Kate, OMG, the house sounds amazing...I've not been to Baltimore but it sounds amazing. I feel like I am still recovering from the Chicago trip as well. Getting old sucks - at least, you bounce back quickly.

We put Shelby girl down today which was quite peaceful. So, so, peaceful.

My kids were all there which was nice. I asked when it's my turn, if they're all going to show up. I bought beef bones from the butcher yesterday and a big Thanksgiving dinner today with an apple Toaster Strudel as a send off. She's always had a sweet tooth.

Tuesday, thought about it - but, just tired emotionally & physically.

Kim - So sorry of the loss of your Shelby. Those are such hard decisions but knowing they are at peace and not suffering is a weight lifted. It was nice that the kids were there too, i am sure it helped comfort her and one another. I am going to have a drink in her honor tonight :flowerforyou:

Sounds like the lushes are on the move and making time for lots of activity and exercise... even it it is in the form of lifting a glass/bottle to one's lips. It all counts!

    TTFN...

    Kim.....:brokenheart:
when we put down our Gizmo..who was 20 years old and my 1st baby...I made the husband handle it....I just couldn't. Preston and I said our goodbyes at home and I remember standing in the garage watching Jeff drive off with him and just sobbing.
it's the right thing to do but soooo very hard.

Kim, so sorry about your Shelby! You loved her and took care of her...remember the good times!!!

Last night I had 2 apple pie vodkas with apple cider...awesomeness!!!
Not sure about tonight. I am still on the lazy train and slept in missing my workout this morning. Gonna do yoga or go for a walk tonight....if I walk I get a drink if I do yoga then probably nothing. Pro of the walk=booze, Pro of yoga=strength??!!!

Kim, I'm so sorry about Shelby. That just breaks my heart, it is never, ever easy putting down a beloved pet. My thoughts are with you!

Kate, apple pie vodka?! WHAT?!? That sounds amazing! I had some ginger ale & whiskey (1 drink) on Monday night, but nothing since.

Tonight I plan on going to the Y after eating dinner at my Dad's house & then home to watch American Horror Story. Does anyone else on this thread watch that & if you do, what do you think??

    Happy Hump Day Lushes!!!

:drinker: :drinker: TO SHELBY :drinker: :drinker: She did like a nice sip of whiskey every now and then out of hubs glass.

Thank you for all of the well wishes  I wish we could put people down in the last stages of dying like our pets. I'm not talking about the soon to dye but the ones in the active stages. It's so hard for people to sit and wait for the event. But, alas, it was more important to legalize marijuana. Oregon has is the place to be for that if you're ever in the situation.

I couldn't help but go on craigslist and look for some French Bulldogs. One dog is just not enough .I placed a call to someone already. I prefer to have an older dog vs. a puppy because I am not "into" training another at this point. I am going to stay away from the working class breeds because we do not have a fenced yard and I am getting too old to be doing the 5 miles a day they require. Thankfully the border collie likes the frisbee. I want a couch potato dog.

Anyways, Ron wanted to go for drinks yesterday but I just couldn't. Tonight, I will probably also have a zero.

What I really need to do is start exercising.

Kim in Wa State we have both the "Right to Die" AND recreational marijuana! Although the latter has not been implemented yet. I agree whole heartedly with you that in end of life issues we appear to be more compassionate to our pets than our loved ones.

As for Frenchies, we have had our brindle Frenchie "Fiona" for about eight years. Full of personality, makes the strangest noises, great dog. Have included a pic!

OMG....I love that dog...my husband makes weird noises too so I am OK with that.

Thanks for the info on the breed and state. I was unaware of the Right to Die in Washington but they just sweetened the deal with the dope.

Well, I already put a call out to someone re-homing :blushing: I don't really want a puppy - even tho, puppy breath and teeth are adorable. I am hoping to give a good home to someone who really needs it.

OK - off to go teach bible class which honestly I suck at...and, don't look forward to doing tonight.

Happy Halloween Lushes - Where's the party? Or, have you already gone. Or, is it just cocktails at home?

For us, throwing candy at the kids and a few cocktails!!

so cute, gary. do they have a lot of health issues? I've always loved that breed

Not sure on the health issues of the Frenchies. Ours has chrohns disease so we have to watch what we feed her. I would have to google it to see just what health issues come with the breed.

We have had several breeds of dogs, dalmation, lab mix, pug, and the French bulldog. By far the bulldog is the most entertaining. Check youtube out for hilarious videos of French bulldogs.

I think the main thing on the FBD is the hips from what I have seen on the websites. One breeder X-rays the hips before selling so that you don't have future problems.

Thing is, I would rather rescue since I just want it to lay on the couch with me vs. an official show dog. I don't want to pay the breeder's prices - but, if that means you don't have future problems then it might be worth it. I guess the average litter is 3 with a C-section delivery and insemination means ^^^ $$$$

Thursday, maybe - I haven't been in the mood. I think that Chicago trip was so obnoxious with alcohol that I have finally burnt myself out.

Ive always loved the breed and thought Id get one if we ever decided to commit to a dog. We travel an awful lot tho...so I've held off....plus we'd have to wait for the bipolar cat to kick off. No way would she allow a dog in the house lol. The poor kitten gets her *kitten* kicked every day..thank god she's quicker than the old b!tch.

Fiona is adorable!!!! I know nothing about dogs!!!

Last night I had two apple pie vodkas and apple cider! The apple pie vodka we bought was made by Pearl and on sale and isn't bad as a shot either

We usually don't stick around the house for halloween, we did for the first few years but honestly could care less. So we leave out the candy and hit the road! Tonight we are going to happy hour then movie tavern to see Carrie. There will be beer and wine in my future!!!

    Happy Halloween!!

Yes we watch Coven....I'm enjoying it!!! We haven't seen this weeks but I do like it. The first AHS was the best, the second started out promising but got a little carried away!!!

We watch Coven too. I can't decide if I like this season or last better. We did not watch Season 1. I love the show regardless.

I love Frenchies! They're so cute. That may be our next dog too. However most likely we'll just adopt a smallish one from the Humane Society. But we have enjoyed being dogless the last 1.5 years. Once Daphne wants a dog though, I'll be happy to have one around again.

    Mon - 0
    Tues - a 312
Wed - 2 glasses of tempranillo I was not crazy about. Pint of Sam Oktoberfest and 1/2 pint of Angry Orchard. We went to this jack-o-lantern spectacular at a park. There were thousands of jack-o-lanterns throughout the park. So cool.

Tonight we had planned on trick or treating with our daughter, but there's 100% chance of rain, so we may just put her in her costume and hand out candy. I'm sure we'll drink too.

BTW, not sure if any of you are friends with Chloe, but she had her baby boy last week. Hopefully we'll see her back soon! :drinker:

    Happy Samhain all,

This witch has been good and bad. I had a couple of zeros this week and a couple of not zeros:wink: No drink tonight because I have a ritual to perform. but tomorrow is celebration time and I may indulge.

I hate the scale and the fact that I just can't seem to get it going at home. Work is great but then I am in such a rut at home.

Kim, I am so sorry about Shelby. It hurts even when you know it is right. And yes you must get another dog. One is not enough.

Kat too bad about no pictures of the costume.

Kate sounds like you have been busy.

Syd I love your new profile pic.

Gary I love our state. I think we are so cool.

Keep on Lushing my dear lushes.

Look for a new thread tomorrow.

I was just wondering about Chloe the other day...congrats!

Happy Halloween lushes...I can't wait to get this damn candy out of the house! I don't even like it that much but I keep munching on it!
Red wine this week. 2 glasses. exercise has been good.
    Bring on November!

Syd - you are so funny with the cats!! It does pay to be fast...

Robin, I'm kind of rutt-ish too - my theory is the first day is the hardest so just make up your mind and do it. It was how I felt when we puts Shelbers down. The decision is the hardest part. If it helps, I could join you in whatever would help and we could hold each other accountable.

Kate, I LOVE Carrie - I had the biggest crush on J. Travolta in my 12-year-old state of adornment

CONGRATULATIONS TO CHOLE!!! WELCOME BABY BOY!!

Take care lushes - I am actually going to start tracking food again....

The best friend also known as my horror movie soul mate and I just saw Carrie on Tuesday. I won't mention anything because I hate when people give stuff away, I like to make my own mind up and not listen to critics/people.

    Well it is my favorite day of the year despite it being the last day of my favorite month. I am spending it watching AMC Fear Fest, eating candy, sipping sparkling cider and snuggling with the fur babes since husband isn't home. It also happens to mark the 10 year anniversary of husband and I being together but that always gets pushed to the side for my beloved Halloween <|=}

Hope everyone has a spooky day

I haven't watched last nights episode of AHS: Coven yet, but I plan to tonight, in honor of Halloween:bigsmile:

I tried watching the past 2 seasons, but they freaked me out too much...I might try to re-watch them on Netflix during the middle of the day or something, but I thought they were pretty freaky!

Hope that everyone has a wonderful Halloween & enjoys lots of candy & drinks

I can't believe tomorrow is already NOVEMBER 1st! Where has this year gone?!

See, amazingly enough watching Walking Dead at night doesn't really scare me, but AHS really gets into my mind & then I dream craziness, so I avoid that and usually watch it Saturday mornings. LOL. But I'm going to risk it tonight!

Scary movies or shows are always best watched on a gloomy day or at night =} I love watching Walking Dead at night. My mom in law told me I should really start watching AHS because she knows how into horror movies and stuff I am. Guess I'll tell hubs to add it to our list of new shows to watch!

Hope everyone had a nice halloween! We did! Flight of beers, 1/2 beer and lemon pepper wings before the movie, then 2 margaritas at the movie and WAY TOO MUCH FOOD!!! I'm still full!!!! I enjoyed Carrie. I am dying to see the original again, from what I remembered it wasn't too far off?! But its been years since I've seen it.

Len is gone for the weekend. He is helping clean out his Nan's house/garage. She has had a rough 2yrs and moved in with one of his aunts. Guess the next move is to sell the house, which she hasn't quite come to grips with yet. So sad, she is completely together in her head, her body is just giving out. I hate to see it, she is a wonderful wonderful woman!!! She also doesn't want to sell the house because it has always been a place for all the kids and grandkids, and great grandkids to go in the summer. She lives in WIldwood, NJ and has prime location across the street from the bay and is 3 blocks from the beach. Poor Nanny!!!!

So I am on my own tonight and tomorrow. Heading to the gym after work for some wine/beer calories. Tomorrow I have my nephews 15th bday party. I will probably have a couple drinks nothing crazy since I'll be driving home. Sunday I plan on some form of physical activity in the morning then probably just a lazy day on the couch when Len gets home!!!!

    Happy weekend all!!!! :drinker:
