Morning all...sleep is still an issue (so I won't mention it anymore)...I'll let you know when it isn't...cuz this is getting old. I am hoping when I go back to work it will iron itself out.

MIHANI! You are rocking your potato program...wow ... double wow!
    urocksmileys.gif

Loving my nama J2....made carrot/orange/ginger/lemon yesterday AND green juice (super greens, celery, cukes, lemon, ginger, apple, pineapple) About four quarts...sooooooooooo easy! I have a gizmo to vacuum seal...so they will be fresh for sure for 7 days...but I will drink them up before then.

Nothing really going on here...weather is beautiful. Will try and get to the pool today. See how I feel.

    Wishing everyone an AMAZING APRIL!

Thanks for starting the thread, Nanc! Sending wishes for a good night's sleep tonight. Glad you are enjoying your new juicer.

Happy (belated) birthday, Carla! Hope you have fun today. How did I miss it? I wished you an early happy birthday and a late happy birthday, but missed the day. LOL

I decided to make potato cabbage soup with onion and carrot... it's in process and should be delicious!

Went to the office for a while this morning mostly to talk to boss about transitions and issues at office, and I'm exhausted. Tomorrow will be ALL about work but today I'm done for now and going to cook.

Hi all, been busy working today but think I'm going to quit for now. I want to get to bed early.

B - baked potato, roasted broccoli
    L - potato cabbage soup
D - salad topped with diced baked potato and salsa

Going to stick with the Mary's Mini McDougall through this week then will likely go back to regular WFPB. I'm just happy that it shook me off the plateau!

Awesome job with the juicing, Nanc. Glad you love your new juicer.

I saw all of the birthday wishes, thank you ladies :) It has been a big long celebration.

We had the most wonderful visit with my parents. It was so nice to see them. The time flew because I don't even know what we did but 5 hours was gone. Everyone had a foot massage, I know that. There was a deal of the day on Amazon, and I spontaneously purchased a shiatsu foot and leg massager. It is so amazing. The next best thing to someone giving you a great foot massage. In some ways better, because you don't have to go anywhere, can be in your pjs if you want, and just press the button as many times as you want. It runs on 15 minute cycles and uses heat, vibration, pressure and rollers to get the job done. Amazing. Anyway, we all were using it and then my parents ending up buying it off of us so I had to order a second one! Luckily it arrived the next day (yesterday) and I've used it half a dozen times since.

Now that all the celebrating is behind us, it is time to get serious. I'm ready for it.

    B - oatmeal or smoothie
L - slice bread w/ hummus, apple or orange
D - spaghetti w/ mushroom tomato sauce & walnut parm

So glad you had a nice birthday celebration and visit, Carla. That foot massage thing sounds pretty sweet might have to look at that. Can you tell me the brand?

Nanc, how goes juicing and PT?

Long day today but got through. We have a couple interviews scheduled this week for a new front desk person so hopefully one of them will work out. A lot of the resumes just didn't do much for me but these two sound like decent prospects.

Didn't get to bed as early last night as I hoped and wasn't as well rested as I'd like today. Going to bed at 8:00 tonight and will read for an hour then lights out.

    Mary's mini continues...
    B - smoothie
L - cabbage and potato soup
    S - half a baked potato
D - salad topped with chopped up baked potato and salsa, some roasted broccoli

For me it shows a $100 off coupon under the price, so make sure you get the discount if you decide to buy it. I saved an additional $40ish off on top of that with the deal of the day. Idk how often those come around.

Good luck with the interviews! Finding someone is almost a full time job between fielding incoming calls, weeding out the potentials and interviews. And then training. ugh. It will be good for your team in the long run if you can get the right person. Fingers crossed.

    Quick fly by...

started a modified juice fast today...

all juices all day except one vegan pho without noodles or a salad if desired...also, fruit, if desired...today it was watermelon. I also had vegan pho ... leftover from Sunday night.

and coffee, black, first thing in the morning.

can't believe it's almost six here and I have stuck to it.

made 7 quarts of juice today.

    back tomorrow to catch up.

    Good morning,

I was so tired last night I didn't even check in here. I had a cup of soup and went to bed at 7:30. Slept for a few hours, got up and had some herbal tea then back to bed until the alarm went off.

Thanks for the tip on the foot massager, Carla. I think I may have to get one of those.

Good luck with your juicing, Nanc!

The first gal we interviewed seems ideal. Hope we get her. She has another interview next week she wants to keep but she liked us and we think she'd be a good fit for our office.

I'll leave it at that. -sigh-

good news on the possible new hire, Mihani...fingers crossed for your pick.

thank you both for the good wishes on my modified juice fast

...I'll tell you, the juice tastes amazing...and it was so easy. I have a gizmo that vacuum seals the juice in my wide mouth mason jars...these are 32 ouncers. So, for sure, they will stay fresh. Most likely I will have 1 1/2 quarts to two a day...and a couple quarts of water.

today I am going to order a pho from a new restaurant...I received an uber eats gift card to use during recoup time...I'LL PUT IT TO THE TEST TODAY.

    SO, the plan today is:

    coffee
    juice
    juice
    pho
    juice
    more juice
    watermelon

    the end.

Hi All, nothing new here other than I did get a follow up email from the gal we interviewed yesterday thanking us for the time and she enjoyed meeting us. I take that as a good sign.

I'm going to go to bed early again tonight. I'm just worn out. It has been a rough few weeks. I hope things can settle a little after next week.

Glad you are enjoying your juice so much, Nanc.

CAUTION: A bit of rambling ahead!

    Yesterday, I had

    one coffee
    1 1/2 quarts juice
6 jalapeno/garlic olives (get em at costco. did you know olives are good for gut health)
1/2 order vegan pho with noodles (new Vietnamese restaurant is really good...delivery was easy using uber eats GC.)
watermelon. Bought a two pack at costco last week...oh M Geeeeeeee...so sweet. just got lucky I guess.
water, but I need to drink more

Will give you a total loss # after ten days.

I ordered two orders of pho...so will have 1/2 for four days. I do have fresh veggies to throw in the air fryer. Besides not being great at JUICE FASTING...the eating a little something, I think, is good for me, just to help me heal. Not sure but maybe. And good excuse to eat a bit...I just can't seem to do a complete fast.

I will say in two days, I feel better...I am eating considerably less and am not looking for stuff that I should not be eating.

My biggest hang-up is still lack of being able to sleep. Sorry if I am repeating myself: I was never the best sleeper but I did manage to get more than two hours a night. I am able to nap...which I must do or I will really be a mess.

I just cancelled my YOUTUBE TV subscription...70 bucks a month. And I watch dopey stuff. Plus, I have Netlfix, Amazon Prime TV and Discovery Plus...plenty to watch.

So, I am going to sign up for a gym membership...$40 a month...mainly to use the sauna. And maybe the recumbent bikes and upright bikes ...big maybe there. My NEW KNEE is fine on either...but my NOW problem child RIGHT KNEE is having a tough go of it. However, hopefully there will be some machines I will be able to use that the PTs will instruct me on. Hoping the sauna might help my sleeping. Gym is 10 minutes away...4.5 miles. So, I will use it.

My physical therapy place is fabulous. They are going to ask to extend my visits when I go back to work...Tuesdays and Thursdays...really trying to strengthen both legs at this point...my bend is sucky. 105 barely on my own. HOWEVER...

My two biggest goals were met...GET OUT OF PAIN AND WALK WITHOUT A LIMP.

So, no complaints...well, just a little complaining. ;)

Nanc, you have some great momentum going with juicing and exercise. That's fantastic!

I really hope you get the right person in your office Mihani. Fingers crossed.

It is so nice living in a clean house. We need to have company over once a month just to get the big stuff done. Dust off of the baseboards, full floor mop, etc. Still loving the foot massager. I lose count of how often I use it (5+ times a day?) so I hope it is okay to use a lot. It is good for circulation. I think I might wear out my socks though LOL

I signed up for an online class on dyeing textiles using natural dyeing methods with tannins, oxides and indigo. It starts mid-May and before it begins, I have to collect a bunch of rusty objects for print making. I bought the kit that they sell alongside the class, so I'll be getting a nice variety of fabric as well as the dyes and mordants.

Today we're going to make a taco salad for dinner, and I think I'll go for a smoothie for breakfast. I've been having oatmeal for the past few weeks so I'm ready to go back, especially since the weather is getting warmer.

Hi all, another quick check in late day at the office again. I do think the gal I want to hire is going to accept the job. Woohoo!!! She seems to have such a positive, can-do attitude about work and life, and my boss spoke with one of her former employers who really sang her praises. If she's as good as we hope my life is finally, finally, going to start getting a little easier.

Nanc, the gym is a great idea! Your diet sounds very doable and healthy. Have you talked to the doctor about your sleep problems?

Carla, that class sounds interesting. You are always off on another creating adventure! Taco salad yum!

That menu sounds SUPER healthy and light, Nanc. Love it!

I am feeling SO optimistic right now. First time in a long time. If this gal decides on another job I'll be devastated. I'm not too worried though. She said she liked the vibe she got when we were all talking in the interview and has had two follow up calls with my boss.

I'm still eating light and trying to take it easy outside work. Early to bed etc. I am going to schedule an appointment with my doctor next week to get checked out. My boss is on me because he's worried. I hate going to the doctor but I guess it's time to figure out what's going on with me. I brought work home so I don't have to go to the office this weekend, yay! I would so much rather work here and hang out with my very senior pup. I wonder how long he'll be around sometimes, and I want to spend as much time as I can with him.

Heart strings pulled with that post, Mihani. 💙 🐶💙

Hope you get to the doc and get checked out…ease your mind a bit.

Just finishing day four. Stuck to my menu.

Signed up for gym. Very nice. I need a gym bag and lock. Will get that early tomorrow and take a sauna tomorrow. Price is not that bad…36.50 a month. Listen, my tv subscription to YouTube TV was $71. So I am ahead. 😉

Going to have some blueberries and chill with Lulu.

    Later my sweets.

Mornin' all... Nanc that gym looks very nice! I have been thinking about getting a recumbent bike but I need to stop spending so much money for a bit. I want to pay down the credit line that I used to finish all the work on the house remodel. Maybe I should look into a gym though. There's a community center with a nice gym not far from me that is reasonable.

Laundry started and grocery delivery on the way, then I'll head up to my desk for the rest of the day. I'm going to a concert at the arts center tonight though. Soooo looking forward to it! It has been a very long time since I've done something fun like that.

Have potatoes in the oven baking and will be eating potatoes, smoothies and salads this week. Will add beans to my salads. Since my stomach has been bugging me I've been blending my salads or using the salad scissors to chop them well.

Okay better keep at it before I lose momentum!

Did not stick to my menu…could not sleep, so I microwaved a small potato and ate it plain and had a few almonds and walnuts. I did manage sleep last night…not great but bot horrible. I’ll take it.

Talking to the doc about my sleep? What will they say? Meds? Not going that route. I think it is because I was on pain meds for 8ish weeks that it did mess me up. I was able to sleep with pain medication. Also, my legs are so restless at night since surgery…but they are starting to calm down. This seems to be a common side effect of knee replacement. I am hopeful that being back to work, going to the sauna and just being more active will be the MAGIC PILL.

But, I am going to mention it to surgeon…last appointment, for awhile, this Tuesday.

    Coffee
    Juices
Green bean, Zucchini and French fry 🍟 potatoes in the air fryer
    Fresh blueberries and pineapple

    Sparking water.

    The end.

ENJOY THE CONCERT 🎶 TONIGHT, MIHANI.

    Later, my sweets.

20 minutes in the sauna, followed by 1 hour in the pool.

Going back to gym later to use sauna again. Going at six . When I start back to work…I will be getting into the sauna about 7:30 …leave about 8. Now normally I would hate driving at night I’m a big chicken but I’m going to give it a try because if this will help my sleeping you know that’s what I’m going to do.

However my trial time right now before I go back to work might give me my answer. It might just be something I’ll do you know during the day when I’m off work and it won’t have any effect on my sleeping but here’s a big but I’m hoping that it will really help my sleep and that I will go every night just before sleeping. Hope that made sense I dictated it

Made it to gym… 20 minutes in the sauna. The whole turnaround was about an hour from my house to the gym, in the sauna to back home about an hour I think I can reduce the time by going a different route there …coming home I have a very fast route. That’s all sweet dreams everyone

I slept the most I have slept since this period of horrible sleeping began. I am excited! And I feel very rested. It is not 8 hours...not even close. But so much more (and better quality) that I had been getting.
So promising is my sauna experiment! goldstar.gif

Glad you got some better sleep, Nanc.

The concert last night was fun.

Got up and swept up the dog hair from the main floor. Will get the upstairs when I head up to my desk. Going to have some breakfast then work the rest of the day.

    Plan for today...
    B - the usual smoothie
L - big ol' salad (chopped up and topped with pickled onion, beans and a simple balsamic/dijon dressing)
D - baked potato, steamed cauliflower, salsa

Good to hear the sauna experiment was a success, Nanc! What date do you go back to work again?

A concert...wow...it has been so long since I've gone to one. Glad to hear it was fun, Mihani! When do you find out if the person you want to hire is going to join the team?

Joe and I went to the nearby metal recycling place yesterday, and I scored some good finds for my upcoming class. While we were there, I also found a huge brass pot for my living room, and a copper rectangular planter. It was funny paying for decorative objects by the pound!

I'm soaking garbanzo beans overnight to make up a big batch of tu-no salad tomorrow. I always seem to do better when that is ready to go.

It's a sunny day here, so if the wind holds off, I'm going to get outside and do some things that I can work on despite my shoulder issue. I might pull some weeds. Yesterday I tried to do some 'light' raking, but my shoulder did not approve, so I think that nixes me preparing an area to scatter wildflower seeds as well.

b - breakfast in town, yay!
L - skip, breakfast will be more like brunch
D - taco salad (been a long time, was really good yesterday)

Quick hi. We got her! She starts 2 weeks from tomorrow. WOOHOO! I can't wait.

Great job with the gym and pool and walking, Nanc. You are being so good at staying active and that has to be helping your recovery from surgery.

Carla, glad you scored some metal for your class plus bonus finds. Were you able to get out and enjoy the sunshine?
