Shelley, seems I remember you telling us about the first tree. Wow! How is she doing with her walking?

Paula, you and I must have posted at the same time. I just saw your post. Glad you are done with the downed house. Hope dancing was a blast.

Turns out, our fridge had a part that was replaceable AT NO CHARGE!! I forget what the part is called but the repairman...who was the head of the department...explained everything to Patrick, showed him where the warranty says NO CHARGE FOR REPLACEMENT, and fixed it. He was hoping the ice dispenser would work after the fix, but it doesn't. Had to call another repairman out for next Wednesday to fix it.

I did a 60 min workout w/my trainer today. Now I just want to sit and read.

Hey gals....catching up from being home from AZ.....back to reality lol!

Paula - yeah to be rid of the house. Had to be so stressful..
Hope your funk is lifting girlfriend....it can be so hard. Thinking about you.....how was dancing? What kind of dancing do you like?

Chris - glad your fridge repair is no charge...good stuff! Appliances can be so expensive to fix. I have a recurring ice maker issue ;(

I'll give you more of an update on the Grand Canyon when I have a bit more time. It was AMAZING!

Fog funk…brain fog it’s such a thing. Trying to figure out how to get out of it. Made a decision to go back to Planet Fitness. It will get me out of the house. I can go really early…since I don’t sleep anyway…and be back before my parents get up. Also less people there so safer.

I need the strength training I get at PF also it’s been so cold here that I’m not walking at the park as much so the treadmills and elliptical will let me get my cardio in as well.

Just trying to switch it up so the month doesn’t turn into a total disaster.

Good decisions, Kathy. Hope your brain fog disappears.

We had rain, cold and wind today...no walking for me :/ I played w/Ronan, read and did nothing!!
We had a hawk on our back fence for a bit. He had a bird he was plucking feathers from and chowing down on. After a bit, he grabbed the bird and flew up to the neighbor's roof. It was pretty amazing!!

Supposed to rain tomorrow. We do need it.

Kathy I like going to classes at gyms. Enjoy your PF. It is great that you are going.

Chris I tried to log in last night. Had a paragraph typed all for you. Then I was kicked out! Grrrrr. I can't believe it didn't cost to repair your fridge. What a stroke of good luck. I don't use a lot of ice now. My Takeya cups keep my ice lasting all day. My DD is able to start walking a tiny bit now.

I am still feeling poorly. A little better than Friday though. I hate being sick. I am a big baby. Just want to curl up with a book and fall asleep

Karen, Your trip sounds like a lifetime achievement. So amazing. Looking forward to picks.

Karen, Isn't Fog funk such a great description?! Just bumping along, a little confused about why I'm not doing what needs to be done.

I'm so tired of stressors, even the little ones. Waiting for the mental exhaustion to wear off. Need to buckle down and re-trigger controls.

But Chris & Shell, sometimes books and sleep and doing nothing are just what we need.

I went shopping and got lots of good foods to prepare. Hopefully good options will make it easier to get back on track. (Also got more whiskey but haven't broken into it - fingers crossed.)

First day back to Planet Fitness. I did 30 minutes of strength training and 60 minutes on the treadmill. I checked my app to determine the usage at 730 am and it said minimal so I was there by 8:00. I added 30 minutes on my recumbent this afternoon.

I have a doctors appointment tomorrow morning as well as a dental appointment so will probably work out in the afternoon. The crowd usage is moderate between 12:00-3:00.

This definitely has perked me up! 😃

Paula I love the way you describe Fog Funk. Just bumping along. That is me at times. And no more stressors for me either.

Kathy I am so happy for you. I remember when they shut down due to Covid and you were so bummed. Now look at how excited you are again. Go for it.

Feeling a tiny bit better. So on the road to feeling better now. Still not feeling up to much. Though I do need to start baking a little bit for Wednesday. We are having a Christmas party here at work.

Shelley, glad you are feeling better. I know I said the fridge was no charge, but it did cost us $100.00. But that was so far from the $1500.00+ he was explaining it would cost until he discovered we had the "special" unit. I'm happy!

I need to start wrapping presents...ugh...

Kathy, hope your appointments went well. We have a hearing aid appt tomorrow. I'm getting a different kind of hearing aids because the first pair kept failing the app...or the app just kept failing.

Paula, I need someone to go shopping for us...or fridge is so empty! Nothing is in the doors, so when I open them like I've done in the past...they fling to the side like crazy! So light weight!!

Worked out w/my trainer for 60 mins today.

Chris - glad tye fridge is fixed! Always so hard to get folks to fix stuff right now..and yucky timing with the holidays.

We need to start wrapping too. I shop and my husband wraps. I did mail the only package I need to send off yesterday. I also made tye decision that I'm not doing picture Christmas cards like I usually do. No one is in the mood to take a picture, I'm overwhelmed and work is nuts. So I'm making a donation to Toys to Tots instead with what I would have spent. One less pressure to worry about.

I've gotten REALLY lazy with tracking my food. I want to get back to doing that today...I can tend to get lazy with my habits in December....especially the alcohol;( So...working to tighten myself up!

Vegas and the Grand Canyon were great! I felt pretty safe the whole time....masks were mandatory on the flights, inside casinos, hotels and buildings....walked a TON...which I love doing. I always seem to do so well with exercising on vacation. I haven't been to Vegas in 20 years...so different from how I remember. I came back only 1 lb heavier (that was a triumph!)

Attaching a few pics from our time in Vegas. A true birthday celebration ;)zokc4tav0j58.jpg

Tha Grand Canyon was indeed amazing....this part of the trip was a surprise from my good friend Colleen ....she knew hiking it was on my bucket list. Being obese for 40 years of my life to being at a "normal" weight and fit has taken so much work. You gals know the struggle each day....we keep it real here. Turning 50 (on the 28th) is HUGE for me. Not the number per se, but where I am at this point in my life, which I am happy about, and grateful for.

We went to the South side of the Canyon and hiked the South Kaibab Trail. We went down about 3 miles past the Cedar Ridge (gorgeous views.) It was challenging to say the least. Especially coming back up. Mama Mia! But I felt really accomplished....I did 15K steps on the hike....equivalent to about 230 flights of stairs (my thighs just stopped aching lol.) So glad we did it! Also make a quick stop in Flagstaff for my friend to get a COVID test to get back into Canada. Cute town!

Here are a few pics from the gorgeous Grans Canyon. Such a beautiful adventure...

I see folks being sentenced to years every week. And I can't imagine living like that. We all are doing good. And my heart goes out to all those people who lost everything during the tornadoes. And especially to those who lost their lives.

We are all well. Stay warm and enjoy what we have. I am making sugar cookies with my husband this weekend and decorating them. And I might even get a little frosting on his nose! ;)

    Here's my deets:

    Highest weight ever: 306 (2013)
    Ultimate goal weight: 155
    12/15 - 167
    Dec goal - 165

Getting back into my fasting and eating routine after being away for 8 days. Pretty easy to get back in. My challenge right now are the many stresses I have...work is messy. Our company is being sold in January. So poorly handled and lots of people leaving. My kiddo struggles....trying to help her. And the holidays! Which normally I enjoy a lot. Trying to pace myself and take it easier this year.

I was thinking about the next 2 weeks and how I want to get through them without a lot of weight gain. My plan:

    Exercise daily
    Fast 20 hours most days
    Drink a lot of water
Try to limit alcohol (it makes me snack!)

Hope everyone has a good Wed !

Karen when I read Chris say your photos were beautiful I was like "what photos". Must have been posting at the same time. The photos are beautiful. I think it is the time of year you were there. And I love the photo of you and your friend. She is so much shorter in the photo, then I noticed she was raised up on her toes even. :) Hilarious. So much fun.

30 minutes lower body strength training. 45 minutes treadmill. Then went to the mall with my bff for a little Christmas shopping. Tomorrow may be a rest day.

Karen thanks for sharing your vacation pictures. And I’m with you trying to get to the end of the month without gaining too much weight. šŸ™šŸ¾

Oh, man! I had a whole bunch written then got thrown out of MFP!! gggrrr!
60 min workout w/my trainer this afternoon. Too windy and cold for any walking. Maybe tomorrow. Supposed to rain until 7:30 a.m. then the sun is supposed to come out. We'll see.
There was snow on Mt Diablo yesterday morning on my way to the grocery store. Most of it was gone within the hour. It was back that afternoon! Cool! Beautiful! Cold!!

Rest day. Having these really bad back spasms. Took my mom to the hairdresser and walked around the parking lot for some relief.

Going to take an epsom salt bath and pop a couple of Advils.

    Hi Kathy,

I don't know if it's the same for you, but Derek's back goes out when he's super stressed. He finds that mental relaxation (in addition to Advil, heat, etc.) helps relieve it. Hope you feel better soon. Bad backs are just miserable in so many ways.

    Best wishes,

Chris I was kicked out the other night. Was to tired to even care. I hope it is not the start of something bad.

Kathy I hope you feel better soon. Paula is right, back pain is awful. Slow walking hurts my back. Great workout. Do you still play tennis?

Karen so nice to have such a great friend. You are lucky. I need to log again. Always an eye opener.

Paula such great advice for Kathy. Back pain is the worse.

I seem to have taken a turn for the worst. My voice is horrible. Congested and scratchy throat. Very tired of it all.
