@rheddmobile what a frustrating run. I hope every one stays safe from the floods.
Well it's been a week since I pulled my calf. Going to attempt a run today. Coach is calling for 6.4k... I think I'll just do a couple of km and see what happens, I'm not willing to risk damaging it further.4 -

I hiked 8.5 miles with total elevation gain of 3,572 feet on the AT today. It was around 35F at the start and started sleeting before we had gone 100 feet on the trail. It only lasted 15 or 20 minutes. The rest of the day was cloudy and it warmed up to 40F by the time we finished. All the creek crossings were fine but the water was running down the trail in many places. I was glad I wore my boots instead of trainers. More rain is predicted for tomorrow. I need sunshine please!@Scott6255 – Like @katharmonic, I have the Ghosts 14s that have the funky shoe laces. Beware!
The Nolichukey River in the distance.
Me out of breath from climbing the hill.
@katharmonic – I’m glad you gave yourself permission to take a running break. It’s better to do that than to completely burn-out and when you have other pressures coming at you, no need to fret over a couple of missed runs! Hang in there. Spring is coming – we are almost to March!!!
@marisap2010 – I too am in a recipe rut but I just ordered a couple of new vegetarian cookbooks from Eamon and Bec (youtubers) and I’m excited to try some new things.
@summerskier – I think I have a pair of new lock laces some place - off to search for them now!
@Avidkeo – hope all went well with your test run!

@Aine8046 - Your can join the Run the World Challenge at this link
Once you have joined you can connect to Strava where it says 'APPS' at the top of the page.
We also have a MFP Monthly Running Challenge group on Strava if you want to join. I tried to send you an invite but it didn't find you even using your Strava name...
http://www.myfitnesspal.com/groups/home/21182-monthly-running-challange
@Aine8046 - No Run the Year is a Challenge Hound activity outside of MFP. If you click 'this link' in my previous post it should take you to the site where you can create a login and join our challenge.
Also I found you easily enough in Strava, Strava just wouldn't let me send you the invite to join the MFP group there.3 -
Snowed yesterday; still snowing this morning. Since I will fall short of February's goal anyway, decided a rest day would be a nice day.
I ordered the chipmunks some snowshoes from L.L.Bean...

@marisap2010 - I really had to look to see the baby crane, it is very well camouflaged! Glad you had a good time in FL and got some nice runs in despite the heat!
The rheumatologist said the number one thing she would have people remove from their diets is refined sugar!
@rheddmobile and @Teresa502 can you please send some of that rain west, way to the west coast, please! Again we have gotten only about 1/2 of what would be normal and most of that was in one storm. They aren't expecting that we will be getting anymore significant rain this year 😳 - our rainy season is December-March so it is going to be a long wait for us.
@Aine8046 - like others that ride would be a hard no for me too!
@katharmonic - So glad Stella was distracted! Our neighbor let their pup out to got potty before bed the other night in their back yard and met a skunk face to face. The dog took off after the skunk in the yard and got sprayed right in the face. She said it was horrible for the pup and that she had to be giving her a bath and making the 'skunk solution' at 10:30 at night. Now I worry every time I let Hobbes out at night! I have not seen any in our yard but I have smelled them around.
I think taking a break is a good idea. We all need them at some point. You don't need running or this group to become just another source of stress!
@SummerSkier - there used to be an offshoot page to this running challenge just about running sports bras. I think it has been pretty dormant for a while now but that might be a place to post if others are interested. If I can find the link I will come back and add it to this post.
Yay @Avidkeo!! So glad your calf is feeling better and you were able to get a good run in.
@Teresa502 - that looks like an amazing hike!
I also like the lock laces. For a while I was replacing all my laces with them. Haven't lately but because they are stretchy I could just pull them on and off. I like being able to get them adjusted and just leaving them and not worrying they will be too tight or too loose.
@SummerSkier - what shoes do you have that you don't need the laces? I am guessing one of the Nikes?
No run or walk for me today. I was feeling tired and crappy all day. I don't think I am sleeping well and my sleep app seems to concur, showing my HR jumping up several times a night. I think it is when I roll over or move my arm wrong, it hurts. I don't necessarily wake all the way up but the pain registers. I am still hoping to get something in on Monday, maybe tomorrow too. We'll see. I know I won't make goal but I was surprised that I am only 8miles off from it.

@Avidkeo Glad you had a great, pain free run!
@Teresa502 Nice job on the hike. I'm glad it didn't sleet or rain the entire time. Great pictures. You can tell the river is running high. Also glad the creek crossings were fine. I'm ready for sunshine too.
@shanaber I'm sorry the arm pain is keeping you from sleeping well. I DO hope that heals quickly!
I had intended to do a "long" run today. It was just a little bit longer than I have lately, but I wouldn't call it "long." Anyway, I ran on the treadmill again today, while watching "E.T." for the umpteenth time. It was a good distraction. I did a run/walk of 4/1 minutes again. The runs were a ladder from 4.5 - 4.9 mph then I finished out the last 5:03 minutes at 5.0 mph. It ran a total of 2.30 miles and walked one at 3.8 mph (total) for warm up and cool down.6 -
So many beautiful pictures shared since I last updated. Thank you for sharing! I love being able to see where others run.
We had more snow today, so I'm still on the treadmill. iFit took me to Croatia for a nice change of scenery.

@shesgotaplan I have an iFit treadmill too, but I never signed up for it. My internet is so spotty, I assume it wouldn't do well. I'm glad you got to "go" somewhere interesting for your run.

Sunny, mid 20s F, and a gusty breeze from the south that wasn't very warm at all. Lots of tracks in the fresh snow -- including muskrat tracks, which I haven't seen in a couple of years.
Glad everyone is doing well and/or better!!!3 -
I thought it was Prater! I love that ride, though I threw up right after
That's where Kipcoge did his 2hr marathon.5 -
Hi all. Definitely back in the game. Just did a time trial run. Ran 1.14k in 5 minutes. Average pace of 4:42 min/km! Faster than last time woop woo!7
