Welcome, @welsh_cariad
I too was faced with the task of losing 100+ pounds.
One week at a time, one day at a time, one minute at a time.
Be here often..it makes a huge difference! I always do better when I'm dialed in here.
We are on a plane! Our credit card gives us free internet, so I'm checking in from the skies. Off to spend Thanksgiving with Brad's mom in Ontario so she's not alone.
Luckily we got lots of steps at the airport so I think hitting 10,000 again today will be on the mark. I had to work until 1 p.m. or so and then we got rushed to the airport and it's just nice to be relaxed and in transit.

I have had 2 perfect days in a row! I feel really motivated and l hope this feeling doesn't go away! I decided to do the weekly challenge this week and it is definitely helpful to come on here everyday. I have also set my alarm for 8pm and made sure that I have tracked for the day. So far that is working 😊
Welcome @welsh_cariad!
Have a great trip @ashleycarole86! This may be a silly question, but is Thanksgiving in Canada similar to Thanksgiving in the U.S. where a large meal is eaten together with family/friends? Any special traditions?3 -
It was such a perfect day today! Gorgeous weather, the leaves are all in their brilliant colours, and I enjoyed two walks with two different friends. And plenty of talk - it felt great to catch up and just spend time together. I got my Pilates and practicing done first thing, got all the running around done including a physio appointment and a sorely-needed haircut. I'm starting to feel ready for my trip next week!
Must be almost Friday - the list of weigh-ins due is long Love those Fridays. Here's the big list:
@AshenMoon (special honorary Friday person this week)
@PlaneMonkey
@EvMakesChanges
@conleywoods
@micki48
@LoraineGB
@bobagurl2017
@CupcakeCrusoe
@Melissa0711

Thanks!2 -
@lauren_989
You bet!! My husband's mom wants to keep things simple so we aren't cooking but she's ordered in the full turkey dinner.
My husband's siblings aren't going to be there which is the primary reason we are traveling so she won't be alone for the holiday, but it's normally a big family affair for sure.
Not as much dedicated football time here but hey we'll still be cheering for the Bills on Sunday;)
Glad you've been having such great days!!2 -
@planemonkey - you are so lucky to have the Gatineau Hills in your backyard. Every season they're so beautiful, but especially as the leaves turn colour in the fall. Neat about the library lending program - @jugar has me thinking about giving snowshoeing a try, too. I have always been a loner runner, but the *one time* that I did a Running Room run with a group, I face planted on a dock because giant nail spikes had lifted. Of course I was the one to be taken down by them. It was so embarrassing. Not surprising that was the beginning and end to my group run career. Lol.
@conleywoods - thanks for the note. I feel you on the healing powers of a PT - so happy that you're getting relief! Also, deepest respect to you for teaching little ones - such a tough, but rewarding, job!
@DD265 - like in the UK, here in Canada we are notorious about our weather "small talk". It's so hilarious. Winter gives us a lot of conversation starters. Also, thanks for the tips re: mentions!
@CupcakeCrusoe - thanks for the note and relating to the consistency piece. Love the advice to take it a day at a time... or even an hour at a time, some days. "Noise", as you say, has definitely unnecessarily derailed me over the years.
My first weigh-in day is tomorrow - fingers crossed. I've had a pretty good week overall (which I largely credit to becoming a part of this team!), and I managed to complete the first two days of the C25K program which has me really excited for the days/weeks ahead. I almost had a "pistachio incident" today - bought some shelled pistachios as a healthy treat in moderation, but man, portion control with them is tough. Definitely my biggest test of this week, food-wise, but I managed to calmly walk away from the bag of (delicious) pistachios.
TGIF WAs!

Good morning WaistAways!

trend weight from macrofactor: 179.
It also thinks I'm gaining weight (I'm not) because of the weirdly very low weigh ins I was getting while I was sick. So hopefully that will resolve in a couple weeks.
It's too early to see if we get roots on the cuttings, but I am similarly excited, @jugar. Pomegranates are my favorite, and the wood and leaves smell so good, too. We have a couple fig trees, and they like similar climates, so I'm hoping this works.
Have a great day, everyone!4 -
I'm late to the party but I'm here. I'm Sylvia,53, in Massachusetts. My weight's fluctuated throughout the decades, never remaining at a low for long. I did great with MFP and Waistaways support in 2020, lost 50 lbs and thought that would be it, the new me, forever, but no, up 25 or so lbs, it's a lifelong battle, I've learned I can't let up and must always be aware. There were major stressors in the last year but things have let up a bit...I must say 'no' to the wine and sweets...or I should just say 'no' to the 'stress grab', because I can binge on just about anything -bread with butter and jelly for example. But I am more in charge of what is in the cupboard these days and currently there's no open wine, chocolate, peanut butter, etc.
My goals for October, follow @KellyBgetsfit 's September example and be all in the green for October.
@jugar I would like to switch my weigh in day back to Thursdays please.

A great book for @DD265, @micki48, @Rachelw124 is called, "Go the *kitten* to sleep". There's a fun rendition by Samuel Jackson on YouTube I highly recommend. Of course, the book is for comic relief of the adults but it's good for stress release, which is half the battle!
It seems I just barely introduced myself in September and poof! here we are again. I'm Evelyn, mother of 2 adult daughters living in Vermont with my 3rd spouse, 3 cats, and younger daughter. I work part time as an Aquatic Aide in the Physical Therapy outpatient department at the hospital 1 mile away from my house. I like it a lot and will tell you more as soon as I can. I'll also post a photo if I can figure it out. I should say, "when". unless that's too much of a promise?
I'm off to see my primary care provider to check on my pesky ear (could actually be an infection that hasn't made itself known with normal brouhaha of pain). I'm sure they'll double check the bronchitis, too and verify that it's not, in fact Covid. I'll keep you posted!5 -

Good morning, WAs...
My first weigh-in:

@eggfreak - nice to meet you. I can totally relate to the "stress grab". It's largely responsible for me undoing a weight loss I had been able to maintain for about five years. I'm really trying to be mindful to interrupt that subconscious reaction to go for food and find other ways to lower stress in the moment. It will take some time to get there.
Speaking of food, Canadian Thanksgiving is this weekend, so big test. I'm not going to deprive myself, but I'm going to build in as much movement/activity (like walks) as I can to burn off the inevitable extra calories while being mindful about when I'm full. We'll see how it goes!
Enjoy the day, everyone!6 -

I can't remember my last weight but I think this is a gain. I'm really wore out lately. Just hitting some busy times especially with the kids. I haven't tracked or worked out in 2 days. I am very sore from PT. Like up at night sore. I have strict orders for no anti inflammatory meds. My hip hasn't hurt since I walked out of the PTs office on Tuesday but my back is really sore. He definitely located the issue. Doctor looked at my spinal x rays and they all look great. Just waiting for the hip x rays to come through. I'm doing my exercises 2 x a day but need to get up to 3 x soon.6 -
@jane_76
What a great first weigh-in!
Sounds like you have a good strategy for managing this weekend! Small sustainable steps and planning in advance are super helpful!1 -
@conleywoods
Sounds like a hump to get over for sure.. not good that you're so sore you can't sleep. Hopefully you can get some R&R this weekend.1 -
@eggfreak it’s interesting what foods we reach for, when I throw caution to the wind there’s always bread, butter and cheese involved
I’ve had a really good week with my mum. We’ve walked everyday. We’ve discovered new places and yesterday we went to see Lyle Lyle Crocodile, it’s a good fun film for the littles, similar to Paddington.
Today we are going to the Apple Butter Making Festival and tonight to First Friday. It’s all go in the B household 😆

The pendulum has swung back the wrong way, but I'm not surprised because I've had a bad head cold and I've been self medicating with cookies and warm raisin bread along with cold medicine. Not wise. I also skipped out on Hockey this week because I wasn't up to it so I didn't get my extra sweat on!
My plan for Thanksgiving this weekend is I don't have to overeat the one large meal to feel I'm celebrating, I can eat a small sampling of each food item and there will be lots of leftovers to enjoy on subsequent meals. that way I won't feel deprived, and I can actually extend the celebration over the week following with lots of pre-portioned mini meals that I plan to create with the leftovers.
@jane_76 I know I'm one of the luckiest people on the planet because this is my backyard view:
looking forward to watching some baseball this weekend and trying to get some movement in once this head cold clears out.12 -
Happy Friday 😊 Friends,
And I am so glad it's Friday - it's been a busy weeks.
First of all I would like to thank you all for the wonderful messages of condolence following the loss of my best friend this summer. Her memorial was last weekend and I've been a bit wobbly since, but I'm slowly finding my way back. The discussions in this community are more helpful than you will ever know.
@jane_76 I so admire you for restarting your C25K journey. I'm thinking about doing it myself - just not quite ready yet. But I certainly feel you on the pistachios temptation.
@ashleycarole86 Airport steps are the best! Everything is so far away from where you start that even if you have fallen out of love with flying (as I have) airports are certainly good for getting your steps in. Enjoy Thanksgiving.
@conleywoods So sorry to learn of your soreness - particularly as it keeps you up at night. I hope you get some relief soon.
@LoraineGB It sounds like you and your mum are having the best time. So good that she's staying for another couple of weeks.
I only managed two workouts this week, but I'm doing a full body circuit tomorrow. And now that I no longer do Saturday shifts at the café, I have free weekends once more. We have no plans this weekend so I shall potter about and maybe make some soup. And maybe I will read a magazine.
Enjoy your weekend 😘6 -
Hi everyone,
I haven't introduced myself yet. I'm Kellie, 30s, married, working as a process engineer and trying to finish my master's. I struggle regularly with depression, which makes it sometimes hard to do normal tasks like showering, so trying to eat healthy and exercise when I have no energy is tough. With the shorter days and extreme busy-ness at work my energy stores are depleted. So this week has not been good for making healthy choices. My husband has also been super frustrated at work so his mood and my mood are feeding off of each other.
As for weight loss, I've lost and gained weight probably like 5 times in my adult life. My absolute highest was 227.8 lbs in 2017. I got down to 168 before my wedding in 2018. And have been trying to get back down from 210 lbs in 2019. Although I did get down to 173 in 2021 so I'm wondering if I should adjust my start date and weight to reflect this most recent cycle 😅.
Anyways sorry for rambling! I'm hoping this time will be different8 -
Pass on weight this week please! I started that time of the month yesterday so I didn’t even weigh! Next week I would like to weigh in on Saturday as I will be out of town for work Wed-Fri…let me know if that will be ok @jugar0

No problem! I'll be away that day too, but should have time to catch all the weigh-ins.0 -

checking in! TGIF, my friends. thanks to all for the job search encouragement. it's a bummer but I am working with 2 3rd party recruiters already and they seem motivated and connected with a lot of potential opportunities. one even told me to be picky and take my time, which is exactly what I need to do.
I am hopeful that I will hear back from a potential therapist next week which is a really big step for me.
Some of you may recall that I was working towards a Nov 5 wedding and hoping to be in a lower weight range. Obviously, that did not happen but I just placed an order for some new cocktail dresses (a try-before-you-buy purchase, which is great) and hope that I like one of them. I am not the size I want to be but just gotta face the music for this event and maybe some of the photos will be new motivation to get the scale going.
@DD265 I may also purchase that book about BED, it sounds interesting and I'm sure a lot of it would resonate with me.
Winding down the workweek and trying to motivate for a workout this afternoon with weights. happy Friday, team. and happy Thanksgiving to all our Canadien members!9 -

Good evening everyone!
I almost forgot to weigh in 🤫
welsh_cariad
Friday
PW 230lbs
CW 226.7 lbs
Woop! Woop! 🎉
Have a lovely weekend everyone 😃8 -
There are lots of beautiful weigh-ins, insights, struggles (yes, they can be beautiful), and connections happening.
@Kali225 I especially want to give you some older woman perspective. You will be amazed, when you look back, how beautiful you are right now. Those photos will not look "too heavy" or anything else when you are able to look back on them. Pick a dress that feels great. Think about your love and all the people who love you. You are sure to be beautiful. Enjoy every single minute. I look at old photos of myself and find it hard to understand why I was so upset with the way I looked or felt in my body. All I see now is the occasion, the great feelings flying around the room, what we were able to do together, and all the good stuff. Sure, I was not in the ideal shape I wished I was, but it did not inflict any kind of damage on the occasion.
And, of course, we want to see photos of those dresses!! Even if they are just draped on a sofa...8 -
And the week is almost done! Saturday weigh-in heads up:
@kellie_erin
And a few more due from today and earlier -
@AshenMoon
@micki48
@bobagurl2017
Thanks!2 -

You are so right, Liselyn
I look at old photos sometimes thinking why did I think I was fat? Why was I not happy with myself then? I wish I was that "fat" now
Yesterday was my 19th anniversary being with my husband and 16th wedding anniversary.
He stood by me through thick and thin - excuse the pun
So here I am trying to look and feel better about myself and NOT to be on weightloss journey lol
Happy Saturday everyone!
