I need to lose 10 pounds before the beginning of the year while building muscle(I believe I can accomplish it). I also need to start journaling my food again for accountability. That is why I joined Team WaistAways. On the fitness level, I became a sponsored athlete by EPN Supplements because of my instagram profile. I have to honor them, as well as myself. Good to see you! Your goals sound absolutely reasonable, and journaling (and hanging out here) will certainly help. We have some serious athletes in here and some enthusiastic amateurs, and all of us struggle sometimes to keep it going. Looking forward to your progress3 -
1. Why this journey?
I am on this journey because if I wasn’t it would be even more detrimental to my health. I have high bp and I’m obese. Heart disease runs in my family. (I keep telling myself, they were all smokers. I never have. ) I am almost back at my highest weight. I feel it in my joints. I need to help my body.
My perfect day? Waking up without aches and pains. Followed by doing a Pilates workout. A nice cup of coffee with eggs and fruit. Logging all my food and staying under my calorie goal. Getting in 10k steps. Having a chef cook a delicious Mediterranean dinner.5 -
Weigh in Day: MONDAY
PW: 191.5
CW: 190.7
Why am I on this journey? Because I need to be - I still need to lose more weight. I need to be healthier so I can live a quality life in my senior years.
What would my perfect weight loss day look like? 3 square meals - fruit, dairy, protein for breakfast - protein, veggies and fruit for lunch - protein and veggies for supper - a total of 1200 - 1400 calories. Some sort of activity - getting my steps in, recumbent bike or outdoor walk.3 -
First 2 days with the Fitbit back on - it's back to inspiring me to park in the farthest reaches of parking lots, using a handbasket instead of a shopping cart, and just generally packing more steps into the day. Yesterday and today worked out pretty well -
Sunday - 12,385
Monday - 13,765 + 15 Pilates + 30 exercise bike
I'm also heading for sober October after a mostly AF September. I have cut way back since May, and lots of things feel better, that's for sure. I know there are a few of us working on this, so let's keep it going. I have found a lot of good info and encouragement on This Naked Mind (thisnakedmindapp.com).5 -

Yesterday was a good day, I would say it was a perfect day, I exercised, I ate well, I made grilled chicken with bowtie pasta in a lemon cream sauce, and a side of roasted green beans, it was DIVINE! I impressed myself !
@Maddawgmadsen I work for a Lumber wholesaler, we mainly sell to large private construction companies on the east coast.
Have a wonderful day everyone...

Considering how much I ate out last week while the owners of our company were in town, this could be a LOT worse.
Steps & Exercise:
Sunday, September 24: 6,062 steps
Monday, September 25: 6,004 steps (I did laps around the house once I realized I was only a few hundred off)
Tuesday, September 26: 6,894 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit
Wednesday, September 27: 8,993 steps, 30 minutes of spin
Thursday, September 28: 7,177 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit
Friday, September 29: 5,111 steps
Saturday, September 30: 5,539 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit
Sunday, October 1: 2,829 steps
Monday, October 2: 4,525 steps
I will start posting my step and exercise counts daily, or as close to daily as I can since I realize doing it weekly cuts off a week for me at the end of each month.
I hope everyone has a great Tuesday! Cheers!6 -

It is frustrating to see the scale go up, even though I've had the best week in a long time. I'm sure it's just a water fluctuation but was hoping for a decent loss.5 -

I'm going to follow your example @MaddawgMadsen and post exercise stats daily instead of weekly. How's your sober October going? Anyone else doing that?
Today I was on my feet a lot! I had a fun ride / walk - a friend and I took turns riding the horse and walking on a beautiful sunny day with everything from trails in the woods to the open fields with views for miles. I remembered to take off the fitbit while I was on the horse! Then I came home and slogged away in the garden continuing to get it put to bed. Many trips to the compost...

I have been at 149.something for a few weeks so I was excited to see the scale finally move, especially since it is my first week back on the team. I have not been getting my morning workouts. I am happy to report I am up and ready to workout before work. Have a great day team!6 -
Tuesday, October 3 - 6,988 steps, 1 hour of CrossFit
I already did 35 minutes of spin today and am at 1,503 steps. It is looking to be a nice day (no rain), so I should be able to get my morning walk in and hit my step count with bowling after work.
@jugar - my sober October is going well. One thing that really helps is a subscription to Athletic Brewing. They make NA beer, so I can get my beer fix without the alcohol and without breaking the bank on calories. Also, they have a gluten reduced beer as well as hopped seltzers that are really good. Also, thank you for sharing the info about This Naked Mind. They have some great resources!3 -
@KellyBgetsfit and @CarolAnnM2 great loss this week
Hump day is here but I'm keeping my motivation up. Did a tough Peloton class before work and the weather is holding up to get out for a walk with the dog later on today. Anyone else celebrating Canadian Thanksgiving this weekend? For me it's hit or miss with my family and harvest as most of my family are farmers and they don't stop. some years it's on the Thankgiving weekend, other years it's later.2 -
@cleaneater80 Thanks for asking about Thanksgiving! I am having an extremely special one this year. I am arriving in Edmonton Saturday, and will finally meet the Afghan family I and a group of supporters helped to get to Canada. This is the family of an interpreter who worked with the Canadian military. He was the interpreter for one of my daughter's best friends during his tours of duty in Afghanistan, and they are like brothers. I helped how I could during the almost 2 years after the Taliban takeover while he was in hiding. We worked to cut through the red tape, delays, security check madness, and finally they got here in June. I know I have mentioned this family here before, but I am thrilled to be able to meet them finally! I am sure I will be served a feast, and I will play them some music. Then I'll spend a week with my daughter and just get to hang out in Alberta.6

Good evening Waistaways 😊
I'm afraid I am starting this month with gain 😢😩
CW 227.2lbs
Really painful TOTM, my uncle still recovering from his hip operation, stress - I think all of it contributed to 2lbs gain 🫣
I'll try harder for next Monday ❤️7 -
Hello all. I'm Sylvia, 54, in Massachusetts, US, and have been with Waistaways since 2020 after decades of upswings in weight and intermittent success, only to swing up again. Had good progress in 2020 from a top of 196 or so, down to about 150 which felt marvelous. But up it's crept since then by about 25lbs and I'm determined to fight my way back to where I felt really good. The last couple of years have been challenging with family health scares and care needed. But the last of those, has just ended. My dad died last Sunday - 94, no pain ever and peaceful - I am really feeling okay about it. And I took a significant action that morning: the gallon of chocolate haagen dazs I'd bought - he ate a little & I ate a 1/2 gallon on Saturday...I took it and dumped it outside on the grass. Have done similar with 2 bottles of partially opened wine recently too. Maybe I'll add that to my habit tracker, ha! 'Dumped something out'.
Anyhow, I'm back, I'm serious, and I don't have any excuses. Only MY food and the cat's food in the fridge. Really need to focus on logging - obsessing with that last time, really worked.
✅ Why are you on this journey? What pushed you to start? Feeling very uncomfortable in my clothes, wanting to get healthy for the future me (lots of hiking in future retirement).
✅ What would your perfect weight loss day look like? For example, how would you start your day🌞, foods you would eat🥬🍎 and activities🚴♂️? up early, 15 minute stretching exercises, start with an egg/tomato on rye, half caff coffee (2-3), off to work, do the work stairs often, eat my packed lunch - soup or salad, almond snack, carrots, after work, do some yard work, then some baked fish supper with broccoli, and whole grain rice/quinoa mix, go for an evening walk...into bed by 9 where I pre-log the next day menu.5 -
I'm sorry to hear about your dad, Sylvia @eggfreak. I know he enjoyed that ice cream and I'm proud of you for dumping it on your grass...very strong of you!!
I had an ok day eating wise, not perfect but I got to the gym. My stress at work has skyrocketed the past few days. I can't give details, but hopefully it will calm down soon. It is crazy how the stress makes me want to binge. I haven't had this strong of a craving to eat any and everything in a long time! I remind myself, I don't want others to have control over me (well I guess affect me enough that I want to binge) and my plans to improve my health.4 -
@eggfreak Hugs to you - I know it is hard to lose a parent no matter how expected, but you will also now have more time to take care of you. You were wonderful to care for your dad for so long, and I am sure it eased his final stage of life enormously, and made it possible to leave peacefully. Keep on dumping things and you'll be feeling light and free5

Exercise today for you @ashleycarole86 -
10,642 steps + 20 Pilates + garden and horse but we'll leave those off the step count. It was just a beautiful day to be outside.
Last Wednesday person, and Thursday crowd up! Here you go - send me those lovely numbers:

@eggfreak My condolences for the loss of your father, you have been such an amazing support. Thinking of you
@jugar Enjoy your visit to Alberta, so glad you'll have that wonderful time... what an amazing story
@lauren_989 Work stress has been crushing me for the past year or so, so I really feel for you there. I also understand how it creates the urge to binge. Hang in there. I hope it's short lived.
Well, we are off to Vegas tomorrow!!!4 -

I’ve been eating well this month since Monday. I went to the gym tonight and did a back/chest/arm workout, so my weight was a little elevated. I couldn’t weigh myself in the morning. I was a little bloated 😢. I’m trying to maintain 200g of protein which is what my friends have been preaching to me. Have to do better. I’m happy with my food decisions so far this October. Peace and prosperity to everyone.7 -

PW- I couldn't seem to access the full spreadsheet to check at what it was last week. But, I think I'm in the green yeehaw.
@MaddawgMadsen & @jugar I'm in for a dry October - wine derails all my efforts the evening of and the day after
@micki48 I just LOVE your ideal day, finishing off with a chef cooking a fabulous Mediterranean dinner. Great idea, we all need that. Think I'd pick Jamie Oliver - everything he makes is so colorful and looks beautiful - his serving sizes would help me too (I often see his end result and think 'I could eat 4 of that'.
@jugar your trip to Edmonton - what an amazing moment that will be to meet that family.

Yesterday was a good day, today will be a good day, then I am off to go camping for the weekend.

OK, folks - this week is looking rather red so far Get to work on next week! Go for the green! Don't let any red numbers get you down, though - just spur you on to refine and adjust.
I'm madly running about today trying to finish all the things and get ready to leave tomorrow. Yikes...4
