I'm so excited!! The whole reason behind me trying to lose weight, eat healthier and exercise was because when I had my physical 4 months ago, my cholesterol was high and I knew I didn't want to take meds for it if I didn't have to. So I had more lab work done earlier this week and all of my levels (except my HDL which was still just a tiny bit lower than it should) were all back to normal levels!!
Sept 2022: Jan 2023:
Cholesterol - 269/ 175
HDL - 49/ 59
LDL - 187/ 95
Chol/HDL Ratio - 5.5/ 3.0
Triglycerides - 163/ 102
Glucose - 114/ 97
All with NO MEDICATION!! Super excited!!9 -
@alydanbeads
Congrats.. not sure there's a much better feeling than seeing your health markers improve as a result of changes to diet and exercise.
You took the bull by the horns!! Way to go4 -
Hope everyone had a swell Friday. We are down to one week left of work before Brad and I take an epic three week vacation to Costa Rica. Brad turns 50 in February so we decided a special celebration was in order. Work is crazy and the house needs tidying up as my brother is coming to stay here while we're gone, so there will be lots to do between now and our red eye departure on the 28th.
Tonight, Brad and I are going to the movies, and tomorrow we are taking my Mom out to dinner and a comedy show she wanted to see (Christmas present!) Sunday we have the Bills playoff game. I'm on call for work too, so it's going to be a whirlwind! Lots of fun to be had - off to it!4 -
@alydanbeads that is fabulous news! You have the power to change your health. Keep up the fabulous work!
@DD265 Wrists - one of my favourite subjects. Musicians are seriously obsessed with that one... I have a 5 minute series I do just about every day, and it works really well. You can download it on https://gmb.io/wrists/ I have varied it somewhat, but it is a good place to start. Don't push it! But do it every day and gradually, the strength/flexibility combo will work its magic.
@ashleycarole86 your vacation sounds amazing, and what a way to celebrate Brad's 50th! When my taller half turned 50 I wrote him the "It's Your Fiftieth Birthday Blues" because I couldn't afford anything much! Our kids were young, and I just wrote a song about all the things I wished I could afford to get him. The chorus was "But love ain't money - and Visa thinks I'm funny. Oh babe, I've got the it's your 50th birthday blues". We at least had a great laugh!
Snowshoeing was fabulous today. New snow! More on the way! Finally winter is getting good. Hope you're all having a good start to the weekend7 -

I guess it wasn't a fluke because that is what is was yesterday.
I averaged 1467 calories
My macros were 40/28/32
26 grams of fiber
I was under for sugar and sodium. I cooked everything and feel those numbers are accurate.
I don't understand what I am doing wrong.
Try not to be hard on yourself, friend. You arent doing anything "wrong". Weight loss is not a linear line down. Nature doesn't work like that. I'd give it 2 - 3 more days before making any changes. The scale being up for a couple of days happens and you have to just stay the course.
I'm in the same boat. I'm up a pound over last week as of this morning and weigh-in tomorrow. I don't like seeing that - at all! If that number sticks into say Tuesday I'll re-evaluate.5 -

Holy cow. The ultimate points challenge. I did not think Jessica would pick that one, because it is lots of numbers and she hates that! Numbers freaks should join in! It is good reinforcement of goals and daily stuff.
I have still been dragging on workouts since having covid, and today for the first time I think it is really for no reason other than inertia. Tomorrow I have a big day (a rehearsal with a new group, and a vernissage of a project that will now be exhibited until mid-April), but Monday will be snowshoe and workout time. And then carry on from there, even though I'm heading down to visit my dad soon. I'll try!
Speaking of numbers, be sure to get them in to wrap up this week, ok?

Friday weigh in (late)
PW 211.5

I’ll go with the normal Friday weigh in weight. Still a loss, yet makes it a bit easier to have a loss next week. I think that is three in a row greens for me. That’s a small miracle!!
Today, I went a little overboard with our Eagles 🦅 playoff game dinner and snacks but done now. Happy they are winning too.
Took a nice chilly walk with my OH. It was pretty.
Thanks @DianaGetsFit512 for your explanation. That was interesting—no falling
asleep here. The point about the vitreous was interesting. I kind of see a bit of jelly on my iris. I’m going to give it the weekend and if it’s not clearer, I will call the dr back. No flashes or curtains. Just a bit blurry.
@DD265 How exciting for you to start a family. Glad you are happy with your home decision. Cheering for you!
@alydanbeads Congratulations! Your progress with your health numbers is fantastic!!! You must be so pleased with your hard work. Those numbers are super impressive.
@KellyBgetsfit Hang in there. I know it must be frustrating when you know you have done well. But don’t let the scale define your progress. You have exercised, eaten well. Have you taken measurements lately. You are successful. Don’t let that scale convince you otherwise. ❤️
Way to go exercisers. Keep up the good work. Hugs to those feeling frustrated. Don’t give up. You can do this.3 -

I'll take it. This week was tough. I stocked up on things that my son likes, and ended up eating them 😶. I just have no will power to have high sugar/fat snacks in the house.
So, the date. He seems like a very upfront, polite, honest guy. Boy... we were oil and water. He's probably a great guy. But not for me. Looked good on paper. Correct age, full head of hair, intelligent, active... but it was his way or the highway.
I truly hate dinner dates. I prefer coffee. 30 mins, and you can see if you get along.
Anyways... it's tough dating at 47. Jack is still "my guy."

It's water/salt but I hate it caught up to me on weigh-in day. I had intentional movement 5 out of 7 days this week. ThT was a big accomplishment! It was a chaotic and stressful week with several meals out. Looking forward to a calmer week and eating more at home.
10 weeks until my big trip - Australia! I really want to see 150 on the scale by then.
And I can't believe I got 1st place for the team last week!
I'm reading y'alls posts even if I don't comment. Hoping to engage more with you this week.
