Syd...I am going to join you this week. My goal is to behave until the end of the month for my birthday. I work the next 2 weekends so that just may workout. However, that hasn't really stopped me before. My best girl's birthday is the day before mine so at least I can knock out 2 birds with one stone.

Gary!! Ha, ha, the men were all clothed appropriately. My mind was more focused on the cleaning than anything else.

Kate, probably good not to push the knee 2 hard.

Eric and I split 2 bottles of red Friday night, but I had a head start, so I probably had more like 4.5-5 glasses. Saturday had 2 Coronoa Lights while watching UK-UL game. Had 3 beers at the festival. Eric and I drank 2 more bottles of red after the fest, but I probably had more like 3 glasses. But I didn't eat much, so I was pretty trashed. I did make a decission on my own to go to bed, and drank tons of water, so was just tired yesterday.

No wine in the house so I'm going to get at least a couple zeros.

OK Kim and Syd, going to try to abstain Mon-Thurs. Watched the Seahawks vs 49ers game last night, so ate and drank appropriately. Time to get back to moderating. Will check in every day as it helps keep me on track. Good luck to all!

yesterday was a wine day. the day before was some vodka. I would love to go for a Mon-Thur zero but I know I am weak and probably will fail. just plodding along in the daily grind.

    Happy lushing all.

I have been having a glass of red in the evening, it seems easier to cut myself off from than the beer, but goes better with chocolate so I guess it probably doesn't matter too much!

Tonight I am going to Red Rocks to see the National, so I budgetted 4 beers for that but we'll see.

I am doing an outdoor movie for my husbands bday, Oct. 12, we are going to show Strange Brew! I think I am going to go for Oktoberfest themed snacks. Fun Flicks comes and sets up the screen and projector, it should be fun!

Let me know what you come up with for snacks so that I use them next year for my party. I did soft pretzels with various mustards blended with different beers, butter, cheese spread and liverwurst. Grill and slice brats, then soak in beer is another good one.

Sunday, I tried to drink beer but it wouldn't go down. 0

I went to pole dance yesterday and barre yoga today. It feels good to be back in the groove.

    Kim's back!
Gary...don't beat yourself up. You'll find your groove.

So I had another 0. Sober September has continued for me...minus the 1 day of vodka. I still have so much booze left over from our party.......but figure I can always take it to our vacay at the end of the month.

Our weather is back to perfect..low 80's. I'm enjoying the club now that the kids are back in school.

My goodness...I've missed out on the complete first half of September!! I can't believe it's already the 17th! Where does the time go???

I've been on vacation & crazy busy at work. Since I busted up my knees & hurt my big toe on vacay...no working out for me this week. :(

Hope everyone is having a wonderful week! I'm all 0's so far...

Did you make pretzels yourself? I was thinking brat sliders on pretzel buns! I like the idea of the different mustards and spreads for pretzels but I am not sure I want to make all those pretzels. The pretzel buns are in the freezer section, so I just have to bake those, which I should be able to manage...

Oh, I like the brat slider idea. You could also do some schnitzel sliders which is basically breaded pork cutlets.

I also have a recipe for sauerkraut with apples and sweet potato if you are interested for a side. I ended up running out of time and not making it but it looked like a good recipe.

I ordered the buns from a local restaurant. They were 68 cents a piece for a brat sized serving. I sliced some for the mustard and such and then left some whole for the Chicago dogs and brats. I didn't even attempt to make pretzels because I've not done that before and I had to make food for 70 people so it was kind of a lot prep overall. I think Kate posted a recipe for it a while back.

Not sure if you are having dessert but I had Black Forest Cake and German Chocolate Cake. You can even make black forest cupcakes for a tray of cupcakes.

    Tuesday, 2 margs
    Wednesday, 0
    Thursday, 0
    Friday, 0
Saturday, probably a pitcher of beer at bowling - 6'ish
    Sunday, 0

    Total: 8 to 9

There goes my 0 streak but I felt 2 margs was actually a controlled thing.

Ron and I went to my daughter's dorm yesterday bearing gifts of food and such. Then, we took her out for a Mexican dinner which lead to my demise.

Tonight will actually be a zero.

Will do!!! I always intend on making two or three batches of different recipes when I make them, but its also beer brew and beer drink day so I'm usually unmotivated after the first batch

On a side note, I grew up in philly so I am very biased when it comes to pretzels!!

Yeah, I will post the pretzel recipe, I don't want to get into making my own pretzels for this party! Cupcakes sound good but I was going to do movie candy and popcorn for the movie, and I was going to have the fire pit on if it's cold and thought maybe some smores but now my menu is all over the place.

Last night I had 2 vodka sodas and 5 beers. I am feeling it today. Will probably have 0 tonight!

Kate, if you try this one, let me know how it compares:)

    Philadelphia Soft Pretzels
This recipe comes from Steven Caney’s Kids’ America (Workman Publishing, 1978). This is a more complicated process, which involves boiling the pretzels before baking, to create the chewy-on-the-outside and soft-on-the-inside quality of soft, baked pretzels.

    •1 cup warm water (120 – 130 degrees Fahrenheit)
•2 packages of active dry yeast
    •2 tablespoons sugar
    •3 cups of all-purpose flour
    •2 teaspoons baking soda
    •Butter or shortening
    •1 egg
•Pretzel salt, coarse salt, kosher salt
1.Mix the yeast and the hot water in a bowl. Stir.
    2.Stir in the sugar.
3.Gradually add the flour. Stir. The dough should become stiff and dry.
4.Sprinkle a little flour on the countertop and the pretzel-maker’s hands.
5.Knead the dough. With the heels of the hands press the dough away from your body. Fold the dough in half and give it a quarter turn. Continue to knead the dough for five-to-ten minutes.
6.Form the dough into a ball. Set in a greased bowl. Cover with a clean towel and set in a warm place for thirty minutes. The dough should double in size.
7.Heat the oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
    8.Grease the cookie sheet.
9.Fill a pot half full with water and add the baking soda. Bring the water to a boil.
10.Rub some flour the rolling pin and roll the dough into an approximate square that is a quarter-to-a-half-inch thick.
11.Use a butter knife to cut strips that are a quarter-to-a-half-inch wide.
12.Twist each strip into a pretzel shape. Pinch the overlapping ends.
13.Set the pretzel on a spatula or turner and lower it into the boiling water for ten seconds. Remove and set on the greased cookie sheet.
    14.Boil each of the pretzels.
15.Beat the egg and use a pastry brush to coat the top of each pretzel.
16.If desired, sprinkle with the salt.
17.Bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for twelve-to-fifteen minutes or until golden brown.
    18.Enjoy!
