@everyone ~ I echo Diane's 'THANKS' for the kind messages. This is truly a labor of love. The OAL Team has been operating with a 'small staff' that does many things. We have had some bumps along the way but appreciate the patience/understanding/friendship of all of our loyal 5% Community!!

    Fun Fact:
    VETERANS DAY
Veterans Day on November 11th honors military veterans who served in the United States Armed Forces. The federal holiday coincides with Armistice Day and Remembrance Day, which marks World War I. These observances reflect the end of significant hostilities at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month of 1918 when the Armistice with Germany took effect. Initially, the United States observed Armistice Day as well. However, it evolved into the current Veterans Day in 1954.

@Kurtize, So many gave their best. I saw a post on the local neighborhood post asking why the main street was closed down "WHAT IS GOING ON!!" I giggled, the parade of course!

NATIONAL CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL DAY
National Chicken Soup for the Soul Day celebrates who you are and how you get there. Take time to nurture your soul on November 12th.
    #ChickenSoupForTheSoulDay
A little chicken soup does a lot of good. It's warm and hearty. As we cup our hands around the bowl, the heat radiates into our bodies. The steam hits our face with a comforting aroma. Similar to what chicken soup does for our bodies, the regular nurturing of our souls benefits our health. Whether you pick up a book, meditate or go for a long walk, reflect on who you are and your achievements.

Did you know there are new features in MFP? Posts are not private and any MFP member can read your posts even if the group is private and they aren’t in that group. (They don't need to be your friend.)
Your community MFP profile needs to be set to private to avoid this new problem.
Mine is now set to private. I don’t know if this will change or not and I don’t know how it will affect friend requests.

@aalley5 - I just went to check out how private posts were by first going to a private group with discussions (still can't access without joining), then by looking at specific member profiles of people I am not MFP friends with. There were members where their activity page indicated they had discussions but showed nothing under activity or discussions. But I did try a more active member I am not friends with and I did see partial posts of private teams I am not a member of.

There were some limitations. Some comments just give the name of the thread but not the actual comment. If the comment is long, only part of it shows, and if you click on the comment to go to it, you are denied permission because you are not a member of that group. However, just going down the page reading what did show I learned a lot about her - her weight posts and Challenge points showed, the first couple questions of her team intro, where she was traveling and a few activities she was involved in.... This is very concerning for me. As a leader, I don't want a private profile as I need to be able to friend team members and sometimes folks interested in the 5% who are newbies and need to be able to see who I am. My days at MFP may be limited. This may be a deal breaker.

Edit: Actually, I just went to look at my own profile. If what I see on the screen is what other see, this IS a deal breaker. I really don't know if I will be continuing once this Challenge is complete. There is way too much personal info showing.

I see your profile as private.

@aalley5 - I had just made it private and I don't feel that is good for a team leader because others can't send us friend requests and that is necessary for the role I play on my team. The only possibility of me staying is if I can send requests to others and still connect that way for MFP Mail. But the problem with that is that when we get newbies and they get a friend request from me, they can't see who I am.

    Good Morning VIP friends:

I hope you are all doing well this morning. Yesterday Chloe was fixed and it has been a whole ordeal. I slept on the couch with her last night because Chloe cannot go up stairs and she was whining all night. Not in pain but because of her having to wear the donut around her neck if we are not with her to monitor her and make sure she is not chewing her stitches. This morning she is doing a little better. Not whining or anything. She even ate a little but of food. Last time she tried that she threw up. We will see if that is the case this time.

@Dianedoessmiles1 - I am ok. I took some time yesterday to prepare the house for when Chloe came home from surgery. She is doing well this morning. She ate a partial slice of turkey, and then laid down for a bit. I am trying to see if the food will stick.

Well I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday.

    Good morning!
Yesterday was a good day. We went for a good hike with the senior hiking group, walking the trails near a local lake. Weather is getting cool and it was windy due to the cold front that is coming in.
Today's plan is for another hike at a new place, then an ancestry webinar, and haircut.

    NATIONAL INDIAN PUDDING DAY
National Indian Pudding Day recognizes a cold-weather classic. On November 13th each year, serve up this traditional New England dessert that's sure to wow.
    #IndianPuddingDay
In the seventeenth century, English colonists brought hasty puddingto North America, transforming it. Although they initially made the pudding with wheat, due to a shortage of grain, the colonists eventually used cornmeal. Since the colonists had learned to cultivate maize (corn) from the indigenous peoples, the crop was readily available. The colonists derived the name for Indian pudding from their name for cornmeal - Indian meal. They also replaced the water with milk. For added flavor, cooks add either molasses or maple syrup. Other ingredients they added include cinnamon, ground ginger, butter, eggs, raisins, and nuts.

@Dianedoessmiles1 Went to swim this morning and I had to scrape the windows. Woo wee 28 degrees is so cold but it made the 80 degree pool feel like a sauna. I should have put on a jacket but thought my sweats was sufficient. If only there was more room in the locker room. It's like hmmm how to stay neat and tidy. Forsake the heavy jacket until its not an option.

@Lopeyp, Oh that sounds wonderful!! TY TY TY for sharing.
@Patti241, LOL I agree, it does make me Smile. At least you always know someone is very happy with it!! Two years ago when the wind chill hit -44 F in the early evening I WENT OUTSIDE!! I just HAD TO!! It was so neat!! I couldn't breathe easily at all (that made me laugh which isn't easy when you can't breathe) to this day I am so happy I did!
