Heyyyyyyyy team ! I'm Vikki, been here on and off for yeesh almost 3 years, I lost almost 30lbs the 1st time I took this seriously, but gained most of it back. I am 51, and have been struggling to lose weight pretty much my whole life, I was successful in losing it and keeping it off for about 10 years, from 30ish to 40ish. So I know it's possible.
I am married, and work full time doing accounting so I am sitting alot. I need to change that. You see in 2020 I had this great vacation planned, and I got in fairly decent shape for it, then covid happened, and it just killed my motivation, then I had back /neck surgery. So exercise fell off completely, and I just haven't been able to get back to it.
Just 2 weeks ago, I rebooked that vacation, although it is slightly different this time. This one is an active tour, where we will be hiking 5-6 miles daily for 8 days, so I have 9 months to increase my stamina, cause if not, it will be my last vacation as I will likely die of exhaustion... kidding, I won't die, but it will be HARD, and I don't want it to be.
Anyway, my goal for August is to be present, to lose a little weight and to build a foundation of exercise, to increase weekly.
So this week I am going to commit to doing a 10 minute of my video every day. (they are leslie sansone walk away the pounds, which is like low impact aerobics)

@jugar Can I rejoin for August, please? I fell off due to family stuff and a ton of travel earlier this summer. I'm ready to hop back on the healthy train!4

@Gidgitgoescrzy You are going to love that hiking vacation! Get out walking asap. Start easy - then add fun things like hills, rough ground, maybe a weighted vest or wrist weights - you have a good amount of time to get ready. Where will you be going?3

Thanks @jugar!

Hello all! I'm Adrianne, 46 yr old mom to a 12 year old, married, work from home. My life and routines have changed a lot in the last 3 years and I am trying to create a new normal that supports my health goals.
Both my parents have/had heart issues, kidney problems, and diabetes. I've been advised maintaining a healthy weight, being active, and managing inflammation are my best tools to combat my genetics. I want to be a vibrant and active old lady!
I have done a lot of fun traveling this year but it's made it hard to get into a good routine. That is my focus for the month of August.6 -
Greeting Team!
I'm Kat and this is my first time participating. I'm 38 and live in California as a government worker, working on a journey to get fit by 40 (15 months). I've not been very motivated the past two months so decided to try something to add accountability. My high weight was 258, so down 15lbs so far, but have a lot more to go!
Weigh In Day: Monday
PW (Previous Weight): 243
CW (Current Weight): 243
My goals for August are to actually move the scale downwards (5+ lbs would be amazing), track every day - even when I don't make the goals, and to get moving (5 workouts a week).7 -

We are going to Ireland. I plan to start actual hiking when the weather gets a little bit better, No need to practice in 90+degree/75% humidity weather, it is just quite nasty here right now.4 -
Welcome @littlemzkitty .. those goals sound very reasonable! Congrats on the first 15 ... that is a great milestone to build off of!4

This Monday really felt like one - so tired at work today. I have to try to get to sleep earlier than midnight.
I just finished a 35 min walk and beat the rain but my foot is hurting worse than it has in months so that's disappointing. Gonna ice and compress with dinner.
@Gidgitgoescrazy that sounds like a very intense vacation!5 -
Reflecting on my day and I did pretty well! I walked on my folding treadmill for 2 hours while I worked. I took the time to make a good lunch of veg and chicken. Overall I made better food choices than I have been and I logged everything. I'm planning to workout first thing in the morning and front load my water. I have an evening event at a brewery tomorrow. I plan to stick to hard seltzer. Trying to balance one day at a time and setting myself up for success. Good night, all!5

Evening all. Just got back from walking our dog. We had a nice BBQ supper and watched a bit of TV with my mom to have a visit. It was super hot today so we had to wait for it to cool down. Every excuse was there not to go, but off we went. Almost at 14k steps. We were reflecting on our walk how we were so disciplined for such a long stretch and now even one day feels like herculean effort. But, an effort that's worth it. Another alcohol free day too which means I was more disciplined with food.
Lunch is packed for tomorrow. Night friends.7 -

WELCOME AUGUST! An opportunity to start over 😀5 -
I did my 10 minutes Sunday, and Monday. Was going to do it this morning as I got up early enough, but instead, I had to clean up and re-pot my pink polka dot plant, my kitty ( I'm guessing it was her) decided to play with last night... She musta had a ball rolling it all over the floor ! This is the 1st time any of my animals have messed with my plants, but it's also my fault. The light fell the other day, and instead of fixing it properly I just put it on the lower shelf, which meant I had to put the plant on the floor... I do have plants on the floor, but they are big ones she can't knock over.
Anyway, I will get my 10 min in today after work. I also somehow just volunteered to stop at the grocery store for work... I did not mean to do that !
I did well with food yesterday, and an on track to do well today also. I am even logging everything !
The weather has actually gotten better, so I think I am going to go on a hike this weekend. I have an appt on saturday at 6.45am for bloodwork, so if I do that, then an hour or two hike at the park, some breakfast and I will be able to be at the pool at 11 when they open... sounds like a good day doesn't it, no cleaning or laundry involved at all.

I'm HUNGRY today. My goodness. But I have my supper planned out and I have positive momentum this week and it's all feeling good.
Brad and I are hoping to Peloton tonight but we both slept like crap.. we'll see how we make out!
Welcome back @CarolAnnM2 .. sounds like a great time!4 -

This has been a weird day! I did not ride Jasper this morning because things got delayed everywhere while running errands - someone forgot to tell me it was National Slow People With Complicated Things Day. At the bank, the people ahead of me had multiple operations that they did not really know how to do on the ATM, then the grocery teller looked like a deer in the headlights trying to straighten something out for the person in front of me (several phone calls involved, only one checkout open ), then the lineup at the gas station... You get the idea. I gave blood this afternoon so I got to eat cookies. I'm really full now. For the past hour I have been working through all the levels of tech and account support from Bell Canada. No end in sight! I guess I'm one of the slow people with complicated things. It's my special day!
OK - time has passed and all is well. The things are fixed. But they still have to call me back tomorrow.
I hope you all had a lovelier day
