    @minstrelofsarcasm

    Weigh in day: Saturday

    PW: 200.0 lbs
    CW: 202.5 lbs

Hubby and I have been finishing up all the holiday food to get rid of it. We have one more set of grandchildren to get together with tomorrow for a brunch out.

Today I’m starting up with my paper habit tracker and back to recording all my food. I took Thursday and Friday off from dieting and tracking and I paid the price with a weight gain.

@BodyTalking @minstrelofsarcasm and @melaniedscott is there a way of getting all our peeps a bit more involved in chatting in this thread? Would be nice to get more conversations going and more supportive info for us all to share.

Hello to our new friends that joined us this month. Feel free to introduce yourselves.

How many people do we have active in this group this month @minstrelofsarcasm?

I have been feeling better finally, and I have been able to get workouts in three days so far. Today I am planning on doing a deep house clean. We are supposed to get a bunch of snow tomorrow and Monday, so I am doing things around the house to prepare.

    Where do you live @blessedgrandma5?

My husband and I are getting ready for the snow as well here in Virginia. We’re expected to get 4-7 inches of snow and possibly some ice. 3 years ago in January we had a huge snow/ice storm with lots of damage. A tree hit my car. Trees toppled and snapped in half. It was a mess. No power or cell service for several days. Hopefully this storm won’t be a repeat.

@blessedgrandma5 - Welcome back to Team Weight No More! It's great to have you with us again, haven't seen you in a bit. Has anything changed much for you, healthwise?

Currently, we have 18 people registered with the normal weight loss team, and 8 people on our Support Team. We may have lost a few of those people due to life changes and the new year, there's definitely a few people who have yet to weigh in this week so far.

As for being more chatty, I know Melanie and I have had a lot of life coming at us recently, so we have not been able to facilitate conversations as much as we'd like to. I can definitely get back to posting a question or two to get people talking, assuming I can remember and have the bandwidth.

Is there a specific kind of supportive info you'd like? I haven't seen a lot of health science questions in the thread, so I have not offered up information - I know some people are not a fan of unsolicited advice.

Well I walked for 2 days and then 2 days off, that was a bad choice but my hip was hurting. I was very lazy today. Tomorrow I plan on being a little more productive. I haven’t been eating much lately so that’s been helpful. I stepped on the scale today to peak and my weight went down from the other day so I’m hoping it will keep going. Maybe it has helped to be sick for a week

@minstrelofsarcasm in the intro for our group it lists @rachelrjh and @BodyTalking as our team motivators. In the 16 months I’ve been here I’ve not heard of Rachel. About a year or so ago back when @sydditt was part of our group, there used to be a lot more interaction within our group. @BodyTalking used to post motivational stuff and several of us including sydditt and BodyTalking used to post their own versions of a habit tracker. There was a lot more discussion about what exercises or activities people were partaking in. It seems like there used to be a lot more “chatting” that went on and a lot more comments that we’d leave for members of our group in support of their journey. It’s gotten quite a bit more quiet in recent months. I just thought it would be nice if we got back to how it was a while ago is all.

I totally understand that people have been busy, especially this time of year, but that added support and interaction was motivational.

I love that we still have the steps challenge that @melaniedscott runs. I just thought it would be helpful and more motivational if more members would chat here and interact with each other. I really, really do enjoy this group. Hopefully a few will take the time to read this and join in more chatter. 😀. I know that about a dozen of us have been here at least as long as I have and I’ve enjoyed liking their posts and have been trying to post supportive comments at times.

Ashley, you and Melanie have been of great help, please don’t misunderstand. You’re greatly appreciated.

I guess I just don’t want to feel alone in this weight loss journey.

    Cheers!

So, not such a great start of the year for me, I've had a cold and cough for over a week and a half so I haven't been out exercising as much and there is still a ridiculous amount of Christmas chocolates in my house. I am back in work tomorrow and will hopefully have sorted some kind of meal plan.
    2235e6la8azw.png

My new starting weight for 2025 is 181.7 lbs

I can work on that. My plan for this year is:
    - keep losing weight
    - start tracking my food again
    - keep up with the running because I am really enjoying it now
    - try to make a weekly training plan that works for me and include more weight training and yoga /stretches
    - find a way to have a healthy lunch (I work odd hours in a kitchen and lunch is the meal I struggle the most with as it is late when I get home and I usually just grab anything quick and make the wrong choices)
    - declutter the house of things the kids have outgrown or things I haven't used in years
    - learn to crochet

@nansbones7708 I like your poem, it really sounds like me this month

@daria0919 i am myself guilty of not interacting much the past little while, life got busy, but I think you are right and I would feel more accountable and get more of the group if I was sharing more too, so I will work on that, maybe take photos of my problematic lunches to share

@Emilienewme I’m retired so it should be easy for me to prepare good meals but I’m on my own most of the time and can’t be bothered to cook for one.
It’s a pain at first because I like something different every day but I’ve selected some meals I enjoy and cooked 4 of them each and frozen the ones I don’t use so I have go to things to eat. Mains and soups then when I’m running low I batch again.

I understand where you're coming from, things have absolutely gotten quiet around here and I miss how supportive some of the energy used to be on the team - we can try a couple things and see how we can bring it back! What are new years for, if not trying out something new?

As for Rachel, she left a while ago. I have no idea why she is still listed as a Motivator, I'll send a message to Lauren and have her adjust the opening post - good catch!

    Let's start right now:
What is one good habit you had last year that you intend to bring into 2025?

One thing I did do, and I will continue is to improve myself. I focused on my mental health and getting healthy emotionally. It has changed me in so many ways.

We live about 40 minutes from Richmond.

I have a favorite diet that I like and if I stick to it I can lose weight. I have to follow a schedule and record all my food and keep a habit tracker. I need daily accountability. I also cannot treat myself at all because even one little reward or treat sends me off plan and I then end up binging.

@blessedgrandma5 - What kind of tools have you been using to promote your mental and emotional health? I've dabbled a bit in meditation and journaling over the years, but have always struggled to stick with it.

@Emilienewme sorry to hear about your cold and cough. My husband had one start December 16th and 3 weeks later he’s still got some congestion and the cough.

Like the meme in the spoiler!

Your plan for 2025 sounds solid. Let me know if I can help support you in any way. I know we’re in the running group together - they’re a great bunch! Looking forward to seeing your running progress and weight loss progress as we move forward!

    A couple of things…
minstrelofsarcasm - how do you reply to a post?

    My good habit for 2025-
Start activity, by mid year, no less than 5 days a week.

    Successes-
Heyyy, so I happened to check the results for December, and I made #1 in % lost! That has never happened in all my years of tracking. Not to mention how well the team did overall! Can the moderators high five the team a little more on these achievements? I already live in a family with little to no support, that’s why I post here.

High point this week- recording a loss and posting early!

    Idea for Interaction-
How about posting recipes that have worked for us on occasion? Is there a way to post photos?
