I have had a pint of Tiramisu from the local gelato place in my freezer since probably Christmas. I had some last night and it was terrible! Grainy, no mix ins, and an off taste. I ended up throwing out my serving and the rest of the pint, first time I've ever done that.0

I was super excited that we had extra time on our hands yesterday after the obligatory visit to the bar after we got back in town (two beers left until I hit 200, and I want my party on my birthday, so extra trips are required). I dragged the boyfriend to Target to check out the "better" Talenti selection, and it was horrible. We did pick up some of the flavored oreos (peanut butter cup and cotton candy), and I discovered I still have no self control around those, especially after drinking a few imperial stouts...
I was annoyed, so we hit up Whole Foods, who also had a horrible Talenti selection, and overall a pretty small gelato/ice cream section all together. I did pick up a few new things, so we'll see...0 -
Tonight I tried the Talenti Tiramisu. It is by far my favorite of the new flavors. I'll probably have at least one more serving before deciding whether it bumps one of the others out of my top three. Really nice base, strong espresso flavor, and the ribbon is divine. The only complaint I have is that it could have been better if there had been ladyfinger mix-ins. I got it at Harris Teeter, btw, if you're looking and have those in your area.

I feel like I'm becoming a total glutton. :P
I may have to try that one then. Both that and the Spiced Turtle kinda seem like fall to me so I haven't really been in the mood for either. I've also got half a pint of Talenti egg nog in the back of my freezer waiting for it to get cold again.
I have a pint of pumpkin gelato from our neighborhood place just hanging out in my freezer for the same reason. Also two cans of pumpkin in the pantry from the pumpkin bread I never got around to making, and I think a maple bacon cookie mix that I was going to throw together for a party in the Fall and didn't... Maybe we should have an "Octoberfest in May" party!

To be devoured. One of the stores here had the fall flavors for 7.99 a pint. bought one. Seemed spendy then.
Put it on French toast with a little bit of syrup. So. freaking. good.0 -
So I gave this a try last night:
Very meh. It was odd because it was clearly dispensed as a solid cut to fit the cup because it didn't come in contact with the inner edges of the container. And it was hard as a rock. The entire container. It started out as a good ginger flavor, but my taste buds quickly adjusted and then it was pretty mild (although I LOVE ginger).
It's low calorie and high protein, but sold as an individual serving (and I think it was $3-4). I doubt I'd buy again, but I could see it filling some peoples' needs. And it's great macros (160 calories and 15g protein).
It's been a while, so I can't remember what I thought of the ginger, but I liked the chocolate.0 -

It's one of my favorites, too! I bought the Breyer's Tiramisu to see how that one compared. It was good, and it was really creamy, but I loved the flavor of the Talenti more. Did you try the Coffee Toffee yet? I kept hoping I would like it more as I got into it, but it's just "good", not "great" to me.0 -

If I could make French toast that was awesome I would. Every time I make it I'm disappointed. 9 out of ten times I order it I'm disappointed. The only place I get it anymore is this little place in town where they deep fry it. Maybe I'll sNeak it in!

I really hope I come across this! I had Hazelnut Chocolate Chip again tonight and I have to say, of the three I've tried, it's my least favorite. It's still good, but there's something missing for me. Though this time I did find hazelnuts in there rather than just the chips.
I have to finish one of these three up before I can buy another one. I just don't have enough room in my freezer for anymore.0 -

I have that one but haven't tried it yet. I'm not a huge coffee ice cream person but I do love toffee so I'm hoping it evens out a bit.krissyreminisce wrote: »ILiftHeavyAcrylics wrote: »Tonight I tried the Talenti Tiramisu. I'll be working through what's in my freezer for the foreseeable future. It's kind of ridiculous.

Turkey Hill is $1.99 at Giant.0 -
Is anyone in NY or PA? If you are, get your mitts on Perry's Escapes White Lightning. It's dark chocolate with white mint fudge ribbons. SO good.0

Hot diggity! I forgot I have a $1 coupon from Turkey Hill in my e-mail. Woot!0 -
I saw Talenti Roman Raspberry and Simply Strawberry at the local Kroger today, and $1 less than usual, so I bought them both. I've been doing a lot better at not mindless snacking, and I lifted today, so I had plenty of room left in my calories and was looking forward to savoring a whole pint of raspberry gelato. But, one look and one spoonful in, I realized it was "sorbetto" -- a sorbet type. No cream, and no fat or protein. It was okay as far as sorbets go, but I really prefer my frozen treats to have the cream. And I don't do as well with straight sugar as compared to sugar balanced by fats (I seem to have a reactive hypoglycemia reaction to straight sugars, especially drinks or, it now seems, sorbets). I only ate 1/2 of it and had to balance it out with milk and chips ahoy.
So, the short of it is, Roman Raspberry is good if you like Sorbets. The flavor is fairly true, and the bit of lemon makes it slightly tart, so it isn't pure sweet. But if you want a good, creamy gelato, this isn't the one.0 -

I'm not a big sorbetto lover either. I'm interested to hear how the Simply Strawberry is though.0 -

Hmmm. That's one of the flavors Meijer stopped selling last month, and I never noticed it wasn't gelato (I never bought it because the red kind of threw me off as an odd color).
Anyway, another trip to Target, and still no new flavors. Disappointing.0 -
Yeah that's why I pretty much never buy fruit flavors... for me it's not worth the calories.0

That's how the mango one is, too. My daughter really wanted it, so we bought it. Not overly impressed. It was good, but not worth the calories.

I've heard that mango one is terrible, so I haven't tried it. My kids like the fruit flavored ones, so they actually liked the Lisbon Lemon which I thought tasted like Lemon Pledge... Blech.

I wouldn't call it terrible. It was REALLY sweet, though, and I'm just not into sorbets.

I am kind of interested in trying at least one of the Talenti sorbets. I had a good time with the watermelon flavor at Marble Slab recently.0

That sucks. I was going to try their Alfonso Mango flavor until I read here how many people despised it. I remember their Lemon Sorbetto was so sweet I could barely finish the pint. Their Black Cherry flavor (not sure if sorbetto or regular flavor) was pretty good.0 -
Tonight I made a Peanut Butter Poptart & Cookie spread sandwich. So yummy!0

If anyone is in the Gettysburg or McSherrytown areas in Pennsylvania you should stop in & try this http://www.halfpintcreamery.com/flavors.html. I haven't tried her ice cream yet, but I've heard it's delicious.0

Cadbury egg flavor? OH god that sounds awesome.0

Dreams really do come true... Someone brought in a box of bacon caramel doughnuts this morning to work.

I was finally able to try Talenti sea salt caramel and it was sooo good. I ended up avoiding the chocolates so I could eat them all at once in the end.
It made up for the awful chocolate wedding cake egg I ate earlier.

I'm on an ice cream ban since I've been eating way too much recently but when I can moderate it again I am trying her Dunkaroo flavor.0 -
