Starting to put in the effort I need to lose weight sgain. Going to weigh and track tomorrow. I am watching myself get fatter and less healthy every day. I am 71. If I dont take control now, I may not be able to later. Even if I am the only person coming here, i am going to hold myself accountable and keep posting here. I will log calories and exercise. I will continue to do Randi’s arm weights. I will stop making excuses and start making an effort.
    I will!

Covid ended up not being at all like a cold. I was improving, then got smacked down again by rebound Covid which was at least as bad as the initial round. I've now gone 2 full weeks with little cardio, yoga, or strength training. I feel stiff and weak. Over the past few days, my sense of taste and smell have completely deserted me, and I am anxiously awaiting their return.
I weighed in this morning, but I honestly don't know how it compares to my last weigh-in here, so it is my new starting weight. Baby steps on returning to exercising.
    Good luck, Cat!

I am up 1.5 pounds since my last weighin. I thought it would be more.

Randi, for several months after I had covid, my hair came out in handfuls. Don’t be surprised if it happens to you. It comes back. Taste and smell took weeks to return. Hope you get back to normal faster than that.

    Made me laugh Randi 😂
I went to the library and checked out a bunch of books on minimalism. I like reading about decluttering a lot more than actually doing it.
I love summer, even the rainy days. We have been feasting on home grown
    Heirloom tomatoes and harvesting
Onions and salad fixings. I am drying culinary herbs for cooking and medicinal herbs for salves and teas. Life is grand!

I need to lose 6%, cut back on alcohol, and add to my exercise routine. I do Caroline Girvan Iron series 4-6 days/wk along with spin or treadmill. I just bought a step and found a beginners wo on YouTube, haven't done this in YEARS! I loved it!! Anyone else step that could suggest a video wo online they like? I only wo at home so I like to shake it up.

My go-to has always been Jane Fonda's step aerobics. There are multiple levels within the class for lower and higher intensity workouts. I used the DVD, but I see it is on YouTube.

Cat, where are you? Are you doing an amazing job on your own? I hope so! Are you throwing in the towel? Do you want a reset? Let me know what you think.

Hi Randi, we have our house on the market so I am
Keeping it spotlessly clean while I continue to declutter for downsizing. Whew! Full time job. What i eat is the least of my worries right now and no time or inclination to exercise. My husband has surgery on Wednesday, so that another glitch in the plan.
When all this life stops happening, i will do a reset and see where I am.

What’s up with you? Enjoying fall?

Cat, good luck with the sale of your house. I hope it all goes smoothly. My best to your husband. I wish him a full and speedy recovery. My best to you as well as you deal with all of this stress.
I'm going to stop monitoring this group for now. If you return to MFP and want support, send me a MFP message and let me know that you're back at it!
    Best,
    Randi

I need to be on here. I need the encouragement and accountability offered by others on this journey. I miss the weekly challenges and I do much better with staying on track when I have to post weekly reports on here. Come back @rstanford3
I miss you and all the other members of this group.

Hi, Cat. Are you willing to grant me leader status again? If so, you can do it by clicking on the group name, 60 & Over Serious & Ready!! You'll see a blue Options button. Click that and you'll see a drop-down menu. Select Manage Members. h5vvn8fo1xzg.png
A list of members will open. Select Leader next to my name.yzav17rneckc.png

I tried. Did it work? Are you a leader now?
Lets go with a challenge for next week. Starting on Monday. Aim for half a pound?

    It worked! Thank you.
    Half a pound sounds good.

Okay. So check in here on Monday with a weigh in.
I just discovered roadted salted green peas for a snack. Satisfies the urge for crunchy and salty. 1/4 cup =80 cal
Saw these in an Amish grocery store 45 minutes away. Why did I only buy one bag?

I have to confess - I am more than a little worried about Monday's weigh-in. I haven't gotten on the scale in a few weeks, and I have been doing a lot of stress eating. :# You might hear some long distance screaming. :o
I just bought some more roasted edamame. I don't usually crave salty snacks, but when I want crunch, edamame or nuts do the trick. :)

Edamame are so good! Problem is stopping at a reasonable portion.
I know my weigh in will be a big disaster. But that is why I am back here doing this. I NEED accountability and this group worked for me before.
I had to give away my elliptical machine in the process of downsizing. It was the only exercise I really like, so I haven’t been doing much since I let it go. We will be in a walkable neighborhood once we move, so I hope I can make myself get out every day.

Got my weight and set my new starting point. Let the effort begin. This week the goal is half a pound. Big goal is 30 pounds. If it takes two years, I dont care, as long as I keep trying

Cat, I feel like with a fresh start, I would like to clean up this group. Do you mind if I delete the old challenge threads? We can create fresh, new appropriate ones as we go along. If you prefer to keep them, it's absolutely fine. I'm just in a housecleaning mood.
I have 26 pounds to lose. At half a pound a week, that will take a year. I'm fine with that.
Today was a good day. I didn't exercise as much as I would have liked, but eating went well.
Hope you had a good day as well. :)

I approve of starting over with a clean house. Have at it 😊
Without my elliptical machine, I just cant get interested in exercising. I am on my feet for hours every day as I cull items to donate in our downsizing process. So at least I am not sitting in a chair all day.

What you are doing is activity and is certainly better than sitting. Today was better exercise-wise, but eating was tougher. I caught myself eating mindlessly out of the pantry. :/

I love fig newtons. Haven't had them in ages.
Exercise went well. Over on calories. :#

We had company for dinner last night, and by the time I finished cleaning up I was too tired to post. It was a less than stellar day. Back at it today!

Over on calories yesterday. Kept a sick grandbaby. Woke with sore throat and congestion. Not bad yet, so taking ZiCam and C and D. Need to shake this off so I can work on downsize and move project.

I forgot to look for northern lights last night. Some neighbors got beautiful eerie pictures. Did you look?

Daughter texted us at 10pm telling us to go outside to see the lights. We were already asleep, so we missed it. :D Hope you feel better soon. <3
