Hard week with all the cravings and need to munch on anything but it did it. And I’m so happy the scale went down. This group is my rock I tell you. Reading the posts and seeing other successes and yes struggles makes me feel not alone in this. Changing one’s life is so hard but hearing the rewards to come keeps me hopeful. Have a great day everyone!3 -
@shaunarlr83 Thanks! Yes, I love the badges, notifications, and competitive side. What I didn't show was there is a leaderboard that you climb the more time you workout. I'm still pretty low but getting higher! LOL about accidentally starting a workout, that sucks! Your dinner sounds yummy and creative. I hope you get to craft, tell us what you make!
@Katmary71 Yeah, it's something different for breakfast and it's so healthy. I don't think I've ever read him. I know he's very popular but you know how I'm not very into thrillers. Thanks for your support! You have such a green thumb, I'm envious of you lol. Did I tell you that my husband got me an Aerogarden for Christmas? I have some herbs growing in it now (Italian basil, thyme, mint, parsley, dill, and Thai basil). All is growing but the mint and parsley, those haven't really sprouted yet but I'm not giving up! Yay for being approved! Yum, I love BBQ. I hope things work out with Bill. Great job with no zero days!
@Micaroo4 The scale is so weird. Sorry about the insomnia.
@Tamevv You are practicing for maintenance, I like to say!
@Cornanda Thanks! I did have 5,000 (I had cut down on them) but I now have 7,531 recipes! I gather a few every day so it adds up quickly. It's kind of a problem because it causes the app on my phone that I use to collect and organize them to act funny sometimes, I don't think it is meant for so many recipes lol. I have all the recipes organized with tags and categories that I can search by, I'm very good about adding that information as I import the recipe. I know some people don't do that and figure they will do it later but then later never comes and soon, they have a bunch of unorganized recipes lol. Yay for starting to track again, that's great! You WILL get there, I believe in you! It's good you are really analyzing your behaviors. Have a good weekend!
Hi all. I didn't start out with such a good day (I didn't eat something healthy for breakfast) but I did a recovery workout in the morning. Then, at my lunch, I said to myself, "I don't want to take my usual lunchtime nap. I want to do something productive." So, I picked out a Reggaeton Dance Party workout video on YouTube (Glowwithjo): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUZSmgYJN8U I'm a terrible dancer and did NOT feel at all sexy while doing it lol. I'm quite convinced that anyone walking by my window would have thought I was having a seizure. But it was kind of fun to do and got me moving.
MY NO-ZERO DAY WIN FROM YESTERDAY: I did an 18-min recovery weight-training session, and a 15-min aerobic YouTube video, I had a salad with my pizza at dinner, and I tracked everything.

I'm finding it hard to stay on my game. I know I can do this with small increments. I have to put "me" back on my calendar daily because it is so full. I should probably journal my "No Zero Days." Seeing is encouragement.5 -

@trooworld I hurt my back about half way through the day and we didn't get to go for Chippers pawdicure. I was so disappointed, I was looking forward to it. He was looking forward to it because, I had already put his collar on him so he knew he was going out. He really loves going to stores, lol...... That video sounds so much fun, I used to do zumba and I loved it😀
@Katmary71 I just set a reminder with Alexa to remind me to find that recipe. You are on, I will try some savory oats if you try overnight oats. 😀😀 I hope you and your BF work things out so y'all can have a great weekend.
@Cornanda Are you a reader? There's a few self help books that help you with skills to help with mind set. "The Shift" "You are a Badass" and "Coffee Self Talk" I have started all 3 of them but, I tend to get disturbed a lot. You can get them all on Amazon. Lol, we are watching all the football games also. Hubby is a diehard and I just kind of do whatever through paying attention every now & then except during regular games because I play fantasy football.
@tammymccrady6278 Congrats on the loss.
Hey y'all,
Well, I didn't get to take Chipper for his pawdicure because I managed to hurt my back. I helped hubby get all the Christmas bins up in the attic. You need a ladder to get into the attic so, I have to lift them up to him and he puts them away. The bins are heavy. After we finished, I was vacuuming and all of a sudden sharp pain went through my back. Chris helped me to the couch and that was where I stayed for the rest of the day. Today, I took it real easy, I think I got a pinched nerve because it felt better as the went on. Tomorrow, I'm going to clean up the spare play/workout room. The grand beauties and I share it, it's their playroom when they are here and it's my workout room when they aren't. After that, I have to clean the other spare room so I can get to the treadmill.
No Zero Day: Even though I spent yesterday and today on the couch, I still drank all my water. 88 oz per day.

@trooworld - So you didn't feel spicy during the workout either?! I'm not a dancer either- your description of it made me laugh. Good for you getting those workouts in and having a salad and tracking! That is AMAZING about your recipes!
@DrewsAnna - thank you for the book ideas, I will check them out. I hope your back feels better today!

Super annoyed with my weigh in this week, I have only had one day when I was over by 300 calories, the rest of the week I have been bang on. I’m still not sleeping so that could be a factor and I have my grandpuppy staying for three weeks so I am actually getting in a lot more steps, maybe that has something to do with it? Anyway, on to another week. Sorry I haven’t been posting, this no sleeping thing is getting the best of me.5 -
@askewcr You've got this! It can be hard when you are busy but you have the right idea, you have to make YOU a priority. You should journal your no zero days, get it!
@Becoming_a_Butterfly Maybe your body is retaining water due to working out. Hang in there, please don't give up! That's great that your hubby will go to the gym with you.
@Bethanie0825 Congrats on the loss! Woo hoo!
@DrewsAnna Oh no! I'm sorry about that. How's your back today? Aww, poor Chipper...hopefully you can take him out today. The video was fun even if I was a clutz lol. Zumba is great exercise and fun, too! That's a great No Zero Day win, you didn't give up on yourself, way to go! p.s. I loved "The Shift"! It was so helpful.
@Cornanda No lol. I felt awkward even though it was just me in the house lol. Thanks! How are you doing? I'm thinking of you.
@megnolia82 Congrats on the loss, you are doing great!
@laurelfit57 Sorry about the weight. Sleep can definitely make a difference. I hope you can get some better sleep tonight. Hugs.
Hi all. I had an enjoyable day yesterday. I met a new acquaintance and we had a pleasant conversation, I think she will move from acquaintance to friend. I made Mexican food for dinner, it came out really well. Although dinner was a lot of calories, I was still under my calories for the day by 39 thanks to having no breakfast and a healthy lunch. I also worked out, which felt great. Sunday mornings are always kind of a s**t show as my husband wants an unhealthy brunch nearly every week and always involves mimosas. We use sugar-free juice in the mimosas, so at least that is ok. I promised myself I would work out before brunch. I will have to "earn" it.
MY NO-ZERO DAY WIN FROM YESTERDAY: I worked out, had a healthy lunch, had vegetables with dinner, and I tracked everything.

Hi friends,
I was feeling a lot better yesterday so I decided to give my fitness challenge a try. I took it slow and did the 15 minute beginner workout from day 1 and it went well. I got in my squats and push ups. Im still dizzy so I didn’t do the crunches but hopefully within the next couple days I’ll get back on track with my daily reps!2 -
Catching up for the last couple days
@Cornanda thanks for the information. It has dropped to the 30-40’s. When it goes below 70, I start feeling it. Since I stopped breads, I haven’t had an issue. Today was the first time I checked it but I think it was nerves due to a visit to my surgeon, because it was normal. I will definitely follow the 15-15 rule.
@trooworld, I need to up my activity too. The new dining set is exciting, I was looking for 2 years and finally sent my daughter to choose one. 😂 It’s going to be great for game night and holidays. I’m so excited! It’s much wider than my old table.
Skinny dipped almonds sound nice!
@shaunarlr83 how sweet of your mom to take you out to celebrate.
I’m so sad to hear the news about Athena.
@tammymccrady6278 congrats on fighting the snacks. It’s a battle, thats for sure.
@Katmary71 so far my favorite thing to grow is basil. I love it! Arugula is second and next is the unexpected watermelons that came out of the compost pile from the kitchen scraps.
Savory oats, It’s nice as a soup. I make it often.
@megnolia82 I hope your treatment has you back on your feet soon.
@DrewsAnna a pawdicure..how cute. I always tell my girls they’re going for spa day. My Gshepard loves it. She comes back all shiny and fluffed. You said Lumpia and my mouth watered, yum! 😂 I hope your back is better now.
CONGRATULATIONS to those who made the leader boards, maintained, lost and are hanging in here.
I’ve been MIA, my youngest has been sick, so I was busy trying to prepare for the worst. Thankfully, it’s only hit her and she’s on the mend.
I had my appointment with my surgeon today and I’ve now been moved to 1 year check up, instead of every 6 months. 6 years of recovery and today he felt I’m doing well enough to be let loose. I’m sure he won’t miss my notebook and a zillion questions. Now onto cardiology Tuesday.
I woke up with a decent loss today, so that was thrilling! I was stuck all week and a surprise today.
No zeros
I’m doing something daily that makes me happy, laugh and learn something.

@Katmary71 - I love that you asked I like telling this story!!! 😁😁😁 it’s my initials… I was born Shauna Rhea Carpenter, a shared middle name of one of my cousins, pronounced Ray, my dad wasn’t in my life and my mom had been married to my step dad for years, so we always used his last name. When they had my little sister and brother together they were each given two middle names and I was jealous 😂 when I was 15 I had my last name legally changed to his and added my own 2nd middle name. Lyn because my best friends middle name was Jo Lynne and another girl I always loved to pieces had the middle name Lyn. I passed it on to my daughter and my niece is named after me just spelled different, Raelynn. Even with the recent divorce I didn’t want to take back my maiden name so I stayed Shauna Rhea Lyn Richards! You’re correct about the birth year 😉 I’m glad you got the approval to go to the hs during school hours and sorry you snapped at Bill. It had to happen at some point right!? Lol I hope y’all are enjoying your weekend together!
@micaroo4 - take the win. No matter what…you were the one who had to go through those few days to get there and if you don’t see that number again for a few weeks it doesn’t mean you won’t ever see it again!
@Cornanda - I got as far as shopping for material for my daughters curtains she wants but didn’t get around to actually making them yet. I’m doing about the same with tracking right now, trying to be more diligent with it.
@tammymccrady6278 - great weigh in and I agree with you! This group is the best!
@trooworld - I’m going to have to try that dance workout!!! I used to have a video that I used until it was worn out!!! Maybe I can find it online now 🤔 That’s my favorite way to exercise!
@Becoming_A_Butterfly - Don’t be discouraged, progress comes so slowly, be patient it will pay off in the end! I’m so happy hubby is stepping up to be your partner!! Hugs!!! You’ve got this!
@DrewsAnna - I’m so sorry about your back, that’s no fun!
@megnolia82 - great weigh in and update! I’m so happy you had a great day!
@laurelfit57 - I hope you get some rest, I’m sure next week you will rock that weigh in for sure!!
Last night my brother setup a family movie night at his house, we searched for all healthy snacks and I got so full I skipped dinner completely. We went walking pretty late 2.6 miles. Today I finally got that workout in with the nieces and then walked some more with my brother, he wanted to hit that 2 miles so bad and he did!!! Mom, brother, and I are seeing results from our healthy changes.
I’m prepping for a day trip to Arkansas with my hiking friend. There’s an exhibit at the museum she wants to see. I’m so freakin excited!!! Probably won’t get much sleep lol.3 -

Things I'm doing successfully:
Intermittent fasting, 14 hours
Tracking food and staying in range
Early morning workout, either strength training or cardio on the bike or elliptical
Sleeping (or at least staying in the bed) 8 hours
Meditation 10 minutes every morning
Stopping caffeine by 2:00pm (usually by noon)
Having some kind of active time outdoors (usually a walk, but today it might be just the shoveling)
Journal every day
Things I'm working on doing better
Cutting down on Diet Coke to less than 3 bottles/day (please don't judge, I'm trying)
Drinking more water (replacing that diet coke with water)
Stretching at least 5 minutes/day
Getting more servings of fruits/veggies daily (currently getting 4 to 6; aiming for 10)

@micaroo4 @laurelfit57 @Vegan4lyfe2012 Way to get on the leaderboard this week! Congrats!
@AmbersWay Congrats on the loss and your awesome progress! Way to go!!! I'm glad your daughter chose a set you love. She must have good taste! You will make so many good memories with your new table. The almonds are delicious, I highly recommend them! I'm glad your daughter is feeling better. That's great that you are being "let loose". Great no zeros!
@megnolia82 Nice effort! Congrats!
@shaunarlr83 It sounds like you had a really great weekend. I hope you have fun hiking and at the museum today, let us know how it goes, and share some pics!!! Here's another one that I did yesterday that was super fun but really challenging (I had to modify a lot): https://youtu.be/yN3GgCUmmXw
@micaroo4 You are doing awesome, those are great things to work on and the things you are doing well are really setting you up for success (and it shows by the leaderboard!).
Hi all. I had a great day yesterday. I held up my promise to myself and worked out before brunch (I did the above dance video on YouTube plus another 15 min Leslie Sansone video). I was so anxious about brunch but my husband surprised me and made a healthy brunch, so I was very happy. After that, I felt inspired to go for a walk in the park with my dog. Overall, a very good day.
MY NO-ZERO DAY WIN FROM YESTERDAY: I worked out, had a healthy-ish brunch, drank enough water, and tracked everything.

Quick check in. I did have a great NSV last week:). My clothes are no longer tight, they are snug and I am able to fit in to all of my work out clothes again!
Last night was another non sleeping night (I really wish I could get my act together). I am here at the gym, I will do my spin class, go home take the food for a walk, have lunch and have an afternoon nap (I typically try really hard not to do that as it can mess with my nighttime sleeping), I seriously need to get caught up on some sleep today I seriously need to get caught up on some sleep today.
Have a great day, everyone!3 -
@Katmary71 – Yup! 49 years old and no gray hair yet! My dad and 2 of his sisters all had black hair well into their 60’s, so I’m hoping I’ll take after them, even though mine is dark brown. I’ve been making my oatmeal using Cinnamon Apple Spice tea from Celestial Seasonings. Just add a pink of a sweetner, if you need it. So yummy!
@lrjogger1 – When I was little, we had to go to a laundromat once a week. The coffee machine there had chicken broth and I used to love having that as my good-girl treat.
@trooworld – Those Skinnydipped treats look so yummy! I think I’m going to have to look for the Super Dark Sea Salt ones as their website lists those as vegan! Yay! Nice work on your Tonal – I wouldn’t consider 100K shabby at all – definitely not a ZERO!
@shaunarlr83 – Maybe I missed it along the way, but what type of crafting do you enjoy?
@DrewsAnna – I am so sorry about your back. Hope you feel better soon!
@megnolia82 – I’m so happy to hear you’re feeling better!
Oh my peeps! This weekend was a whirlwind again. Daughter #1 called me distraught again last Thursday night (she’s leaving her husband) so we made plans to have dinner on Friday. Daughter #2 and I went to eye appts on Friday, then met up with #1. Most of you know, but for those that don’t, daughter #2 is bipolar and pregnant, so can’t take her meds right now. #2 proceeded to have a horrible manic episode at the restaurant. It was the most embarrassing thing. If you have ever seen a 22 year old act like a toddler, just pray for the family. It’s not normal and we don’t need to be judged for their behavior. I had to have the waitress bring to-go boxes not even 5 minutes after she had brought our food. Dropped #1 off at her place. Proceeded to take #2 home, but she wouldn’t get out of my car. I finally talked her down. She’s decided to sign a Durable Healthcare POA so I can make appts for her and help find a new therapist (hers retired and she hadn’t found a new one yet). And I’m thankful for the message she sent me the next day…that she’s changed her mind on breastfeeding. She will bottle feed when she has her baby so she can get back on her meds as soon as possible.
Saturday I took my mom to go see my son’s new house and we spent the day there. Sunday consisted of church, then the final couple trips of moving things for #2. I’m finally done helping all my children move!
I was really scared to weigh in yesterday because I had so many restaurant trips and had eaten a lot over my allotted “bites” for the week (15!), but the week was filled with much more movement than usual, so that must’ve helped. Tiny loss, but at least it wasn’t a gain! I've been doing a great job of stopping eating when I am full. Overeating has always been an issue. I am refocused and ready for a new week.

Storm all day. Heavy wet snow and rain, on top of the heavy wet snow that we got on Friday which was still all stuck up in the trees. Today's additional burden on those trees brought down limbs, full trees, and power lines with them. What looked beautiful yesterday looked very threatening today. At work we lost power in the morning. At home lost power this evening, but it's back now. On the way home from work it seemed like a detour every way I turned (there were 3 detours on a 6 mile ride!). It's still snowing now, and they say the wind will ramp up to 30mph tomorrow. The already compromised trees will likely snap. My boss lost a tree at her house on Friday that brought down the power lines and blocked the driveway. Today, two more trees came down and took down the dog's fence in two places; later another tree came down across the driveway and took out the same power lines that were fixed on Friday.
Other than the winter storm, I had a good day.5 -

@tammymccrady6278 I'm so glad you feel the group is good support, I think a lot of times we think we're the only ones dealing with something but if you're brave enough to share or reach out here you'll find others are going through similar situations. I was bedridden for 20 years and really felt like I was on my own island then decided to add friends and be more open on MFP where I am more than anywhere else and I've grown a lot and made many great friends because of it.
@trooworld I didn't know you got an Aerogarden, that's awesome! Parsley can sprout a little late. Since I started using mine the basil is what impresses me the most! I've had some trouble with mint from seed. You can always pull the seeds out or if they don't start put a couple seeds in the cartridge to grow, you don't have to buy a new pod. I had my parsley and basil start but the dill didn't make it. I just try a lot, I'm not a master gardener! I lose a lot of stuff, Bill and I both killed our rosemary Christmas trees! That Reggaeton video is fun, just don't look in the mirror while you do it and pretend you're a dancing goddess! Haha I caught my reflection in the TV doing belly dancing and screamed because I looked so horrible a few years ago! I make sure there's no way I or anyone else can see me doing my videos. It's always super awkward the first couple times you do a new one but once you start picking up the moves it's better. It made me real anxious to start doing them which is why I made myself master them. I'm so glad you made a new friend, it's not as easy to make them when you're older. Glad your husband gave you a surprise with the healthy brunch!
@ashkewcr I think journaling is a great idea! If you can do it in small increments what about making small goals so it's not too hard mentally? There's the larger group challenge here every week then you can always chop your goal down into smaller goals. When I was first losing here a few years ago I focused on 5lbs at a time because 100lbs scared the heck out of me. I recall @FushiaKat focused on 5lbs at a time too. I get bored super easy too which is why I'm always trying to come up with ways to make it fun especially 4 years later. I really have to chop things down with decluttering, if the goal is my entire closet I have to think of it as one shelf or one box at the time or it's too much for my anxiety. You could do rewards too like if you reach a goal you get something fun to spoil yourself with from new clothes to a fancy lotion or new workout gear. Just a thought, sorry for the rambling but I hope you find a way to get YOU back on the calendar!
@Cornanda Very true about how you can be making mistakes you may not realize, I hope tracking can solve it for you plus it's a great step to make improvements. Weighing peanut butter versus just eyeballing it is the one I remember being a shocker on the MFP forums!
@Becoming_A_Butterfly Did you start something new with working out? Sometimes you can have an increase in weight from that especially strength training. I hope Saturday is an extra good weigh in for you! It's wonderful your husband is willing to go to the gym with you, I love when couples are active together.
@DrewsAnna Oh no, I'm sorry to hear about your back! It's really frustrating getting older and getting hurt doing routine stuff, I hope you're feeling better soon. I'm definitely in for savory oats! I need to see if I have steel cut but if not I definitely have old fashioned. Oh those oatmeal recipes sound awesome, I love the zucchini bread idea! I think I'll just make a stir fry and put it over oatmeal in a couple days, right now I have a bunch of leftovers but am looking forward to it.
@laurelfit57 Huge hug my friend, this sleep thing is tough, I wish I had some advice for you! I know you don't heal as well not sleeping plus cortisol is up, hopefully sleep will get better soon. Congratulations on the NSV! You're definitely in the groove, just need to be able to get some good sleep.
@micaroo4 @laurelfit57 @Vegan4lyfe2012 Way to go all of you, great job!
@megnolia82 Well done getting your exercise in, I hope the dizziness stops and you're doing better soon but great job doing what you can!
@AmbersWay Oh free watermelon plants from compost, that's great! Basil is one of my favorites too, I tend to grow many varieties. I can send you some basil seeds if you'd like, I harvested a bunch from the food bank farm last year, the seeds are black but it would've been better if I could've waited a bit longer but the manager was mowing down the basil so I had no choice. They're mixed in with plant material but I definitely can spare some if you add me as a friend and send me your address. I'm so glad your youngest is starting to feel better. Way to go on the loss!
@shaunarlr83 Raelynn is beautiful! I'm really enjoying how your whole family is getting into being healthy, that would be such a great support system for all of you. I'm glad you're all seeing results! Oh the museum trip sounds fun, I'm so glad you're getting out and doing new things. Woohoo on the loss!
@micaroo4 You're doing great on your goals, just look at the big list of things that are going well compared to doing better on! I love your goals and think they're totally doable, you got this! I'm glad your power is back on, that sounds like a major storm going through there. It gets pretty scary with trees falling, be safe!
@vegan4lyfe2012 Funny I was thinking the tea may be a cinnamon one, that sounds great! I'm sorry to hear about the challenges with your daughters. I'm glad #2 is thinking of bottle feeding so she can get back on her medication, it will probably also help her with having an actual baby in her life and all the changes it can bring by stablizing her mood as well. Congratulations on the loss! You definitely have a lot going on with your kids right now but you're coping real well.
Hi team! Bill came and we had a great weekend, I was pretty flared up yesterday so after we went to a composting lecture at the park (fun walking up to someone asking if she was the worm woman at a park, she loves composting so much she asked if we'd take a picture and instead of cheese we had to say worms!). My brother's birthday was fun but a train wreck food-wise, that restaurant is always challenging and the one my brother chooses for his birthday which is just after the 1st so I struggle with it every year as I don't want to have a night off right after I'm trying to get back on track after Christmas. Back to it now, right? Still having the sleep issues. I rested instead of working out after Bill left in the hopes I'd feel better and I'm not as bad tonight as I was last night so hopefully I'll be feeling a bit better tomorrow. I'm meeting the farm manager tomorrow to drop off seeds then later in the week we'll do another round at the greenhouse. Let's have a wonderful Tuesday!5 -
Hey everyone!
I went back to work today for the first time in a month. It was not an easy day, but I got through. I think I stayed about 20 minutes past my threshold because I was feeling quite unwell by the time I drove home. I’ll have to be more strict with myself tomorrow and truly walk out the door when the work day is done.
The work day did me in so I didn’t attempt my reps and I didn’t do the wellness challenge which was a 35 minute cardio workout. I’m just not ready for that. But I got almost 7000 steps. Nowhere near my usual but mountains more than I’ve done in quite a few weeks.
Should have gone to sleep
An hour ago so I’m going to try to fall asleep
Right now!3
