Greetings Friends!
So I have started the virtual Yosemite Nature Park.
Just 5% complete, but I'm happy that I am actually off the starter's blocks!
4 -
I hope this looks better?
8 -
I'm not normally a fan of coloured Christmas lights, but these are quite pretty 😍
What do you think?
7 -
@YinxFed Nice lights! I especially like the way they reflect on the cars. And the Yosemite hike is off to a great start
such a quiet rainy day here - it started off with very high winds, but now it is much quieter and a bit gloomy. I survived my long dental appointment this morning, mainly by doing my most challenging battery of breathing exercises. By the time they finished, I was breathing SO slowly nothing could have bothered me. Gotta get ready for that 32" note! It's coming along. But it's also workout day, and I guarantee I won't be breathing slowly for that. Enjoy the rest of hump day, you working folks!

thanks!1 -
@lauren_989
It's not quite either of those two but I love Yoga by Adriene.
Lots of people like Caroline Girvan's Epic too.
Some of my other groups speak of doing Fitness Marshall dance videos.. you can string as many together as you want. I've never tried.
Nice @YinxFed .. both the lights and the walking.
It's COLD here. My goodness. I had a low step day yesterday because I missed my lunch break but I was back on my 10K track today.
@KellyBgetsfit Sounds like the right goal for a December. Being realistic but challenging is the right approach I think.
Off for a good night of sleep. Back for weigh-in in the morning!5 -

I was doing so good and my weight was down...then my 90 year old grandma broke her hip. I only ate 2 meals yesterday but they were very comforting and salty. My grandma had surgery yesterday but her surgery was originally scheduled for the surgical suite my sister works in so she had to get rescheduled for a different team later in the day. It went well and she is pretty motivated to get back home to her kitties.
We are getting lots of snow and we are on our 2nd day of snow closure for school. It isn't too bad but I don't think they have the snow plow staff to get things cleared in timely manner. Our dirt road hasn't been touched yet.
@YinxFed Love the lights and great job on the walk!
@jugar glad you made it through the dentist. My boys were supposed to go yesterday but we canceled due to snow. They were crushed! They love the dentist LOL!3 -

I'm so behind on posts and it's been a busy week or so. Ate too much for a few days but got back on track - I don't think this is a loss BUT I guess I'll settle for and be happy that for this month at least I stayed below a threshold consistently....now for December and January to get down to the next threshold. Must check in here more regularly to make that happen! your voices...in my head...4 -
It's another snow day here! I was out snowshoeing with my dog Jasper. When he got tired of breaking trail he would get behind me and try to stand on my snowshoes. Definitely checked off exercise for the day. I'm one protein shake away from a perfect day. Happy to see today come together. Had fun with the kids today sledding. My daughter helped me do a guinea pig christmas photo shoot today that turned out really cute. I'll share some pics closer to christmas! Tomorrow is my day off. My youngest has his school christmas concert in the afternoon. My mother in law and I will be going to that and doing some shopping as well.9 -

Wishing your grandma a speedy recovery
Snowshoeing - an activity after @jugar 's heart!!
We had a potluck at work today. I did one plate and completely skipped the dessert. Very proud of that.
Pizza was planned tonight for the football game but I overconsumed and it's been a sedentary night. Putting myself against an uphill battle for the week ahead.6 -
My victory today was logging my food. Love reading everyone’s posts and catching up.
Got all my steps in chasing an escaped Gingerbread Boy around our school. 😂 Tomorrow we decorate a tree 🌲 and sing holiday songs with the retirement community that shares our school’s property. Word is a big man in a red suit 🎅🏽 may show up.
Hope tomorrow shows some loss for my weigh in. Love all the photos friends. ❤️5 -
Wow! That looks like a lot of snow @conleywoods how much did you get?
Thank you @ashleycarole86 for the youtube recommendations.
Well, today wasn't a perfect day, but I feel like each day has gotten better. I also tracked yesterday and today! I was doing really well tracking, even if I didn't eat so well, and I need to get back into that habit.
We just booked a cruise for next September, our 5 year anniversary! 😊 I am really excited and I hope to lose a bunch of weight before then. I know I have tried to lose weight before vacations in the past...but didn't succeed. Maybe this time will be different?6 -
Today has flown by! I'm seriously jealous of your snow @conleywoods We had snow today, but not enough to get too excited about. Hmmph.
But tomorrow is the big Friday lineup! Are you all ready?

Headed the wrong direction, but I'm Really Going Through It, y'all.
The baby is sick, so I'm up several times a night, and this morning she refused to go back to sleep at ..2:30.
Yesterday I was so hungry I was snappish at everyone and my stomach felt like it was eating itself, so I had more pasta than I'd planned for (not by much) and a few more mallow pumpkins than I logged (off to log them now). I didn't go over my maintenance calories, but, ya know.
TOM is also coming, so I'm extra emotional about all of it, and SAD is also kicking my butt.
All that to say, I'm logging my food for today, changing my food strategy so that hopefully today goes better hunger-wise, and I'm skipping out on the "pizza" part of our pizza and beer tradition tonight in favor of a lower-calorie pizza wrap I make myself.
Have a great day, everyone!7 -

From Friday through Sunday, I only went for walks because my left rhomboid muscle felt tight and I did not want to risk injury.
Monday: Because I wanted to take it easy in case my muscle was still too tight, I did a short yoga video from Yoga with Adrienne. I also took my dog on a long walk in the morning.
Tuesday: My rhomboid muscle felt tight so I took it easy and just went for longer walks that morning and evening.
Wednesday: I had signed up for a spin class but cancelled because of work. I ended up working 12 hours straight, so because I work from home, that was basically right up until I went back to bed to sleep. I did take my dog for an hour walk in the morning, and did a morning yoga routine, which mentally, I needed to get through the day.
Thursday: Finally made it back to the group fitness class this week after being sick and work being crazy. It was a tough 45 minute EMOM strength class but the trainer reminded me to go easy on myself for coming back and I’m so glad I did. I truly love this studio and need to go more. I also had to work more, but I didn’t want a repeat of Wednesday, so I left my work to go to the class, and then came back and worked for a few more hours for another 12 hour work day.
All in all, not the best week for consistent work outs. I am traveling for work next week, and next weekend I have a wedding to attend, so I will be putting together a workout plan, and a plan to be mindful of eating while traveling for work.4 -
Wow @wishfuljune you have had a busy week. I do hope you take care of yourself until your muscle pain is quite eradicated.
@conleywoods Jaspar is such a handsome dog. We're in the market for a new puppy to join our micro family in Q1 2023.
The last 2 weeks have been rather manic for me, so I am so glad that things are beginning to slow down for Christmas. I'm really looking forward to the break and getting the house Christmas-ready.
My daily weigh-ins are shaping up for another gain on Sunday 😪, unless something amazing happens. This despite my good behaviour with food and workouts. I think that I might be growing some muscles.
Whatever happens, I'll deal with it.
Enjoy your day, friends+6 -
I need to go out, but just read this in my binge-eating book and thought it might resonate:It is particularly important to distinguish a "lapse" from a "relapse". A lapse is a setback or slip, whereas a relapse is returning to square one. The two words have different connotations. Implicit in the notion of a lapse is the idea that there can be degress of deterioration. On the other hand, the notion of a relapse suggests that one is either well [in the context of BED, not bingeing] or right back to square one.
...
To minimise the chances of relapsing, it is essential not to mislabel any lapse (or setback) as a relapse because doing so is likely to affect your behaviour. If you think you are having a lapse, you are likely to take active steps to get back on track, whereas if you regard yourself as having relapsed, you may well give up and as a result matters will get worse.5 -
Time to check out my journal for 2023. I really shouldn't be this excited!

We are in the same boat! I hate the way little voice says "oh no!" about the gain and the other side is happy to have grown more muscle. Let's stick with the happy side!4 -

Sticking in my maintenance range with a tiny loss from last week. Our household has been sick all week so there's been a lot of sitting around on the couch but I also neglected to do much shopping so there haven't been any bad snacks in the house to overindulge in. I bought one bag of chocolates to go in the christmas themed dishes around the house and hubby has been clearing those out steadily so they will be gone soon and temptation will go with it.
That's a LOT of snow @conleywoods, wow! you're looking great.
Congrats on all those new muscles @YinxFed and @jugar. I've seen lots of instagram posts from people showing themselves at different weights and body compositions due to dieting vs weight training and the benefits of the weight training is eye-opening. It's true you can't "outrun your fork" but at a certain point, that added muscle definition and strength really contributes to overall health. Good job!
We purchased an indoor air tester off amazon after a friend mentioned they have issues with Radon gas seeping into their home and it has been pretty disconcerting so far. We've had it running for less than a day and it takes 7 days to fully calibrate, but we're already reading at 5 times the recommended healthy limit for radon gas exposure in the basement home office where my husband spends 40 hours a week.... Check out radonmap.com and see if where you live is an area to be concerned about! I'm just learning about this but radon gas is a leading contributor to lung cancer when you are exposed to it long term. It can be mitigated with ventilation, so it can be fixed. So here I was thinking the home reno's were coming to a conclusion and we've just discovered a whole new problem will need to be added to the list! looks like more walls and cement are in my future. I'll be working those shoulder muscles all winter long.6 -

This is a two week weigh in as I had a pass last week. Pre Vegas I was 219.5 so I am happy I am less than before I left.

@LoraineGB You rock! What a great weigh-in, particularly after a trip to Vegas. Maybe you gambled but lost???
I'm just about to go set up the new month's chat threads, so get ready to post your (re)introductions, goals for the month, and all that jazz. I know December is not a great one for big progress on weight loss, but that does not mean we cannot plan to make it work as well as possible. Let's try not to finish the month feeling like a bunch of chumps. I was just looking at the raccoons outside while talking on the phone with my daughter, and all I can say is -- we can do better. They are seriously chunky. Of course, they are going to be going hungry for a few months, so maybe they can get away with it better than we can!
I have a photo in front of me on my little work area. My great-grandparents and my grandmother as a very young child. They all have the most awesome frowns. They are helping me get things done right now!6 -

I’m so sorry guys… I know it wasn’t a great week, but I wasn’t expecting it to be this bad…. This morning was per upset about this number….I know weight fluctuates, but it really made me feel like a failure.
To top it off my mom calls me and starts talking to me about my weight and how she can help me with cooking or something. She then goes on to tell me that family has asked if Im depressed after the baby and is that why Ive gained so much…. What was that for?… made me that much more depressed about the gain…
(Meanwhile I had just finished a 30 minute peloton ride and was feeling proud)
I sit here currently on the couch feeling so down about myself…truly feeling like a failure. My whole life, weight has been the only thing I haven’t been able to conquer. Im not always in a huge calorie deficit, but I don’t feel like I eat as much as my body gains. My thyroid is normal thankfully, but clearly my metabolism is slow and I need to just accept it. I need to accept that I need to lower my calories a lot more and make much healthier choices to see changes.
Sorry for the venting guys…
7 -
@CupcakeCrusoe how do you make your low calories pizza wrap? That sounds tasty!
@DianaGetsFit512 that's part of what we are here for....venting! Sometimes people don't realize that they are hurting us when they talk about our weight but they think they are helping. Great job doing the peloton ride!
My day started off great, then crashed and burned. I got ate my normal breakfast and lunch. Then dinner-- I had a super yummy mixed drink and a crumbl cookie.5 -
@DianaGetsFit512 this exactly the space to vent. I feel offended on your behalf that your moment of pride over your exercise was taken from you by hurtful-under the guise of helpful-comments. Every person's metabolism is different. You are making positive changes in your life and we are here to support you. Your journey is your own and judgment from family can cut so deeply. Shake it off like the champ you are and don't let it get you down. You have the tools to conquer the weight, just stick to the plan and keep the voices of the team in your head cheering you on when you make good choices and helping you back up each time you stumble.5
