New to diabetes and MFP

Hi everyone. My name is Barb and I am a 60 yo female currently living in Western NC. I have struggled for years to maintain a healthy weight and control my blood sugar. I'm not yet on insulin and hoping to make lifestyle changes to keep that at bay as long as possible. I'm on Meformin 2X a day (500mg) and applying for Trulicity with my insurance plan, but no luck so far.
I want to use MFP to track my carbs, diet and exercise and loose weight. I'm looking for all the support I can get! I'm hoping to learn, share and encourage others in this important journey to improve our health.

Hey Barb and welcome! For me metformin and some changes in diet had pretty dramatic results. I lost weight and have kept it off.
I found MFP and the logging to be big help in this process. What are your numbers like on just the metformin?
With the diet, people seem to respond to different things. I think the thing to realize is that you are pretty much figuring out what it is going to take to manage things in the long run. I lost the weight I wanted to lose by mid 2018. I stuck with the way of eating and just increased calories a little for maintenance.0 -
Hello Barb,
so how is it going with your food logging and weight?
I was recently diagnosed with t2d and while changing my diet mfp was a big help to understand how it works.
Like portion sizes and how small eating still adds up.1
