HOW IT ALL WORKS: The August challenge runs for 5 weeks, from July 30 - September 2. F2F months always start on a Sunday and end on a Saturday, so adjust your calendars!

Everyone weighs in weekly on their chosen day right here in the team chat. At the end of each week, the tallies are done to determine the team and individuals with the most weight lost. The best losers are announced with full fanfare every Sunday. The team competition is all in good spirits - may the most losing win!

We also celebrate those small, steady losses. If you lose, however small an amount, you are in the green! At the end of the month, we celebrate everyone who lost at least a bit every week. You are heading steadily towards your goal even if you aren't at the top of the weight loss leaderboard.

To make your weigh-in easy to find for your team Captains, please put it right at the top of a message, and use this format:
Weigh In Day:
PW (Previous Weight):
CW (Current Weight):

If you miss two weigh-ins in a row without asking for a break, you will be dropped from the team, so be sure to inform your team captain if you are traveling, sick, or just need some time off. If you want a break, you can be excused for a week or two, or are moved to the Support Team for as long as you need to. You still participate in the discussions, you can weigh in if you want to, but it will not count in the weekly tally. Don't worry! You can always come back even if you get dropped.

Once you reach your goal weight, you join the Goal Zone. You continue to weigh in every week. If you have 2 weeks above your self-defined goal zone, you go back to the regular team to lose that amount before it builds up. You will have a chance to hone those maintenance skills and stick with your team.

In addition to your own team, there are weekly F2F Full Group CHALLENGES. You can do all or none - it's up to you. Participating adds a lot to your success, so we hope to see you there often! These can involve anything fitness, health, or nutrition - and they’ll get you moving, thinking, and learning about this journey. Check the Announcements section for full group challenges.

Let’s show our fellow challengers some F2F love! Introduce yourselves right away, and let the new month begin!!

    1. Tell us a little about yourself? Where are you from? Family? Pets? What are some of your hobbies? Etc.

My name is Linda. I am one of the team captains along with Megan @Megan_smartiepants1970. We have two team motivators, @slimmersixties and @jaysfan82. I am 59, married to a great guy and have 3 adult children. I live in London, Ontario but I am originally from Newfoundland. I have 4 beautiful granddaughters that range in age from 1 to 17. I have 2 very fat cats named Nick and Lady. I love to play cards, read and doing puzzles.

    2. Why are you on this journey? What pushed you to start?

My health and my granddaughters pushed me. I was in therapy for my binge eating disorder and I realized my eating was going to kill me eventually. My diabetes was out of control and I had developed neuropathy from the diabetes. Also, my arthritis was getting bad and weight loss would take pressure off my joints. While there is no way to reverse the neuropathy, I have got my diabetes under control and have been insulin free for about 2 years.

    3. What are your triggers and how can you avoid them?

When I think off triggers I know skipping meals, stress or lack of sleep will trigger binge eating. As for food triggers, potato chips are my downfall. I still have them once a week. This keeps the cravings away knowing I will get them again in a week. My husband brings me home a small bag every Friday. That’s better than flowers to me. 😂 I ate a lot of homemade bread when I was away. I am still trying two weeks later to avoid bread so I guess that is another food trigger.

    4. Do you have a favourite diet you go by? ie keto, low carb

I just count calories. I do intermittent fasting but don’t fret if there is a situation when I can’t fast the full 16 hours. I am considering trying low carb for a few weeks. Going to make an appointment with my dietitian to discuss it with him.

    5. What is your favourite way to workout? Any new workouts you would like to try this month?

I have a bad back and that along with my leg issues limit exercise. Swimming is the best exercise for me. I do mini walks. A few minutes at a time will add up. I hate using my walker so I tend not to do any longer walks. For a new workout I would love to work with someone to help me strength train. I see the spine specialist soon and I am going to ask for a referral to a physiotherapist. Hopefully, I will get a back surgeon appointment soon and get the ball rolling on getting some pain relief.

    6. What are some of your goals this month? Year?

This month I am going to work on building up to an hour swim. I would like to reach goal by the end of the year but as I haven’t set a goal weight I am working in 10 pound chunks. Today I reached 90 pounds lost so I definitely want to lose another 10 to hit 100 pounds lost. Got to join that century club that a lot of our teammates have reached.

    7. What do you expect to gain from the team? Do you have any suggestions?

This is the most supportive team. I love the way you all help other members. I just want this to continue.

    9. Share some words of wisdom with your teammates.

Don’t give up. Whether you lose, gain or stay the same please report your weight. We are here to support you and help you overcome any obstacles. Be realistic when setting goals and your expectations about weight loss. We didn’t gain the weight in a day. Slow and steady wins the race.

    Hey Team Downsizers🤗

Took July off from weighing and checking in to try and reprioritize what’s important to me in this journey. I was getting too caught up in the number on the scale and not appreciating the little changes and NSV and the things that really matter. Also realized how important the accountability and support is here. You all rock and I thank you for sticking by and providing support and it’s good to be back! I’ll be honest I’m nervous about weighing Saturday because I know how much damage a month can do. I tried to focus on mindful eating while on hiatus but still a work in progress. I have a lot of triggers and started hiding food and binging early. Usually it was candy and sweets but pretty much anything carb heavy. Now I try not to cut things completely out because it will cause me to obsess about it but I try not to keep certain things in the house either. The break room at work is still my nemesis. I do not follow a specific diet but my goal is to focus more on fresh natural foods instead of processed. It’s the processed foods I tend to binge. I can make homemade pizza or ice cream and be fine. For workouts I usually use the exercise bike or elliptical and I just started using the punching bag! Great way to decompress after work. I do need to be more consistent with weight training though. It’s just not something I enjoy.

    Goals for August include:

✳️Focusing on the process and not the scale but weighing weekly and reporting here for accountability
    ✳️Weight training 3 times a week
✳️Choosing fresh fruit and raw nuts for afternoon snack instead of anything from the break room or vending machine
    ✳️Reducing purchases of processed foods
✳️Drinking a gallon of water per day

It’s great to be back here! The only thing I’m expecting from the team is honesty in your journey. The highs and lows and everything in between. Even though we’re all at different stages and levels we’re all on this journey and striving to be healthier and fitter. It’s always encouraging just reading through the group chat. We’re in this together and wishing each of you an amazing August💕

    1. Tell us a little about yourself?
I’m 53 and a mum of two adult children. I started my family early and am now having the time of my life doing the things I would have done in my 20’s if I hadn’t been knee-deep in nappies! Im a keen cyclist and have just cycled the width of England which was 160miles (257Km) over 4 days and earlier this year I cycled Phuket to Bangkok which was 350 miles (564Km) over 10 days, then sat on a beautiful Thailand beach for a week. I work in IT Risk for a major bank and love going to the gym. I am single and have a fantastic set of friends who are women supporting women to do amazing, fun, crazy, interesting things!! I am fit strong and healthy, but also have about 20lbs of wobbly fat to ditch. My 3.5 yr old grandaughter is the light of my life and we are currently learning sign language together :)

Where are you from? I’m from Yorkshire, England

Family? 1 Son, 1daughter, 1 grandaughter. I look after my granddaughter at least once a week and live 5 mins from my daughter and see them all the time. They are the light of my life! <3

    Pets? Nope, allergic unfortunately

What are some of your hobbies? Avid cyclist, love to dance, wild swim, Ab Seiling, weekends away, amazing adventures

    2. Why are you on this journey? What pushed you to start? Hit the 14stones mark and am royally sick of the yo-yo’ing. I need to lose 20lbs and MAINTAIN

    3. What are your triggers and how can you avoid them? Sugary food. Makes me eat more junk and then I can end up on a junk food bender for days

    4. Do you have a favourite diet you go by? Calorie Counting

    5. What is your favourite way to workout? Cycling & Dancing - don’t make me chose one!! 😅
Any new workouts you would like to try this month? Getting back to weight lifting.

    6. What are some of your goals this month? Year? Mallorca holiday mid-sept so want to feel strong and ready to tackle cycling up Sa Calobra (great big blummin switchback hill). Drop at least half a stone in weight. Weightlift consistently for strong legs and see my biceps pop up!

    7. What do you expect to gain from the team? Do you have any suggestions?
Lots of chat from people in a similar boat. I love being supported and supporting others and plan to be very active.

    8. Share some words of wisdom with your teammates. I know this is a Weightloss challenge, but I’d say ‘trust your body’ and don’t let the scales ruin your week if they don’t give you what you’re expecting. Don’t look to the scales for validation. YOU know if you’ve been consistent and on plan. The numbers will follow. Don’t sweat the small machine.
