Welllll.. I'm not opposed to it completely but he'd have to be an exception. I guess because I don't have kids and if I ever have some I'd want to be able to share that with only him... but then again, I'm 32 and a lot of guys my age have childred already. I guess it'd have to be a case by case type of thing. My sister married a guy who had 2 kids with other women and she's had nothing but drama since.
For sure, I wouldn't date a guy with small children (toddlers and below). His kids were around 5 and 8ish??
But I have a feeling he's married. I don't know. I should see him tonight and now for sure i'm going to talk to him since I'm not all gaga over him anymore.

Most singles under 35 or 40 have a no kids rule. Dealing with someone else's kid while dating someone adds what I perceive to be an unnecessary layer of complication. Dating is already complicated enough without this tangent. Children are a huge responsibility, they need a lot of attention and resources. The younger the child, the more difficult it is.
If a person is so lucky enough to meet the love of their life in their teens or early 20s, both sides will be bringing minimal baggage to the table. After age 25, the baggage gets greater and greater.
By a person's late 20s/early 30s, they should have a well established routine in their lives. Most singles in this age group want someone who fits into their existing life, and don't want to make major adjustments for the new person.
After about 35 or so, the dating pool shrinks, making it harder and harder to find childless singles. At this point, a lot of the singles become divorcees hitting the market after a bad marriage.
Right now, I am looking for a person to build a long term relationship with, so that I never have to be on the dating market again. I realize that the longer a person is on the market, the harder it becomes to find the right one. However, that doesn't mean that anyone should tolerate a bad relationship just because the singles market gets less and less favorable as one ages.0 -

If he were single, why would he bring his kids to the gym? That was just weird. We have no daycare there. It was a Sunday which is usually slow but yesterday we pretty busy actually. It was just odd he'd bring them in.0 -

As a part time single dad, I couldn't just leave my young child when I wanted to work out, so I'd take her to the gym with me. She could sit still with a coloring book (would be a gameboy or ipad now, I guess) for the hour it took me to get my workout in. If he has a wife/gf, he could leave the kids with her. And considering that weekends and spring break are prime dad visitiation times...0 -

Which would be exactly why he'd have to bring his kids. No daycare. No mom at home to watch them. I try to avoid going to the gym, but when I have to (or just want to take a kickboxing class), I bring my son and set him in the corner with some video games. It's empty enough, I'll let him get on an elliptical or something. And I used to have one step instructor who loved having him join the class (most didn't for liability reasons).
Whenever we do the gym, I reward him with racquetball time, which he loves, so he's extra motivated to behave.0 -
Hmmm, he was being a good daddy too, being very attentive and letting his older son lift weights with him encouraging him. Then he took them running around the court and came back and I heard the little one say McDonalds. ha

Gym crush was there today. He TALKED to me!
My gym is not a big popular one. It's part of a huge church. I play volleyball for a church league and since I get a discount on membership, I joined.
Anywho, I came in and smiled at him. He smiled back. He then takes his earphones out and asks me how I was. I said good. He then says "so do you go to church here?" I replied that I didn't. I went to another. I asked if he did.. which he said no.
He said he was asking because last time he saw my t shirt that read Tupac (haha) and was wondering why a church girl was listening to Tupac. I said "oh I LOVE Tupac! and I'm a pastor's daughter". He said something about being a preacher's daughter and he asked 'so you like rap musich eh?' I said yes I loved it especially the classic stuff. He then said "oh okay I was just wondering..."
He put his earphones back on while I was laughing and he's giggling.

Oh and he walked out before me and I saw that he was in a motorcycle.. well one of those street racing types. Does a family man drive one of those???

I think the next time you see him ask how his day was... then introduce yourself right afterwards... ask his name... etc... and hopefully that will start more of a conversation... keep those earphones out of your ears or at least turned down so you can hear what he has to say.

The kiddos were his.. the youngest one called him "daddy".
For sure, on Thursday when I see him, I will introduce myself and I'm going to bring up the kiddos. My friend said to bring up kiddos and if he's married he will bring up his wife somehow (hopefully anyway), if he's married. Enough is enough! He obviously has looked at me and noticed me (duh), we are on the same schedule and hey, at the least I can make a new buddy (these buddies are starting to get to me though :grumble: )
