standing while cooking. i got my pulse up to 120 while not moving.
i made white chocolate/walnut fudge today. no added sugar. i added the calories from the ingredients and it came to 133 calories per piece. just 5 ingredients - white chocolate chips, sweetened condensed milk, butter, vanilla extract, walnuts. melt in the microwave, add extract and nuts and pour into dish and chill. almost fool proof. i was worried it wasn't proof enough for me. lol2 -

I challenge you do do the spin class. The only way to become confident at something is to just do it.

Another day another killer workout! Got up at 4:30 am to be at the gym by 5 home by 7 for school drop off. I might continue this way rather than going after school drop off cause I really enjoy working out with my GF. The only thing I won’t be able to do is IF as I am always ravenous after a workout. I won’t be able to wait til lunch to eat. May will do 8-4 pm eating period instead and skip dinner. I’ll see if it’s doable for me.

Sorry! I made my list for the week of everyone’s weigh in day and at the time there was an error on the spreadsheet at the time. I should have been like Santa and checked my list twice.1 -
Hi all! I will try to do a small check in on Sunday or Monday. Have a great weekend all!4

Good Evening Everyone...
I'm just going to say it... I'm having a hard time.
I wasn't sure what it was these last three days or so... I'm still not entirely sure what it is. I just haven't been feeling motivated. I've been quick to temper. I certainly haven't been my normal jovial self. Now don't get me wrong, I haven't been right miserable either. But I'm just not seeing the cup as half full at the moment.
I've literally been staying away from MFP for days now, heck I barely even glanced at Instagram.
It's just something has been off. I haven't been full of excitement lately. And I guess maybe that's okay? Maybe that's what I'm dealing with...?
I've been working so hard since January, and I've been working steadily harder.... Diet was pretty much aced since January... Quit Smoking in April, started walking the next day... Started weight lifting on May 24... and am close to practically doubling my strength most lifts soon... Add boxing, added longer cardio sessions.... Added weekend hikes. (another coming up tomorrow). And I haven't been silly either, As I do more work I generally eat more. I pay close attention to the amount of protein I eat and overall calories.
The whole time it's been pretty exciting... But I've been doing this for 8 months now. At some point all of it is going to become normal... Normal Life.
But I still try... I put a ton of research into my weight training... And for the most part, every adjustment I make thus far has proven to pay dividends almost immediately (even today "LEGS"). I successfully rehabbed a pretty acute shoulder strain/tear and got stronger during the rehab; I've put equipment in place to protect myself. Every single week we get stronger sometimes surprisingly so.
So, I'm searching for something else to try and stay excited.... I got this medicine ball rebounder on order (hopefully it will arrive in 2 weeks)... And Everlast had a 25% off sale on all their inventory "Last days of Summer Event", so I snagged a hell of a deal on 4 Slam balls of various weights with free shipping on top of it. Heck I even got what's called a "Double End Bag"... Which is essentially a different kind of boxing bag that is 9" in diameter (or smaller if you're a pro) and you hang it by a bungee cord to the same place you would the heavy bag, and then you also tie it down to the floor with another Bungee cord. Basically, this thing moves like crazy when you punch it, so it's all about Pacing, Rythm, and timing your shots. Heck this bag can even punch you back... (It's not for power shots... that's the Heavy bags job). I encourage you guys to google it.. you may like it.
Heck, I'm even considering getting a 100lb slam ball, just for taking outside my front door, so I can pick it up and toss it over my shoulder over and over again till I can't do it anymore. (it's a thing).
Or maybe I need to stop looking for new exciting ways to sweat? Perhaps I should get use to the same sort of stuff day to day... Maybe it's okay to not having something new and exciting? (Winter is coming though so options!)
I've been so consistent at losing every single week with exception of the 2 weeks I started walking and the first week of weight lifting and in both cases I knew for a fact I would stall so it was never really a setback. Could it be that being successful has lost its luster? If I'm a little bummed out now, when I literally haven't had a bad week in forever, how am I going to feel when I do hit a stumbling block?
Oh frig... I still don't know what's up exactly. Could it be that we have a huge party to go to with about 50 people I never met before tomorrow? Yes, that might be part of it too?
So yeah.. I'm still not sure what it is. Or what's going on. But it was Leg day today... AND MY GODNESS that turned out to be a bright spot of the day.
So back on topic of training...
Seriously Fridays aren't cool... I do dread the Leg day, and the first exercise... HEX BAR DEADS! But apparently the extra Leg work on Tuesday is already paying off. I moved up to 280 pounds, and I actually got all 10 reps in the second set. I *kitten* you not though, by the 7 rep I could see my heart beat in my eye's the room would literally shutter with a pulse. My heart beat spiked from 90 to 146 in literally 40 seconds. I only hit 8 reps on the first set, but I honestly mentally quit on it, the strength was there but my mind wasn't in it. Hit 8 in the final set too, but this time I did all I could and that last one was a slow rising killer.
It leaves me wondering if my heart is limiting me more than my back and legs... Would it be a good idea to try and jump up to 300 pounds next week? And shoot for 5-6 reps and hope to max out my strength before my lungs want to jump out of my chest? Would this possibly make me dread leg day less, cause honestly, I worry about it in the back of my mind, and I sure don't look forward to going home. And I'm not sure that's healthy? Yet I'm proud of myself after a successful workout. I don't know what I'm going to do next week just yet, but I'm definitely going up.
Anyhow, the rest of the workout was pretty darn good too, and I actually felt pretty good once we got past the deadlifts....
Well, that's it.. Oh, i accidently paused my workout, and lost like 25 minutes of calorie burn... but meh.
Oh, and here's another proof that something is off... I don't even care that I didn't use a single emoji in this post. 😛
Alright... Hopefully I'll feel like my usual self soon.... Or is that what is actually happening? GRRRRRrrr I just don't know... *kitten*!
Kay good night. 😉

@Poobah1972 I'm sorry you're feeling less motivated. I wish I had answers for you. Sadly, all I have is commiseration. I'm on a very similar timeline to yours and I've also been in a slump when it comes to excitement/motivation in similar ways. I think it may just be burnout, for me anyway. It's hard to be excited when it's just another day of the same. Exercise, weigh out all the food then log it (ughhhh I'm very burnt out on weighing and logging.)
Idk man, but I hope it gets better for you.
I think framing it as just getting used to it being normal is good. That's what this is supposed to be right? Our new daily habits?
For me, I'm going to take some of the suggestions I got for reducing the logging and see how I do. It's supposed to be a training tool - so I'm going to see if I'm trained well enough to carry on just being mindful.
Good luck. Please continue to keep us posted.3 -
@Poobah1972 kinda feeling the same as well, I have a bike challenge this month to bike 100 miles for cancer to keep me going and fresh new things...maybe we could start some challenge on here for those who need extra help to keep things fresh? it could be anything exercise or food or sommit else? I saw one which was climb a mountain ...but doing it on stairs or a steps or hills etc I might do that soon ..just some thoughts?2

9/2:
Steps: 4126
Floors: 8
Calories Burned: 162
Daily Intensity Minutes: 9
Total Intensity Minutes: 190/150
Busy, but great day. Not as much movement as I would have liked. Just how it goes for yesterday, and today (which I will report tomorrow.)
@lindamtuck2018. You asked me a couple of days ago about intensity minutes. Basically, 150 minutes a week of moderate, or 75 minutes of vigorous exercise (https://www.hsph.harvard.edu/obesity-prevention-source/moderate-and-vigorous-physical-activity/) is what is recommend, by various sources, as the minimum. There are many sources other than the one mentioned above. Garmin will actually separate the moderate from the vigorous😉. I just report the total.
Please be well
😊

Thought I would share...👀
ETA: With just over 55% of the entire State vaccinated, and the alert level being high, it is what it is.
Hubs and I have been fully vaccinated since February and March, respectively. And, yes, we are entering the drawing...

Happy Saturday Team!
Super excited today! I completed my 8 week C25K program this morning! It took me longer than 8 weeks as I had to repeat a few weeks but it’s done now. This will have been my 4th time completing this running program. I find it hard every time but I also get better and faster each time i do it. I won’t be restarting it for awhile as I will be having surgery on a few weeks. I’ll start again when I’m given the green light to start working out again.
Now to enjoy a relaxing afternoon. Pool time!

Yay! I'm so pleased with this loss! I'm feeling encouraged in a way I haven't before when trying to lose weight in the past. I'm enjoying working out and eating/cooking more at home.
My hubby and I are doing a quick road trip today to Carlsbad Caverns and so we will be going out to eat several times. I want to enjoy myself but not go too overboard. Hopefully I'll get lots of steps in touring the caves. And it should be HOT so I booked a hotel with an outdoor pool. There will probably be ice cream...

Hard week adjusting to the earlier wake-up time with my daughter back in school...got under 5 hours of sleep each night and when I wake up tired like that I feel super hungry and not in the frame of mind to make the best choices. So that is reflected in the big gain this week. Taking this weekend to refocus on my goals and catch up on some much needed sleep. Looking forward to a BIG loss on next week's weigh-in!2 -
