On Saturday night my friend is having a Friend's Thanksgiving, which will be Mexican food theme...YUM! I'm trying to figure out what I can bring besides my corn dip I like to make...and I'm thinking maybe some Mexican cornbread muffin...but idk yet!
For this past saturday I made a corn bread loaf with green chilis....so surprisingly simple and so surprisingly delicious!!! 2 boxes of jiffy corn muffin mix, 2 eggs, 2/3 cup of skim milk and 1 can of green chilis. BOOM done!0 -
YUM with the Mexican cornbread...my kind of Thanksgiving! and kates recipe is foolproof..but I also add a bit of red chile powder to the mix. it smokes up the flavor even more.
I finished off the open bottle of red last night...about 2 glasses. The weather has turned cold (well cold for us..in the 50/60s) so all i wanna do is drink red wine and curl up with a book. But I need to rack up a few 0's.
8 more days til my boy is home!!!0 -

Kate that sounds like a terrific recipe!!! What kind of pan did you put it in??0

A loaf pan, so friggin easy, seriously and I really like Syd's suggestion of the chile powder!!!!
Last night I had 6oz of wine....and even left some in the bottle :noway: I will most likely finish it tonight and hopefully avoid opening the other one
My bed was gosh darn warm and comfy this morning I skipped my morning workout, which means my gym bag is packed and I will torture myself with 45 mins on the elliptical...BOOO. The gym gets so crowded at night that if your lucky enough to get one cardio machine, chances are you won't be lucky enough to get a second, so I shall endure.
You know if the weather was nicer and didn't get dark at by 5, I would totally just go for a walk and be happy....ratcha fratcha :laugh:0 -
I am with you MamaLush!! I just can't seem to pull it all together.
Last night I was seriously so sick. Ron and I went out for dinner which I really didn't want to go because food just didn't sound good. So, I basically had 3 tall Farm Girl's with a corncob with a few bites of nachos - then, met up with a friend and drank some vodka. I was so sick last night and I can't even believe it. I never get sick from alcohol. It's been years since I've been gotten sick from alcohol.
Chole, you and the baby are ADORABLE!!
Sydney, you've do so well with the weight loss...you almost inspire me to keep trying!!
Kate, Wheezer will be great!!
Off to start some Christmas shopping.0 -
I had spaghetti and meatballs last night with my homemade sauce...so of course it called for red wine. So much for aiming for some 0's this week. Maybe I'll do better tonight.
Kim, sorry you got sick. And thanks for saying I inspire you but I haven't lost squat since *I* was sick! I've definitely been in a rut. :ohwell:0 -
Oooooooo, spaghetti & meatballs?? That is what I'm having for dinner tonight!! Minus the homemade sauce, but it will still be delicious! Then I plan to workout hardcord at the Y! I missed last night cause I had to grocery shop, and was in a no good, terrible, bad mood yesterday. Doing WAY better today!
Kim, being sick is no fun at all! That just sounds miserable! Hope you're feeling better today!0 -
I totally want spaghetti and meat balls now but we are having pork tender loin, baked potatoes some sort of veggie and salad. Nice and healthy. In the meantime I've got some housework to do and a work out as well!!0
-
Kat, pork tenderloin is delicious though! I wouldn't be having my spaghetti tonight if I wasn't going to my Dad's for dinner. He is making it, so I'm happy with that! It'll be a nice carby meal before working out. LOL. I. HAVE. TO. WORKOUT!
Work is going crazy slow today. But, at least it is Wednesday, so we're 1/2 way through the week!! YAY!!! Days just fly by anymore!0 -
Did someone mention spaghetti and meatballs????
That sounds so good!
That cornbread sounds good but not with the spaghetti and meatballs.
Feel better Kim:flowerforyou:
Kate - Enjoy Weezer!
Hi to all the other lushes.
I am just trudging along. I am thinking about what I feel like drinking tonight. Probably white wine because we are havin orange ginger salmon but I am kind of craving something in the mixed drink category.0 -
It's been too long, Lushes! Just realized September was the last thread I checked in on! My dad was very ill and sadly, lost his battle with cancer on Oct. 30th:brokenheart:
I am trying to get back into a routine and started a program this week, Rachel Cosgrove's Drop 2 Sizes. Hate the name, but it's a 12-week program I can do at home so I figure it'll be good enough to get me ready for Costa Rica in December.
I am still trying to limit drinking but it's a daily struggle..
Sunday-0 (a drank a little bit of beer that I didn't use in a recipe...)
Monday=0 drinks
Tuesday=1 beer
Wednesday= shooting for 0 but looks like wine weather is coming our way tonight.
Planning on margs Thursday and Happy Hour Friday, Girls night Saturday...0 -
Hi guys, new to the group but I think I know a few members
Sounds like a place I may fit into.
0 -
asj- very sorry to hear about your dad. My wife lost her mother a year ago due to a long illness.
Welcome to the group ram! We is sum interesin people here.Feel free to jump into any conversation!
The week has gone ok for me. Not moderating as much as I would like but with working out and a little moderating the scales are now headed back down. Still have a few pounds to drop to reach my low from last May.
Have a great evening all!0 -
Good to see you asjerven...I just figured you were busy being a newleywed...I'm so sorry to hear about your dad.
welcome ramalem! :drinker:0 -
Amy, cancer is a mean, mean disease...The only good thing is that he is at peace now. :flowerforyou:
Yes, Syd, when I read your zeros I envy the will-power and the fact that you just keep plugging away and you haven't gained it back...well done.
Welcome Ramalem, what's your drink?
Hi - Dianna!!
Ummmm, Tuesday - 0
My ceilings are getting done tomorrow - goodbye popcorn and a new fresh coat!!
Tomorrow, I am working out and getting rid of this extra weight. I have lapsed back into the 180's firmly when not long ago I was knocking at the 160's. I have got to turn things around.
So, plan is for barre yoga at 0930 and some X-mas shopping after -- logging everything that touches my lips and liquor. I might just try and shoot for zeros until TG eve.0 -
Amy, welcome back and I am so, so sorry for your loss. Cancer is the devil. I lost my Mom to cancer 12 years ago. My thoughts & prayers are with you!
Welcome to the group, Ramalem! It is a wonderful group of people...and no judgment at all!! :drinker:
Kim, I've lapsed up to 163 while a year ago at this time I was sitting pretty right about 150. Crazy thing is, I've quit drinking as much during the week & am working out way more, yet the scale isn't budging! Makes me sad!!! But we just have to keep on, keepin' on!0 -
Hey Ram! Good to see you here!
I love how not only do we talk about booze, but food as well. I made a pretty good meat loaf last night. I put fennel in it (and oats, eggs, basil, salt, pepper, red wine, and balsamic), put half in the pan, sprinkle some blue cheese, and top with the other half. It's very tasty. So of course I had to drink that malbec I opened. Amazingly, I did not drink the whole thing. I had a little under 4 glasses I reckon since some was in the loaf, and there's about half a glass plus in the bottle. I had about 2 drinks Monday and racked up a 0 Tuesday. Not sure about tonight. I may drink that red. Friday we'll be laying low and Saturday are having another couple over, but hopefully that will be mellow.
It's almost the weekend! Then I only work 2 days next week and we're off to NC for Thanksgiving and will return next Monday. Yay!0 -
Amy so sorry for your lose Honey!!!!!!
Welcome ramalem! This group makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside cause they are so awesome!!!
Ashley, MMMM Meatloaf!!!!!!!! Although I am not a fennel fan, it sounds quite lovely!!!!
Monday-0
Tuesday-6oz of wine
Wednesday-6oz of wine
I mean not too bad right??!!!....one glass got me through the evening....I should def go back to drinking it more often and since the weather is changing it may just happen.
I will most likely have something tonight, I was thinking wine but Lenny just asked if I wanted him to pick up vodka on his way home and I said YES! So we shall see :bigsmile:0 -
Ashley, your meatloaf sounds delicious! I really love the idea of the blue cheese in between too! YUM!
Monday - 1 glass of reisling
Tuesday - 0
Wednesday - 0
Thursday - will be 0!
So happy that tomorrow is Friday! I'm thinking that either I'll make dinner tomorrow night (or we'll go to Buffalo Wild Wings)...and then on Saturday, lots of mexican food & hanging out with our friends/neighbors! YAY!!! I love my alone time with my hubby since he works 2nd shift during the week, but I really love when we both get to hang out with friends. It will be a really good time...with cornbread!! LOL0 -
had the wine with a little chocolate but it fit, so who was I to deprive myself?!
Thank you all for your kind words, it is a difficult time.
I changed my pic to one of me with my dad, but I celebrated my 4 year anniversary in August. Hard to believe it has been that long-I joined here before my wedding and it seems like not that long at all!0 -
Amy - beautiful pic - you're right, time flies
The ceilings are getting painted today and I am trapped upstairs. I am hoping that they will be done before 1-or-2 because I am kind of getting hungry and the rooms are all poly'ed
Monday - I have no clue but too much for sure
Tuesday - 0
Wednesday - I will continue to behave
Ashley - I almost drooled over the blue cheese - nice touch there.0 -
Thanks for the warm welcome everyone! My drink of choice is wine - but love whiskey as well. We had about 4 cases of wine left over from my wedding in August, so of course I'm doing my part to help get rid of that.
I also really enjoy cooking, so am excited to hear what everyone cooks up! It's been so cold here this week (I'm in Seattle, WA) that a hot toddy was almost a requirement last night.
Better- that meatloaf sounds amazing! I feel like meatloaf is a highly underrated meal.
Monday - 2 beers
Tuesday - 6oz wine
Wednesday - hot toddy
I am headed to Montana tonight for the Cat vs Griz football game (big state rivalry) soooo I'm sure I'll be putting plenty of beers away!0 -
Ram, wine is delicious! I wish I were more of a red drinker though because I drink whites WAY too fast. I'm slowly starting to like whiskey (when mixed with Sprite or ginger ale). Pretty tasty! But it has to be Jameson!
Have fun in Montana!! That sounds like fun!!0 -
another Washington state lush! There's quite a few of you in here...hmmmm.
I made homemade pizza last night. On whole wheat crust...which i know so many hate but I actually prefer. I sauteed a bunch of onions, red peppers and mushrooms and brushed the crust with some of my homemade marinara I had leftover from my spaghetti and meatballs and topped with a light mozzarella cheese. I'm at the point where I won't eat take out pizza anymore cuz mine's so much better...and healthier.
Of course I had to have red wine with it. :drinker:
The scale budged a little. I'm hoping it sticks.
Bring on the weekend!0 -
Amy, so so sorry for your loss but as someone mentioned, as hard as it is losing your loved one at least he's not struggling anymore. Hang in there sweets :flowerforyou:
Welcome Ram!!
Everyone's Christmas gifts are arriving and since Thanksgiving is so late this year I'm decorating today and tomorrow =} Now before any Grinches jump in, I have had my Fall decor up since September and normally I wait to put up the Christmas decorations until the day after Thanksgiving.
Husband is in New York for the night for his company's Game dinner and will be home late tomorrow because he's going to a basketball game after his meetings so my friend Eve is coming over for a sleep over and to help decorate0 -
lol Kat..I can't wait to decorate..no grinch here! When the son leaves back to school after Thanksgiving I look forward to getting the house ready for his return less than 2 weeks later. I'm already doing some pre organizing/cleaning and yes..I have started the shopping...90% of which I do online and packages are starting to arrive. The problem I have is I forget where I hide them and what I have bought for people! So this year I actually made a list.
Ok..you and I can sit over in the corner now and let the bah humbugs have at us. :smokin:0 -
Hello dear lushes.
I still just in a rut. (Kim I am right there with you, back bouncing of 180 and I hate it.)
Amy I am so sorry for your loss. I still have my dad but I lost my mom the day after christmas 6 years ago. I really get kind of bummed out during the holiday.
Welcome Ram. I am Robin but they call me Mama Lush because I keep the thread going each month. I am from north of Seattle, I work for a big aerospace company, I have 4 grown children and 2 beautiful granddaughters. And of course my fur boys, Bodi and Ritter. None of my human kids live nearby. and I am one hell of a lush. I love wine, vodka and good sipping rums. I love real homemade egg nog this time of year and my version is almost 50% alcohol. it is soo good.
Okay lushes. The weekend is approaching and it has been a crazy week. I only have 19 working days unti I hit the sea and sun.:smokin: :drinker: :drinker:0 -
3 grape vodkas and sprite zero....they go down too god damn easy!!! Had a rough evening with work and have so much anxiety about how the day is going to progress..........AND got up bright and early to hit the gym and when we got there, there was no stafff, which means the gym was closed WTF if I can get my *kitten* up so can you ESPECIALLY since you are getting paid. This means I have to go after work :grumble: But honestly I'd much rather walk to the bar
Weyerbacher, Bethlehem Brewworks and Weezer tomorrow....it can't come soon enough!!!!0 -
Monday - 2 margs
Tuesday, I really don't remember but here goes - 5'ish Farm Girls (3 tall) - and 3 to 4 vodkas - I didn't eat dinner and no wonder I was friggin' sick
Wednesday - 0
Thursday, 2 Sam Adams
I am thinking of going to dinner with Ron and a bottle of wine could be had.
My ceilings were painted yesterday and they look very, very nice. Of course, the take-down of the popcorn was a mess.
I was lucky enough to get the day off work and I must not waste it. My TG is getting bigger and bigger - I think 21 now because Ron invited 2 more people. Although, I love it, I have no idea where I am going to put everyone as far as seating. Oy vay!! I am going to have to peel a lot of mashed potatoes for sure!!
Today is wiping down walls, floors & furniture to rid of dust. I will also be starting to decorate the front porch and bring crap down from the attic. We will get the tree after TG - I love the smell of fresh pine in the house.
Kate, I am very, very jealous of your Wheezer weekend...enjoy!!0
