Lisah8969. I'm glad you weren't badly injured. Great job for continuing on. :drinker: I did get a bike ride in today, but not without mishap. I was moving to the right to let a walker and a couple of other oncoming bicyclists pass and I dropped the front wheel off the pavement..........and ran into the fence. :noway: I was moving pretty slow at the time, so I was far more embarressed than hurt, mostly because everyone stopped to make sure that I was OK. I'm glad they checked , but I can't blame anything other than my own clumsiness. :laugh: This is probably why I spend most of my moving time on my own two feet. (Although I have tripped and fallen out walking too. :laugh: )
Well, I had something similar happened to me last week... I was going downhill on my bike, and suddenly, NO MORE STEERING!!! My steering was straight, and my front wheel was turning left !!! :huh: :grumble: What an epic fall AND fail !! :blushing: :blushing: I came back walking beside my bike... :huh: Got a few scratches, but nothing serious. I knew I was to double check everything before leaving, and I didn't... my son put that bike together 2 years ago, and I took it out last week. I did check most of the bolts, but not all, and I KNEW I had to do it. But I was just too anxious to get out there... Needless to say that I'm now doing a routine inspection on my bike BEFORE I go for a ride! :ohwell:0 -
6/2-5.2, 6/3 - 3.03 - total so far 8.230

21.6 miles for the last two days. 6 walking miles yesterday & a fantastic 15.6 miles bike ride this morning.
Below, a taste of the hills I have to deal with on a daily basis. I'm pretty sure anybody living in a hilly area can relate!
And that yellow bike sign on the right... We do see those around here for bikes... And that yellow sign saying SLOW, well. No kidding. Don't really want to kill myself, so I don't really have a choice do I ! The funny thing is, when I was coming back, I noticed that same yellow sign while going up... No kidding!!! What speed do you think I'll reach going up, except turtle speed?!
And this is where I stopped for a refill...

Wow - that seems like a huge number I need still. My average is 15 miles per day = at the moment I've got that down to 14 but just barely. Hmm -- better be stepping it up a bit on the non-commuting days.0 -
@speedyf - Nice pictures. I love shady trails. Is that gravel though? I would be going super slow. I don't like feeling my tires slip.0

@verdemujer:
On big down hills like this one, it's gravel over rock dust. I'm pretty sure they put gravel to slow down bikers. Not an easy descent and the ascent is even harder! No grip.0 -

Speedy - You need a Fat Tire bike. I have one with 4" wide tires. It gets amazing grip on gravel, mud and snow. Not so much on pavement though. I have been riding that one on trails instead of my mountain bike and it's been a lot of fun. :bigsmile: :bigsmile:
Beautiful pictures. :drinker: :drinker:0 -

SPREADSHEET UPDATED TO HERE
See (but not edit) the
spreadsheet here:

=============================
K80FLEC - No worries, I've got you down. Go ahead and change your ticker over to June. :drinker:
DJMICHEALS - Good luck on your 5K!! And HEY, you run exactly the same speed that I do!!!! What are the odds?!? :bigsmile::laugh:
SPEEDYF - Not you too, Annie!?!?! I don't want anyone else getting hurt on their bikes.... You probably don't need to check everything before every ride, but a very thorough check before each riding season and then a once-a-month spot check should be sufficient. Handlebar stems don't usually come loose if they were tightened properly in the first place. :noway:
GALACTUSEMPIRE - If you go to the Group's home page and scroll down to the listing of threads, you'll see one marked FAQ's. Click on that and then scroll down until you find the one covering Tickers. It should explain pretty much everything you need to know about how to create and update a ticker. If you still have questions, shoot me a message and I'll try to help you.
VHUBER - Get some rest and get rid of that cold. Hope you feel better soon!
Well, I just got home from work at almost 11:30pm. WAY too late. Thankfully, I got a good 3.5 mile walk in during the day.
