Good Morning Beautiful People!
This is me today… I got 8 hours of sleep but not a restful 8 hours.. so I guess I can say I was in bed 8 hours.
I didn’t let that stop me from going to the gym this morning. I’m already at 60% my step goal for the day. 🎉🙌🏼
Coffee, Church, then ready my house for the Super Bowl. This house is not a sports house, so for us it is about the fellowship!
Wherever you are today, make good choices!

And I'm so sorry to be recording yet another gain. I blame it all on the new muscles that I'm growing as a result of Heather Robertson's program that I am following.
Ironically, I am getting more trim and my clothes are fitting better. My food intake was much better this week too, so I'll just have to front it out and keep going. A bit fed up .. !!

Hey team! Happy Sunday. We have been taking it mostly easy around here. I got caught up in eating way too much last night so I have the regret of that to deal with this morning, a skill I need work on... anyway, it's a sunny day and we will walk our dog and I really hope to get on the Peloton today because I've been avoiding it. Last week was stressful and rather than lean into exercise I spent too much time being sedentary.
I had a great breakfast yesterday, I've been trying Ghost protein powder and I find it makes things very voluminous when it's whipped up.. anyway I used it in a smoothie bowl and it was so thick with the minimal liquid and frozen fruit that I felt like I was eating ice cream for breakfast. Fun! Brad doesn't consider a smoothie a meal so I usually only have those when I'm making my own breakfast... a fun option.
I've been doing some more deeper cleaning tasks and yesterday involved clearing out the freezer with food that was freezer burnt and never getting eaten. Feels good to purge!6 -
Dearest Ashley @ashleycarole86,
You know my workout routine so well - bless you! I DO normally go to a yoga class on Thursdays, but I didn't go last week. I was exhausted and just couldn't make it in the end. So all I did on the 9th was just a pathetic step count.
Anyway, onwards and upwards as they say. There is great excitement in the Fedden household at the moment because I am going down to London for a few days tomorrow. I have a photoshoot scheduled for Tuesday, so I'm going to sandwich that appointment between a couple of days visiting my mum! I will try to do one workout session when I'm down there and will pack my workout gear for the trip. Thank goodness it's half-term and I don't need to go to college next week!
@ChelleChelle1031 - I do envy your step report - I really need to do better. And thank you for sharing your pix of the "2 brain cells"! It made me smile!
Enjoy the rest of your Sunday, Friends.

@YinxFed -
it is a true daily challenge for me. I work from home at a desk job. Last year I averaged 3,029 steps a day average. This year I’m almost to the halfway point of what I did for the entire year last year.. Wow!!
I made a goal for myself, to lose weight. That goal included stepping 10k+ steps everyday this year. This then forces me to be accountable to
exercising, as I get most of those steps from the morning treadmill and afternoon walks.
5 -
@ChelleChelle1031 that is awesome!!! what an improvement already! You're on track to walk almost 4 million steps in 2024. keep it up!
@ashleycarole86 I hear you on the sedentary-ness. Snowboarding on the weekends is great but now that my yoga challenge is done for January, I am committing to a new weekly routine for the rest of Feb and probably March, too. Strength on Mondays & Thursdays. Dance cardio with my girls on Tuesdays. Walks on Wednesdays and Fridays (unless traveling friday). Snowboard Saturdays if applicable. Yoga/stretch or walk on Sunday. I've been spending too much time in my armchair lately, and I don't want to completely lose the muscle I built in my fall workout challenge. Plus the spring challenge will probably kick off by the end of March so I want to swing back into that schedule without it being a shock to the system.
I have about 2.5hrs until some friends arrive for the Super Bowl. I have a LOT of cooking to get done before that (both for the game and for my week), plus a yoga video, plus a shower, my hair is an absolute mess. ready, set, GO!3 -
Wow! Lots of go go go in here. I have been doing sit sit sit sit write write write write all day again. But it will be done soon! The final version has to be gone on Wednesday, so Tuesday is the limit for me to put anything else in there. I think I can get just about finished tomorrow morning.
My stepmother will be seriously disappointed that I am not watching the super bowl. She got me into watching football when I was down there to help out with my father, and I even saw the Chiefs play a couple of times! I started to kinda understand a little bit of the game. And I remember some of their names! But I'm not watching - I will actually catch up on the highlights tomorrow or sometime, which I never have done in the past. I hope all of you who are into the game have a fun time with it! I'm rooting for Pacheco! Without even looking!
Now it is time for nag nag nag!

So, I had a good weekend, we started off yesterday on a 3.3-mile hike, but we couldn't find the short cut to avoid the 1.6-mile part, so we did the whole thing, and ended up doing 5 miles. It was a nice hike, but it was very hilly, and my glute muscles are feeling it today. Also discovered my waterproof shoes aren't waterproof when you step ankle deep in the creek. I do not like crossing rocks, and I didn't think the water was that deep. Lol.. but I was impressed with how quickly they dried out while on the rest of the hike, they didn't bother my feet much at all, so they earned a spot in the luggage to Ireland.
When we got home, I prepped for the week, its tuna salad week, or as my husband calls it celery, onion salad with a little tuna. I eat mine with Triscuits, it's one of my favorite lunches. I also cut up a cantaloupe, and it is flavorful, it's really a crap shoot to get a good one this time of year. We made homemade pizza for dinner, it was yummy. I also made cupcakes; I did chocolate fudge with buttercream icing. I had one and it did not agree with me at all, so I guess that's a plus, because they were very yummy, but after that tummy distress, I will not be eating another... I only made 12 and threw away the leftover batter and icing, I never learned this when I was little, but you can throw unused food away that you don't want, and it really would not benefit children in other countries if I saved it or forced myself to eat it.
I did not watch the Superbowl, it just did not appeal to me, so I skipped it.
Saturday, I got up exercised, then went and got a facial, it was lovely.
Hope you all had a wonderful weekend, on to a great week !

@Kali225 - We are going to purchase the furniture at the house we are currently renting. We have been renting a furnished house from my brother-in-law for the last five years. He and my sister have offered to let us buy the furniture and other housewares, so we will do that. Since we have six weeks before we have to be out of the other house, we are going to take the first week and fix a shelf in one of the closets, install a dog run for our dogs, and paint a few rooms. We will then do our big move on Saturday, February 24th.
This last week has been weird. It snowed overnight on Thursday, so Friday I didn't go to spin class. Nor did I go to work or CrossFit. I did, however, get a lot of packing done in the morning, and made it to both my consignment drop off and blood donation appointments. After I donated blood, I took my mom shopping, which has become our Friday tradition. I then made it to sushi dinner with a friend and to dart league. Saturday I woke up with a terrible sinus headache. My guess is that I didn't have enough water after donating blood even though I did have quite a bit. I had to lead a four hour meeting for our school board with this headache. It was quite miserable, but I made it through. Then, Sunday, I felt fine so the husband and I got a lot more packing done, made it to the bowling alley to make up games, and then over to a friend's house for the Super Bowl where I got to hold their 3-month old baby most the game.
Everything has been busy, but I'm pretty content with my food choices even though I haven't made the time to track them. I'm pretty positive the only days I've gone way over on calories are those where I've allowed myself some drinks. I guess we will see what the weigh-in shows this week.3 -
@Gidgitgoescrzy wow!! I need to learn how to throw away batter/icing! It makes sense. I tend to just not make them, but I love the idea of making a few every once in a while.
@MaddawgMadsen that is great you can buy the furniture you are using now. Packing is a great way to get steps and movement in!
Having a good Monday so far, I hope it stays this way! I plan to go to body pump after work today.2 -

YESS! I am always just a bit worried in the week after someone has a loss of over 1%. Last week you lost 1.21% and this week 0.67% - this is excellent! Our bodies sometimes bombard us with all kinds of cravings (disguised as "you deserve it!") after a loss of over 1% in a week. You held fast, but did not try to go too fast. This brought your average for the 2 weeks to 0.94% which is sustainable and does not tend to freak our poor homeostasis-obsessed bodies out. You've got this!3 -
Thursday was definitely over 7,000 steps but my Fitbit died.
Snow on the way. School was called for tomorrow. I could do better with logging.7 -

@jugar. Sorry. I had no change. Still 150. But very sore from my workouts yesterday. And my clothes do fit better. So I am happy.
@Gidgitgoescrzy I love how you throw out leftovers. I won’t eat things I don’t love. If I am going to be over weight it will be from things I love
Sore tonight. So did a stretch workout from FitOn
Work was nuts. Then spent almost an hour on the phone choosing my new aquarium lid.

We might be getting some snow tomorrow so we were all told to work from home Tuesday which is great. My Sunday was jam-packed and I did not get good sleep tonight, so definitely glad to get an extra hour tomorrow morning.
And it is now just midnight so off I go. Very happy with the crispy chicken cutlet baked penne I made for dinners this week, and italian sandwiches for lunch. hope I can sustain the positive energy around eating this week.5 -
Sorry all that I’ve been a little quiet on here and for not sharing my steps/exercise… it’s been a month already.
Last week I managed only 2 days of workouts because of the craziness with work, and yesterday I had to cancel a workout class late because at 3pm, I had a lot of people reaching out to me on TEAMS for chats that took me until 6pm to wrap up. I do love it when people ask if you have a minute and then it takes twenty or so. 🤦♀️
It’s snowing here as well and I was instructed to go ahead and work from home which I’m comfortable with. I am going to do a pilates workout this morning to get some movement before the work day. I also pre-logged my meals and snacks to stay ahead. I usually find when I pre-log, I’m better at sticking to my goals and not mindlessly snacking around the house.5 -

Yesterday was good, I did not exercise, well I did some upper body strength, but my calves are still hurting alot from the hike this weekend, I have got to work on that. It happened last time, although it was the front of my calves, this time it is the back. I thought it was the heavy boots, but I think it's the hills, so as soon as this heals, I guess I need to really work on my calves.
I even logged all of my food yesterday, I haven't logged in forever...
Have a great day !

We are getting snow so it’s on its way north to those above Philadelphia. It is pretty. I will try and make myself do a Pilates workout today. I don’t really understand why but it’s like I am refusing to get on the mat. I know I feel good when I do but still, I avoid it. I don’t understand that thinking. Self sabotage? Laziness? Apathy? Stupidity? 😩
I logged my breakfast. Tonight is Pancakes for dinner for Fat Tuesday, Shrove Tuesday or whatever you want to call it. We bought Fastnacht to share tonight too. Thanks hubby! They are special cinnamon sugar covered donut things.
Wishing everyone a great day.

@ashleycarole86 - Monday, February 12 - 5,089 steps, league bowling - three games
@micki48 - love the picture because the snow really is beautiful! But, seeing that much on a work day gives me anxiety.
I'm in a rough spot with my job. It's really not a bad job, but I know I could find something easier, with less stress, better benefits, and comparable pay. I'm the secretary/treasurer of our company which is our title for CAO/CFO, and I have been here for five years. I work side-by-side with the president. Which would make it seem that I would have sway with benefits, and I do, just not enough. I currently get the same amount of PTO as the guys we hire fresh out of high school and I am expected to drive 11+ miles to work in the snow even though I have the ability to work from home. After my accident last year (ice hiding under a patch of snow turned me 180 degrees, sent me sliding sideways across the highway and off the road), driving in the snow makes me incredibly nervous.
I've had conversations with my counter part (the president) about all of this, but he is old school. "This is how it's always been", "we all had to serve our time" and "our guys in the mill can't work from home", are his favorite sayings. My arguments are that I served my time to get where I am at, I just didn't have the opportunity to do it here. Change is inevitable, so how it's always been might not be working any more. And, just because others can't work from home doesn't mean that I shouldn't take advantage of the fact that I can when I need to.
We have a parent company out of Germany, so my boss is technically the Finance Director in Germany. I have a good relationship with him. Currently I am torn between talking with him and seeing if I can write a new contract for myself even though it could strain my relationship with the president by going over him, or just looking for a new job. I have been looking, but I can't seem to get myself to apply to anything. Or, maybe the best option is that I apply, get some offers, and then bring that back to the president of our company. I am struggling because I feel like I either stay bitter and unhappy or I strain relationships.
Sorry for the rant. It's been weighing on me for a while and with the house purchase and my husband applying for a new job, I needed to share. Any advice is appreciated, too.

@Kali225 I would love that recipe for your chicken penne!
@MaddawgMadsen I know what you mean! I was the Assistant Director of a unit and whenever it snowed, I was not necessarily needed and it would have been safer to stay home, but my director was like "if our staff are here, we need to be here to show our support." Then on the drive home, I got stuck in the entrance road to my townhouse and luckily a random guy in a truck was driving around with ropes to help people who got stuck. Let me just say 6 inches of snow in a toyota corolla with 2 wheel drive in a city where they don't plow is crazy. I missed the next 2 days of work because my car was stuck where the nice person towed it. I would recommend applying for other jobs and then come back with negotiations and be prepared to leave if the president doesn't agree.
I had an ok week. Some days I ate over and some days under. I guess it averaged out!
I did the 3rd week day 1 of the couch to 5k program today. I have slacked on this and my race is 5.5 weeks away! My goal is to finish faster than last year. I won't meet that goal if I don't get out jogging! 🙈4 -
@jugar
Can I be honest? FIRST of all, I am super thrilled that you care enough to point EVERYTHING you said out. Did you know that when you quote people, it doesn't tag them? Strange. Because I almost missed your nuggets!
This past week was a struggle because I had a marriage retreat this past weekend, plus the Super Bowl. I don't think I went crazy, but it has knocked my habits off its square (ie Logging food within MFP--I've used notes and even wrote down on paper)
I also tried to practice REST last week, but I'm doing a virtual race where trying to walk 60 miles this month so I'm walking almost everyday, at least 2 miles a day.
I have to understand that REST doesn't mean quitting and just trying to find a sweet spot for that.
I'm having trouble eating when I'm hungry (ie eat cause "I deserve it", social gathering, "I feel" like I could eat). So I resonate with what you said about the cravings. So I've hid the flaming hot Cheetos my sister brought over AND I'm tryin to tell myself I need to reach my water goal before I indulge and THAT helps me not only reach goal, but get my mind off of things yet another day.
I just care about building the healthy habits and I want the results to speak for themselves. Also if the scale shifts next week I won't be surprised. The scale I have and my weight have been fluctuating. I can't wait to feel like I'm "for real, for real" in the 170's.StayFITTer wrote: »Weigh In Day: MONDAY

the snow was a total no-show today. disappointed but I also drive a corolla and I agree with @lauren_989 - that is not a snow car!!
I can't say the penne recipe is low calorie but you could definitely make some substitutions here as needed. The base recipe is Mario Batali's baked ziti (couldn't find ziti so I used penne): http://figtreeapps.blogspot.com/2010/01/mario-batalis-baked-ziti.html
And then for the chicken component, I bought skinless tenderloins, chopped them raw into like 1 inch chunks, quickly breaded them with egg and panko, and fried them in canola oil. I tossed them into the pasta at the bowl stage of the recipe and dumped everything into a 9x13 dish to bake. I love the flavor of crispy chicken after it has basically been soaked in red sauce. It stays tender but still has texture. Yum
@MaddawgMadsen ugh, that is a tricky work situation. I agree with Lauren that starting to seriously apply to other options is the first step. Finding a new job is a job in itself and you may need more time than you think to see what is out there and what really appeals, + interview practice is always good. I think there are still a good amount of remote opportunities in the market so you may find something that is way more flexible, less old-fashioned. Also most companies out there should give you better PTO for your years of experience! Getting the same # of days as a 19 year would piss me off.
Speaking of pissing me off, I ordered a replacement vacuum part in January from a website I haven't used before but was one of the few places that had the part. It still hasn't shipped and I've chased customer service twice. Starting to think this is an actual scam and I need to dispute the charge on my credit card. lol great.4 -
@micki48 love your photo of the snow. Beautiful photo.
Today was a reminder that no where is safe. We lost one of our finest in Wyoming. Sgt. Nevada Krinkee was shot and later died of his injuries. He was serving a trespass warning. A warning. We take so much for granted and get a bit complacent in our jobs. I have served numerous trespass warrants. They were like at the bottom of my list to be concerned with. Not anymore. Please give thanks to all those who serve to make us safe.

Good Morning Beautiful People!
I’ve been MIA for a few days. Made some wrong choices on Super Bowl Sunday. Ate bad, stayed up late. My body felt that and well it is taking me a minute to pull out of the funk.
I still got my step goal in each day, just wasn’t logging food or going to the gym.
Got up this morning and went to the gym and already at 60% of my step goal for the day. Time for coffee and work.
At lunch yesterday, I decided to walk the trail. Just to get some sun. I walked to the Veteran’s Memorial my city just built. It is a stopping point on the trail that basically runs the whole city. When I got back, it was 3.5 miles. It was a nice reward.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
