Bisky, your cards are really eye catching. I’m sorry to hear about Brooks’ health issues. Your travel photos were lovely. And those pups! Beautiful souls shining through the photo.

Here are the recipes for eggless and tuna-less salads.
The eggless is kind of long in ingredients list. But is worth it, I think.

Mihani, I would like to do more simple and easy. I’m not good at that. Not yet, anyway! I like your microwave steamer ideas.

I have a degree from the distant past in graphic design and fine arts. I am recently retired and working on pulling together my studio in the basement. I love to draw and want to paint more in acrylics and watercolor. This a recent self portrait drawn in a digital app.

That's cool, Sue! Bisky and Carla are very artistic and creative too. I'm the untalented one in the group. Thanks for the recipe, I'll have to give that a try.

Another long day, but for the first time in a long time I'm home on time! Only because I had an appointment near home at 4:15 and came on home after.

Ran out of the peppers and onions so tonight I'm throwing some broccolini in the microwave steamer and going to have that, lettuce and salsa in corn tortillas. I'm enjoying the "tacos" this week. I tend to eat things for 4 or 5 days and then move on to something else. I'm pretty well settled into oats for breakfast and salads for lunch now. Dinner is the variable.

Nanc, just a shout-out thinking of you! Hope everything is okay.

Aww, thank you Mihani…I am crafty, Carla is truly an artist. I always have a bag of frozen fire roasted TJ’s red & green peppers and onions. I was not feeling it this am and had them sautéed plus cut little red potatoes we had steamed a few days ago. Glad you have the Covid tests on hand. I have old ones but they worked when we caught Covid during our winter cruise.

Susmannie - I love your self portrait. Would enjoy seeing more. Thank you for posting the recipe. How did the chili turn out? I need to look up bulgur and find out if it is wheat free.

I really hate MFP did away with the feed where we could cheer each other on. I feel like I have lost touch with peeps I have been in touch with for years.

I was listening to a PODCAST about weight loss and regain and. Why the keto diet, bariatric surgery and the weight loss drugs don’t work in the long run…only slow weight loss and permanent change of eating habits and way of buying, preparing and cooking foods plus a sustainable exercise. I wish the 30 day camp in San Diego Dr. Furhman has was not so expensive ( and allowed dogs).

Found out we need to leave our house on base the day after Brooks retires. That will be about 8 months from now and it will go quickly. I decided in July I am going to start packing everything we are not using. Not so much decorations but everything in closets and drawers.

Made a good fruit veggie and nut salad last night. Mixed spinach and spring lettuce, roasted beets, blueberries, pomegranate seeds, toasted walnuts and balsamic glaze with a squeeze of lemon. Tonight spinach, red onions, mushrooms and toasted pine nuts and walnuts with balsamic glaze and tiny bit of mustard with chickpea pasta and organic marinara sauce. Dog walks and spin bike today.

I am not thrilled with this card. Does anyone know how to decrease the size of pics?Making different ones later. 271bou0u3doa.jpeg

I thought I posted earlier but I must not have hit post by mistake so it's gone. I think that card is cute, Bisky! Your salad sounds really yummy.

I had a rough day and was very stressed out. I got home early because I had a doctor appointment but had to log in and finish something for work when I got home. Hadn't had time for lunch so I had a very early dinner and fell sleep at 5:00. Woke up at 8:30 and hope I can get back to sleep after a bit. Spending the whole weekend in the office again, but hoping that next weekend I can take it completely off. I need some time to get things done around here and recharge.

I like the card very much, Bisky, your sense of humor, and the size of the fish. And the trail of fish on the inside page. Perfect. But here is a site I’ve used to reduce image size:

    https://imageresizer.com

Went food shopping yesterday. We lean towards Lidl and Aldi, especially since food prices have risen. I spend most time in the produce department, anyway. I admire the food choices I see here. I still buy things like premade vegan meatballs, and make a lot of vegan comfort food copies of what we used to eat pre-vegan. Trying to slip in some more veggie, grain, and bean meals. I imagine my husband Jeff may react negatively to these, knowing his tastes.

Mihani - I hope you get through this weekend and have some nice time off for the fourth. I hope your healthy food place is helping.

Sus - I will look at the image sizer tomorrow. Thank you. I noticed you posted in recipes! 🙂
The first aquarium store loved my cards and will carry them. We made out yesterday selling them fish and snails. Later this afternoon going to another aquarium store that asks for our plants, plus fish and snails. Last night we ended up going out and I had vegetable fajitas…brought half the veggies home. Mixed it with potatoes and topped with avocados 🥑 for breakfast stir fry this am. Obi had his last “puppy/basic”class this am. He graduated and next month moves up to obedience class. Oh and we got a K9 backpack for Charlie Bear aka Mr. Muddy Paws for longer walks and hikes. Seahorse card I like much better.

Congrats to Obi! And OMG, Charlie Bear in the backpack is the cutest thing ever.

Sue, agreed on the grocery prices. I joined a wholesale club which has helped a lot with the budget. Stay all stocked up on household items and frozen fruit and veggies, and I go once a month or so to re-stock and pick up some fresh veggies and fruit because they are substantially cheaper.

Got up on time this morning thankfully. I want to get to the office earlier today and be home in time to do laundry so I have clean clothes for the week.

I am planning to take off early Wednesday. Want to be well out of downtown by mid-afternoon because the big fireworks 4th celebration is held and traffic gets nuts. We're not actually "downtown" but adjacent. Going to visit with family on the way home Wednesday.

Got cauliflower last night and threw some in the microwave steamer. Crumbled up in corn tortillas with lettuce and salsa. So good! A new favorite.

    Good morning.

We went in a new direction on the Riverwalk and it was beautiful. It was on the South side. Stopped at a cute coffee place. I got a Topo Chico….sparkling water and Brooks…well I will post the pic. 😂

    The K9 backpack worked well.

Sunday evening Brooks made BipnBop with peppers, onions, cauliflower, 🥬 bok choy and rice and an egg ( Didn’t need this but Brooks put it in). I made a sauce with pure peanut butter and chili sauce as soy sauces have gluten and I don’t care for the not gluten ones. I love the crunchy rice. You make the rice..we make ours in a steamer, and while I is cooking you turn the oven up to 450*. We have special cast iron bowls for this. Heat the bowls, sauté veggies. Put only the rice in for 2 min. in hot oven…then add veggies and traditionally a raw egg that cooks in the bowl…I think you could add soft tofu instead and then whisk it immediately as the bowl is so hot the egg cooks and the rice gets crispy!

Our “Gucci” grocery store has a nut grinder for 3 types of nut butter: raw peanut butter, almonds and honey roasted peanut butters. Brooks is somewhat addicted to it and it is cheaper than buying natural peanut or almond butter. I take in little containers that hold about 2-4 tablespoons for him to take to work with apple slices. pql0fv5aim9s.jpeg

CB loved his pack as he was just starting to get hot and slowing down. The other 2 dogs walk much faster so we had a faster walk back. Brooks got an extra workout after that coffee drink carrying 20 lbs of fluff.
