Well here we are Christmas morning. I know (and hope) that many of us will be off to friends and relatives homes today to celebrate this holiday, often with a huge feast. Many have been talking about NOT participating in these festivities because it will just ruin your weight loss journey. You are vowing to not eat anything anyone made and even making up an excuse to just not show up. Please don’t! 🥺

Enjoy your time with your family Christmas comes but once each year and seldom do we have such a wonderful opportunity to be so absorbed in the warmth and love our families provide. Yes, I know uncle Bob is a lush and Aunt Mary is a gossip. Your brother-in-laws jokes are dumb, sometimes off-color. Grandpa will refuse to participate in any games, and will fall asleep in his favorite chair. The kids will run wild and the cats will insist on shedding all over your cloths. The house will be full of treats and junk you would never allow in your house and dinner will be an array of high calorie, over carb, over salted, over sweetened…but it is all made and/or purchased with love by people who love you for who you are. Our time is so short and we seldom have an opportunity to really feel the love from the people who truely love us the most.

Tomorrow! Tomorrow, you will put on your sweats and take a little longer walk, a few more minutes on the elliptical, a half dozen extra sit ups. We will all get our journals out and diligently record every mouthful we eat. 😇. If you are smart you won’t jump on that scale until next weigh in day. And in my mind we will all be happier and will be energized to hit the new year with renewed determination.

Anyway, that is what I will be doing. Merry Christmas to you all. Here to much less of all of us in the coming year!

Well said! Thank you for sharing!

Good morning! I have a couple of events to attend over the next week but there is not crazy amounts of food involved. I really enjoyed Christmas but time to get back to a normal diet. Today I am staying in my pjs and relaxing. I will start putting the presents under the tree away as we will be taking it down before the weekend. I am up 4 pounds from Friday’s weigh in but I am in maintenance range still. I am retaining water so I really won’t get an accurate weight for a few days. I will be drinking lots of water today to help with the bloat.

    Have a great Tuesday!

"The biggest thing that has helped me with the binge eating is therapy. I learned my triggers. I have to be very aware of those urges to binge. I have to look at what’s happening in my life that maybe triggering those urges. For me, stress and poor sleep get me every time. Yesterday was a very stressful day and my sleep has been terrible lately. Those urges to binge were so strong yesterday. I felt wore out just from fighting them. I have to give myself credit though because I haven’t had a big binge in awhile. I would eat 1000’s of calories in one sitting. Like you I would sneak food and then go by myself to eat them. I know with binge eating disorder, I will fight the urges to binge for the rest of my life. I have to remember the tools that I have learned though at times it is easier said than done. Weighing daily helps me also. I did take a break from the scales a few months ago for a couple of weeks when I was having a lot of bloating due to a stomach problem. The big swings in my weight messed with my head. "

I started seeing both a nutritionist and a therapist a little over a year ago. I no longer see my nutritionist but I still see my therapist weekly. Its has been immensely helpful for me to build my self esteem and find more useful coping mechanisms.

Thank you so much for sharing this and opening up this conversation.

My steps weren’t this low as I forgot to put my watch on for a couple of hours. I leave it off at night ever since it started irritating my wrist and not wearing it at night seems to help prevent the irritation. I have my injections for my back later today. I really need it as I have woke up before 3 am the lat two mornings because of pain. Tonight the family are going to bingo. My granddaughter just turned 18 and is now allowed to play. It should be a hoot but a few of them have never played. I am going to take it easy again today as if I don’t I will never make it through the bingo session because of my back.

Wish me luck and cross your fingers that I win a jackpot. Have a terrific Wednesday!

    Team Captains (@lindamtuck2018 and @Megan_smartiepants1970)

We're leaving for the Cotton Bowl game (Ohio State vs. Mizzou) and won't be back until Sunday and I won't be able to weigh-in for the next 4 days so I'll be skipping this coming Friday and will resume on Friday, Jan 5th. Thanks.
