Is there already a discussion thread on stress eating? I need help, getting very discouraged with myself 😞
It's part of our discussions in this week's Group Challenge...go back a page or two in this thread and you'll find the Group Challenge link! Join us...or just discuss it here...I have issues with that myself...it can be hard to fight...and I know what you mean...when it happens, I get so mad at myself for "eating my feelings" as I call it! How can we help? What brings it on for you? How do you cope with it?
I saw three posts about it in the past 24 hours in THIS chat room, so you're not alone...seems to be a thing this week!
Jessica
Thank you Jessica, that's one thing that I've been trying to keep up on is the threads here since that's what is great about this community...but it's like there's not enough of me to go around with family and work and just life. I'll go back and take a look, thanks again!1 -
@laceyf53 ah! such a beautiful 🙀 sending hugs ❤
@PatriceFitnessPal I thought I would share what habits & strategies I use to maintain healthy eating & exercise.Not that I'm always successful but as with anything it's a roller coaster with many things that get in the way,like LIFE,STRESS,FAMILY /WORK ,CRAVINGS.
I find it hard to be consistent with my habits which is why over the years I tend to yoyo.I used to think it was bad for your body to yoyo but recently I read that it is OK as each time you lose excess weight it is good for your body & health.
If I do these things then my results are better & I have success so;
1) Track everything that goes in my mouth,be honest with yourself.
2) Drink at least 2 litres of water a day
3) Weigh all my food to be certain of portion sizes & calorie counting
4) Walk every day & move more.
5) Find an exercise you love & get your heart rate up at least 15 mins a day.
6) Set small goals for yourself
7) Don't let the scales rule your life,learn to love your body & NSVs along the journey.
8) Make some time for yourself.
Hope some of these tips may be useful to some members.Have a great Tuesday 🙂

Hello everyone. I have been a bit more active the past few days which was nice. I can tell I haven't walked in a while though; it isn't going nearly as smooth as before. I went for a walk on Sunday and Monday morning. Saturday my dad came to visit. He is really busy with moving my elderly aunt and sorting out her old home and he is building his own tiny house. We went into town and I bought some resistance bands to do some exercise at home.
I got a message on Saturday from my neighbour as well, asking me to look after the cat for 3 days. There have been a few more incidents since my last update (he never ordered things/food, went back and forth on me giving me the gel and eventually asked me to stop because she wasn't eating anyway, refusing medication from the vet after she got neurological issues and could barely walk). So I told him I didn't want to catsit anymore because it is giving me too much stress and that I don't want to be responsible for an unstable cat who isn't getting the proper care she needs. I am sorry for the cat, but he literally never took any of my advice and apparently isn't listening to the vet either, so I am not willing to put in my time and energy when it will not matter anyway.
My food has been good as well for a change, so I will do my best to keep that up.
Happy Tuesday everyone5 -

@laceyf53 I'm sorry for your loss and grief, what a beautiful photo! Hope your new kitten will bring you some joy.
@PatriceFitnessPal a 1:40am 12 hour train ride? Wow, that's a late deparature and a long ride!! Hope you were able to catch some sleep either on the train or when you got back and that you enjoyed your trip. Re: healthy choices when eating out....I do really enjoy side salads. I love trying new flavours and experiencing some variety in tastes. But I also find myself often wanting just a taste of something less healthy. In particular, I love to eat a few french fries or have a sip of a sweet drink. If I'm eating with family, I usually ask if they'll share that taste with me and sometimes they'll ask if I'd share some salad with them. It doesn't always work out but nice when it does.
@KHill875 I love that you are riding bikes to your child's school! We used to walk our kids to school and back and we'd often have some good conversations en route.
The last few days I've slept really poorly. Had a sick doggy overnight and then a couple nights of insomnia. Being tired has resulted in a few days of less than ideal eating and exercise habits. But I have a hockey game tonight and it's the first one of the summer play offs. It should be fun and I'm hoping some intense exercise will help with sleep tonight.4 -
Hi y'all:
Came home to the backsplash completely finished in the kitchen and the floor has been tiled. Perhaps tomorrow they'll be able to start grouting, but not sure...might take one more day to settle...not sure. It's looking so nice in there...really happy so far!
Going to go walk for a bit then lie down and read. Have a wonderful evening!

Today is wellness Wednesday but I’m not feeling too well so I apologize for not posting any wellness information to motivate us.
I got my second shingles vaccine yesterday afternoon and it’s been a rough day. I’ve felt tired and achy, and the joint pain made it difficult to sleep. I’ve heard a bad reaction is a good sign of a strong immune system but it feels like the opposite to me. I’m hoping to feel better by tomorrow morning.
I hope everyone is doing well.

I’m so glad the renovation is coming together. It must feel great to see the progress each day. Congratulations!3 -
@izzyred9400 and @pedal_power - Thanks for sharing health tips that work for you! I enjoyed reading your ideas and look forward to trying some of them!2
-
@pedal__power - How are your hockey playoff games going? My father was a professional ice hockey player and coach so I love the sport. I have so many fond memories from the Olympics, World Cup, and day-to-day activities related to the hockey community. I’ve been thinking about joining our City’s roller hockey league but I haven’t done it. You’re motivating me to follow through on my initial inquiry. My brother is a coach now and he said he’d give me a stick but we keep forgetting— one of these days I’ll get my act together and I’ll probably be one of the oldest players in the league! Good luck with your playoff games!!1
-
@pupowl - I’m glad to hear you are eating well and feeling more energy! It’s too bad your neighbor is still ignoring your advice but good for you for setting limits with him. I’m sure it must be frustrating to witness but it sounds as though you are putting the necessary distance between yourself and the cat saga. Hang in there!1

Good evening everyone. Well the school year has started, got my office sorta organized, still waiting on cabinets, but its functiinal at least. Ugh, 3 days in and im already reminded why im not sure I like that job anymore. All the admin is like the snoody, better than everyone else club and I just cant with them, ugh. If I had someway to get my kids to and from school a couple days a week, Id quit there and go full time at my other job, but Gotta do what you gotta do I guess. I also hate how much I sit at that job, I feel so lazy, ugh, I hate it. Hopefully I can get back into an early morning workout routine soon though. Trying to get back into a more regular sleep schedule though.3

@angmarie28 - I hope you can find another reliable family you trust to join a school carpool, or you can get back into your early morning exercise routine, so you can improve your work situation.1

@laceyf53, wishing you continued blessings of all the fondest memories of your beloved "meow"! She is so beautiful - those eyes! I'm hoping you feel and see little "signs" that tell you she is still near. My last cat was 18 when she passed. She was sedated and euthanized at home due to renal failure. I just found the original rescue adoption papers for my current cat, "Mimichou" and discovered that she is actually 17 (not 16 as I had thought)! I dread the day when it's time to say "Goodbye" (for now) but at least we can be comforted that they had a very nice life and were/are still deeply loved and treasured forever.1

@PatriceFitnessPal unfortunately, I do not live in the school district that I work at and my kids go to, on top of that, this school has the most ridiculous staggered start and end times. My daughter goes 8am-2pm everyday, and My boys go 9am-4pm everyday except Wednesdays on which they have late in day and go 10am to 4pm, so carpool isnt happening, haha. Its ok, luckily I rarely have to deal with anyone in admin, Im left to myself 90% of the time, and when I do have to deal with others (except students) Im either bringing meds to a class, helping with cares for special needs students, or doing something quick in the front office. If I had to deal with the upper people more, I would find a way out. They have caused so many people to leave its crazy.

Been really having a hard time waking up in the morning to workout. Hoping to get to bed early enough to actually wake up early tomorrow. I try to get to bed early, but I stay up making sure my kids are going to sleep, ugh. then a few nights ago, one of my smoke alarms kept going off, then stopping, then going again, I finally took the battery out. The next night I woke up in the middle of the night to a squawking bird. I woke up thinking "why does that bird sound like it is inside"...then I realized my daughter has a bird, and the dang thing escaped and my dogs were trying to catch it, so I have to catch a bird while fighting off the dogs in the middle of the night so maybe thats why im so tired, haha.
Maybe I will try and workout tonight before bed since I have no plans tonight. I do have a cubii Jr under my desk, it isnt much but at least it keeps me moving some while Im on my computer.4 -

Beginning of the week started off really well. I've been consistent staying active in evenings with my daughter - mostly us playing 30-40 min of Badminton or taking a walk. Unfortunately my smartwatch counts the badminton activity as exercise minutes but doesn't count the steps while doing the activity (weird).
Yesterday evening we had an unfortunate incident : went for an evening walk with my sister and daughter, my little one wanted to take my mom's 4mo old puppy to train him on a leash. Towards the end of our walk, he was viciously attacked by a bull terrier that seemed to have escaped one of the residences surrounding the park - if it hadn't been for 2 males helping me to try to get this dog to release the pup, he would've for sure been shredded to pieces. Pup was still undergoing surgery this morning and seems like he will be okay (fingers crossed and praying) - we'll know more later today. I have not been able to sleep since last night and still feel alot of tension & stress in my body. Hopefully I'll feel better once I know he's safe and can go home.

@PatriceFitnessPal
Thank you, it is a bit of a relief to not have to worry about another cat anymore. I hope you feel better soon.
@Yukie_OP
That is horrible, poor puppy!!! Bad dog owners are the worst. Sounds like he was lucky to escape with his life and hopefully he will recover soon. That must have been absolutely traumatising to witness though. *hug*
