Wishing everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!
Been traveling for the usual doctor appts for and now planning Thanksgiving! It’s been a full stressful few weeks which is why I’ve been awol.
Good reports from mom’s cardiologist annd nephrologist and dad’s urologist. Where! Thank you Lord.
@SherryRueter - you know you have someone here who understands the stress of caregiving! It’s soooo hard and it some times scares me that I can feel my chest tighten and breath hasten with all the day to
day, minute to minute duties - not even counting how you have play psychologist to all the other family members who have trouble dealing.
I did lose 8 pounds over the last 6 weeks! Finished CG iron series but combined it with the 10k steps daily and still did not have one cookie, chop, taste of ice cream - nothing. I was to continue to Thanksgiving but I don’t even crave my weakness - sweet potato pie. Yay!
Sherry - if you have any health questions you can always bounce them off me. Our mom’s health situations are different but may have some similarities.
Enjoy the holiday weekend!! 💕0 -

Great loss and self control around the toxic sugar CeeBee! I also praise Lord Jesus for the good reports from doctors for your parents.0 -
@justgirl81 Thank you! Isn’t it such a great feeling when the doctor is saying “this is such great news I’m not sure what to attribute it to” - BUT WE DO!!!!!!?! 🙏🙏🙏
Had my first sweets yesterday - sweet potato pie and egg nog. Just held my breath while I stepped on the scale - and a half-pound weight LOSS! 👏👏
It was nice to have but unlike other times, I’ve had enough for the holiday. No need to have again. Yay!!0 -

Reading "Brain Over Binge" by Kathryn Hansen.0 -
I'm sorry that its just been you @justgirl81 I just got back to work today. I use this thread and a few others to help keep me entertained while here. I have a "help desk" job and the queue is sometimes really slow. ANYWAY. I'll be popping in now and getting my updates.
1 -
"Brain over Binge" great book! I've been reading a few:
Tiny Habits. - BJ Frogg
Fast Like a Girl - Mindy Pelz
Just checked out "Always Hungry - David Ludwig
and
Real Food Heals - Seamus Mullen1 -
Okay - I did cardio this morning. My stomach has been aching for 3 days. I'm not sure if it was the change in foods (likely) or something else. I refuse to weigh myself right now. But I am tracking for December 1-24 and going to work on it being a calorie deficit.
Yesterday was SUCCESSFUL ... calorie deficit Nailed. FELT SO GOOD.
Food I enjoyed the most yesterday - 6 naked chicken wings. That was supper. It was delish. Who says you need a ton of other sides with your meal?!?!?
Balmy 32 degrees here - I'll take it.
Mom is okay, stable. I don't know... Its so hard to trust in Gods plan - that's not the right words... to Be still. I just want her to be back where she was a year ago, and not where she is health wise right now. But that isn't what Gods plan is. I know this is the last chapter of her story.... I'm so thankful God gave me all of the chapters He did, however this last chapter sucks. I have several online / texting friends that I lean on - as I don't have any girl friends ... well my daughter is for sure but - you know - girl friends that hang and all. and we have our church and bible study group.
Okay - I do have work I need to be doing. I hope this finds you doing well.
Have you decorated yet? I should have time on Saturday.

I almost missed your post. I"m just back from the trip. SO nice to be in my own bed. I'm so sore from the matress at mom in laws. AND not having my foam roller and all.
It is SOO Stressful. OMG. Yes, the daily and minute by min. duties. I can only imagine if I was the primary person in the household. GIIIIRL you are a saint.
NOTHINg?!?! 8# WOO HOO!!!! thats the way to do it! YAY! I hope you continue that lifestyle. A taste on the lips is all it takes to make it go to the HIPs.
I sure will @CeeBeeSlim Mom today has shingles. I'm hopeful that this is not a life threatening event. I wish I knew how to solve her edema .... but I guess even the best of heart doctors are still working on that one. They have her on Jardiance now. Seems hopeful, worth hoping for.
How did you lose 8# ? Did you track also? Pretty sure I'm up 5# but I'm not stepping on a scale.

@ceebeeslim = Good reports from mom’s cardiologist annd nephrologist and dad’s urologist. Where! Thank you Lord.
How heart warming! I'm so glad to hear this! Praise God.
Did I ever share the "wait for your 41?" or is it "My 41 is coming."?

@ceebeeslim
Mom update: Mom is getting an Iron infusion series to help raise her blood work. She is getting a shingles shot. I'm not sure if she should or shouldn't get a flu shot. OH and they cleared her to walk in her room without skilled nursing care.

I enjoyed "Tiny Habits" Sherry. I haven't read it in quite a while. I found "Atomic Habits" to be so helpful also. I enjoyed "The Power of Habit" as well.0 -
Ooooooo the Power of Habit. I'll check that out. Yes, Already read the Atomic Habits - Its been a while.0

Still no BM but, my tummy is feeling better. perhaps coffee will help.
Read thru the Kindle version of Always hungry - Skipped the 1st half of the book - mainly bc I already know that information... Standard American diet is crap. Got it. I've read all that literature a billion times.
This book wants more of the Protein + Fat approach along with whole veggies (non starch) and Fruit.
That's really close to how I eat normally. Just a little tweak and a reminder to myself that a lot of grains and "white" veggies (aka potatoes, etc) Do / can cause inflammation in the body.
Workout - Total body done!
Yesterdays food 100% on plan and under budget.
Interesting enough - not hungry ... so having some coffee.1 -

Wednesday - Chisel Agility (345)
Thursday - Hammer Strength (300)
Friday - Chisel Cardio + Lava Flow (Yoga/pilates thing) (311)
Not extremely hard, but also shoulder friendly and got my heart rate up. This series that I am trying is a Total body most days workout. My thought is this... I cannot, nor should not, do a CHEST only day, followed by a SHOULDER day, followed by a LEG day....etc. That much weight right now on my shoulder would be ...no bueno. HOWEVER. Total body, less impact.
Tummy feeling 100% better now that I am drinking my preferred liquids and having more of my preferred foods - what the heck is in restaurant foods and what is my mother in law cooking that disagrees with me so much? I have this issue EVERY single time I eat their food. The one vacation that I brought mainly my own foods and refused everything else - my stomach was FINE. I have to remember that I guess. Straying away from my preferred foods is not a great idea.
Last night we had a neighborhood holiday gathering. They served lasagne - (weird). Anywho... I did fab. I was ON POINT and only chose what I wanted and most of which was 1000% healthy. WIN WIN1 -
Glad to hear your tummy is feeling better @SherryRueter - and thanks for the “41” - never had read that! 🙏🏽🙏🏽
My niece has started working so I miss her and the help she provided. I tried to leave for 15 minutes yesterday to pick up mom’s meds and got an alert that her blood sugar was dropping. My Lordy - the chaos. Tried to call brothers - no answer. Did u turn to head back home. Dad calls - everyone is panicking. Won’t even finish the story - all ended well but it was disheartening to feel that I risk leaving her alone for a few minutes!!! Ugh!!!
For the 8lbs - I think it was the lack of processed sweets and 10k steps a day. Was also sticking to 1200 calories max. I just can’t go over - despite my activity level. Finished iron and doing the Girvan Christmas series.
Hope you are all warm. Cold her in NC but back to the 70s next week.0 -
