@SummerSkier , it’s good that you’re resting that injured foot. Sometimes the best activity is keeping the weight off an injury. I hope it’s soon better.

June 17 - Puppy got me up, so I had plenty of time for my yoga before heading to the park to meet the Curves ladies. Only 12 hours for my fast because I didn’t want to push it to 16 on a busy day, and that’s what it would be if I set out without breakfast.

@donna25trinity , Good going on those goals! 👏 I hear you about off days. I’m retired, so my rest day is when I struggle. Saving same wiggle room for off days is wise. I don’t want my rest day to be a day of privation.
I was surprised how much I like chia seeds! I just add them to my oatmeal. They are also good in cottage cheese with sunflower seeds. I also like flaxseed meal - I add to yogurt and oatmeal.

June 18 - I was dragging this morning, so my yoga was late, and that means my bike riding was getting pretty late. I’m hoping to get to 14 hours fasting, but I ate last at 8:30pm, so breakfast has to wait until 10:30.
1 -
Yeah I love chia seeds too. Oats and chia seeds had always just worked for me too digestion wise. Only thing that works for me! Oh cottage seeds and chia does sound great! I'll give that a go... yep ur right def need to keep a close eye on how we spend our spare time, can't be a reason to forget all the healthy habits right! Xo
1 -
Chia seeds remind me of poppy seeds in texture but I haven't used them in years but I did add to my oatmeal also! Yall are doing great! Yesterday my gardening was to ask my lawn guy to please weedeat where the grass is coming in on the flower (nothing there) bed. I don't know why if he is doing my yard that certain places are not on the plan unless I ask.. LOL. Anyway all done.
Still here. Still kicking. Dentist tomorrow.
2 -
@SummerSkier , smart way to get the gardening done - ask the guy you’re paying to care for your yard. My gardener is also ”weed blind.” I swear he looks at the weeds and thinks “at least these plants are thriving.” 🤣
Glad you’re still kicking, but mind that injured foot.
@donna25trinity , I just got a book about intermittent fasting and they said no snacking. WHAT? Is that how you do it? I figure if I’m in my eating window, I can eat. I just moved my evening snacks to the afternoon.

June 19 - I got right to it since I’m heading out for a doctor appointment for my husband. Hit 14 hours of fasting which left me no time for breakfast, so I grabbed a Kind bar - wow did it taste good.
1 -
so far no heavy rain or storms. thunderstorm watches until 9 tonight sun and high humidity.
Koda and I went for a short walk before the rain that really never came this morning but managed well over 30 minutes with the electric guitar2 -
Haha… @77tes you are doing great with your fasting. I think to me if I could just STOP eating after a certain time I would call it a win. And not only are there weed blind gardeners but then there are the ones who are flower blind and mow over bluebonnets and what are obviously flowers… sigh. If I had the ability to do my own yard in a reasonable amount of time I would.🙃
Hoping the weather behaves for your event @snowshoe072 🙏
hard to type this morning as there are sharp things attacking my fingers.
2 -
@snowshoe072 , wishing you good weather for race.
@SummerSkier , Hahaha ! Be careful of those sharp things. My gardener thinks that that if there are flowers on my hibiscus, it’s clearly time to cot it back to bare sticks. I hope that dentist appointment went well.

June 20- Today is my daughter’s birthday, and the whole day is giving over to celebrating her. However, I was able get my yoga practice completed before she got up. My calories are going to be through the roof, but I did fast 14.5 hours before the eating commenced with my husband’s famous waffles.
2 -
HI there @77tes hope u had a beautiful day for ur daughters bday..
ppl do different types of fasting. I vary wat I do..what I do try to aim for is long fasts and short feeding windows, easier said than done though. He he!
Sometimes I just hve omad at dinner so my feeding window will be really short but ill eat a big meal so i get all my calories in... this is my preferred way to eat, i do it often but its not always easy to do daily.
other times I'll hve my omad which is dinner followed by a snack or dessert 2_3 of hours later... I do this pretty regularly, and really i enjoy it. It's my happy medium!
Then there are rare times that ill do a short fast so I'll eat a very late lunch followed by dinner and dessert or a snack so eating window is much long...I limited this eating to say once a fortnight/ once a month...
I got a free fasting app at the start of this month so it's been cool to track and monitor my fasts and feeding windows more closely Xo
77tes I say just do what feels good and right for u! Alot of ppl reduce carbs when fasting. I can't do that, I love them too much... lol... do u limit carbs? Xo

Only 2 days this week closing all 3 rings. 🤷♀️

still here. Still trying to keep up with the outside. still have sharp claws. So my new dentist was a bust. sigh. I had scheduled for 8:30 but they called me a few days before and rescheduled me to 12:30 which was ok. Then they called me a few hrs before my appt to say that my xrays would not be covered because I had them done last in July so there would be xtra charge 40 unless I got my old ones transferred. Unfortunately my old dentist is closed on Fridays so that could not happen. I should have rescheduled at that point but thought 40 was not the end of the world.
Anyway, when I got there I got a sort of strange vibe about the place. not sure why. I went back in and the tech came and did a ton of xrays and it took almost 30 minutes. Then the hygienist finally came in and it turns out she was not the regular one but a temp. hmmm. She spent 30 minutes looking at things and then said she wanted to do a deep clean but wanted to talk to the dentist first and I said, hey, I just want a reg cleaning but she left. So I was there an hour and had gotten 0 done. She was gone for a while and after about 10 minutes when I had been there over an hour with a REALLY BAD FEELING I got up and left. I have never done that in the middle of an appt, but I had strange alarms going off in my head about things. too many NQR stuff going on.

Awesome clear day for the Whiskey Run but too hot stay and taste whiskey ! Unofficial results I took time off from last year I am pleased will see what next year brings ! My sister and I she really beat me! Whiteface with no snow
2 -
Looks amazing! So glad the weather was good and too bad about too hot to stay tho, LOL.
@77tes hope the birthday celebration on Friday went well.
I took a day off yesterday from cardio activity at all to let my foot rest. I keep debating whether to try things or just not but today I plan a short mental run for my brain if not my body.
Donna you are doing AMAZING this month. So glad you are here - so supportive and cheerful.
@hcoleman232 I always close my rings even if i have to put my watch on other for 30 minutes while I do situps stretching pushups etc… Sometimes when I walk it gives me zero exercise minutes so I know that altho walking is good for me it is not really cardio. I was encouraged yesterday that I could do some situps after about 2 weeks of my lower back hurting from tripping. (yeah I hurt my foot one week and the next week I had a small fall in the house which bunged me up more when it rains it pours).

@SummerSkier I use Outdoor Walk for my 30 minute cardio to close my exercise ring and then choose other trackers close to whatever workout I’m doing. Does it not register as exercise for you since you run? I’ve never had a walk not register, unless I forget to track the workout. Good to hear you’re on the mend! Oh, and what an ordeal with the dentist visit; I would have left too.
@snowshoe072 What a gorgeous day for the Whiskey Run! Congratulations!! Well done! 👏🏻👏🏻
1 -
Yes @hcoleman232 it is true. Even when I set my exercise up as outdoor walk I can go over a mile or over 30 minutes and get 0 exercise minutes. I think my HR just does not get up high enough when walking. 🤷♀️ So sometimes I just set it to other and that forces the exercise minutes.
Happy Sunday everyone!

The birthday was lovely. Rainbow Connection was the theme. Unfortunately, my daughter was feeling pretty bad (she’s battling cancer), so we just watched the original Muppet Movie and also a video of my granddaughter at three years old (she’s in college now) in a dance recital, dancing to “The Rainbow Connection.” It was all sweet and nice, and the birthday girl was able to eat a little of her treats. The pound cake I made for strawberry shortcake, was my best and my husband’s waffles were also great.
@snowshoe072 , bravo for cutting time from last year. I love that you do this run with your sister. I’m so glad the weather was okay for the run even if not for whiskey tasting. Beautiful pictures! So cool that you run with your sister.
@donna25trinity , oh my! I have no plans of only eating only one meal! I do limit carbs, but not for my daughter’s birthday. Two of my daughters tried IF with very low carbs during 2020, but I must say that they were pretty HANGRY before that first meal. 🤣. I don’t think the world is ready for me in that start. Besides, I’ve actually been raising my cabs to include more plant-based foods and increase fiber.
@hcoleman232 , my week has been similar to yours, activity wise. I’m getting to yoga, but little else. Even my strength workouts were abbreviated. Still it’s greater than zero. I’ll bet life got in the way of getting your rings closed every day. Celebrate those 2 days a little extra because you craved them out of a difficult weed.
@SummerSkier , that’s one weird dentist appointment! Clearly, something was not working with that office. What’s a mental run? When I broke my ankle a couple years ago, I found a slew of chair workout are you doing something like that for cardio? I loved my PT post injury, I was stronger after PT than before the break.
@TerriRichardson112 , Great job on the 5-2-1-0 challenge! You are a champion! 🏆Zero treats is a hard one.308 Days of Yoga🧘 🧘🧘🧘🧘🧘🧘

June 21 - Got it done this morning. I’ve committed myself to do yoga in July, thanks to another challenge group, so hopefully that will nail down this habit after two months in a row.
June 22 - Yoga done. One of the worst things about doing my yoga on the floor is that I notice how much I need to dust and vacuum. 🤣

@77tes nice to hear that ur daughters bday went well. So sad she's not well. My heart went out to her reading that.
Good on u for reducing carbs, this is something I dnt think I cld ever do.. plant based and more fibre sounds like a great idea, I've dabbled in plant base a few years ago, felt really good doing it.
Good work in the whiskey run @snowshoe072. Great u beat last years time...
I survived my 4 day weekend food wise with only 1 pass day. I feel so refreshed taking that time off work, such an amazing time with .y lil boy...Just wat I needed! My plan this week is to focus on my dumbell training and eating less calories Monday to Thursday to allow for a bit more indulging Friday to Sunday. I've crunched my numbers and worked out my weekly calories so hoping this plan will allow me to feel as though I'm still indulging but will mean I'll still be at a calorie deficit over the course of the week. Xo

@SummerSkier Loved ur dentist story. I admire how brave u were walking out and I dnt blame u. Very weird experience!

I always get books for my Lil one from the library and we spend alot of our time reading together, I love it....but this time you all inspired me to get a couple of books for myself.... getting back on mfp daily was my first step to being less one track minded about my career, thought getting back into reading might be good too. Between work and my sweet Lil boy who my world revolves around I'll need to squeeze I'n some reading time in there somewhere. Xo
1 -
Donna, I use audio books and listen while I run or walk. I found that as a child I used to binge and read so this is new for me to use reading or listening for working out vs couch potato ….
@77tes I am glad the celebration went well even if your daughter was not really up to it. Hopefully the chemo will work and she will be able to celebrate with everyone next year. Good for you getting your yoga in inspite of being so busy!
Well brave on the dentist front I guess but now I need to schedule a cleaning with my previous dentist so I don't go too long without. Hopefully they did not charge me for the cleaning or dr visit just the xrays but I would not put it past them. I don't want to fight with insurance and such tho.
yesterday was trim the wisteria day … Ok who am I kidding. EVERY day is trim the wisteria. I swear that thing would take over the house the yard the trees if I let it go more than a day. How do those runners grow FEET overnight? And just because it is funny I put out a cat trap yesterday and it worked. this is my other older cal not the keyboard attacker.
1 -
@donna25trinity , I love that you spend time reading with your Lil one! That’s been of big part of our lives. Great idea to use the library! When I was teaching elementary, I used to get a huge pile of books for my classroom, so I’ve come to have an abiding love for children’s literature. I’m getting more into using the library for borrowing print books for myself as well as ebooks and audiobooks on library apps.
It sounds like you have a great plan for the week!
@SummerSkier , you brought up an interesting point about reading being a couch potato activity. When I really got into reading, I did indeed spend more time sitting/reclining than I had before.
Hmm, how did you set that cat trap? I thought those were generally a laundry basket with clean clothes. 🤣
I love 😍 wisteria! Of course, I’ve never had any in my yard. It sounds like that’s one of those plants that are best appreciated in the neighbor’s yard across the street. Like Morning Glory, Jacarandas, or Mimosas.

WOW! Only one week of daily yoga practice left to claim my prize 🏆 (big invisible participation trophy) yay 🙌👏🙌
June 23 - Puppy kept me up until almost midnight last night and got up at the crack of dawn, so I went back to bed. Still, I did my yoga first thing when I got up the second time. Fasted over 16 hours (I got busy doing housework while my daughters were out).

Audio books are such a good idea, do u know of any free apps for audio reading @77tes and @SummerSkier
What a gorgeous cat @SummerSkier. I am cat obsessed. My cat is our Lil baby!!! He's scared of my son but he's getting a little less scared. Xo

16 hours fasting with limited sleep is a huge deal well dome @77tes xo
1 -
still here. Not much in the yard yesterday but did limp thru some tennis which felt good after so many weeks of low activity.
I use audible but it's not free Donna.
@77tes I am still laughing at your comment about 1 week left and you will claim your prize. It's funny how our "rewards" change in our minds over time. When I was a teen and first started dieting I used to lay out all my clothes - tops and bottoms - and my rewards for sticking to a stupid plan were to wear certain ones at certain weights. I wonder if kids still play those stupid diet games?
1 -
@donna25trinity , I have the Libby app and the Hoopla app through my library, so they are free. There are others like OverDrive, but Libby and Hoopla are my favorites. I actually have library cards from 2 different cites. Los Angeles Public Library has access to a huge collection, but the small suburb of Santa Clarita has shorter wait times.
@SummerSkier , oh I feel for your younger self. I put myself through so many horrible diets and, yeah, my rewards weresilly and not helpful. And for the most part, I didn’t need to diet when I started. Unfortunately, the diet games are even worse now. So harmful.
You’re pretty hardcore if limping through tennis counts as resting your foot.

June 24- Got my yoga done. I was brave (or was it poorly prepared) and didn’t eat before I left for my meet up with the Curves Ladies, so I extended my fast to 17 hours. But as soon as I walked in the house at noon I was an eating machine. I’m pretty excited that I didn’t feel weak or floppy.
