@hannahwinner20 - I trail run in Brooks and Salomon and they work for my raggedy knees. Also agree with @snowshoe072 on the Hokas.

Today our electricity went out mid morning-- first it was expected to be out till noon and then they changed it to 7 pm. We went grocery shopping, mostly for veggies, and left them in our cold garage when we returned and found the electric company had not met its goal of noon. Where we live in the country we lose everything when the electricity goes out-- water, lights, heat. So my lunch was an avocado, a half cup of pistachios, and a salad dressed with EVOO, balsamic vinegar, and spices. Because there was little else I could do without electricity, I had plenty of time for walking in the basement listening to my phone and later napping. For supper we decided to go out to eat as we try not to eat anything past 7 pm and I was still determined to stay within my goals, which are low carb. I chose a Mexican restaurant and felt very successful as I watched my husband eat all the chips and salsa. I ordered chicken fajitas without tortillas. They brought the tortillas anyway and I did not eat them. My husband, however, was encouraging me to indulge the whole time, first with the chips, later the rice and beans, and later talking about wanting ice cream. I think he really does not like indulging by himself when I am not doing so. He ¨needed¨ Braum´s ice cream cone so we went through the drive through and got him one. Definitely reminded me of old times when he would eat whatever he wanted and also spend time trying to sabotage my plans to stick to my diet. He has been losing weight this time around and has been a lot better until now, but is weighs quite a bit less than I do at this point (isn´t it irritating how much faster men can lose) and so he ended with ¨I will take my diet seriously again when you get down to my weight.¨ At least my will is strong right now and I had success today inspite of all the adapting I had to do.

I found the following chart today, and as a result, kicked my Profile Daily Level up from Sedentary to Lightly Active (I have a habit-pledge I have been consistently meeting for 6000+ steps minimum per day). As a result, my Daily Calories increased by 110 calories and the Fitbit activity credits don't start applying until later in Fitbit's 24-hr calories-burned calculations
Exercise: ✨ core work - 12 mins; balance practice - 5 mins; fitbit says 25 "active minutes" (mostly 35 mins of exergame) / 7,298 steps (not many more before bed)
Logged: ✨ EVERYthing
In Range: ✨ left all 18 exercise credits in the pot. Not exactly a hardship ....

Been so busy. But all is quite well. I'm happily busy. My foot is responding well to stretching several times/day. I need to not test it though for a long while. I wish I knew how long. At this point it can't be too long of a wait based on the number of failed "comebacks" attempted. Maybe this summer? 🤷♂️ Also the diet changes have gone quite smoothly. I was expecting a possible train wreck, instead it was more of a drive through the park with just a couple minor bumps. I need to formulate more meals, but I'm really happy with the ones I have and have no issues choosing them over other choices. Although I am allowing some "reasonable" other choices once in a good while. It's very refreshing after a year locked into keto (which I enjoyed, but have you all heard about these amazing things called oats, rice, peas, among others? 😁). Wowza!!!7 -

I’m a huge saucony fan, with green feet inserts. The newer version of their better running shoes are pricey but you can get the older gens on Amazon for cheap quite often. That being said I can’t recommend going to a running store and getting fitted for the right shoes enough. I never would have tried the green feet inserts without them and they are key to my body not falling apart. Lol. If money is a factor in shoe choice, I still suggest spending the money at a running store getting your first pair and then you’ll know what to order off Amazon, etc. from there on out.7 -

@hannahwinner20 - I second @mshawski excellent recommendation to go to a running shoe store. Each model in each brands line of shoes are designed based on the needs of your feet and your gait. Nobody on the internet can analyze you, your feet and gait and make a shoe recommendation that is any better than throwing a dart at a dartboard. The best comparison I can think of is eyeglasses and asking for advice on the lens prescription and frames to get.
I like Brooks Glycerin (and Ghosts when I weigh less), and have had nothing but bad experiences with Hoka road shoes (while many others have an opposite experience or some even have good results with both). In the end the right shoe brand/model is best determined by someone who knows what to look for and has the experience of selling shoes that either are keepers for people, or returned for whatever reason. They will give you your absolute best shot at shoes you can happily run in.6 -

Gym for Function strength/cardio class tonight.
I’m here. Lol. My nights have just been getting away from me.
My primary gave me an “unofficial” view of my blood work and X-rays the rheumatologist had done so I didn’t have to wait until my apt at the end of the month. Surprisingly my B12 is just fine! My vitamin D is low but that’s just the story of my life. Lol. Anyhoo. Rheumatoid factor was high and X-rays showed degenerative changes in my spine. So… I think it’s safe to say I have some type of arthritis in my spine, but TBD on what type. I Googled stuff and Google is the devil so here we are with me getting ahead of myself and being worried they’ll have issue with my workout routine and I love my workout routine. So. Lol.

When I’m able to resume winter sports I’ll be passing through the St. Regis breakfast and lunch buffets most days. So I read your account white knuckled. I’m gonna need to lean on what I’ve learned and hopefully develop new skills when that happens.

That’s some great willpower today @ideas2 bravo! Yes, it’s terribly irritating. I also find it infuriating how my husband can drop or gain 50lbs and still wear the same pair of pants. Women need at least 3 new wardrobes in the course of and after dropping 50lbs 😂🤷🏻♀️

@hannahwinner20 , I agree with the other runners, it's good to go to a running shoe store for your first pair. They will analyze your gait, often on a treadmill, to make sure you get the right kind of shoe and fit for you. There are 3 categories--neutral, stability, and motion control. I have high arches and tend to supinate, so a shoe in the neutral category works best for me. I've been wearing Brooks (Ghosts) for several years now. Before that I wore Saucony (Triumph I think was the name of their neutral). It's good to try on several brands and walk, jog, or run around the store or on their treadmill to try them out.
