@Bumbinella - Welcome back! I’m glad to hear your soul was rejuvenated and you enjoyed your holiday!
I’m also striving for balance so I can sustain better habits as a way of living, rather than a temporary goal. I’m looking forward to a day when it doesn’t take so much conscious effort and thinking throughout the day.
I’m taking a vacation in August and might try a break from daily logging to see if I can tune into my body’s natural rhythms better.
I hope everyone is doing well. Congratulations to all the step challenge participants for continuing through the summer! Best wishes Shape Shifters!2 -

Yesterday was the third anniversary of the date I started my weight loss journey. I gained weight this past year, although I'm still around 90 pounds less than I was three years ago. So, I've been thinking about how I need to do better in year four. Or perhaps I should say what I need to do better.
And I've had a realization, a come-to-Jesus moment as it were: I've been holding on to that past success and thinking, "Well, I've been gaining weight recently but I'm still in a better place than I was years ago." I'm now coming to terms with the fact that, regardless of how much better off I am now, I'm still overweight and in need of more weight loss. I've scheduled a DEXA scan for next Monday (I couldn't get one yesterday). That scan will give me a body fat percent that will be my new starting point. A DEXA scan last year showed my body fat percent of ~30%, so I expect this new scan to be a bit higher than that. My goal is to get down below 25%. For me, that'll be the finish line.11 -

Hello everyone, I hope everyone's week is off to a good start. I worked the past 2 days, I work overnight tonight, so for today I am taking it easy, trying to rest my foot, I'm almost positive I have tendinitis in my right foot (i have been to the doctor, and the doctor didnt seen to take me too serious and said its a bunnionette, except the pain doesnt match the diagnosis and all the things at are suppose to help that doesnt help at all), and last week I way over did it and my foot was hurting really bad, so trying to rest it while I can. I did workout this morning, opting for the bike instead of the treadmill to avoid irritating my foot more, and a small weight lifting workout. Hopefully I can keep the momentum going.4

@PatriceFitnessPal Do you want to be excused for August or go into the Support team, if you think your break might be longer? Just let us know. I hope you're looking forward to your vacation. I'm taking a week off, the 2nd week of Aug, but not traveling, just not working...love staying home, relaxing, walking and spending time with my Betty! Just let me know how you want it handled...

Thanks for checking, @Jessicakrall8 - I’ll just ask to be excused for August. Yes — I’m looking forward to our family vacation to Bar Harbor, Maine. We’re staying close to Acadia State Park and then spending a few days in Boston before attending a family wedding on the Cape (Cod). My husband’s niece is getting married so we’ll be spending the weekend in Dennis Port.
I’ve been spending a lot of time with my younger son this summer, which has been great, and it will be fun to meet up with our older son during the trip.
I stay-cation sounds wonderful, too! Enjoy your walks, books, Betty, and relaxing time off from work!
I’d love to plan an uninterrupted week of decluttering and deep cleaning, actually. It helps me regulate my emotions and re-set after finishing a few heavy work tasks, recently. I’m going to try to get some uninterrupted time on my calendar soon. I hope everyone is doing well.

I’m sorry to hear you’re still dealing with a sore foot and no clear diagnosis, @angmarie28! How frustrating! I think you probably know more than the doctor, with all your nursing experience and the fact that you know your body best. It sounds like the doctor should be prescribing paid sick leave for you to rest and recover. I hope it heals soon!
That bright yellow butterfly against the vibrant green made me smile, @Cyncia85. Thanks for sharing it and good job on your walk!1 -
finished a couple of big work projects and still have a few to finish before we leave for a family trip. I think I’ll have just enough time to wrap up the projects so we can enjoy the Maine outdoors without too many interruptions.
My husband has been traveling for three weeks and he returns today. My cousin is going to arrive tomorrow evening with her three children and their dog so we’ll have a full house for a couple of days. She lives near Houston but her husband is going on a business trip and she misses her big close-knit family in Boston so she decided to meet up with her family for a week of camping in New Hampshire. She grew up in a family of 10 siblings, and I used to babysit them sometimes, so we have many nice memories of places I took them, etc. I’m looking forward to seeing them all but I’m a little worried about my husband acting cranky due to jet lag and wanting to relax after a long trip to Japan.
I hope he likes the dog because that could win him over, especially since we’re still missing our sweet Boston Terrier, Petey! 🌈🐶. My husband seems to be warming up to the idea of hosting them. He suggested introducing a fun-to-prepare Japanese savory pancake called okonomiyaki to the kids, even though he usually only wants to eat the typical food he missed while traveling for much a long time - like steak, etc. I was going to drive to the international airport, which is a longer drive than the domestic airport that is very close by - to meet him when he arrives later this morning but he encouraged me to keep my rowing schedule. He knows how much I enjoy the crew team, getting a workout, and clearing my head so I feel so appreciative today. I hope he can get back on a good sleep routine quickly and feel relaxed when my cousin arrives!5 -

Yay!!! I'm so happy to finally see some results on the scale. I've been working hard this week and I love when the scale decides to show the loss. I'm going to aim for a 1.4 loss this next week, in hopes of reaching my 10 lbs mark.6 -
@frankwbrown - I admire your dedication and renewed commitment. It was interesting to read about your process for giving up old ways of thinking that no longer fit with your identity. I appreciate you sharing your reflections! I came across this quote about resetting our minds and becoming more open to new ideas, so I thought I’d share it here:

Happy with my journey this week. Started at One Life Fitness at the end of December. Started off at 216-217 and have dropped 12lbs since then! Looking forward to focusing on my athleticism this summer first and foremost. I don’t want to lose my strength gains though. If y’all have any adivice lemme know.

Thank you both! Temperatures here are fine thankfully. We recently had two pretty gross and hot days, but now it will be around 22 degrees (72 F) for the rest of the month which is really nice. My mom is visiting next week and her brother is driving her here, so it will be nice to see him too and show him my house. We are having lunch together and on Thursday me and my mom are going to a bird photography hut in the forest. I am sure we are going to have fun!
My garden is doing pretty well. I will share a picture of my flower patch. No flowers yet, it needs some more time, but a lot of plants are coming up! I have also been puzzling a lot, but haven't shared any pictures. Will drop those under the spoiler as well. Happy Thursday everyone3 -

Your little garden is adorable...and I'm sure it will reap lots of what your hoping soon!!! The puzzles are pretty...and I'd give anything for a 72 degree day right now...the heat index today is 100 today and no breeze...UGH...I just took the trash out and hurried back inside...thank goodness for AC and fans!
Enjoy the upcoming weekend!
