Hey all!- I am newly pregnant, just found out two days ago and I am 8 weeks along. I actually have not had any symptoms except a lil soreness in my breasts. My main question is how intensely do all you exercise ( if at all). I have been doing Insanity, Turbo Fire and Insanity Asylum and I run 5 miles 4 times a week. Am i ok to continue or should I cut back ( i normally workout about 2 hours a day)
Welcome and Congrats! As for working out, my doctor as advised to stick to lower impact workouts... So I am sticking to zumba, turbo jam (doing the lower impact variation), Leslie Sansone dvd's and also walking my dogs. I will probably look for other low impact dvd's later on when I get bored with what I have.0 -

Welcome!! I have continued doing the same things basically, but just scaled back the intensity. I will sometimes do Turbo fire, but I mostly due Turbo Jam because it's a little easier. I still do Zumba, but also try to keep it lower intensity for the most part. I bought a heart rate monitor when I found out I was pregnant, to help keep myself from overdoing it because I was doing some intense workouts as well. I try to make sure my HR doens't get over 150 at least for very long. I'm not sure how intense Insanity is, but I think TF would still be fine, maybe just take it back a notch, be easy with the HIITs or don't do them, and do the low impact version. running should be fine too, there are plenty women that run while pregnant. Maybe just slow your pace down a little. I used to run at about a 6mph pace, and now I do 5-5.2mph due to my heart rate! Hope this helped!0 -
Ok so this is on the personal side of things IMO....my Dr called today to inform me that my lovely pap smear from last week came back "abnormal" and she has scheduled me for a coloscopy (which is basically a very upclose look at the cervix) Needless to say I am FREAKING out, worrying I have HPV or cancer or something...anyone else ever had abnormal pap results? positive outcome? not positive? while pregnant? I mean any experience would be nice as I've NEVER had an abnormal pap. AHHHH0

I wouldn't worry about it too much - they're probably just taking extra precaution because you are pregnant.. you could just have a bacteria or something that dissapears on its own.. I have HPV, but there are slight chances it actually becomes cancer, I just get checked more often.. it's a lifetime thing so I just have to deal with it - I have no more symptoms - used to have a little bit of genetal warts but we burned them away.. It's actually not that big a deal, many women and men have it - which is why they are getting teenagers to get vaccinated for it now.
Stressing won't do you any good - just keep in mind that they are just making sure everything is good with yours and your baby's health.0 -
Ok girls, looks like i'm at 12 weeks today! I'm going to be switching over to the second trimester board (can't believe i'm there already!!!) I wish everyone a great pregnancy and I can't wait to greet you girls on the other side! :glasses:0

Somethinglike 50% of people have hpv. I do. Not that big of a deal.
I have my first appt with my ob/gyn this morning. I hope to hear a heartbeat! I am going to go ahead and do the nuchal scan an protein screen. It is expensive and I don't have a history of birth defects or downs inmy family but it's better to know, right?0 -

Even though I've moved on to the 2nd Tri board, I still come back here to see what's going on! Anyway, we went ahead with the downs/nuchal/trisomy testing even though there's no known family history for us, either. We figured if there is something wrong, we'd like to be able to do some research and be prepared once baby arrives. So far I've done the u/s and first round of blood work and everything is looking good!0 -

Good luck on your visit - hearing the heartbeat is an amazing feeling! I also want to know ahead of time if my baby has downs.. it will just help us mentally prepare ourselves - we will not abort... make sure to talk this over with your man though.. it's a touchy subject
Hope you have a good appt!!0 -
So whats everyone's view on coloring your hair while pregnant? I have been looking up a bunch of articles and it seems that this might be an old wives tale. Doesnt really seem like there is any evidence that it does any harm. Plus how can women who are pregnant work in a salon and be fine if it did cause so much damage?
The reason I am asking is that I normally dye my hair blond with Nice and Easy ( a home coloring product) and am in a wedding next week., I has been about 5 weeks since I coloried my hair and the roots are coming in bad. I really need to fix my hair before this wedding.0 -
guilty....i had my hair colored during both pregnancies; though I did always wait until I had cleared the first trimester.0
-
I asked my OBGYN... she dosen't see a problem with it.. she says its an old wives tale..0
-
Heard a heartbeat! Very excited...0

During my first pregnancy I had to color my hair due to a wedding as well ( I was the Maid of Honor). At the time I became pregnant I was dying my hair Strawberry Blonde by the time the wedding came I was 21 weeks along ( last time I died my hair was 25 weeks) so I NEEDED to do it. I colored it to my natural brown and added highlights...my daughter is a healthy 2 year old!!! What I've noticed is that a lot o f mommy-to-Be's would rather dye their hair as close as possible to their natural hair color, in other words you'll dye it once and never worry about it again.0

Jamie-I just got my hair colored yesterday, just a touch up at the salon. My OB said it's fine.
cmax-that's so exciting!
So I am very frustrated because I had an apparent miscommunication with my boss about training going on tomorrow. It was a two day training and I thought he said he said I only needed to go today, as I told him I had an appointment tomorrow! But talking to him today, I do have to go, so I have to reschedule my ultrasound to next Friday, I could do it earlier but I really want my husband to be there. On a good note, I feel less tired today!0 -
My husband is actually busy Friday, so he's taking off Monday! At least i don't have to wait as long now. And his grandpa is having surgery that day anyway, so it works out well.0

Glad to hear you don't have to wait too much long for your ultrasound... Hope all goes well with your husband's grandfather and his surgery.0 -
Hi! I really hope I'm not jumping the gun by posting here, but I just got a positive home pregnancy test today (actually, I had a squinter yesterday, but it was too light to get my hopes up).
This is our 6th cycle trying and I was just about to see an RE and get the ball rolling with Clomid, etc. I have a unicornuate uterus, which basically means that I have half of a normal-sized uterus and only one connected tube. This puts me at risk for 2nd trimester miscarriage or pre-term births. (Sorry to be a downer.)
I'm hoping this sticks! I have an appointment with an OB on the 21st! Hoping we see good things!0 -

 I just re-read my comment and I really do sound quite down. I'm very excited. I just don't think the reality has set in quite yet! It'll help to see the doctor and get it confirmed.0 -
Had my first doc appt today and had an ultrasound. I am 7 wks exactly. Saw the baby and heard a nice strong heartbeat. It was so great. Equally as great is that my doc gave me a prescription for Zofran to help w/ the morning sickness. Will take my first pill in the morning - really hoping it will help me get though the day and to start eating again!0
-
I plan on coloring my hair tomorrow too, but this might be the last time for a while. I want my hair to grow, and I've been having it cut every 6 weeks for the past 5 years.
chickybuns - That's great that you don't have to wait another week for your ultrasound! That would be one loooong work week!
kaitlinj - Congrats to you!! I didn't quite believe I was pregnant either right away. That first ultrasound is definitely amazing!
_____
I had my 7 week ultrasound yesterday, and the baby is measuring one day ahead with a heartbeat of 141. Everything looks great! We go back in two weeks for our "graduation-from-the-fertility-clinic" ultrasound. Last night, I was hit HARD with fatigue. I don't think I've ever been that tired. Hopefully that's not going to be a common occurence.

Hi Ladies,
Today im 10wks3d, i saw my OB yesterday and my last pap came back abnormal. I'm scheduled to have colposcopy done in 2 weeks. Has anyone had this done when they were pregnant? I'm kind of nervous...0 -

Totally know what you're going thru right now with waiting for your colposcopy....I also am waiting to have mine done in two weeks, so nervous about it. But some other ladies on here I believe have had them, but not while pregnant to my knowledge. My Dr. wasn't very helpful in helping me to not freak, but I've researched it a lot online and that's helped me some. Sorry we're in the same boat. Good luck, and here's to hoping & praying it's nothing major0 -

I have no direct knowledge on this, but have read that it is more likely to have abnormal paps during pregnancy. Did you ask your doctor if there are any risks with miscarriage or anything else? I think if I had an abornmal one, I personally probably wouldn't do the colposcopy, because if there is a problem are you really going to do anything with it while being pregnant? Just my personal thought. I have had a colposcopy and it is very unpleasant. Good luck with whatever you do!
Welcome kaitlin, that is very exciting. you're not a downer, I know I felt scared to get too attached right away and don't have any known problems, so I can imagine what you are going through. I still don't really feel it's real sometimes, even though I'm much pudgier and super hungry all the time!0 -
Thanks for your responses ladies. I think i am going to go through with the procedure so they look at my cervix. But as far as them wanting a biopsy, i'm going ot tell them no. I was doing research and alot of women on different forums who had a colposcopy while pregnant lost their mucus plug and ended up miscarrying. I do not want to risk that.0
