Probably higher than my last weigh in but I'm also starting to workout more (legs are killing me today lol)4 -
@KellyBgetsfit awesome! When I make them again (and i will), I'd use a little less erythritol because my protein powder is already a little sweet.
@jugar ahh too bad. I can find a vanilla or strawberry recipe for you if you want1 -

I woke up sick today and didn't hit my step goal. Tomorrow I'm going to have to go back and catch up on all of the posts! Y'all have been busy the past couple of days, and I'm behind!
I hope that you feel much better soon, @lonestarbabe!

(Whoa! I am not expecting to see that big of a loss again any time soon. I am a very slow loser, generally.)

Luckily the home reno schedule has kept me moving.
Hi, Courtney @PlaneMonkey! I also shifted to remote work and found that I do not get as many steps in or burn as many calories now. I made the move back in 2015 when I became a single mom. Working remotely helped me to manage my life! But now...to manage my weight...

@metaphysicalstudio that's an awesome loss! @AshenMoon I can so empathize with the sore muscles - I'm also back to regular exercise and it is difficult!
1/4 exercise - 9027 steps + 60 minutes of Orangetheory - which included running on a treadmill, rowing, and free-weight/bodyweight exercises. Fitbit gave me 2793 steps for it5 -
Greetings from the road.. travelling across the frozen prairie tundra back home today!
1/4 exercise:
6475 steps + 20 mins strength + 20 mins yoga
Overall my weight has dropped during my time away, so I'm happy with that. Back to normal routine tomorrow!
@DD265
The sides often make the meal for me. I do like to snack at night though, so I tend to reduce portions like you've described to allow me some calories for a snack. Just comes down to what is most satisfying overall for you. I realize having the sides would generally be more nutritious but that's something l can work on as I go. Right now I know not bingeing is most important so I just eat how I need to in order to avoid that.4 -
@ashleycarole86 I feel the same way. A curry without naan bread is wrong - I could probably skip the rice if I needed to, though. Lunch was fine with one slice of bread instead of two, but I'm so hungry now (probably/hopefully more to do with the time of the month than anything else) that I'm going to need to have a banana before I go for a run.5

@DD265 I see that you like your carbs and I am in the same boat! I feel better when I eat enough carbs and it gives you more energy especially if you work out intensely. I usually log my evening meal with my yummy carbs first thing. I also add in the evening snack because we always have one. I think the PMS time is hard to deal with because you are truly more hungry. It hormones and you aren't really going to be able to change that. I usually increase my calories that week so I have more give so I don't freak out and eat an entire loaf of sourdough bread with butter. Do you have trouble with this all the time or just time of the month? I'm a classic calorie hoarder. I'm less hungry in the morning and eat the majority of my calories later in the day. I have been curious about eating a big breakfast, then a snack, then a big dinner followed by a small snack but haven't tried it.7

Hi! I live in Windsor, Vermont with my OH, adult daughter, and 3 cats. My weightless journey started in late high school when I *thought* I was heavy (138 lbs & sturdy, short German-Irish-Swedish build). I experimented with various food regimens including Macrobiotics 9-months after my 1st daughter was born in '82. It always seemed that extreme diets worked best for me but I've gotten to a point in my life where it's easier to be in the middle of the road. It's certainly better for me to eat smaller portions than my OH (who's a foot taller than I) and to get more walking in than I'm inclined to do.
Since the sun has been mostly MIA for what seems an age, I need to get outside while it's still at least "bright". I'll be back to add to my posts and will read the rest of yours, too.

I see I am not the only one in the sore muscles club! I am reminded of my return to strength building every time I go down the stairs. Or open the fridge door... I like that feeling, though, and it won't last too long. Soon those complaining muscles will be stronger, right? The biggest challenge I have at the moment is fitting everything into my calorie budget. It's not a small budget but the side dishes are adding up, which makes it harder to fit a snack in which makes me more likely to want to rebel. For example, I'll have bread with lunch (188cals), and naan (293cals) and rice (143cals) with tea - those add up to over a third of my daily calories. I think I will halve the portions of the sides and see whether I still feel full (like last night).
How do other people handle side dishes?
That is a great question - and a lot of it has to do with the whole idea of side dishes. I am one of those everything-in-one-bowl people, so most meals are one big dish with no sides. It might be plain yogurt, fresh fruit, and nuts for breakfast, a salad with everything or a soup/stew for lunch, and a one skillet crazy mess for dinner, but most of my meals go in one dish, and grains are not part of the picture. So I'm not sure the question is about mains and sides as much as the place of bread, rice and the like. The only way I can keep weight where I want it is to get my carbs from fruits and veg as much of the time as possible. I eat bread and other grains occasionally, but never daily. I eat lots of carbs, but I find that avoiding grains is the way that works best for me. That 300 calorie naan could be a half sweet potato, some parsnips, a huge amount of dark leafy greens (kale and the like) and even some nuts thrown in. Very filling, not 300 calories. More like 150. Plenty of room for protein, and a large volume of food.
Waking up hungry is good! It means you didn't overeat the night before. I love that feeling. Don't get between me and my brekkies though!!7 -
@conleywoods definitely worse around PMS time, though I am on contraception which minimises symptoms so sometimes I don't have the problem at all, and other times I don't realise what it is. I also experience more hunger after significant exercise which is to be expected if I'm going above and beyond my normal efforts.
@jugar for me the curry itself is the main, and the rice or naan go with it but together they make a complete meal. I probably need to look at alternatives like you suggest, though naan particularly is one of my 'vices' lol. You could argue that the Moroccan soup, which contains lamb, peppers, chickpeas and rice amongst other things, doesn't need bread dunking in it, but then I deliberately portioned it for 6 rather than 4 to have with bread. Some of the others are 'plainer' and benefit from something either dunked in, or adding crunch like croutons which I haven't made in a while, but again I portioned them small this time. I did go through a phase of putting mixed seeds in soup, so I could try that again.
One thing I have done the past few days is have part of my lunch as an afternoon snack instead - i.e. the fruit or crisps are saved for later. If I'm still having hunger issues next week (it's usually only a couple of days) I may need to reassess.4 -

Having a difficult day. My older son tested positive for Covid this morning. Argh. Feel like the stress of this pandemic is never-ending. Ordered in groceries in case the rest of us get hit too. Sigh. My Garmin fitness tracker keeps sending me messages, “You are experiencing high stress”. Ummm, yeah Garmin, I am 😂6
-
@Waifer003 that is such a drag! It really does feel endless, but it must be really tough when someone close tests positive. So far my family has been fine, but the way things are going in Québec right now, I'm not sure if that will continue. My son works every day, and even though he does not live with us, we see him at least once a week. Wishing you calm and that it is not too serious for any of you.
I spent a couple of hours at the dentist today - not serious, but LONG. I'm not too motivated to get all the things done, but hopefully will have at least a small session on the exercise bike shortly.

Perfect! Saturday it is. Just so you know - that is the only day you cannot be late - I do the team tallies bright and early on Sundays I'm also glad to know that you are here reading. It's a good thing to have all those voices in your head sometimes. I hope you'll let us know about the good, the bad, the annoying as time goes by. It all helps.2 -
@PlaneMonkey Hope you get your results soon and are COVID free.
@Waifer003 So sorry to hear about your son. That certainly is stressful for a momma. Hope his symptoms are mild and you stay negative.
@jugar Here’s hoping your son (and all of you) stay negative. This is crazy. So many cases.
My nose has been running all day. Lots of sneezing and right now my throat is a bit sore. I hope it’s just dry and needs water. I highly doubt it’s COVID. I haven’t been anywhere. Like literally.
All my food is logged, 15 minutes of Pilates done. Self care was a call to a dear friend of mine. It was so nice to talk to her. My steps are still low today.
I love reading all the posts today. 🙂4 -

@PlaneMonkey I hope you get your results soon so you know what your dealing with. Feel better soon!
@Waifer003 That is such a bummer. Hope your son bounces back quickly and the rest of your family stays healthy. The pandemic is getting so old.
@DD265 Have you ever tried cauliflower rice? I'm a big rice fan and find that certain dishes I can swap in cauliflower rice easily. Other dishes only the real stuff will do, while others a blend of half rice and half cauliflower rice do the trick. I also find that intense exercise really stimulates my appetite as well. It's super annoying 🙄4 -

@ashleycarole86, I would like to join the steps challenge. I will start entering this Sunday.6 -
@MoStacy Sounds great, happy to have you on board and great loss this week!
For those unwell or with family members unwell... just want to send best wishes to you all... lots of that going on for people right now so fingers crossed for no COVID and for those that have it, hope it's a quick and easy recovery.
The ride home was uneventful (which is good!) Our SUV actually didn't start this morning before we left.. we hadn't plugged it in but it was slightly warmer at Dad's (lows of -20C versus -30C at home) so I thought we were fine but apparently not. With a quick boost, we were on our way.
After arriving home, unpacking, and pizza dinner.. it was time to reunite with the Peloton! In fact, I scooped it up before Brad I had a long session - 91 minutes total ride time, and I felt so alive. I've had a few moments this past week where I've felt like an athlete in the best way possible. What a great feeling.
Ok, bed time.. tired with the time change coming back home. See you in the morning for weigh-in!5 -

going to ease back a bit and not aim for my default 1200/day. I must expend more than one would think with an office job. My inner-jugar is definitely not parked on a couch....and with possibly half a foot of snow coming tomorrow, I'll keep the snowshoes handy. Now, I have a lot of posts to catch up on...at a first scan, the word Covid jumped out at me a few times6 -
@conleywoods I haven't tried cauliflower rice, but I should probably give it a go. I did used to have konjac noodles but they weren't great with most things.
I woke up hungry again, but then was too busy to eat anything until 10.30, so that was a fun morning. I was very tired as well so planning an earlier night. Plasterers are still busy and should be done for the weekend all being well. I'm looking forward to getting the dining table back out as eating either in the kitchen or at my desk isn't ideal.
The temperature has dropped here so I'm glad we ran last night! I'm going to push OH to walk this evening but I think I may be met with resistance as he's doing his physical safety training at work and is battered and bruised already. A walk will do him good I'm sure6 -
Good Morning. Today, I am going back to work. I actually have virtual trainings so I won't be getting any steps. I got up early enough to do my strength workout and hop on the elliptical. I have hit my steps all week and I don't want to break that cycle.
@planemonkey I must have missed your post. I hope you are doing ok and if it is Covid, it is mild.
@waifer003 I am so sorry about your son. I hope it is mild and everyone else stays healthy. At this point, I feel like it is everywhere. I know people with their booster who are still getting it.
@ashleycarole you and your Pelton are a beast! 90 min, girl you are definitely an athlete now!!!
@dd265 if you are waking up hungry, have you looked at how much protein you are getting? It could help to up your protein a bit.6 -

Sorry I'm late, this week has gotten away from me and it's my 3rd consecutive week with a gain. The holidays really messed me up this year. I need to get back on track and stay there. I had about 4 planned cheat days in December and they all turned into multi day streaks.
I also haven't introduced myself yet, so here it is. I'm Mandi, 35, living in the Chicago suburbs with my son who will be 12 tomorrow. I do workforce planning/HR admin for a large retailer. It's a desk job that I started this past may after working on the sales floor fory whole life. I was never thin but I gained a lotmof.weoght when my son was.young trying to navigate a retail schedule as a single.mom to a small child. Fast food and prepared/processed meals always felt easier. I lost and regained the same 40 or so lbs over and over for years. Finally in 2020 I stuck to it and lost about 60lbs. In Feb of 2021 I started dating my boyfriend which means lots of going out and then I'm May I started my desk job and I just struggled to keep my healthy habits and my exercise habits and gained some weight back. After December, my only goal for January is to have a net loss. Once I get my eating back on track I'll reintegrate exercise goals.8 -
