Good morning afternoon or evening for Susan
We still have power. It’s snowing still & to last till 3AM Monday. Crazy. All under ice.
They tell people to stay home unless have to get out.
Our football team, KC Chiefs, got stuck trying to get off at KCI. They play Denver Broncos today. They finally got off at 5. They were to get off at 3.
Mahomes & T Kelce will not play.
Linda. Hope you can do something special. Prayers daughter gets better. Prayers you don’t have those dreams. Wonder why. 🙏🙏
Harry’s staying home today. Tomorrow is his biggest home but not till PM.
Susan prayers for you all family & yourselves. With asthma. Humidity. And diabetes too.
Judith. Hope you have a good week as it is getting closer to when you see the surgeon. Plus wisdom for them to help you.
Would you like a copy of the potato soup recipe? It’s made in a crock pot it is rich.

Barb - Lovely picture of the family. It sounds like the storm has hit your area. I do agree that you need to take rests between shoveling especially if it is a heavy snow. Heart issues as well as back issues are common injuries. I am praying for safety and warmth for you all.
Susan - Praying for you as well as your son and D-I-L.
Judith - I hope you got some good rest last night. Glenn slept for twelve hours last night and says his eyes feel better today. They get so tired with his reading as well as just trying to have both eyes focus correctly. My dreams were much better - thanks for the prayers.
We just came back from a long walk today. It was 54F (12.2C) outside so a nice temperature with a sweatshirt for warmth.1 -
Barb, the soup recipe would be nice to have. Maybe Judith could use it if she blended it too. Thank you for praying for us. I sure am praying you stay safe in thevstorm. How do you stay warm if the power goes out? I remember putting boxes of food outside in the cold if we lost power to our fridge in Northern Canada back in the 1960s.
Linda, I was going to recommend a video showing the difference between Australian and British English but could not find one without swearing in it. Our accent is different to the British. Have you ever seen Crocodile Dundee? Mick's accent is more pronounced Australian than most. We always can tell if someone is British. They say their words differently. One of the main things is, they pronounce double 't' as a 't', but we substitute with a 'd' quite often. Many over here can't tell the difference between Canadian and US accents either but I can, having lived in all three countries. Australians can have 'posh' accents, general accents or very broad, depending on where they are from. I would say I have a general accent. Some people still pick that I was originally from the US. It tends to be more obvious when I am tired or stressed! Accents are interesting.
Judith, glad you checked in then decided to rest. I hope your Sumday was lovely. Ours was. Pastor have us a message about hope and faith. Our song service was lovely, full of old, traditional hymns. 🥰

I looked for the recipes chat & I can’t find it. Or should I place the recipe here? Thank you.
Have a great day all stay warm.
Susan you stay cool. Drink the water all.0 -
I posted in the Healthy Recipes thread for you, Barb. It should be in today's feed now.1

Here is our house after clearing the driveway to, give you an idea of all the snow we got.
We got 11.6”.
We got a lot of snow in one day & only 2 other times we had lots of snow in one day. So the other 2 times were in 1962 & 1900.

Wow Barb, that's lots of snow!1

All the Christmas decorations are down and ready for storage for another year. The house looks very bare without the tree and all the other things I had out. Of course every day should be a celebration of his life and love. I just bought a new calendar that is called "Blessings" that has beautiful pictures an a scripture verse for the month. It is a good reminder that we are blessed every day - we just need to look around for it. I enjoy putting my gratefulness in the thread on Marilyn's group.
Barb - Denver was supposed to get at least 6 inches of snow today. I have not heard what the total was yet since I am not there. I think this is another storm other than the one you had. I pray this one misses you this time since you have plenty of snow right now. Thanks for posting the potato soup recipe. Putting it in the crock pot would be a time saver on a busy day.
Susan - thanks for sharing about the different accents. That is really interesting. I went to school in Kentucky and my roommate had a very thick southern accent. When I went home for breaks, my family said I sounded like her from must being around her.1 -
Linda. You were busy putting away Christmas. It can be a job especially the tree.
Susan. Interesting about accidents. Thank you.
There is quite a few in just the USA alone. I have an accent, but I tell them out here having been born in PA, one of the first 13 colonies I think I don’t have the accent MO & Kansas can’t say that. I have a Philadelphia accent & the Declaration of Independence was signed in PA Philadelphia. I’ve been to, Independence Hall so I don’t think I have the accent.
The accents are interesting. When I was at Moody I had a room mate & I was Bob for the semester. & not Barb as she was from Boston.
Judith. Praying for you.1 -
Barb, I enjoyed reading about all the accents and about the room-mate you shared a room with who called you “Bob” for the semester, you said she was from Boston. My Brother is from Boston, born in Toronto like me but went to the USA on a Hockey Scholarship and Attended the University of Boston. He later majored in Business and met and married his wife and had 3 children. He is now an American citizen holding Dual Citizenship! Thank you for sharing the picture of your home and all the snow you got. That was mega snow for you and Harry to shovel. Glad you both are being careful with taking rest periods in between shovelling all that snow. Love your house, sure is a big home. it’s lovely!
Linda, glad you got all your Christmas decorations down. A big job. I agree the house does look bare with tree and decorations put away. I love Calendars you are describing with Scripture verses on each month and encouraging words of Blessings. This year I bought a calendar from Dr David Jeremiah. Each month has a beautiful Picture and a theme for the Month, January’s Theme is: Victory Through Christ and the Scripture Theme for January is Philippians 4:13. Each Day has a Bible Reading for us to Study; This year the Calendar takes us through the Bible in One Year!
Susan, thank you for posting the Healthy Potato Soup in our Recipe Thread for 2025. And you are right I will make the recipe and put it through my Blender with extra liquid so I can drink the Soup from a Mug! And thank you Barb for thinking of me and all of us!
Thank you all for your kindness, support and prayers! ❤️🙏0 -
Judith. That is interesting about your brother who, lives in Boston. Also that he has dual citizenship. My sister has it too living in Canada & having been born in PA.
Is there any accents in Canada? I would think with the Quebec who speak more French you would have some
I can’t find the recipe chat again. I tried to bookmark it but kept said permission denied. Now it’s gone.
Sorry. I wanted to, check Susan’s recipe out but I can’t find it. I hope you like mine too but maybe it’s
MIA.
Any ideas??
It’s 3* here. I guess that is a warm 3 but I don’t feel that way.
So much snow & no place to, put it, plus the Arctic air the snow will not go, any where soon.0 -

I had a good therapy session today. She says she can see my improvement from two days ago. She has me stepping up on a step without using my other leg to help. That is really hard when I have been doing that for quite a while. When I was in Westminster and all the steps, I remember using the railing on the wall to pull myself up or use my good leg to help push. She wants me to train my injured muscle to do the work on it's own. I feel like it is refusing this assignment but I will train it to do it correctly. I received my bone scan results yesterday. It said things were normal and I do not have a fracture risk. We all have things as we age that are deteriorating. I know some of you have osteoporosis, I have arthritis, asthma, diabetes, arthritis, etc. It all will be made new in heaven. I am looking forward to my new body!
Judith, I have never seen a calendar that takes you through the Bible in one year. That would be very interesting to do especially if it has topics for the month also.
Barb, I hope you are keeping warm and do not have to go out very often. The artic winds are so cold and you are right, it will not melt the snow for you. Frostbite is very common in this situation. Be careful!
