Let Healthy Habits Bloom in June

Great job on the yoga @77tes the thing about books and even watching TV these days is that it is hard to find 'new' imaginative stuff. It seems like the women are all vapid with luscious curves and the men are heros etc and the plot lines are so predictable. I can start to watch or read something and then just stop because it is so dang trite.
******Purple Martin News Flash *********
Dang here we are starting the 2nd week already of June and everyone is already making plans for July 4th weekend here. I stood outside yesterday evening and watched my Purple Martins at dusk flying around feeding. There were SO many of them and they were so loud. I think at least 4 or 5 gourds have fledged and the babies squawk a lot. I did notice that altho they spun and whirled and flew over the colony for almost 30 minutes they did not stay the night. Only the parents with young still came in. So perhaps their first overnight trip is why they were so excited. Altho I did see some mites yesterday in the a few gourds most of the babies are healthy and I think it will be a successful season after the tragedy earlier in Feb with the FREEZING rain and such which killed 10 or so early arrivals.

@summerskier I love your purple martin newsflash! That is quite a colony . It sounds like tending the nests is part of your yard work.
I’m also not a fan of most new releases, books or movies. Fortunately, I enjoy rereading things I do like and rewatching old movies and TV series. Right now, my husband and I are watching Jeeves and Wooster at lunchtime and Leave It To Beaver in the evening. I love Victorian novels, and those Victorians wrote big long books, so I could probably be reading a new (to me) book for the rest of my life. 🤣3022 Days of Yoga🧘 🧘🧘🧘🧘🧘🧘
June 8 - Got my yoga routine done first thing this morning.

@77tes looks like yoga first thing is working for you. very nice! Will you keep doing this as part of your daily routine after this month also?
Today's gardening was mostly to put some solar crystal lights around. Most of mine are way old and the solar panels are dead so it will be a lot of fun to see the new ones this evening. I generally like to put them as markers for some of the tributes I have to long gone pets. But they are quite cheery. I had some fairy light strings but the squirrels seem to love to chew thru the cords.

13 hours is great @77tes .. and plenty enough.....i find work days easiest.. I do struggle much more on weekends as l hve more time to think about it...xo

@SummerSkier Your yard is looking great! My daughter has the same issue with the neighbors run away ivy, although the fench is short and my son-in-law cuts it back.
@77tes Way to go with your daily yoga practice. I’ve started jogging some during my daily walks and should include yoga to help loosen the hips. I stretch after my walks, but sometimes they still feel tight. My house guest leaves tomorrow so after they’re gone I’m going to add yoga to my morning routine, or at a minimum on the non strength training days.
1 -
@SummerSkier , I love those solar lights! I’m tempted to put in a few in my yard. How did they look after dark?Yes, I think first thing in the morning is where my yoga needs to be. Frankly, I often sit around in a stupor in the morning, so yoga is definitely a more productive way to start the day. Will I keep it up? I hope so!
@donna25trinity , maybe I’ll try fasting for my July goal.
@hcoleman232 , I don’t know why I struggle with doing the yoga. I always feel so much better after that stretch. Doing a routine after a run sounds like a great idea. House guests are great, but it’s definitely a relief when they leave (except for my sister).

June 9 - Got my yoga routine done this morning after the dust settled.

So the solar lights look great. I need to go turn on 2 of them which I put in the backyard and the on/off switch is not exactly clear but the others are so cheerful. I went out last evening around 9 and was surprised to see a really beautiful moon when I was checking on the lights. And fire flies. So it was just really pleasant to stand out there chatting with my neighbor and all the soft lights around under a bright moon.
I am still struggling with how to keep the grass and weeds from coming back in the areas they are not supposed to and I know that I should put some plastic matting over I guess but that's a big chore for me and the front already has some which I guess after 30 yrs is full of holes. LOL.
Got my thyroid ultrasound yesterday and was surprised at the very low amount of folks in the place. My tech was good this year and did not press too hard. One year I had a gal who I thought was going to choke me out she was pressing so hard….. Next up Endo appt on Wed and then first visit with new dentist coming up. It sounds silly but I actually have to make a list of these things which I want to get done for the month and check them off. For July for instance I have "get truck inspected/oil change for registration" and annual Dr visit and Rx refill. Sometimes I think I am not a normal person because so many folks do all that as a after thought whereas to me scheduling it all is like an accomplishment.
1 -
@SummerSkier , Your yard after dark sounds magical! No fireflies here in Southern California (except in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland). Your scheduling is great. I don’t know of anyone who gets things done without planning and scheduling. Hope all goes well with the new dentist and endo appointment.

June 10 - I did my yoga first thing, hiding because my puppy wouldn’t be able to ignore the tennis ball I was using as a prop. 🎾 🐶
2 -
I am enjoying the puppy antics. My cat also enjoys tennis balls. And shoes. And my hair when I am trying to do my breath exercises on the floor.
More rain today I think but the garden lights are all working now after I risked the mesquitos yesterday morning. ONly 1 bite I think but boy is it itchy. I am spraying icy hot on it to help. LOL

@SummerSkier , Your kitty sounds very helpful, like Lucy. I hate mosquitoes 🦟! I recommend This gadget: Amazon.com: BUG BITE THING Suction Tool - Bug Bites and Bee/Wasp Stings, Natural Insect Bite Relief, Chemical Free - White/Single : Health & Household Ever since the Tiger mosquitoes arrived in my neighborhood, being in a drought isn’t enough to keep their numbers down. Our dance classes on Friday night are usually a feast for those pesky bugs! 😡

June 11 - I had to do a little household repair this morning before yoga (in the playroom we have puzzle fitness squares to cover a floor that needs to be replaced). So while my daughter was out walking the puppy, I added another square, trimming it to fit. Then, however, I got my yoga done.
In other news, inspired by @donna25trinity , I fasted 14 hours by just not eating after dinner and pushing back my breakfast. It went fine , but it helped that my husband went to bed early and I’m in the honeymoon phase of a new thing.

Good on u for getting yoga done in morning @77tes.. great job... My motto with workouts is if I don't do it I'n the morning it just doesn't get done. I do wfh though with hubby so sometimes if our schedules aglin we can go on a bonus lunch time walk together.. I admire ppl that do yoga I've tried b4 and don't have the patience for it. He he!!! So good for u though! So great about the fasting! 14 hours is incredible!!!! Well done!!! How did u feel, during and after?? Also I drink 2 black coffees and lots of Peppermint tea during my fast.. this really helps me get through it and does not break my fast!
I wld love to hear your guys thoughts on weighing urself.. how frequently do u do it? I got on the scale with morning and it was higher than I like esp seeing I've been really trying hard over last 11 days. I have an app to track my weight but cos I didn't like the number I didn't track it today lol...I weigh myself roughly once a week.
My weight has slightly fluctuated over the last year, 1 kg up 1 kg down.. .
The fluctuations annoy me but i really want to track and monitor progress though..i also want to see it start coming down.. thinking to do daily weigh ins that way i can just look at weekly average? open to any thoughts or suggestions. Xo

We put black weed barrier fabric under the dirt in the garden and then put fresh dirt on top I swear it goes away the dirt with the snow each winter a never ending battle. We have some Edison lights outside and some solar peaceful
sorry you can’t see the garden maybe I can find a pic.

what a wonderful place @snowshoe072 ! The weed barrier thing. yup. Anyway, we are getting good rain which is awesome for the bugs and purple martins and keeping it cooler here but the grass loves it too. esp in the places it should not be.
Thanks for the recommendation on the bug bite gadget. I am going to have to look that up!
So I spent a lot of time on the phone yesterday with my credit card company and apple trying to work thru an issue and lord if that was not just such a waste of time. Apparently a few weeks ago duo lingo got me with a errant click and tried to charge me $111 for a year of super. If you have ever used that app you know they give you a week free or have a lot of "things" on it on the free version. ANyway, I noticed the charge and tried to get it taken off but because I have a legacy Apple userid and an email one I could not get the system to dispute it. So I asked my credit card company to dispute that charge. And from there everything blew up. Altho I got my 111 back I am not sure it was worth the hassle. I even tried to sign up for a debit card with WF which I have a small account with and they declined me!!! ROTFLOL maybe because my balance is small or I have my credit on reserve who knows. Anyway, basically I ended up having to renew my ebay account but then that got rejected also. I decided after a few hours of this "stuff" that the gods where agin me and it would be better to just wait a few days and see if it all sorted itself out. Give it a week and start the phone calls all over.

@donna25trinity , I agree about first thing in the morning being the time to get things done. I used to do my yoga after dinner, but since we got the puppy, that time is given over to dealing with the pup followed by totally collapse. 🤣 I felt pretty good with the fasting. I was a little headachy, after I started eating, not while fasting and I had a couple episodes of hiccups. The headaches may have been from pushing my BP meds later. I suppose I should take it early with a sip of water. Today, I went 15.5 hours (mostly because breakfast got pushed late). I did take some Tylenol when I started getting a headache, but so far no hiccups. I definitely drink all the black coffee and tea.
@snowshoe072, your yard is beautiful, truly an elegant outdoor room. We are losing so much dirt with the puppy digging, so our backyard looks like a battlefield.@SummerSkier , oh, so sorry that you are dealing with all that stuff. I hate when apps try to trick users to upgrade while taking away things previously included (looking at you MFP). What are you studying on Duolingo? I’m studying French, my sister is learning Spanish, and my granddaughter was doing Italian before her trip to Italy.

Believe it or not that portion of the yard was once a big pool how I miss it it but the privacy and quiet of the wind chimes make it peaceful here’s a pic of this mornings guest ….
Needless to say Koda had to wait before our bathroom walk we call the rabbit “Roger” there seem to be many this year of all sizes.
A good walk at lunch a nice breeze.2 -

“My weight has slightly fluctuated over the last year, 1 kg up 1 kg down.. .“
That sounds like maintenance to me 😂.
Remember that it is normal for our weight to fluctuate within a range for no apparent reason.0 -
Yep ur right, plus over the last year i havent tracked calories, so hoping now im back to counting calories I can loose that last 3 kgs @TerriRichardson112....
Good luck with ur goals btw xox

77tes Know wat u mean about collapsing of an evening..i struggle to keep my eyes open past 8pm. Lol. Cause i get uo really early in morning....Sounds Like ur doing great...interesting about the headaches & hiccups.. keep me posted with how ur tracking... .. love hearing all about it.....
Wen I think about down falls of fasting it prob wld be i find it the hardest to do on w/e i still do it but some days it's hard..... i also definitely eat my food too fast wen i do break my fast, so that is something i need to work on.. but in saying that I hve always eaten very fast even wen not fasting...benifits of fasting is easy to stay in calorie limit, wen I go eat the meal tastes so good cos I'm actually hungry, I get less bloating and less tummy pain and night... xo

So the rain has helped the weeds to WIN again. sigh. But it does make for some wonderful crepe myrtle blooms and weed blooms. LOL. I seriously cannot fast. And to answer Donna your question I weigh daily only when I am wanting to lose. Then I do it all as closely as possible. When I am not actively trying to lose I might weight once a week or less depending on how active I am being.

Missed a day closing all 3 rings. I was disappointed at first, but life happens and things come up. 🤷♀️

Proof that I actually went dancing: I’m in the mask at the far right edge of the photo.
@TerriRichardson112 , You are a superstar! You are just running with that 5-2-1-0 challenge. I’m not ready to limit my recreational screen time right now.@donna25trinity , the hiccups was just the first day, and I think I was eating too fast. I’ve been trying to slow down (something I need to do when I eat, fasting or not). I’m not feeling especially hungry or lacking energy - it’s surprising!
@snowshoe072 , I love the bunny visitor.
@SummerSkier , that’s the problem with rain, the weeds like it even better than the plants you want in your yard. I love Crepe Myrtle! Some people can’t fast, so there’s no shame in not doing it. I’m just trying to help my slow losing plan to get back to a good maintenance number. My ever slim husband can’t fast. If he doesn’t get breakfast, I need to put the food on a long stick and push it through the bars of his cage. 🤣🦁
@hcoleman232 , Look at all those closed rings! Wonderful! 👏 Yes, life does happen, and all or nothing thinking is to be avoided.

June 13 - Didn’t get to yoga quite early enough this morning because puppy romped in after her walk, and I had to save my shoes from running off into the backyard. 🐶+👟= 🦶 14.5 hour fast.
June 14 - Very tired this morning after a late night of dancing. But, knowing it would be a very busy day, I got right to my yoga. I’m very proud of myself that I managed to not eat any snacks at dancing (no homemade goodies, so not too hard 😉) 14 hours fasting.
