Work / Life and special events for the upcoming Swim Club meet which means loss of evening lane swim schedule have meant that I have 0 days so far in Jan.
Next 2 weeks don't look good. grumble grumble etc.
Love the pyramids @emmab0902 - always enjoy the benefits that they give.1 -
2.6km open water swim. In about 36 minutes. Which seems wrong. The person I swam with was wearing a Garmin (she's a professional triathlete) and said it was 2.6km in 38 minutes and she was about 2 minutes behind me so I possibly swam a bit less perhaps.0
-
Yep damn looks like her Garmin was off! Although she reckons it would still be close to 2500 even without the glitch.0

Shows how easy it is for tracking devices to lose way points resulting in corrupted data. The corruption can cause the results to be short of actual distance or longer depending on where they occurred. In looking at the IMG of your swim I see a few times where the data has you on the beach and some very sharp turns out in the water, these are classic indicators of lost/corrupted data way points.
If you were to take a Kayak and paddle the course with a Garmin on the Kayak deck ( did you swim around Set Buoy's ?? ) it should give you a very accurate representation of the course.
I did a training run on a trail last year where we followed a power line right of way down the side of a mountain through the trees. It seemed like the electrical field from the power line was overwhelming the GPS receiver in the watch resulting in lost data way points which caused the results to be shorter than the actual distance. In our case it was easy to see on a map as it showed us going over the edge of a 30m cliff and across a gap that was 100m across between the cliff edges. I can't jump that far and I don't have wings so corrupted data.

Very boring 2600m. Arms feel tired after yesterday's open water swim. Probably a combination of not swum that far non stop in my life before, plus not used to wetsuit.

4 miles today.
Mixed in some 100 sprints for the first time in a while. 6 total including the last 100 at the end of 4 miles.
The sprints were from 1:36 to 1:38. Even the last 100 of 7050 yards was 1:37.
Average pace for the 4 miles came out to 1:50.
Not bad for an old fart.3 -
Been out sick for a week with a nasty virus. I'll see what my body will do tonight. No grand hopes as I wasn't much of a distance gal in the first place.2

Need I say more about the conditions outside.
A short swim tonight just lapping the pool. didn't count, just swam sets of 10 and change stroke so 60 lengths min = 1500m.
Was supposed to be on vacation skiing but it's just to cold, wouldn't be much fun and not safe. If a person got injured they could have hypothermia and severe frost bite by the time they were rescued.
I might be a tad grumpy.2 -
Sick all week. Can't figure out a good time to swim during the week with the downtown pool still closed. Finally got to the pool today. 2000 yards freestyle.1

I think I am going to get back up to Tues, Weds, Fri. Missed it too much last week and Weds to Tues break is going to cost me endurance long term!0 -

Pool was hot. At last 88.
Sux when it feels that hour going in.
I didn't even try pushing sprint sets.1 -

This is me... totally. I'm signing up to be a Water X instructor. It's cheap. It's only 3 Fri night/Saturday weekend commitments. They always need subs. There's no reason not to do it, but I could still come up with 5 excuses without needing any time.
No swim since Friday, but Friday was good Back at it tomorrow.
