Celebrated my sister's birthday with her yesterday (Saturday) by having a party at my house. She loves to drink alcohol, so I planned out several cocktails, which were delicious but also sent me over my calories. We made and rolled our own sushi, and finished with some vegan cheesecake (she's vegan). In sum, it was a bit much for me and felt a little out of control, as I have a tendency to binge eat. The party kind of set off that trigger for me. Today I am staying positive and reflecting on that time as fun.
Tonight I have another party that I'm hosting for friends. A potluck. I am looking forward to the people, but I am going to have to stay mentally and emotionally present with all that food!

I am so thankful for this 3 day weekend. Last week was hard and I need this weekend to reset and recharge. I need to make a realistic plan. I think I will go back to IF. That worked for em last spring, when I wasn't able to get in my morning workouts. I want to get in atleast 20 min Barre 4 days and lift 2 days. The Barre shouldn't be too hard because I can usually do that with Mabel, but finding the time to lift will be more challenging.6

Happy Sunday!
Sneak preview - we are NUMBER ONE!!! Our team had a fabulous week. We lost 38.8 pounds (17.6 kg) and had a very high percentage of people "in the green" - even better than last week at 64.5%. That is a week worth building on! Keep up the great green, folks.
Week 3 tends to be slump week. So let's think about what worked this past week, what helped keep things on track - all the positives. I know that there are birthdays, terrible weather, and all kinds of bumps in the road, but getting back on track afterwards is a huge rush of positive energy to combat that dreaded slip off course. Don't get stuck! We'll call the tow truck, promise!7 -

I lost weight Sunday & Monday, and that’s unusual because I love my nachos. I counted my chips, & I was successful.
I spent the rest of the week at 156.5. 5 days! How can I plateau? I’m just starting! We’ll, I usually have soup for lunch. I did deli meat sandwiches for dinner, & deli meat has so much sodium. Last night, I did 1/2 the deli meat & added regular chicken breast for a loss. I will make sodium adjustments for next week. I have less than 1200mg of sodium per day, but this week I was over 2000. I had a calorie deficit of 250-350 per day, so I was expecting a loss.4 -
Steps for last week. I didn't get my walk in Saturday like I wanted, but even at 2k steps that's more than I've been trending on the weekends so I'll take it.
My son has 2 friends sleep over for his birthday and we had pizza last night. I went over calories for sure, but thankfully not by too much. Today has been good so far. After his friends left my son and I went to the library to pick out a book for his book report then we came home and had lunch and went through some recipes together to meal plan for the week.3 -

@deniners2 you had a great week! 2.5 pounds gone. Any faster than that, it tends to creep back on you. Well done! I think cutting back the sodium a bit can help, but don't forget that only really changes water weight. Losing fat and building up muscle is going to make a bigger difference in your shape and how great you feel so keep that calorie deficit bubbling right along. Great job!
I hope everyone gives this week's full group challenge a try - adapt as needed and go for it! I like that it gives short movement "assignments" throughout the day so it does not take a big time chunk all at once.

In case you are wondering, two of our members topped the Week 2 Challenge for great recipes - there were points given for all kinds of things, and these were some amazing recipes. The challenge thread will still be there this week if anyone wants to check them out! Then I'll probably move them to our permanent recipe thread. Feel free to browse in there any time6 -

Wine night was fun! I drank a lot of water so I don't have a hangover 😁2 -
Finally getting on here after several days absence and have read all the posts. I love you guys...the positive energy in here is a big boost. I've indulged the last couple days and, even though there's a holiday off tomorrow, I'm going to stop the indulging, and just enjoy simple food for the rest of the week. I'd like to be in the green for the whole month.

This morning I biked 26.2 while I prayed for my niece running the Houston marathon. She did well, & it made my ride go by quickly. 🙂 It was a wonderful time.7
-
@deniners2 I love the idea of you biking the distance while your niece ran the marathon - solidarity!
I'm laughing over my daughter's mini-mule, Emmett. He is, well, stubborn as a mule. When it was hitting well into the -40 range out there in Alberta, he could NOT be tempted into the barn even though he does not have a winter blanket like the horses out in the shelters where he usually hangs out. Today - it took ONE single cookie (a special horse cookie) to get him in the barn. No problem. He just followed that cookie like many of us would - and went straight inside. He then was treated to several cookies and a good brushing. Little cookie monster.
So maybe we are like little mules??? Cookies7 -

Great way of looking at it! Way to go! Seeing those patterns and observing improvements in trends in many different ways is great... and motivating too!!
Hope you and your son enjoy your tasty meal plan this week!

Our weekend has been great.. a good recharge after a busy work week. We video chatted with Brad's mom, took our dog to get groomed, had a walk at our favorite off-leash in Red Deer, went out for brunch, watched our Bills win, went snowshoeing in Kananaskis, and had pizza. It was a good combo of a lot of things.
Off to bike and then unwind before the week begins!2 -

Hope you all had a nice Sunday. This weekend my 10 year old son and I did a cooking box/kit from a company called Radish Kids (he wants to be a chef). This month's box was focused on flavors: sweet, sour, salty, bitter and umami. It came with little conversation starters and had you think about the flavors you are tasting. It was a GREAT exercise in mindful eating for me! So fun to do with my son.
I'm doing well getting my fiber up. Yesterday was better than today and both a huge improvement in general. I mixed up a chocolate chia pudding to try for breakfast. I have not had chia before.
I did a short snowshoe walk today with the dog. His snow booties came so I just want to make sure he doesn't get sore paws. He loves them but walks so funny for the first 5 minutes 😆
I got a mystery box for Christmas and it came today from a dancewear company I like. I got some fun one of a kind leg warmers in the box. Had fun dressing up for my ballet workout today. It was hard to pick just one pair of legwarmers. My collection has really grown!
@jugar if only cookies helped me do things that were good for me! Ha, silly mule. This was probably his plan all along.6 -

Last week went okay. I did not go out for most of the week so will try and exercise more this week.
Pw 105.2kg
Cw 104

PW: 80.9kg
CW: 80.0kg
I swear the scales said 80.1 this morning, I think there's some rounding at play as I often have slight differences in MFP (it's all automatically synchronised). Anyway, I will take it! I saw 79.9 yesterday so I'm ahead of myself; I'd wanted to be under 80kg for the end of the month.
Busy weekend... Errands, DIY, cleaning, a meal out, work - and that was just Saturday! Sunday we did DIY, cleaning, walked, I did some work, we ripped the carpet up and I got into the shower just after midnight. This morning I've done an hour and a half of tidying and cleaning before work. Keep telling myself it'll be worth it, but I just want a nap lol.
Plan for the rest of today (it's only 9.25am...) is work, with the thing that was stressing me out at 10am, a walk at lunch time and a trip to the DIY store this evening. I've still got to paint the airing cupboard, and am going to do it in the evenings this week, but need a couple of bits. I am having left over fajitas for lunch (without the wraps to save calories) then a store-bought steak and puff pastry pie for tea.5 -
CW - 174.7 lbs
This last week has been mix of lows and highs. Let me give you a rundown
Saturday - Was up till 3 in the night and started boredom eating. Ate 3600 calories, 700 calories over maintenance.
Sunday - Was super depressed all day, spent the entire day in bed and ate around 7000 calories, not kidding. I hadn't stayed in bed all day for at least 1.5 years at this point. The interesting thing is even while eating so much, I never ate to the point that I was uncomfortable. I would finish like a 1400 calorie Ben and Jerry's Peanut butter icecream tub, then stay put for 2-3 hours and then eat something calorie loaded again. Was a very bad day
Monday - Took my weight (83.9 kgs, up 4.5 kgs) Made a fresh start, went to work, didn't feel like eating much and ate around 1100 calories. I was almost back to feeling my usual self by afternoon I think.
Tuesday - Took my weight (81 kgs), started to feel hungry today but stayed in a big deficit again - 1200 calories. Made shirataki noodles and low calorie brownies to make it though the day.
Wednesday - I was so so hungry here so decided to go back to eating at a manageable deficit, around 2400 calories. But even after a good lunch, I was still starving so decided to eat at maintenance( 2900 calories) But by evening, the pangs had calmed down so I stuck to 2400 calories.
Thursday - Took my weight (79. 9 kgs), left for Austria. Didnt log in my food today but was still careful to not indulge too much at the hotel restaurant and at the bar.
Friday - Went to the hotel gym in the morning then tried skiing for the first time, it was super exhausting. In the evening, went sledging for the first time and that was so much fun. I must have crashed 15-20 times throughout the day during both but I felt light and strong so didn't care. Need to be smarter next time.
Saturday - Went to the hotel gym again. Today, I met one of my favorite animals - the Alpaca. They are so cute and fluffy! Went to the gym and then had a big breakfast and then an even bigger lunch at this fancy restaurant we went to. I started to feel guilty and decided to eat just 200-400 calories in the evening. But by evening time, I decided to go for another first. Believe it or not, I have never been drunk drunk. My dad was an angry drunk which meant I never felt like letting loose with alcohol. Also, when I was super overweight, I was also worried about who would carry me back to my place if I got drunk. Also, didn't want to make a fool of myself( thinking of those youtube videos of drunk fat people doing embarrassing things). It took 7-8 drinks to get me there, surprisingly, and to my utter delight, I found out my drunk self is super sweet. I was paying people some heartfelt compliments, dancing and going around tapping people on their shoulder and "hoping they were having a good time". Came back to bed by 1 am and cried myself to sleep for some reason. I guess I have been suppressing some stuff recently and this reminds me I should talk to someone. Barely ate in the evening, just alcohol.
Sunday - Came back to Munich in the afternoon. On the way back, everyone stopped at Mcdonald's and had burgers. But I stuck to a soy milk capuccino for 60 calories lol. That was hard. I realized I am essentially taking calories from the part of the day where I am being social and saving it for the part of the day where I am alone. That makes sense for me as I am a boredom eater. Back to logging and stuck to 2400 calories today.
Monday - Back to 79.25 kg. Phew! Lived to fight another week

Pw 176.2

I didn't think I was that bad.... not an excuse but I did start hrt last week, and the dr did say my body could do some odd stuff in the 1st couple of weeks, so...
Heres to a good week!

@happimess01 Sam, your journey and self-reflection is so amazing. Thank you for sharing, you continue to wow and inspire me.
I've been keeping to myself and not logging but I have been reasonably mindful of my portion sizes and choices, except for Thursday when my father passed away from complications of his medical treatment. The days prior to and after his death I repeated the mantra to myself that 'we don't eat or drink our feelings' and it helped me not make pit stops at the grocery/liquor store for sabotaging things to consume. I'm in a better place now that he has passed as I was still so upset on how quickly he took a turn for the worse and just kept hoping against all odds and Dr's reports that Dad would wake back up. Now that he's gone I can just focus on how wonderful he was and how lucky I am to have had such a shining example of humanity as a father. Dad was a healthy eater, exercised regularly and instilled in me a love of teams and sports. I hold onto that to inspire me to try harder to be better each day.
Today is snowmageddon here so I plan to shovel the 3200 sq ft of yard, decks, and rink at least twice so that it's manageable. Up to a foot of snow is forecast. Nuts!6
