It's tiny but it's green! It's early and I'm in my workout room. Doing light weights and stretching. Not trying to break a sweat or anything. Just getting back to my routine. Food is improving and I'm getting my normal appetite back which helps. Maybe a really workout this weekend 🤔10 -
It's been a week. I'm here. Went to dr. It was a waste of co-pay. She just nodded and said uh huh. My blood pressure was through the roof because in the middle of getting in my room and having the pressure done, my son texted me that he thinks he actually had a heart attack. He has been having pain and fluttering. His ekg was off. The cardiologist didn't say anything conclusive except to say something is not right. He is only 31. The dr. said Myocarditis from the vaccine. : He also just had covid when we did, so maybe it was ACTUAL covid and not the vaccine that caused it. Anyway, I could feel my body reacting to the scary prospect. 148/106!!!!! Not surprised. I felt every digit of that reading. It was down closer to normal at home last night. It was quite a day. He can't have the other tests until mid to late December. I told him, it must not be that bad or they would have those tests done STAT.
We had our little PreK Thanksgiving Feast today. I feel like it should be Friday.
My whole family's health needs work. All of us.
Congratulations @KellyBgetsfit . Must feel great to be back in the 140s. Nice losses everyone.
@conleywoods So glad to hear you are feeling better. And yay @jugar, you got your snow. Take care everyone.
Well, need to go take care of these kiddos.8 -
@micki48 Ugh. Docs who just nod and say uh huh are either burned out or should be doing something else. It certainly is of no use to go see them. But your poor son! And you - when our children have scary things happen, it is so hard. Tomorrow IS Friday. I hope you can spend time during the weekend resting, connecting, commiserating, planning - but mostly being there for each other, as I know you will be. Blood pressure will come down (and it was not all that bad - really), but you are right that you all need to put health first. Many hugs flying your way
@conleywoods your tiny green, your first steps back to your workouts - beautiful! You - beautiful!
I had a fantastic, but small, NSV yesterday. I got up from my exercise mat without using knees or hands. Just crossed one ankle over the other and stood up. I have not been able to do that for a while! Going down, I could sort of inelegantly do, but now that is smoother too. I am more convinced that getting back to more intense strength building workouts is a good thing. I love doing Pilates and general outdoor moving abut, and it is certainly effective, but just a couple of weeks of strength building has made a difference. I can't say I enjoy the workouts as much, though... Ugh! They are hard! Trainers are too good at figuring out where the weaknesses are, eh?
I hope everyone is getting through to Friday all in one piece. Hang in there!7 -
Thank you @jugar and @DD265 for the kind words! Today was so much better! I pre-planned what I was eating for the day, got my work out in and rescheduled and had the meeting at lunch today. She was super nice about it and that just lifted a weight off my shoulder!
@micki48 I hope your son feels better soon! Myocarditis is more common in young men with covid than any other age group. It must not be too severe if they are waiting for the test until December. Still scary though!

Hope your son gets better soon .. that stinks! Please do not forget to focus on yourself also just like on planes remember “please put on your oxygen mask before your child’s”
@jugar
That is an awesome accomplishment.. don’t think I’ve ever been able to get up without my knees!
I had a pretty crummy day today as I had a migraine with aura which I haven’t had in months! It happened around coworkers which was that much worse because all day they were concerned about how I was feeling. I know I brought it on myself by going to bed late… and yet here I am again at 12:07AM when I should be sleeping! I’ve just always been a night owl, but I need to remind myself that my health comes first.
Hoping tomorrow the scale treats me nicely6 -

Sorry for the increase, everyone! This week has had some wild weigh-ins, much higher than this, so I'll take it. I think part of it is ovulation, part is back-to-back hours-of-gym days in the beginning of the week, and part of it is just me eating a little higher calorie (still under maintenance) this week.
It's Friday, last night was busy, we had an emergency at work while I was on the way to the gym and at the gym, so ugh, but after today, it's almost Thanksgiving week, which will mean a three-day workweek and a four day weekend at the end of it, complete with a bar crawl of sorts.
I'm declaring thread bankrupcy until this page, so sorry everyone:
@eggfreak good solid loss!
@conleywoods I feel like working out is about 70% getting in the mindset to start, and the other 30% is doing it and finishing. So big progress!
@micki48 that is terrifying, I'm so sorry to hear that. My kid has a lot of medical issues, and I know how scary that stuff is. I'm glad to hear your blood pressure goes back down at home, those are some big numbers.
@jugar I don't think I could stand as you described (not yet, anyway)
@lauren_989 it's always great when something you worried about works out so easily.
@DianaGetsFit512 welcome to morning! Or evening, depending on when you log in! I hope you had a good day with no migraines, I'm manifesting that for you!
Have a great day, everyone!6 -
I am a bit guilty of 'eating to the weigh in' - you know, like 'teaching to the test'. A couple days before Thursday I get my act together. I am going to stop that. If I want to make real progress, it needs to be a daily consciousness. I did enjoy an indian meal last night and I will still allow some pleasure foods/meals in the week but be a bit more moderate with it all.3

I have popped above the top of my maintenance range due to general laziness with portion control, eating salty takeout for dinner, and hockey being cancelled last night.
I keep 'winging it' but if the number doesn't creep back into range by next week it's back to tracking and intentional exercise. (the shovelling still hasn't begun in earnest but the lake has a thin layer of ice at the shoreline... Excitement is building!) The beavers also came in this week and cleared out the pesky maple bush that was blocking a skating area for us, so Thank you Beavers!4 -

This was shocking, but no complaining. I just never drop this much. My mind automatically tries to explain it “ oh i must have been falsely higher last week.. oh it’s because i didn’t workout yesterday” I really just need to enjoy and accept it :-) maybe I actually made good choices this week!9 -
Happy Friday!
I'm back on the regular team - did not manage to get back into maintenance range for the past 2 weeks. All of us maintainers are struggling right now We don't have far to go, but we have to get the portions and choices back on track. I know I'm partially blaming my new muscles (hah!) now that I'm on a strength building program, but really, I'm sitting more and eating more. Time to bring some green back into the picture.
@DianaGetsFit512 Thanks for your green! The team needed that It looks like we might be giving another team a chance to win this week, but we'll see. Week 3 is almost always the worst one every month. And week 4 if there are 5 like this month, not to mention a major feasting holiday in the US! Hang on and plan!
@eggfreak "teaching to the test" how apt! I'm always on my best behaviour on Thursdays before my Friday weigh-in, and I get more serious starting around Tuesday. That is a great way to call ourselves on it - the test is not the goal here!
OK, weekend. We're on the way.5 -
Speaking of maintainers struggling, yesterday wasn't a fine day for me.
I was frustrated with my weigh-in - the week had so much good but I let myself get hooked by the number. Then, I had another tough day at work, and by dinner time it seemed that eating was going to solve it.
I went out, ate, didn't track, and ate to excess. And not surprisingly, I was back in the 170s today
I've been having middle of the night insomnia where I fall asleep fine but wake up around 1-2 and can't get back to sleep for hours as I just start worrying.
Anyway, I'm off today to spend a bit of time with my Mom. Her birthday is tomorrow so we have some things planned for her today and tomorrow. Started my morning with a 20 minute walk.
Have a good weekend all.
@micki48 Sorry to hear your son is going through that (and you by proxy as a worried mom). Hoping it all works out okay. Thinking of you.5 -
@ashleycarole86 I am familiar with not being able to turn my mind off in the middle of the night, worrying about how I was going to get all of tomorrow's work done, planning things out in my head - well you know what I mean. The only thing that worked for me was to turn my attention to my breathing - mouth slightly open, tongue touching roof of mouth, breathe in through nose, breathe out through mouth, repeating and before you know it you have fallen back asleep. Remember - focus on your breathing.6

I’m not surprised given my three day work trip in the middle of the week and I’m hopeful it’s just sodium bloat. I did manage to get a workout in on Wednesday, but still slightly under the weather (this cough just won’t quit!) which makes it harder to push myself for a good workout.
I’m planning my workouts already for next week, and I am committing to 60 minutes every day of intentional workouts and really focusing on my eating.
My husband has been making these more lavish meals, and we have leftover pie still from a Friendsgiving, so I need to be the one to meal prep this week for both of us.6 -
A shower of hugs for all - it sounds like it has been a rough week for many of us. All we can do is start to build the next week. Breathe and re-schedule.
I missed my workout today and will not do it now - tomorrow morning before 10 it must be done, and you can all hold me to that! I ended up on many phone calls, had to watch a meeting with the immigration minister to see if he answered questions about some people a group of us are trying to help, and then was on the phone with them all again. I'm glad to be working on this - it is for a group of people from Afghanistan who worked as interpreters for the Canadian military and government who are now stuck in Pakistan mired in red tape and with no decent accommodations. The situation is urgent and it seems impossible to get any news about what is going on. In any case, it was an afternoon well spent, but frustrating and not very calorie-burning!5 -
