September is childhood cancer awareness month. There is very little money appropriated for childhood cancer and no new drugs in years. I came out of retirement and did a virtual cancer run for a young gal who battled cancer since age 14 and lost her battle this past April just several weeks shy of her 20th birthday. She set out to fund cancer research for her cancer and raise 1.5 million dollars before she passed. They funded a lab for her cancer with a full time researcher, we could learn a lot from such determination. It was never about herself, but how she could help end cancer in kids.

… doing better this month than I have been doing for the last few months! Completed 31 miles so far which puts me past my original goal for the month so to ensure I keep going I am going to increase my goal to 40 miles for this month!

I am doing pretty well so far this month.
We've been to the county fair twice this week and it was enough, last Saturday we were out there around 6 hours and today around half that. We hit our normal food booths: DH and I shared a bag of mini donuts & a funnel cake, then the county pork producers for lunch with lots and lots of water. It was fun and a bit nostalgic when DS2 brought his family back to the fair and introduced his 5yo to the joys and wonders of a fair.2 -

Been absent for a bit, one of my cats got out in July and I've been focused on getting him back. He ran to a ravine 2/10 of a mile away, but three weeks ago showed up on my back security cam. He's showing up almost every night, even came into my sunroom a few times but is too skittish to stay. I'm working with someone who tracks lost pets with a tracker dog, he's the one who followed his scent to the ravine. We're trying to strategize ways to get him far enough in the sunroom where I can close the back door. One failed attempt, now he's overly cautious so I'm trying to get him more comfortable before trying that agan. My ticker is in honor of the little pain in the butt who I love a lot and want back inside where he belongs.
That being said, 20 miles so far this month. The gym job gets my steps in. Too bad it's two floors, that part bad.
(thanks Dave)

@kar328: Oh Kar, A pet owners worse nightmares. Sure hope you are able to get your cat back. I had my dog get out of a vet specialty hospital in Ohio. He was going for 21 days of radiation. They were keeping him over night and taking him to radiate to a human facility because their machine broke down. He slipped his collar and I searched all night in Richmond Ohio for him and found him in a field of grass the next morning along a fence at an interstate. So scary as I lived in Pittsburgh and had to drive back out to look for him.

CONGRATS on making GOAL to @LOVEMYALEX and me!
@KAR328 - Sounds like the Brat Kitty is getting closer to coming & hopefully staying home! **FINGERS CROSSED**. And welcome back! Great to see you again!
I hoped I'd be doing more walking this month, but my unoperated-on knee is still kinda forcing me to alternate between walking and biking. I rode the exercise bike for 11.0 miles tonight to make goal a little early.
