    1000m

    250m relaxed front crawl
    250m breathing drills to 13
    100m sprint (1:37)
    50m relaxed
    100m sprint (1:35)

then circuits - just 175m in that. A lot of breathing work with the brick and swimming underwater.
Instructor challenged me to try a length and a half (37.5m) and I wimped out ( :s ) about 1 stroke away from it. So now the goal is 2 lengths (50m) underwater :D

Missed swimming on Tuesday - we got more than a foot of snow on Monday and I set my alarm for a half an hour earlier to shovel. Yeah no, it took more than an hour to dig out the front of my house. Took another hour to dig out my driveway after work, and I still have another hour to dig out between the house and the garage. It's a workout, although not the work out I necessarily want.

But, did get to the pool today.

1000m free before the masters workout

And then I don't really remember the specifics of the masters workout, except there were build sets.

No swim for me today. Travelled to Wellington and what was supposed to be a 200 mile trip turned into much longer as we got half way in my daughters car which then overheated so had to turn back and keep filling up the radiator every 20 miles then swap to my car and start the journey all over again.

So my planned evening swim didn't happen as we didn't arrive until 9pm. Here for my first ever open water event on Sunday!

Just a 600m swim in the sea - doing a 3.3km ocean swim tomorrow morning so just tested the waters so to speak - didn't even need a wetsuit. Look how clear the water is!

Feeling nervous about tomorrow - the first leg is 2km out to sea to turn around a lighthouse - it's so far out can barely see it from the shore!

Last night and this morning, same thing: laps for an hour, then class for an hour. This morning's swim was awesome. I'm not sure why because last night wore me out. I was really well hydrated though. And I had a small espresso before my swim this morning.

Emma, that water is beautiful. I have to admit, I can't see open water in my future. I can barely swim next to the high schoolers doing butterfly in the next lane :confounded:

3.3km ocean swim event this morning (my first one ever!) Never swum that far before in my life! But I survived and even won my age group. Did it in 49.01 so can't complain.

    @emmab0902 YEA Way to go.
Outside temp -28C . The pool was an absolute madhouse - everyone escaping the cold.
Lane swim at noon 4-6/lane and quite often would end up with a ball or toy from the adjacent kiddie wading pool magically appearing in the lanes. Just a simple up/down 1000m. No drills as there were just to many people coming and going to get any rhythm.

2550 m February Adult Swim club.
So I had all of 4-5 days of swimming in January so I knew this was going to hurt.

    Warm-up 50m Free, Kick, Pull = 150m

    Free
    4 x 50m on 20, 15, 10, 5 SecRI then repeat x 4 = 800m
    4 x 150m Broken 10 SecRI - 50, 75, 25 = 600m

Backstroke (to break up the free and change up muscle loading)
    50m Kick, Catch-up, 6-kick Switch, Pull = 200m
    100m Backstroke

    Free
    2 x 300m Pyramid 25, 50, 75, 75, 50, 25 @ 10SecRI = 600m

    100 Easy Choice Cooldown

Working on getting more balance in my stroke.
My right hand I tend to dive it into the water making for a shorter pull on the right.
My left I get a nice long pull but I tend to drop it into the water with an audible plop and a major stream of air bubbles, indicating a very inefficient-non-streamline entry.
Also working on more balance in my 3 cycle breathing. Left shoulder is ragged when compared to my right.

So if I wake up in the morning and can't lift my arms to wash my face, brush my teeth etc I know what caused it.

Yesterday - still working my way back into the pool - so this time 850m in 30/40 mins.

I have to take it gently....doctor's orders. So it was a Big Deal for me to add getting back into the pool into my schedule last week.

Er - I hope you don't mind my pointing this out, but it wasn't exactly the warmest welcome back to the group last week from the 'old familiars' after my year out !

Mmm. Has this group lost its supportive mojo, or did I just pick an unlucky week to dive back in?!

Ah well. It is good to see some great swims going on.

And hope you all enjoy getting wet...however fast/long/often you manage this week. X
