I am reading a scripture and a short story a day from "The Daily Devotional on Prayer".

    I fell off the wagon
    1) My cruise. I had full intention to continue. I didn't want to lug the book so I made copies of enough pages to get me through....but didn't do it.
    2) Then returned to proceed with my move and no structure or organization to my day...so again, didn't do it.

OK team...one week left in 2023...
    • Name one thing you've learned about yourself during this challenge.
    • Secondly, name one thing you hope to accomplish to tie up this last week of the year.
    • Finally, name one goal you've set for 2024 (big or small).

I have learned that I persevere when I commit to something. I will keep trying and trying.

This last week I hope to get through all the holiday and family visits and at the same time still care for myself. I’ve been learning about self-compassion.

My husband and I signed up to do a 10K in April and I plan to work my way up in miles and succeed in partaking in this 10K.

I have learned that measuring and counting with friends helps! 100 days is a good long time, and it has gone well!

To tie up this last week of the year I want to get well (I came down with covid yesterday!!) and get outside more. I did a wonderful 5k walk on Friday and I want more. And I want to get home! I hope to be able to drive home on Tuesday or Wednesday.

2024? Keep the muscles strong, spend a lot of time outdoors, play lots of music, get my horse ready for more cool moves, keep off the alcohol.

I learned that I'm stronger than I realize most days, even on hard ones.

I hope to finish out the year, remaining consistent with my walking.

I want to do better with my nutrition...limiting portions and making wiser decisions.

I had a chocolate kiss on top of a peanut butter cookie. My DIL called it a peanut butter blossom cookie.
I think I’m at 10 days of chocolate.
I don’t for see any more chocolate intake for these last 4 days of December.

Well, haven’t had any chocolate and Santa knew I wasn’t doing chocolate. BUT, I should have told Santa absolutely no sweets at all. Santa brought lots of candy and fruit snack type goodies as well as flavored, sweet popcorn.

SO, I have been overindulging in sweets. Ugh!! I have been taking sweets to my Bridge Club to get rid of them. Yesterday we received more nuts and sugary dried fruits from my daughter. I overindulged on them for a while last night and then decided to throw the rest out. My husband doesn’t even know we received this package. I needed it out of the house because I couldn’t control myself.

Ok, rant over. I’ll pay the price in weight gain. I even forgot to record my food yesterday. I’m sure that was a subconscious omission.

Today, back to weighing and measuring and recording all foods.

@daria0919 Holidays are holidays - sometimes the sweet stuff just comes atcha. You ate some, but you threw away some! Your blip is over. Well done! Your record of 90% chocolate free stands!

I also have gone back to sanity after a few days of celebratory beverages with my stepmother. We both had our Christmas plans wrecked by covid, so we stayed at her house, carefully staying apart, but we did enjoy a small tot of a very nice single malt scotch in the evenings. So I did hit 85% alcohol free for the last 100 days of 2023, and I'll just feel good about that! I got home yesterday, and the remaining days of the year and all of January will be AF.

The one good thing about having covid was that the rich and crazy delicious cardamom Christmas breads that I made tasted like nothing, so I stuck with my healthy foods and did not care that I could not taste things. Now my taste is back, but I left those breads at her house!

I'm glad to hear everyone's done well for the most part. @jugar I'm sorry to hear covid spoiled your plans.
I did well loving myself, and reminding myself that I am good enough until Christmas came.

There are too many people in my life that are only interested in being part of mine if I am doing things for them. If they can't take advantage of me, I'm no good.
I had nephews that wouldn't come to my Christmas party because "they have their reasons" and don't want "crap they won't use in their stockings" ( 3 families contribute to these stockings as gifts for the nieces and nephews so they all get some small little things to open and no one over spends or has too many toys etc in their house) This hurt especially because I go out of my way to make sure I send my nephews birthday cards etc. Make sure they know they are important to us.

My mom broke her arm in November.
I ended up doing all the prep, cooking, serving, and cleaning for Christmas dinner. My dad and sister didn't help at all. When I brought up that I won't be doing it again, they were both mad at me. If my mom was well, we would share the burden. Every year my dad and sister say they will help, but never do.

It all sounds so silly when I write it out. The solution seems so simple. Just don't do these nice things for others.
