Hi everyone! Missed you all. Sorry to be MIA. Life gets crazy busy then crazy tired. Ashley sorry to hear your job is stressing you out. Liselyn have a great trip and performance. You know we need a photo of that new stylish dress.
I have some pages to read still. Just read the last two pages. I need to find that WA challenge someone mentioned.
I haven't really been any better with the motivation. My logging is almost non-existent. Not trilled that you can't scan items anymore without paying for premium on MFP. Food is ok. Steps are good and over goal but no specific exercise, just busy in school. I am literally on my feet for 7 hours straight. I am trying to figure out the best shoes to wear because some days, my feet are screaming.
I really need to catch up with posts to see how everyone is doing. I need some goals. I would really like to be down to the next number on my weigh in on Friday. We'll see how that plays out.
I will check in again tomorrow and read some more.6 -
@jugar hope you have an uneventful flight and a great time in France. Your dress sounds lovely and I hope you have your grandmothers dress in a special place 💕 Question: Do you speak any French?
@Kali225 Eating healthy with guests around is so hard. I hope you can have some good week days in between.
@eggfreak Those vegetables look good and I bet the soup was even better 😋
@ashleycarole86 I bought a bag of Halloween candy at the beginning of the month for my husband's birthday instead of a cake. It was a little shocking how quickly we demolished the whole bag! I haven't bought any more yet. I still need to decorate the house for Halloween. I have a special candy bowl and the kids can hardly stand to see it empty. We still need to get the kids costumes and we will trick or treat. We carved pumpkins but the deer came up on the deck and ate their faces😡
I have been doing alright this week. I am hitting macros but taking a break from work outs. I'm pretty tired and a little stressed so I need the extra sleep. I have jury duty for the next 2 weeks so I am trying to get as much done ahead of time as I can. Hopefully they won't use me. I'll tell them I'm very judgmental! My mom works for the state prison so maybe they won't use me! I have a massage scheduled this weekend and I can't wait. I think it's the thing getting me through the week.5 -
@conleywoods Oh my - jury duty! Sort of intrigued but I hope for your sake you don't have that to deal with. You're right that I may need to think about options for work. I think given the change is still so new and that I've been with this company for so long and knowing my personality that I'm going to have to give it a bit more time before I know. It's a big learning curve and it's uncomfortable and for now it just feels terrible, but I will either rise to the occasion or sink.. I don't know which it will be yet. My boss is supportive and understanding, but we're all in the same boat. I have a lot of feelings around the topic and I tend to just spin and ruminate - not fun for anyone that has to listen to me (including you lovely folks!) I think I may likely need to seek some counselling on this issue (not just work - but some of the items I know are holding me back that I can't seem to resolve.)
@micki48 I've heard a few people say the barcode shut down for them.. interestingly I don't have premium and I used it just this evening. Makes me think I'm in some glitch and it's only a matter of time as I do recall that was changing but I seem to be unchanged (for now!)
@jugar You're probably high in the skies right now! Safe travels to France. What exciting times. Nerves are always a staple for me for travel and this is a big trip for you. So many awesome memories to be made. Can't wait to hear all about your adventures.
@eggfreak That veggie picture looks insanely delicious. I have been craving lots of fresh fruit and veg the last few days and that is just a feast for the eyes!
@PlaneMonkey Speaking of candy monster husbands, I had a lovely husband place a delicious Reese Big Cup in front of me tonight. I had calories left and indulged, but he's definitely the sweet tooth influence in the house! We haven't actually bought Halloween candy yet. I will say that I still have Easter candy so I sort of have hope I can keep it around.. we haven't given out candy in a while but I think we'll be around this year to do so. We live in a kid filled neighborhood so I bet we'll overbuy!
Great losses @lauren_989 and @KellyBgetsfit3 -
@ashleycarole86 I'm sorry work is so tough. You are doing amazing things despite that, and fantastic results on the sleep apnea retest.
Have a fantastic journey and concert @jugar!
We don't do anything for Halloween at all - have even stopped buying sweets as nobody comes round. I might be on the road and staying in a hotel, as 1/2 November I am tentatively booked to visit a customer.
I stumbled across an app called 'Catch It' which is a university-designed mood diary. You put in whatever the 'mood' is, the strength of it, then you add a little more detail, review it, and change it. Basically CBT based. I know it's available on both Apple and Android, not sure if it's limited to the UK.
I have completed a week at step 1 in the BED program, which is basically information gathering. Step 2 is practising planned regular eating; 3 meals, and 2-3 snacks a day. The theory is people are less likely to binge if they know when they will next eat, and the gaps between food is not too large. My challenge will be planning the snacks, as currently I grab 'whatever'. I am happy to make things repetitive if it makes my life easier.5 -
@ashleycarole86 @micki48 , I was hopeful that maybe MFP had lost so many people due to barcode scan that they'd reinstated with the free version but no, although the option is right there, when clicked on, I'm invited to join for $20/month. No thank you.2

@ashleycarole86 @micki48 @eggfreak I think the removal of the barcode scanning might be geographically linked. I let my premium expire and I'm still able to use the barcode scanner. So US customers seem to be blocked but Canadians still have full access. How about people in the UK? any non-premium members able to weigh in? 😉
Also, when did the price for premium get so high? I signed up 2 years ago for $60 annually and now it's more than double?!? The only ads I see in the app are ads to get me to go premium... But since I haven't lost functionality (let's be honest, I haven't tracked a full day of eating in months) I don't see the need. If they change the features I have access to like the US customers then I'd consider it... Maybe. But probably not. That price tag would be more appreciated being put towards kettlebells or new skates.4 -

@jugar I would like to be a Thursday person now. I know you are busy traveling so I will remind you next week too.4 -
Probably too late. Forgot to add my Saturday steps!

It's been a super rough week! I ended a long distance relationship in April. Not due to our feelings diminishing. But we both knew that neither of us were going to move. He and I talked/messaged all the time, but stopped after the break up. He let me know recently that he met someone and it's getting serious... that he can't stay in touch. I feel like my heart is getting broken all over again!

@bobagurl2017 So sorry to hear it didn't work out. Even harder to still have feelings and to get that message 😢 That is really tough to hear. Hugs to you and take care of yourself. Broken hearts are the worst💔3
-
@jugar I know you're traveling but if I can be excused from this week's weigh-in, I'd really appreciate it. TOM has snuck up on me 😩2

@bobagurl2017 I feel for you. So hard. Thank you for sharing.0

Good morning WaistAways!

Trend weight in MacroFactor is 178.7, and now MF thinks I'm maintaining instead of gaining, so I will take that.
Up a bit from last week, I've been a bit off the rails.
My birthday is next week, week after is Halloween, the week and a half after that is my kid's birthday, then two weeks after that, thanksgiving, then two weeks after that, Whatsisface's birthday, then a week and a half after that, Christmas and New Years. There is a reason why this part of the year is hard- it's that.
Top that off, my dad's in the hospital, so yesterday and the day before that were very stressful, it's TOM time, and just... lots of things at once, you know?
Today is pizza and beer, but I think I'm going to make myself a modified-for-lower-calories pizza to try to fit things in better. I went to the gym yesterday, but ate a little too much. Today will be One Perfect Day. I'm keeping the beer but taking care of myself food-wise, and I'm going to finally get some decent sleep tonight.
Have a great day, everyone!5 -

I'm sorry @bobagurl2017, even if we know it's the way things have to be, the heartache isn't any less.1

Hello, WAs... what a week.
@jugar - sounds like you have some super exciting days on the horizon! Safe travels and can't wait to hear about the fun you are sure to have. Q: I'm not sure what, if any, options exist for me this second week of weighing in, but it's been a disaster of a week, so before I share my numbers, curious to know if there is a way to have a pass on this week? Disappointed that I'm having to ask this week 2.
I thought I was so ready to tackle Thanksgiving in a healthy way, but boy, did I ever underestimate the emotional punch of our first Thanksgiving without my mom... plus it was my parents' first anniversary since her passing on the same day. A double whammy.
Good news: I successfully carried on my mom's legacy of cooking a large, delicious Thanksgiving meal. Bad news: See good news.
I went for one run/walk on Tuesday, but as my "off the rails" emotional eating continued on early into the week with leftovers, I felt increasingly - um - ashamed. Undoing all my good work the week before, and I decided the smart move would be to disengage from this chat until I got back on track. In reading everyone's posts and seeing just how incredibly supportive this team is, I'm kicking myself. I should have just jumped on here and shared that I was struggling. Hindsight is 20/20. I'll know better moving forward.
@YinxFed - When you're ready to give C25K a go, let me know. Happy to cheer each other on! I'm starting slow with my knee, but it's so good to get out there... when I do.
@kellie_erin - Welcome! Like you, my emotional struggles have made consistency in both eating and exercising a challenge for me. I am trying to flip the switch on how I deal with feeling overwhelmed and/or sad and the inevitable fatigue that comes with it - instead of reaching for my go-to foods to "feel better", I'm trying to retrain my brain to turn to exercise for the rush of endorphins. It's going to be a journey for me to unlearn old ways. I appreciate you being so candid about your own struggles.
@PlaneMonkey - What a gorgeous view! How lucky to live right in the heart of nature. That's my dream someday - nature on my doorstep but with the city around the corner. I read through your posts this past week, and wow, do your challenges with evening exercise ever resonate with me. I prefer to do my run/walks and other workouts (yay, Caroline Girvan - love her) in the evening, but fatigue sometimes messes with that game plan. As much as the days getting shorter is tough, it means that I can get out and get my run/walk in earlier - like a vampire, I like to head out when it's dark. Lol.
@Kali225 - Echoing others, I look back on some pictures of me when I didn't think I was where I should (or wanted to) be weight-wise, and realize that I missed out on the fun of the occasion because of feeling self-conscious... but I looked great. I think that's a bigger part of this journey - loving where we're at. Beating ourselves up just doesn't work. Also, I used to do career coaching, and my hot tip for you at this juncture is to jot down all of your strengths/skills (no modesty!), circle the ones you love to tap into and feel energized by, and use that as your compass for future job searches. Hopefully you see this time as an exciting opportunity to be intentional about where your career takes you next!
@eggfreak - Your chocolate ice cream strategizing really resonated with me. Similar challenges over here! My dad likes a lot of food that I shouldn't have around, but I'm testing different ways to strengthen my resolve and ensure that I'm not tempted. I'm getting there, but it's tough.
@ashleycarole86 - I can totally relate to work-related stress creeping into every minute of every day. It's tough to let go of it outside of working hours, but it's usually fed by a sense of not having control with what's going on at work, so it could help to do some job research - even if you're not at that point now - to see the opportunities that exist right now. You never know what you might come across that gets you excited - a different job, a training opportunity, an organization that wasn't on your radar. Just an idea that helped me during a difficult time. Take care!
To all WAs - given that this is already a monster post (sorry) to make up for lost time, a big thanks again for this community. Reading everyone's candid sharing of challenges and successes has really helped me after a tough, tough week... and reminded me that going AWOL solves nothing except for robbing me of accountability *and* support.
Hoping everyone has a wonderful Friday!6
