HOW IT ALL WORKS: The December challenge runs from December 3 - 31. F2F months always start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday, so adjust your calendars!

Every challenger weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat thread. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard.

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you take a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or are moved to the Support Team for longer. You can remain on the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone! You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team!

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month and year begin!!

    Welcome to the December challenge!

My name is Linda and I am your team captain along with the amazing @Megan_smartiepants1970. We also have a great motivator @fatfifties. I live in London, Ontario with my husband Garry. I have 3 adult children and 4 beautiful granddaughters. Two of my granddaughters live in Scotland and I will get over there eventually. I also have two very fat cats, Nick and Lady.

I started my journey in February of 2019 and have been with the group since then. It hasn’t been an easy journey as I have binge eating disorder, back issues and neuropathy. The pain has limited my exercise to the pool. I am working with a pain management specialist so I have hope. The binge eating disorder rears it’s ugly head especially if I am stressed or having sleep issues causing weight gain which I then have to lose again. It’s a cycle I need to break. I will not give up! My biggest NSV to date is no longer having to use insulin for my diabetes. My A1Cs are now in the non diabetic range.

    December goals

    Exercise 3 to 4 days a week
    Sleep 6.5 minimum
    Log food daily

    Welcome to all our new members @lartishs, @SkipperScott50, @JarheadSFMF, @Maesneuadd, @Bigjuicy2point0 and @MSWarrior7088

I'm Lis, 59, from the UK but been living in Spain for 20 years. Retired, I spend most of the year travelling in my rv, its my happy place and where weight loss is the easiest!

Since August 2021, I've lost 90lb. Reached my initial goal of 196 in October, then my second goal of 189 in November. Now aiming for 182 by the end of January .... heading home and out of my rv to face the challenges of socialising with friends and Christmas so not being too optimistic with the weight loss for the next 2 months!

This group is a great source of support! Anything you need or want to know just ask x

    MFP monthly intoduction

    1. Tell us a little about yourself? Where are you from? What are some of your hobbies? Etc.... Hi my name is Dee, im a wound care specialist nurse from South East England. Im married with 2 daughters 21 and 17.

    2. Why are you on this journey? What pushed you to start? - health issues, high cholesterol and joint pain because of weight, and clothes not fitting well.

    4. What are your triggers and how can you avoid them? - im easily led, sometimes let others poor food choices influence mine, or accept food bought for me by others that i didnt ask for, but i have a really good excuse now though to say no to eating rubbish because of the high cholesterol.

    5. Do you have a favourite diet you go by? I should have a low cholesterol diet but ive let it slip a bit recently, found it very restrictive. Im having everything in moderation and counting the calories

    5. What is your favourite way to workout? - I like walking with my headphones on listening to upbeat music, i do pilates to help with ongoing back pain (slipped a disc 2 years back)

    6. What are some of your goals this month? Year?- to maintain my current weight. MFP helped me loose 17-18 pounds so im just trying to keep the weight off but its an ongoing battle

    7. What do you expect to gain from the team? Do you have any suggestions? Being in the team keeps me motivated and focused.

    8. Share some words of wisdom with your teammates.- Good luck to you all, hang in there, keep logging your food diary every day it really does help you keep track. Weigh your food so its accurate. Do an exersise you enjoy because it will be easier for you to stick to it.
