Thanks so much for the link to the agility...that is so crazy ...those doggos...wow!

I just want to say, Mihani, give yourself a bit of break...you're so hard on yourself. So much pressure at this time of year...just do your best...and if that means some pb pretzels is part of the deal, then so be it. It's ok. I wouldn't eat the entire container...but if you let go of some of the impossible "rules" or "no nos" it tends to make those food that are so enticing, not so much anymore.

You'll get back to the TM...you will. Right now, you are in a pressure cooker and some things have to take a back seat...but it's not forever.

You are doing great...this time of year (and boy do I know it well...and boy do I know the pressure it brings...I believe I told you, my dad was a CPA and had his own tax practice OUT OF OUR HOUSE!...trust me, I get it!)

Do your best, look for ways to help yourself...whether it's Daily Harvest or frozen convenience...supplement with fresh, easy to prepare veggies...have some fruit ...give yourself a snack and don't beat yourself up.

That's it...that's what I wanted to say. And I'm sending loads of hugs from Lulu and me.

Thanks Nanc *hugs* I don't recall you saying your dad was a CPA but yeah it's a crazy time of year. And I don't even do the taxes! I just have to put them together on all our cases and hand them off to our CPA to do, then coordinate the signatures and mailing, keep an eye on all the due dates, etc. But in addition to my usual workload it's a lot.

I usually don't even get my own taxes done until April. LOL

Glad you enjoyed the agility video. I love those dogs. So amazing! I had a border collie many years ago before agility was really a thing. She would have been awesome at it. Most of my dogs have been shepherd or lab mixes and they weren't into it at all, but the 3 dogs that I had at the time I decided to get into agility were "middle aged" for dogs and they were like what? You want me to run and jump over stuff? Really, lady? Now, given my work life it's good that I have mostly had lazy couch dogs, but I think it would have been really fun.

    Today was better...
B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of PB, cara cara orange
L - "detox salad" with a few Mary's crackers and an apple
    D - leftover farro and cooked veggies/greens

Also had a vegan chocolate. My boss found them for Valentine's Day. I'm not much tempted by sweets so it's fine to have them around. I'll eat one maybe a couple times a week. They will last for a long time.

Good morning my dear friends! I’m using the voice command thing on my iPad it’s kind of working pretty nicely.

Mihani, your menu was delicious. Really really nice.

I am so cozy in my bed right now with a sweatshirt on lots of blankets two T-shirts. I’ll tell you must be the pain medication that makes you freeze because I am so frozen all the time.

Anyway yesterday I had a big order from Instacart. All vegetables. They’re in the fridge raider and they’re being OK right now in green bags …but I didn’t have the energy to chop up and make the grilled vegetable salad that I plan on making. Hopefully today, after therapy, I will be able to do that after my nap. I took a really nice picture of it I’m gonna try and load it up here.

If I don’t make the salad today I for sure will make it tomorrow because it’s my day off no therapy

I’m really not sure too much about my menu today I will be having coffee and oatmeal with soy milk. I shall talk to you sweet people later.

Looks like some great veggies, Nanc!

Mihani, I enjoyed watching that video! My mother-in-law, who lives in Kentucky, does agility training / competitions with border collies. She stopped for a while there when she didn't have a suitable dog, but she is back at it again with her young border collie, Zeke. Thanks for the reminder, I will have to check in with her and see how it's going.

I've not done great with food. Work day today, so it is harder to get in steps as I go, but I will go for my walks.

I have an orchid about to bloom. This poor plant has been near death multiple times over many years, but a while back I moved the orchids to the bathroom for the steam and so I see them to water them. They now get consistent watering, enjoy the steam and the windows in the bathroom, and now one of them is about to pop! It has been so long that I don't even know what color the petals will be.

Okay, nothing too exciting, need to dive into my work. Have a good one!

Wowza, those veggies look beautiful, Nanc! Your grilled veggie salad sounds really good. Is it a recipe you can share or do you just grill them and toss with your lettuce?

Carla, hope you get all your work done today. I love orchids. I missed the orchid exhibit at the local conservatory this year. I love that place. It's so serene to visit, wander around and look at the plants. That's so cool your MIL does agility with her dogs.

That's it from here! Back to work. :)

Working from home tomorrow, yay! I'm pretty much fed up with everyone and everything and have an ugly project to work on tomorrow so I will hopefully have some uninterrupted time. Office this weekend.

Food not too bad not too great...
B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter, an orange
L - leftover farro and the greens/onion/beans concoction
S - damn peanut butter pretzels
D - getting ready to eat probably just a frozen entree unfortunately

Making a promise to myself that the treadmill WILL get done in the mornings again starting tomorrow.

Got sidetracked with texts and emails about work so I forgot about this post. Yes I did have a frozen entree for dinner and now I'm heading to bed to read for a bit and sleeeeep.

Ladies, I promise to be back later...just getting ready for P.T. Sleeping or lack of thereof is my biggest complaint right now...

Have a wonderful day...back later with PT report. LOVE YOU GUYS!

Nice 11 hour workday at home. Boy Friday nights sure aren't as fun as they used to be! LOL

But I got through my nightmare file and just a few things to wrap up/review with my boss and we're done with this thing. Yay!

Also got a load of laundry done while I was working That's the really nice thing about working from home. Can do other chores. Wish I could work from home more often.

Now on to the next nightmare file, but for a brief moment I get to feel good about something being done.

I'm just now getting to dinner which will be light, probably just soup from the freezer supply, and then bedtime and in the office tomorrow and Sunday.

Hope your PT went well, Magic. How are you doing pain-wise?

A wild Friday night, Mihani LOL Congrats on getting the nightmare project done!!
Yep, working from home is great for getting things done around the house. (As I sit in my messy house!)

It's a windy and rainy morning here so no temptation to do yard work. It's getting to be that time of year though. The next few dry days in a row that we get, we need to prune the fruit trees. And then pick up and haul all the trim to a burn pile. Joe can do all of the pruning, and I'll pick up the branches, but normally that involves huge arm loads and my left arm / shoulder is still out of commission.

Here's the beet after 2 weeks of daily work on it (and nearly 2 weeks past that deadline I was actually thinking I had a shot at making).
    kgk23bonmgzj.jpg

Dinner tonight will be cauli curry. This batch turned out good. I also need to peruse my bean recipes and find something that I can have made up in the fridge as a side or snack.

    Happy Saturday!

Love it, Carla! What a fun tapestry especially for hanging in the kitchen. I'm still having sympathy pains in my right upper arm. It's okay unless I stretch certain directions then the pain is unreal and I have to wait a minute or two for it to pass.

    Yum to cauliflower curry.

My salad prepper got carried away this week. I am going to be making a HUGE stir-fry of the broccoli, maybe half the big container of napa cabbage (the rest will go in my salads), bok choy, chard, kale. I'll add chickpeas or edamame to the stir-fry. She always gives me two gallon size ziploc bags of lettuce and I can't usually use it all up, but I had a "well, duh" moment last week that I should be eating my cooked veggies over a bed of lettuce in addition to using it in my salads, so I hope to both up my raw greens intake and use up my lettuce this week. Think I will make quinoa for this week, and maybe some brown rice when that runs out. Have carrots, radish, peppers for my salads.

I have been way of the rails the past few days with blue corn chips and peanut butter pretzels. Promised myself that if I'm really hungry I will eat some fruit or some of my cooked or raw veggies rather than letting the junky stuff win.

Spent a little over 5 hours in the office today and brought home the rest of this project so I can stay home tomorrow. My pupper is looking so old and turning so gray lately, and I just hate being away from him when I don't absolutely have to be. He's not very demanding of attention or anything, but he likes when I'm home and snoozes on the rug in my home office.

Well, I did not keep my promise and get back here... :s My driver got a flat tire on the way to PT, so we had to fix it and then it was too late to go. So, they will add that day to the end of my order.

I came home, ate, slept and was a bit out of sorts. Yesterday, same!

Finally got a good night's sleep last night...well, six hours...that is good for me. Sleeping ON MY BACK, with leg elevated and ice pack...not easy...but actually only way I can sleep, otherwise knee hurts.

Gorgeous BEET, Carla! You are so talented. Sorry bout the shoulder, still.

WTG on getting your work done, Mihani. You know, working from home is great but I think you have to be super disciplined! I would find too many things to do to distract me. Things I would not think of doing if I did not have REAL WORK to do. Go figure.

    Today...

    coffee with Nutpod creamer
Ezekiel toast with Just Egg folded and jam
finally, going to prep my veggies and cook em up...FINALLY. I did take the time to put them in green bags so they would stay fresh.

Might make some Jasmine Rice to go along...not sure.

Gorgeous sunny day here...I still cannot drive since I am taking oxycodone 2.5 mg every six hours. Sometimes I go a lot longer but never shorter. The pills are five mg and I cut them in half.

Alrighty then...later girlies...I am off to ride my recumbent bike for ten minutes. Yay me!

Hi Magic, what a bummer about the flat tire! I like working from home because I'm not getting interrupted every few minutes and can actually get things finished. The biggest temptation is to take a nap. When you are tired at the office you have to push through, but at home there's a bed or recliner tempting you.

Didn't really get a good start until almost 11:30 this morning. Got up at 5:30 with good intentions, had a couple cups of green tea, and then went back to bed for a while. LOL

Just taking a break now to eat some of the stir-fry and brown rice then back up to my desk.

B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter, sumo orange, roasted broccoli and carrot
    L - stir-fry and brown rice, a banana
    D - big ol' salad

Well, at least it was a nap, Mihani...something that will serve you well to get more things done!

Your menus are always so nice...and clean.

Not mine...I am usually the one with some processed vegan food...but it is getting better these days, as I am able to stand.

NOW, my surgery/bad knee is my GOOD knee...and my stand by ok knee is my BAD knee. Did you get that? LOL

Rode the bike 15 minutes. The tension is pretty relaxed...not trying for any records there...just getting the knees to rotate. Zero pain when I peddle...well, some pain starts near the end in my right NON BIONIC KNEE>

Made the veggie...just ok...but very little seasoning...salt and lemon. That's it. And did not make t hem all.

Making jasmine rice right now. Will freeze some. Might have tomato soup for dinner.

    That's it for now.

Happy Sunday, what's left of it!

Oh my goodness! Nanc! That's amazing that your bionic knee is already the good one now. Yay!!! How's Lulu doing? Are the two of you able to go for walks together yet?

Did you get through the majority of your fresh prepped veggies, Mihani? Every time I read 'prepper friend' I have this instant of thought that you're referring to a prepper friend as in one who has food, ammunition etc stored up. Just one instant, but pretty much every time LOL

Thanks for the beet love, gals. It is one of those big projects that I set aside years ago. I thought I'd finish it up as a good restart point on my tapestry journey, but I forgot what a slow process it is. I'm still going to finish it, but I'm now thinking it will be 3 more weeks before it is all done. It will be roughly 18" x 28".

We had homemade chili for dinner last night and are having it again tonight. Yum. I had such a good start yesterday only to blow it after dinner. It is a struggle. Today is a new day.

blueberry banana oatmeal or smoothie, we'll see
    oranges, apple snack
    chili dinner, fruit dessert

next shop i'm going to bite the bullet and get a pile of fresh greens for a daily salad. maybe a big old box of prepared mixed greens to lower the prep work and then a bunch of additions. I think a salad for lunch every day would go a long way towards getting me on track and getting those leafy greens into my bod!

    Mihani Posts: 4,052 Member
Carla, do you like greens in your smoothies? Adding a couple big handfuls of baby kale or baby spinach, or a head of romaine, would help get those raw greens in.

Nanc, you are making great progress on your recovery. That's all good news! Sorry your salad wasn't quite what you hoped.

    Today was okay (mostly) ...
B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter, sumo mandarin
    L - leftover brown rice and stir-fry
    D - big ol' salad

Then a handful of peanut butter pretzels this afternoon. Sigh...

Will probably have an apple or a cara cara orange later this evening.

Ladies Ladies Ladies...I slept a bit on my side last night...oh man, such a relief. Not the whole night but a little...I have been sleeping on my back since surgery...not that fun.

Anyway, today I get help with cleaning...all the clutter is picked up...everything is where it is supposed to be...so that's good.

    today

    coffee with nutpod original creamer
just egg folded with ezekiel toast and jam
lunch will be amy gf plant based burrito
dinner, I will grill up more veggies and rice...this time I will use a grill pan. before, I used a griddle..not the same...at least I hope it's better

    dessert...zen chocolate pudding

    the end...have a lovely day...we MIGHT GET RAIN...so exciting!

Hope you get your rain, Nanc! Enjoy the side sleeping.

I'm on the no-nut-train toot toot! 2 days in the bag, today is day 3. I'm going for no nut snacks rather than no nuts at all. I'll have them in my dressings, etc. as recipes call for them.

I made such good progress on my tapestry yesterday! I put some time into planning out the rest of it and it is really paying off.

Oh! The store has been out of the regular brand of miso I have been purchasing over the years (1 small tub lasts a long time) so I was getting desperate, and found a bag of miso (like just paste in a bag, what?) that looked very authentic, so I went for it and squeeee! the flavor! New go-to. (bag as container is super dumb as expected. transferred to glass container with lid.)

    Today:
    smoothie
    fruit
big veggie stir 'fry' - I'm going to make up some sort of gingery miso stir fry sauce to amp up the flavor

Woohoo, 'grats on happy sleep, Nanc. Hope dinner is good.

Carla, can't recall the brand but I have bought that pouch stuff before and agreed... STUPID packaging. I haven't seen it lately so I get the ones in the little containers now like cream cheese size.

Major thunderstorms last night got little sleep between thunder literally rattling the windows and shaking the house and the dog being completely terrified. I am heading to bed soon because I was definitely out of sorts today. Whereas the dog is just fine... all good in lab world. He got to sleep all day.

B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter
L - ezekiel tortilla stuffed with lettuce and veggies, an almond milk yogurt
    D - leftover stir-fry and brown rice

    Too many starches.

Aww sorry for you and the doggo after that terrible sleep.

I found a little lump in my neck last week, so I am going to the doctor this Friday. Since I'll be there anyway, I'm going to ask about my shoulder. We'll see. Booked my mammogram and an ultrasound follow up while I was at it.

Day 3 of no date-nut snacks yesterday.

    B - smoothie or oatmeal
L - miso soup, orange or two
D - veggie stir fry (broccoli, asparagus, onions, mushrooms, peppers and fresh ginger) with baked tofu

Got caught up on sleep last night thank goodness. Still tired but not in such a snippy mood. I've been really busy and stressed so I'm feeling a little run down.

You just reminded me, Carla. I am going to take one of the containers of miso to the office (I always have 2 or 3 in the fridge) and when I want to go foraging in the snack cabinet I will make a cup of miso broth like you have been doing. I forget what you said you use but I'm thinking probably a mug with a tablespoon of miso mixed with hot water? Maybe add a pinch of ginger.

Hope the lump is nothing to worry about, Carla. I have had a little lump in my neck since high school. My doctor at the time said not to worry about it, and other doctors since then have told me the same thing, but it bugs me! It's never really changed much over the years. High school was a long, long time ago for me.

B - ezekiel toast with a smidge of almond butter, cara cara orange
    L - leftover stir-fry and brown rice
    D - big ol' salad

Hi all, quick check in. Still work to do tonight. Things aren't going to let up for a few weeks at least. I'll definitely be working all weekend.

Totally munched on sun chips today. Seriously? Sun chips? I haven't eaten those in at least 5 years. They were good but ugh.

    Other than that...
B - ezekiel toast with almond butter
    L - Dr. McD soup
    D - big ol' salad

    Gotta get back to work!
  • Carla_wfpb
    Carla_wfpb Posts: 1,381 Member
Wow! Sun Chips! Brings back memories...haven't had them since early college years! My friend and I would always have a diet coke and french onion sun chips during our marathon cram sessions.

Got back from doctor's appointment. She referred me for physiotherapy for my shoulder. Ugh so many appointments and more to make. At least my mammogram and the physio appointments will be in my town, no need to drive 30+ minutes each way to go to the city.

I had 2 vegan packaged brownies yesterday. Darn that Whole Foods! There are a few things we can't get locally at Safeway, so every 2 months or so, we end up doing a WF order and end up with some junk included. Gardein holiday roasts were 66% off, so we picked up a couple of those, too. Not the end of the world but not top-notch nutrition by a long shot.

So, although I had the brownies, I am still on my no-nut train.

This weekend I'm going to do some house cleaning. The border restrictions are easing up on Feb 28, so I'm anticipating a visit from my parents soon after that. This house is most definitely not visitor ready!!

    Happy Friday!

Good morning. I finished my nightmare project. I think I only have 4 remaining nightmare projects to deal with and I have high hopes I will finish them over the next couple months. It's just finding the time to work on these big time consuming things when I have 700+ other files to cope with and always putting out fires.

I have been eating too much junk food the past week. I've been really tired and stressed and my usual bad habit of falling back on junky food like pretzels and crackers has returned. I picked up my salads yesterday though, and will make some hummus tonight, plus I have a big bunch of greens to saute with onion, and I'll make a pot of quinoa.

Also stocked back up on fruit so I will focus on making sure that when I want a snack I grab some fruit rather than getting into the snack cabinet. I don't really snack at home often, it's at the office I have problems.

    Plan for today...
B - ezekiel english muffin with almond butter, blueberries with cinnamon and chia/flax
L - ezekiel tortilla wrap with lettuce and veggies, an apple
D - big ol' salad topped with beans and cooked greens/onions

Better start getting ready to head to the office. I need to put in full days today and tomorrow to catch up a bit, but should be able to work from home tomorrow so I can take breaks for laundry and a bit of housecleaning.

    Good morning!

Quick check in. I did end up snacking after dinner yesterday, but at least it was on cherry tomatoes and carrots with hummus. It was a nice change.

Today I'm going to do some cleaning and put in some studio time.

    b - smoothie
l - mixed greens, tomatoes, cucumber & carrot salad drizzled with a Fuhrman vinaigrette
d - spaghetti w/ baked tofu, walnut parm, chunky fresh tomato mushroom sauce
  • Mihani
    Mihani Posts: 4,052 Member
Good morning! Up early and second load of laundry started. Should be up at my desk by 9:00. Way more work to do than I can possibly get done today but I will do my best.

    Plan for today...
B - ezekiel english muffin with almond butter, an apple
    L - big ol' salad
D - sauteed onions and greens, quinoa, and I'll throw some beans in there as well

Will get another fruit in there somewhere.

Good luck with your housecleaning, Carla! I need to do some of that today myself. At least sweep up the dog hair because it's a bit out of control.

Busy busy busy. Was in the office late and want to get another hour or two of work done tonight. Work is so crazy and I'm answering the phones this week to boot because secretary is on vacation. I have to remind myself to take a deep breath and smile before I answer the phone so I don't sound like I want to pummel whoever is on the other end of the line. LOL

B - ezekiel toast, almond butter, blueberries
L - hummus and lettuce in an ezekiel wrap, raw veggies on the side (carrot, turnip, zucchini, radish)
    D - salad

Also ate two big handfuls of peanut butter pretzels today. Sigh... MUST stop that!

Have to cut back on the tea. I have been drinking too much of it and getting jittery and an upset stomach.

    Gotta go!

Took Lulu for two walks today and she totally understood the assignment...pooped outside! Major hurdle ... she passed. So happy.

    Will report back tomorrow.

Lots of fresh stuff combined with processed vegan.
